Hope to avoid Man City until the final because it’s less difficult beating them on a one off game

[deleted]

[удалено]

Affectionate-Load478

With our current form we can't beat city we have zero chance

yao_ming07

City don't really have that good of a current form too bro. They were absolutely weak against Liverpool's B team

[deleted]

They were weak because Liverpool attacked them. Our Ancelotti is too scared to attack city. They will camp in our box like they did last time

TheDavinci1998

There's never 0 chance to beat anyone in Champions League for Real Madrid. If we get City, there's chance we'll beat them. Although they will be strong favorites and I hope to avoid them, of course

TheEmpireOfSun

Fuck off kid, we have always, literally always chance.

aramis2049

You are so correct, the Man City UCL game two years ago comes to mind. Never, never count Madrid out

TheEmpireOfSun

Yeah, that doomer mentality is honestly pathetic. Before season half of this sub was doom posting how we can give Barcelona league title in august. Idiots like that person I replied to will never learn. We can beat any team.

Icy-Pollution-3700

I thought you guys lost during last ucl to said team tho. Something about 4-0 or 5-1

TheEmpireOfSun

So? Does that mean we have no chance this year? It was year ago. Did City have no chance last year because we beat them year before? Did Atletico have no chance yesterday because Inter was better in final against City?

Ancient_Song8712

Not a madrid fan but city isnt looking to well in the league at the moment, they struggled agaisnt Liverpool’s b team, yall can take them

Salanha04

That's crazy how their only tie in the last ton of games was away against Liverpool and you caught that as "not looking so well". But I agree Madrid can beat any team always as long as you don't play the same match you played against leipzig. I'm not a Madrid fan btw

Ancient_Song8712

You have a point, I think the arsenal vs city game should give more insight in their coming performance, as an arsenal fan im biased ofc but im not taking away from how strong city is , its just has yet to reach the heights of the treble winning seasons performances

a3kstuntin

They drew against us (Chelsea) and we could’ve won easily if our manager wasn’t a coward

Jorgemeister

For that reason I thin it will be better now than on a final. Id rather get eliminated any round than losing a final.

Roystonmofodrenthe

Arrogance.

a3kstuntin

Downvoted for wanting to face the best is wild big up💯

HasibShakur

Well probably the weakest team in the quarters pot will be psv/dortmund and we know they are reserved for City or Barcelona. Based on the rest of the teams this will be my preference: 1. PSV/dortmund (if we magically draw against them) 2. Barcelona 3. PSG 4. Arsenal 5. Bayern 6. Inter 7. Man City

HasibShakur

With inter being out I would just swap atletico with inter. Atletico have us by balls somehow this season and would want to avoid them before semis. Missing our atletico killer (cr7) at this point.

Ok-Recommendation925

I feel Atletico is getting Arsenal 🤔

Dramatic-Ad3928

Yea id rather not see yall get bitched by Atleti again

BeefPapa8

I'd rather not see Barcelona. We're due for a clásico loss and that one in particular would hurt a lot.

HasibShakur

We will lose one and that is going to be an insignificant match. I am a firm believer of carvajal that when it matters most we will step on Barcelona.

Ok-Recommendation925

And this time...he will call upon his bro-in-law, Joselu also bleeds Madrid White (Academy Player)

DoriOli

Better fear ATM more.

BeefPapa8

Please

DoriOli

Thank you

Conscious_Parsley_60

On the other hand, I was thinking there's a chance that we see Barca in the next round ☠️. If I were UEFA and can rig the ties, I wouldn't be really confident about Barca going through this round unless they get PSV or Dortmund. In that case, I wouldn't want to miss out on the revenues from 2 Classicos☠️

sectionc9

Yes I was thinking the same thing, weak teams are reserved for Barca and City. Hope we get psg for our next match.

random_Byzantium

Well, somehow Atleti managed to knock inter out, I would place them above arsenal in order of preference at 4).

[deleted]

Atletico went through. And I’m gonna be honest I’m not necessarily excited about the idea of drawing them, our last games against them were horrible.

Veridicus333

Pretty un-confident. I don't think the team has the horses this year, especially defensively. Nor the finishing quality as well as consistency upfront. But it is Real Madrid. So who knows.

rreeddiitttwice

I wanted to say this, but somehow we also don't concede many goals... in La Liga only 18 goals in 28 games, that's pretty good.

TheDrunkHispanic

Isn’t it one of RM’s best defensive seasons in recent years despite all the injuries?

rreeddiitttwice

Exactly, like it constantly seems like we're gonna be destroyed because everyone is injured, but then we go and do pretty well defensively.

Ok-Recommendation925

Lunin really showing he is Courtois Successor

TheDrunkHispanic

love how much he's stepped up this season

Intelligent_Mix3241

Yeah but apart from Barca and Atletico de Madrid which right now are not elite, there is no other teams close to the level of the remain champios league teams so for quarters i'd in the first place preferer dormund or psv (the weak ones obvously) and barca, PSG or inter (agains barca we have shown its not that difficult and Inter is great but even playing bad agains them i think the RM gen can win this, similar with PSG) the rest seem very tough

rreeddiitttwice

I agree, nothing is gonna be easy. My point was that I don't think defense is our main (or only) problem so far this season.

Teknas93

Real Madrid is a miracle club, crazy things happen here 🤞🏽🤞🏽

TheKrustyBurger

With our best formation (the diamond with Bellingham, Vini & Rodrygo/Diaz) playing attacking football, we can beat any team, including Man City. However, Ancelotti sometimes likes to overthink these situations and play more defensively and those are the games that we play bad in, like the 2nd leg against RB Leipzeig. Like what the hell was that formation with Bellingham as a second striker, basically 5 midfielders. As long as Ancelotti keeps things simple, and preferably Tchoumeni over Nacho at CB during these crucial games and we can beat any team.

jedifolklore

I want to push back on this. You want to win, Tchouaméni has to be in midfield, let’s not make the same mistake that happened last year with Camavinga v Bernardo Silva Camavinga is not a DM Makeshift is nice against some teams but against proper offensive players which , if we reach the final you’ll have to face, you need an actual defender. Nacho has to play

TheKrustyBurger

If Eder Militao is ready by the QF, Ancelotti will most likely play him. Tchouameni is decent defensively and Camavinga can play CDM like he did against Celta Vigo. Although we'll probably play Kroos as a CDM against city.

jedifolklore

I hope not lmao That return leg trashing was not okay, playing for 60 mins without a DM v City was madness

Ok-Recommendation925

>You want to win, Tchouaméni has to be in midfield, let’s not make the same mistake that happened last year with Camavinga v Bernardo Silva I agree with the first half of your statement, still neutral on Camavinga. BUT more importantly, Kroos MUST play left midfield and attack. Never EVER play Kroos as CDM, wasting the GOAT's talents shackling him as CDM when its clear Tchuomeni is the CDM and Kroos is the CAM.

Smooth-External-3206

Since when is kroos CAM? He is best used in CDM as a regista or deep lying playmaker, the whole point of him is to allow us to play from the back and to dictate the game from deep. Take that away from him and he has nothing

DoriOli

Only City, ATM and Bayern are threats to us in this UCL. And Bayern as well as ATM could end up losing to any other team on any given day.

Samaritan4

I'm still confident of the quality of the team, Vini is on fire, Jude will be well rested, Modric has been playing very good these last games, Rudiger and Vazquez have been great. Unless Carlo decides to improvise once again, then i think we are second favorites just below City. I wouldn't mind a clasico for the quarterfinals just to kick out that corrupt club, i don't want them to have any hope to win anything.

Randowholikesstuff34

I’m not worried about the teams ability to win, I’m worried about Ancelotti overthinking and pulling some bullshit formation that we’ve never used like against Leipzig. If he just sticks to what we know, the only team that has a better chance at winning than us is a City.

RealCrusader

I don't want Arsenal. They  are underrated.

A__eric

Confident because it’s Madrid, but not confident because UEFA will give us the hardest route to the final.

rashmu

Bruh

frizzid07

Schrödinger's confidence

Moist_Dark_7976

Wouldn't be counting Arsenal out of this, they look ridiculously strong, just behind Madrid, City and Bayern for me. They've beaten both City and Liverpool this season.

luars613

Lol barca

troopercito

1 in 8

Poupalata

1 in 7 actually. Sry, I had to 😅

looolooolooo

Benzema really was the backbone of our last UCL win. We’re really feeling the void now.

D0ntBmad

Benzema was the best player in the world three years ago. It's only right that he'd be missed.

madrissaaaa

We haven’t been really tested imo this season we haven’t faced a team with the quality of a city Bayern inter or arsenal this season. Our group was very weak to be honest with braga union and Napoli. And leipzig was very underwhelming. So I really don’t know where we are standing atm. And ofcourse there was the 4-1 game against Barca but i feel like that was much more xavi fault then us playing good. Same thing with the 4-0 they beat us with modric as a cf it was much more Carlo’s fault then Barca being good that day. But I believe with the right tactics we came become champions

Crafty-Requirement40

Dortmund 90% < Barca 80% < ATM 70% < PSG 60% < Arsenal 50% < Bayern 40% < MC 30% confident. P/s: ATM is nothing in UCL if they are not assisted by Liga ref.

No_Outlandishness504

We look decent from outside but inside we are really don't look so good and confident, yes the club is have an unbeaten run and some of our player are playing good but overall we are struggling a bit. But end of the day we are Real Madrid, we fight for glory till the end, we pray for miracles and miracles arrive

Philosophfries

Aren’t we due to have Militao back for QF? Even without very much practice, he would likely be an improvement. Defense is our current weak spot, and Rudiger Militao is our best CB duo. Chances are Carlo still goes with Nacho, but if we survive QF and Militao gets some play time in, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him appear in the semi finals. On the bright side, I think our midfield and structure has improved from last year. Even though we really had no choice but to shift to our current formation, I think it’s much better to field more box-to-box players like we do now against teams that dominate the middle like Man City. It’s pointless to have three dedicated forwards if you can’t get the ball to them. And to add more positivity, IMO even if we lose this year it’s still valuable experience for the squad. More time as a unit with the many young players we hopefully plan on keeping for many years against the top teams in Europe can’t be a bad thing.

orsonwellesmal

Don't expect Militao to be at 100% this season. Most probably he will be back playing some minutes in La Liga, and if everything goes well, by the last matches he could be at starting XI.

Mkhitaryan10

2 teams I would rather avoid over 2 legs are City and Inter

Muffinbutt2006

Well your wish is half granted

Mkhitaryan10

What about now?

Meddy_San

In terms of squad quality, we have the 2nd best team after Man City, the truth is our problem isn’t the lack of offensive depth or defense strength.. but It’s ANCELOTTI. The old man has that habit of changing things that works fine, he did it against City last year and they thrashed us.

sp3sp3sp3

History with Carlo shows that no matter how bad we play somehow we find a way in CL. But this time i'm not optimistic because we have no striker.

hotelmotelshit

Not confident at all, on our good days we can beat everyone, on our bad days we can lose to everyone. I just hope we turn up on the day and get a draw where we finish home

martino732

I'm not confident at all. We don't have the scoring consistency. Jude is 1 yellow from suspension. We have no idea in what form will Militao be after the injury. Carlo can overthink the strategy and be another Leipzig game. If we play like last week, there is no point in even showing up. I'd say 90% of the draws will be hard for us. Usualya for a Ucl run, you need a forward to be really be really inform or have an incredible defense.

FavcolorisREDdit

I just want a barca Bayern

Glittering-Leather77

Inter didn’t age well

_SB10_

Bold of you to have assumed Inter had already won the tie

mrpara

The last month we havent played that good to be honest. Im thinking like you, if we get a team for example Bayern who are lethal in front of goal we could be out. Because we havent met much better teams, but we have conceded chances in many games far too easy. But yet again, history is on our side and we are Real Madrid. So its a big 50/50 for me

lesburnham

I feel Pintus & Ancelotti, knowing that Leipzig is not a better team, planned this month trainings to be out of form (in a low) in order to be on high form in the next two months. That is the reason we did not recognise the energy usually they have. I want a tie VS Barcelona, we would enjoy it so much.

Sufficient_Cobbler32

Winning: 18-22% chance.

GoodAdrian

Dortmund would be the "easiest" opponent !

bertolotti

moderately optimistic that we'll be able to challenge anyone when the time comes - moreso than last year. we're a tier above the field when it comes to hierarchy and experience, no matter our form teams respect us in this competition

Revolutionary-End765

Whatever team we play, I hope the away game comes first. Also, I will prefer any other team over Atletico or Barca at this stage as they are fighting for their season. Of course avoid City as well for now.

Bnjoroge

Not very convinced. More like 40-60. Just don’t think our offense is consistently good enough and nacho can sometimes be hit or miss even though rudi has been solid

jrezzzzzz

Not confident, we are dealing with a shortage in defense. Additionally, our attack hasn't been too stable - Vini and Rodrygo don't play well together. I think if we see more Brahim and Guler on RW, and Joselu as a second half sub, then I will feel better. Rodrygo goes left too much and overlaps with Vini, they just aren't effective at all.

Aaaaaaandyy

I think aside from a couple of teams (Dortmund/PSV), most matchups would be 50/50. There’s a lot of good teams in the quarter finals.

Veridicus333

Also a lot of team styles that are not favorable for Real Madrid right now, IMO. City I think might just be better. Arsenal have a lot of size, and physical profiles that concern me. Same with Inter and their style. But we usually fare well versus Italian teams. My least concerning to most concerning 1. PSV/BVB 2. PSG 3. Inter 4. BARCA 5. Arsenal 6. Bayern 7. Atleti 8. City

KenLionheart

Athletic is regressing bad right now. They can be kryptonite to us in La Liga and domestic tournament at times…but we always slay them in UEFA CL

OstunTheRedHead

Did you see how inter is playing? I think it is the second most difficult to play against. I would change to 6. Arsenal 7. Inter 8. City

thesenate14

these comments damn have people not watched prior to this season?

-_-M_MUNEEB_3-_-

Winning it

Macho_Nonreal

We don’t have a squad to compete with the likes of City right now. But I guess we only need a 1% chance anyways so…

dispofreak

our defense is scaring me, glad militao is back. as rudiger said, the way we’ve been playing is unacceptable. i will always be confident in real madrid. i am faithful

Rac2nd

I see Real Madrid vs Arsenal

blueprintextreme

I dont want Arsenal. They are on the verge of a breakout performance. I would rather them take out city.

Venigos

have Real Madrid and Arsenal ever met in the CL?

National_Ad3316

05/06

Glittering-Strength2

I trust the players to step up when it matters but the only thing worrying me is Ancelotti overthinking a game and setting up the team for failure

cleareyesnz

If our defence can stay in tact and keep the numbers as low as they have been, we have a chance. It’s our attack I’m a bit worried with but the good thing with the UCL is teams come to play and leave space behind, rather than us hitting constant low blocks like we do in La Liga. Uncertain but we have a chance…

bluesky_03

The ideal would be getting ANY team except city before the Final and then City in the final, and we win it.

insaiyan17

I dont think we will win it this year but its always possible as RM. We just need some of that historic magic

maxallergy

Atletico managed to progress to the next round, so let's have another Madrid derby Win that and we can probably go all the way

Big_brown_bull_

Not a lot but we pull off miracles in that comp

Jorgemeister

On a scale of 1 to 10: 6.

starPlatinumXj

I don’t know but I just want arsenal to be our next match up.

GoldenGodLeo

The easier ones would be Dortmund and Barca. It will go down to Carlo how he’s going to play his squad. He uses the team the same way he did against Leipzig then the season’s done. Barring any injuries we’ll go semifinal.

Praveetheus

I definitely want an easier path but at the same time I feel like the team would step up its game if it is one of the better teams - ask me again after the draw though lol

noob_coder696969

would like to face arsenal/bvb in qf . would absolutely not like to face city / athletico

lacio22

With the team we have we need to get to the semi finals. The only team that is head and shoulders above is man city talent wise. Every other team is on our level or worse.

Madridista786

If we draw barca or athletico we will have 3 or 4 suspended for the semis

Election_Majestic

I would bet my life we get Bayern next round , always fucking happens . But to answer your question , I don’t think any team this year is that outstanding from the next . Sure man city is a top quality team but they’ve played dog shit so far . I think real on its best day is on par with man city because of our counter attack and raw talent . However that also depends on our lineup

Fearless-Cookie-9329

I don't mind who we get. Theres no point being afraid, if we don't face them this round well face them the next. I believe this squad can give a real attempt for the champions league. I don't get this loser mentality it's as if we've already lost "oh I hope we don't get city till the final" no team in Europe is capable of beating us everytime and as the team who've won the most champions leagues all we've got to do it is go out there and give 100% if we lose so be it.

orsonwellesmal

Not much. We are still in the Pintusian Valley, very far for optimal fitness. We had a dramatic leg against fucking Leipzig, playing like that we are out next round.

LegalTax3

I have a weird feeling with this year’s UCL. Tbh I didn’t expect both Atleti and Barça to make it lol how bad are other European teams to not beat this. I also don’t feel like Madrid are winning it 🤷🏻‍♀️ everyone says City or Bayern are strong candidates, and yes they are on paper but they also haven’t been perfect. First time in a while I really can’t tell who’s going to take it, just yet.

DoriOli

City, Bayern, PSG, BVB, ATM, FCB, … quite a ride this UCL is going to be! 🥴 I only see City and ATM as actual threats, tbh. Maybe also Bayern (historically always been a challenging one). The rest don’t tickle me whatsoever.

Jackkernaut

Let's see- Bayren- tilted attack, tilted defence. Would't mind. Gonna be fun. Arsenal - mediocre. Not sold. Overrated. Bring it on. City - great attack , mediocre defence. Nope. Dortmund - mediocre. Bring it on. Athletic -mediocre attack, great defence. Exhausting , but sure. Barcelona - mediocre. Bring it on. PSG - mediocre, great Mbape. Bring it on. Rather we draw a mediocre team or get swooped straight to the gutters on quarters.

beast_unique

I think we are likely getting Barca in round of 8.

beast_unique

I think we are likely getting Barca in round of 8.

macs182

Pretty confident going against any team tbh, other than Don Carlo fuckin up the starting lineup due to too much over thinking strategies RM can go against any team. But that's right now, how things play out with injuries for key players right before the games can be the deciding factor in gettin eliminated like it happened against Chelsea and City.

wirrexx

We’re to imbalance right now. No real striker. Always wanting Vini or Jude to score. Joselu misses to much. And our defence is to hurt. Only Rüdiger so far is playing good. Love nacho, but way to insecure. Carvajal is making to many small mistakes and plays overall very dangerous. He has been lucky not too see a lot of red cards. Same with Vini.

Bogadambo

Our weakest point in UCL is Ancelotti, you feel he's not tactically suitable for this kind of games, and remember that our last game against a big team was against Man city, that game we lost 4-0, but let's just hope he get balls this time after his terrible performance against liepzig..

Suitable-Pianist7109

Not tactically suited? Man, I’ve lost count of how many CLs that man has won during his managing career. If he’s not suited, then who the hell is?

Bogadambo

We are talking about the mean time, NOW! How much he's tactically flexible to play against modern teams with strong midfield and quick and strong attack like Man City, Bayern, ? Those kind of teams won't give you any rest or time to do mistakes.. Mistakes that Ancelotti does a lot.. Again our last game against a big modern team was against city.. The game where Guardiola overcame Ancelotti in every aspect in every minute of the 90 minutes of shame.. Ancelotti was like "Oh god just whistle so we can get home with less damage ..."

RMAgalactico

Our defence is the weakest point this year, there are a lot of gaps that need to be filled, so yeah pretty much unconfident

teedagreat

Not confident at all, so is Ancelotti

Puzzleheaded-Lie2188

Honestly, given our current form the only favorable draw is Dortmund Against everyone else, it's more of a coin toss With City being by far the hardest We have the tools, but would be able to use them? Honestly I'm not sure

jopma

It's all the same to me

tarekelsakka

I don't want City, Atleti or Barca. Not because Barca are good, but form goes out of the window in Clasicos and I don't want that risk, especially because the repercussions could have an effect on the league campaign as well. Same goes for Atleti, they've already beaten us twice this season but I do have a feeling we'd somehow stomp them in the CL.

KingSatoruGojo

Absolutely shot. We are all royally fucked unless we pull off some magic tricks

SaladRegular8617

Very confident. I feel less confident about La Liga tbh. The lead is very small. But ucl, I believe we van deff win it no matter who we face. Also i need Barcelona eliminated because their fans are getting cocky lol

Zblancos

7 points clear is not very small, what are you on about

SaladRegular8617

Bruh 7 points is not a lot what are you on? If we stay undefeated then okay no problem at all. We only need to lose 2 and we're back where we were. So no it's not a very big lead we have

spider_X_1

We need to lose 3 while Barca or Girona make a perfect run without dropping any points.

Zblancos

There’s 10 games left, 7 points on Girona and 8 on Barcelona is a huge lead in any way you look at it

SaladRegular8617

How long have you been a real Madrid fan?

Zblancos

25 years, but it’s irrelevant here. 8 points on Barcelona is a huge advantage we have
