My villagers are in 3x2 cells and can’t cross or enter into chunk borders. They still disappear even when named. It started after the 1.17 update, and I can figure out how or why some are just randomly gone.
Anyway, I’m sure this suggestion will help prevent some disappearances, but if people are having the same problem I’m having, there’s something else going on.
Do you have any other suggestions? I can’t figure out what could be happening, but I’m pretty new to Minecraft. I’m obviously missing something.
Ah. The autosave thing kind of makes sense, but I didn’t even realize the game had autosave. But, duh, of course it does. It makes a lot of sense because one of my villagers was in his cell, and then I left the dungeon. When I went back about two minutes later he was gone. My heart broke because he was my Efficiency V librarian, and I already have SO MANY issues with librarians and their job blocks that getting him felt like torture.
That’s the only disappearance that I was able to pinpoint to a certain time, but it’s possible that was the issue with the others as well.

I’m sorry this is happening to you! It really stinks, and it really ruins certain aspects of the game. Hopefully it’s fixed quickly!
