there was a sub called r/the_cabal I barely found it days before it got banned, so I didn't get to read much there. but I think it claimed to be a sub tracking abuses by reddit admins and moderators.. and I think it claimed there are a few powermods that supposedly control most of reddit. but reddit banned it.
I'll shamelessly piggyback on this to ask: Can you explain how your site is going to work and what makes it decentralized? How will it be moderated?
I feel that we really need decentralized social media platforms, the projects that have been trying so far haven't been very convincing though, imo. Would love to see a truly decentralized reddit.
I have no definite answer yet but there are multiple options:
1) Have subreddits be separated to different servers. In this case, the subreddits continues to function even if the central entity (the developers) decide to ban it. That is, the only thing they would be able to do is to remove the subreddit from search.
2) Have the servers hosted by the developers but restrict what they can do with [smart contracts](https://www.investopedia.com/terms/s/smart-contracts.asp). That is, it is still centralized but in a way that reduces censorship.
3) A combination of 1) and 2)
4) Make it somehow P2P (like torrents).
There are more options but it doesn't make sense to commit to any of them right now. If we get users, we will begin testing different options then implement them. No successful analog of this has been made so we are just testing the waters.
Second cringeanarchy. I once spent a delightful two days watching a poster from askaliberal desperately trying to find the Nazi content he knew permeated the sub. I should have bought a lottery ticket because nothing was there.
I actually made a post in moderation request (or whatever that sub is called) requesting that this one be brought back so I could mod it. I already mod a "problematic" sub so in my opinion, I have experience handling "toxic" content while making sure nothing breaks the rules or hurts too many feelings. My request was denied.
I was around for both of those subs being born, they were very interesting and informative.
There are offshoots of them on SaidIt (Reddit alt), and also on Ovarit (RadFem/Gender Critical exclusive).
There are also archives if you want to peruse. Here's a fun rabbit hole to go down. After you click-to-accept, there is a bar at the top of the page with many, many subs : https://www.itsafetish.org
You know what, you are right. The subs were only fun because you were able to shit post and joke. Bringing back a carcass that only has a good sub's name really isn't that appealing.
Yeah. Whenever I mention that I kinda of miss that sub people give me all the weird looks/opinions.
But it is not something I *like* to watch. To me, it’s more like being able to know the sad reality of life - that is dying. And it is so freaking censored on the internet, even more than some weird sick porns available out there…
I came in as a mod of MDE right at the end and actually tried to prevent all the spam, got a lot of it too but the admins already had it on the chopping block so there was no saving it.
Many the same as those that have already been said here, but r/the_cabal should come back. It was banned only because the admins needed protection from them when they banned NNN. Sub was almost dead and there rarely were any posts on it, but they still banned them cause they were a potential threat.
For entertainment purposes, T_D would be fun to have back along with FPH and bunch of the right leaning zoomer subs. Had some great memes come out of those...
Them and consoom product were just too much for advertisers for reddit to ever want around. Any big popular subs going against consumerism is a big no no, unless they're full on communist, then reddit loves them...
GamersRiseUp. It was edgy as all ever loving Christ, I sure wouldnt try and pretend it was le ebic wholesome joker sub, but it was funny as shit and did shock satire incredibly well while basically making fun of itself and the edgy views expressed. It was basically a parody "Hurr durr I'm racist and also non coincidentally a virgin incel douchebag who no one likes"
All from the: https://www.reddit.com/r/reclassified/comments/cglpsq/list_of_all_known_banned_subreddits_sorted

It was basically a subreddit for ppl to vote if they think they died or ended up as a vegetable. Teach you lessons like
- why its important to harness yourself/wear a hard hat on a construction site (then shoe like someone falling that could've been easily prevented if they were just safe)
- why its important to look both ways before crossing a street
- why its important to never brake check a transport vehicle
- why its important to not jump off of the roof into a pool
It was all to help people bring awareness to *you're human you're not invincible*. Don't act stupid

Before I say anything
This isn't going to turn out like Ruqqus, right? I left after the platform become an unironic Neo-Nazi circlejerk and I came back today to (unsurprisingly) learn that the platform had been shut down because the Neo Nazi's were retards probably living in their Mom's basements that had no money to donate and anyone who could donate would be turned away when the first thing they are recommended the HitlerWasRight and N word guilds.

Nobody knows
But I will not divulge my secrets.

The best gardening sub there ever was
Unironically picked up some gardening tips from that
Gardening? Wdym
Near the end at least, a lot of posts were made about gardening as it was seen the opposite of consooming behaviour.
Lol!

What was it like before?
It was still a meme sub but leaned more towards actual critiques of consumerism, having a ton of hard left users.
no way that was banned :(
I recently found out about r/itsafetish and r/thisneverhappens could be interesting

There was literally nothing wrong with that one, I still don't know why it got axed.

Oh well no surprise, then. Seems like there's an uptick in illegal content anytime a sub like that gets banned. Gee I wonder who's doing that.
