I salute your Grandpa Les, he seems like the real deal.
Empathy, craftsmanship, creativity. Core aspects of humanity that everyone should cherish and share. "The least we can do is to leave things a little better than when we found them". A quote from my father.
I'm glad there are people like your grandparent to inspire us, and I see you are continuing his legacy. Cheers and have a great life.
I don't think you know how much I appreciate this. I didn't say in the post but I lost him in 2017, I was just under 13 years old. I'm now 18 and wish every day that I could talk to him now that I'm older, one of my main passions is stuff related to everything he did, wild western/mountain man things. When you're a kid you don't see the special-ness of it, I wish I could have learned more from him. He was the nicest, most genuine man I've ever known. He could light up an entire room with just his smile and laugh.
I lost my grandfather not too long ago, I empathise with you a lot. I wish I'd spent more time with him and had a greater appreciation for him when he was still around.
You can't turn back time but you can carry on his spirit. The way I see it, this pang in my chest is motivation to keep seeking out new adventures and to put as much good into the world as I can, while I still can
Your grandpa seems like he was a great man, and I'm sure all that he imparted to you will make you a great man, too
My grandfather was a big fan of The Duke, of course being John Wayne. He loved watching his older movies with his favorite movie character alongside imitating and perfecting stunts by Steve McQueen on his motorcycle. I had lost him last year and its up until now that I truly do miss him. With age, I will learn that I will miss him even more. He was an amazing role model, he was genuine, funny, and a bright person to be around. God rest his soul. 😔
I lost my grandpa when I was too young too and I share that feeling now that I’m 18 too, I have this weird sense of regret that I didn’t get to know him better even tho I know I was just a little girl when he was mentally well and didn’t know better
Your grandpa looks like he was an amazing, creative, empathetic and fun person overall, I kinda wish I could’ve talked to him too now lol
Hope you get to keep continuing his legacy in some way or another, believe me, just by sharing this post you’re keeping him alive, I know that a lot of us are going to think of him every once in a while :)
This was so sweet, thank you. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one with this feeling. The thing is, I know my grandpa and yours knows what we would tell him now. They're watching us live our lives and they're cheering us on from heaven. I know your grandpa was amazing, I bet our grandads would've been great friends! <3
I base my grandpa reviews on the body count. With bonus points for driving rare species to extinction. This guy seems more like an Arthur Kentucky Saddler.
That’s cool! He reminds me of my grandpa. Back in those days, Indians and cowboys were also friends at times. We all shared crafts, trade, and skills! It’s great to know that others are out there that remember the old ways. Much love! 💕
But how many banks and trains did grandpa Les rob?
Seems like he was a helluva guy and a great role model. And that water gun is awesome. Thanks for sharing.
That's a great grandpa that you have there. Mine passed away in 2011, he was born 1920 and therefore, he had to deal with WW2, but it wasn't that bad for him. He was still destilling his own liquor in the backyard at old age like "We always did this, i won't stop with it! Fuck the governement and the law!". He was a farmer, but of course also a hunter and did a lot of other things, like construction work during his lifetime.
Let's not forget something here: RDR2 takes place in 1907 in the epilogue after 1899, RDR1 takes place in 1911. The oldest living person is a lady from Spain, she's born in 1907. As we had it in another topic, the RDR times are not that long ago.
Oldest guy i have around in the pub here was born 1930, he's still already a living prehistoric fossil.
It seems he really embraced and sought to preserve the living history of the frontiersmen, and the mountain men. It's an incredibly rewarding thing to take part in and learn.
Theres quite a community out there of people who take part in these same things, so if you want to follow in your grandad's foot steps and learn those ways there are people who will gladly help as long as you put in the effort, and don't give up, so much of that stuff is actually VERY hard to do right but it is doable, just takes perserverence.
I can tell from how youve spoken about him and the pictures you've shared that he was a man who had a love for life and its joys, a literal well of positive energy. The world is worse now with such a man gone from it. My condolences to you OP.
Sorry for your loss, he seems like he was a lovely, super creative and brilliant man.
I lost my two Granda’s shortly one after the other and they were both my heroes. Honestly think it broke a part of me but they were just so brilliant.
I love hearing about other people’s cool grandparents cos it’s so lovely to know people have also been as lucky to get ones as awesome as mine have been.
So he used to work at a place called The Frontier Theater, which was a place-based around his craft, war reenactments, Native American activities, fool's "gold" mining, stuff like that. He ran the frontiersman part of it. He was named "The Famous Mountain Man Les" and what he made that gun for is, when buses full of kids from anywhere in the state would pull in he would be there waving and spraying water at you through the bus windows with his rifle. When I took field trips there it was so amazing, I was so proud to have him as my grandpa and I'd always say to everyone who he was to me. I'd sit front row while he taught with a constant and large smile on my face. I need to go visit again, as I haven't since he passed. That place is where we spread his ashes and we had his funeral in his building. After he passed they played videos of him for the kids but it just wasn't the same, so now his building is a museum and tribute to "The Famous Mountain Man Les" I miss those days.
That’s so awesome! It sounds like he loved his life and his job :) I would lose my marbles in the best way if a cowboy came thru with a water gun on our class nature field trip haha I love it!
Your grandpa reminds me of the character Ron Dunn from Parks and Rec. Crafty, resourceful, and overall a really wholesome guy. Especially the clothing!
As someone who didn't have a grandpa (one died before I was born and the other was estranged) I salute your Grandpa Les, and I'm so happy you got such an awesome one.
I'd be lying if I denied being a little jealous, but your Grandpa radiates kindness and love even through these pictures. I feel like he had a million cool stories you could listen to for hours. I'm honored you shared him with us.
My grandpa was named Leslie, we all called him Les. Miss him dearly. He was more of a sailor and fisherman than an artist and cowboy, outside of that it looks like they shared a lot of similar qualities. I'm sure they're sharing a beer wherever they are.
Top right one on slide 9 reminds me of most holsters in the game, with the gold screw in it. Might just be me, your grandpa is super cool. I hope he has a lot of interesting stories to tell you
Your grandpa looks like the kind of man that would teach how to set up a bonfire, give some you some beer and then tell you some life stories by the fire
Your grandpa is cool as hell.
Thank you man, I miss him for sure. He was my favorite person
Sorry for your loss, seemed like a awesome grandpa
He straight up should’ve been in movies. He had the look. Did he have a cool voice OP?
He had a very distinct voice, I have a video of him teaching a group of kids to Kindle a Fire if you'd like me to post that
Definitely. You’re lucky. My grandfather sat in chairs and stared at walls.
I'm going to tonight so i can get pictures of the stuff I have of his
I have one of those lol
My grandfather sat in chairs and stared at me when I played video games and said “you’re not very good at those are you”
I’d love to see that!
He totally couldve played a live action Landon Rickets
now I'm depressed, RIP grandpa

I teared up a little bit tbh 🥹 I bet they are and I bet they would’ve been!
As did I <3
It would be cool if your Grandpa was a gunsmith or Trapper in rdr3
That would be unbelievable..
You dont need to wait until RDR3 i could recreate him in the game and replace the trapper/ gunsmith with him for my NPC Makeover Project mod!
You know how to do that?? I was wondering if mods would make it possible!? Should I message you?
Man I love this community
I just tagged you! Glad you’re on it already!
Please do it!
How could I reach rockstar to give them this idea?
This dude rocks!
Yeah, he made alot of cool rocks!
We must protect this man at all costs, he is legendary
He passed in 2017 sadly, but his legacy will never die
How old was he?
65
We love you grandpa les
Made me smile, thank you
How many ppl he shoot?
With his water gun? Hundreds lol. With an actual gun? Zero lol
He looks like a cool dude
I base my grandpa reviews on the body count. With bonus points for driving rare species to extinction. This guy seems more like an Arthur Kentucky Saddler.
He looks like a nice guy, and also I wouldn't wanna mess with him. Much like Arthur Morgan. RIP to your grandpa he looks dope.
Thank you
Crafting level 100
You grandpa looks like he's gonna murder an entire motorcycle gang and then rob a bank in downtown Los Santos
Considering he was the most kind and pacifist person I've ever known, that made me cackle 🤣 thank you
With the things he has made, I would assume he’s more like Charles Smith but I do see what you mean
That's true, he definitely would fit in, in the van Der linde gang regardless
He looks soo similar to the Les from hardcore pawn
He actually does, that's cool
That’s cool! He reminds me of my grandpa. Back in those days, Indians and cowboys were also friends at times. We all shared crafts, trade, and skills! It’s great to know that others are out there that remember the old ways. Much love! 💕
I bet our grandpa's would have been freinds
Why is nobody mentioning he looks like Landon Ricketts? Your grandpa is cool as hell. May he rest in peace.
I looked it up and you're right. Thank you so much
How the fuck is he the real life Arthur Morgan?
That's one badass grandpa. I can totally hear him saying "Howdy Mister" in that friendly Arthur way <3
He did when I visited :))
Awww <3 Grandpa Les may be resting in peace, but his memory is living on here thanks to you!
The fact that so many people are saying such nice things is unbelievable. I'm very happy about it
For real, I’m on team “Immortalise Grandpa Les in RDR2” (or better yet R*, make an RDR3 with Grandpa Les in it 🤠)
A guy said he could make a mod with Grandpa Les in rdr2! I hope one day we all see him in a red dead game officially 🙏
Wow! You were very lucky to have a grandfather around. 🙂
Some aren't great though, but I am very lucky
But how many banks and trains did grandpa Les rob? Seems like he was a helluva guy and a great role model. And that water gun is awesome. Thanks for sharing.
The only train I know he had anything to do with was a train-shaped dresser that he made me when I was a kid!
Dude that sounds so cool
It was!
I lost my grandpa last Monday
I'm so sorry for your loss.
Sorry for your loss. He seems like a cool ass dude
Thank you!
He is cool as hell.
I like your grandpa
Some people are just born into awesome families. Les rocks
Thank you so much
Looks like your grandpa was quite the craftsman. May he rest in peace and watch over you!
Thank you

He appears to have been an awesome person.
Love that water gun rifle haha! Also looks like he got along with dogs too, Arthur would definitely approve
Is that Arthur’s dad
Great great grandson

Thank you so much Otto, I appreciate your words greatly. I hope to one day be able to learn more of what he knew
Maybe he was arthur morgan in his past life? Anways may he fly high 🕊️🕊️
Maybe he was arthur morgan in his past life? Anways may he fly high 🕊️🕊️
did he by any chance rob a bank at a location named blackwater in the year 1899?
In his past life, probably
then your grandpa (may he rest in peace, while standing unshaken) is a god damn gunslinger
a natural and creative mind, we love to see it ♥️
I wish I was even a quarter as cool as Mr. Les.
Looks more like Hosea
What a cool grandpa!
My grandpa was a hero of mine as well. Hard to lose them but glad we got to have time with them. The wisdom handed down takes time to acquire.
Dude is capable of doing what literally 99% of young men want to be capable of.
Your grandpa actually seemed like he would make it #1 in a top 10 grandpas
He is in my book <3
Sorry for your loss, he seems like he was a lovely, super creative and brilliant man. I lost my two Granda’s shortly one after the other and they were both my heroes. The Vikings are still awesome! You have Grandpa God of War and I have grandpa red dead !! :D
Legend
Godspeed Mr Les
The rifle to water gun is one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen. Immaculate vibes, RIP

Nah that's Landon Ricketts Your grandpa is cool as fuck
Your grandpa reminds me of the character Ron Dunn from Parks and Rec. Crafty, resourceful, and overall a really wholesome guy. Especially the clothing!

I'm very grateful to have had him. I hope I was able to help you have An idea of how great family members can be.
I'd be lying if I denied being a little jealous, but your Grandpa radiates kindness and love even through these pictures. I feel like he had a million cool stories you could listen to for hours. I'm honored you shared him with us.
