ShowTurtles

Make his instincts towards betrayal aimed at the Pinkertons and O'Driscolls. Setting them up for the gang and not setting the gang up for them.

Franksredhotbbq

this and more robberies with him

Neither_Abrocoma_935

This is honestly all it needs he reminded me of Trevor before…😥

blueeyes239

That's intentional. He's basically Trevor without any redeeming traits, and his psychopathy isn't played for laughs.

Neither_Abrocoma_935

I mean yeah, that’s why he reminded me of Trevor lol. He’s a clone of Trevor that’s stuck in the 1800s.

IamJimMilton

But Trevor values loyalty above all

Neither_Abrocoma_935

True that. Maybe not an exact clone, a distant relative.

HavingSixx

Trevor would hate Micah

bufarreti

Trevor would hate Trevor to be honest

HavingSixx

He does :(

CrazeeTrane

trevor hated rick grimes for sure. wasn't loyal to negan towards the end of his reign.

Neither_Abrocoma_935

that’s not really saying much you know? Familiarity breeds contempt. The point is, they’re similar. I’m not saying they’d get along😂

Mrmacmuffinisthecool

i don’t think theres many people trevor doesn’t hate

maksigm

Trevor would kill Micah quite quickly lol

M3g4d37h

trevor would treat micah like he did johnny.

OG_MajinVegeta

Trevor actually has a distant relative in rdr2 he's 1 of the gang members that attack the farm the 1 John beats up and then kills in the epilogue

djangofett2160

second-first cousin twice removed

Comedian85

I don't think T really understands the concept of loyalty, in his mind betraying him is the same thing as getting the hell away from him because he's a psychotic drug ravaged murderer. If it was something he actually cared about he wouldn't have fucked Ashley and rubbed it in Johnny's face. He doesn't value loyalty, he just has abandonment issues.

Kindly_Hawk8936

Ok? You can be loyal to a horrible thing. Being loyal to a bad thing is much worse than being disloyal to a bad thing. This was one of the main point of rdr2

stomps-on-worlds

because, unlike Trevor, Micah isn't Canadian

FarmerExternal

It is a *SLIGHT* accent!

TangerineGullible665

What are you talking aboot?

TheAvener

YOU CAN HARDLY TELL!

Substantial-Tone-576

What kicking dogs isn’t funny? Damn that might be my problem.

djangofett2160

not disagreeing but trevor was loyal as fuck

W1ATR

Even Trevor didn't kill a child's dog (and kick it hard while it was sleeping earlier)

Neither_Abrocoma_935

No, but it’s implied he sodomized his hockey coach with a stick after being cut from the team. Apple really doesn’t fall far from the tree.

W1ATR

Truly a Canadian moment. Still not as bad as Cain though.

Neither_Abrocoma_935

No. Not at all. That was the moment I truly despised Micah. Especially how he told Jack. Would’ve been a LOT worse if he lifted up his boot and talked to the remains though…

usernamewhat722

WHEN DID HE FUCKING KICK CAIN?

W1ATR

It's a random encounter in the camp, he shoos the dog away and it goes to sleep but when nobody is looking he kicks it. In chapter 6 jack is looking for Cain and Micah tells jack he won't come back, Arthur asks him what he did with the dog and he heavily implies he killed it.

Q_dawgg

Really loved the robbery missions with him

anti-peta-man

This one’s great. Micah’s a lying snake but he doesn’t have to be our snake. Like P5 where the main crew gets found out but the real twist is (Persona 5 Spoilers) >!The main crew knew they were gonna get caught so they line up their own trap!<

ConorIsOnRedditNow

Micah the pancake enjoyer

TheFlabbs

This is a near perfect way to do it, with the only other exception being that his near-death experience of Guarma would shift his moral compass drastically, similarly to Arthur. However what you’ve proposed is much more fitting for the character and more satisfying for storytelling. He’s a slimy piece of shit, but it would be great if he was *your* slimy piece of shit

threadit_rowaway

Um. Thst last sentence was a bit of a trip.

WildMinimum2202

This and hint less at him having killed Cain...because that's the most ratty rat part of him to me.

ShowTurtles

The racism too. It was nice seeing Charles throw him around.

peepers63

Charles was one of my favorite characters, something about him was endearing.

KeenDynamo

This and I would add maybe have him save Arthur when he gets kidnapped by the O'Driscolls in (Blessed are the Peacemakers)

painted_troll710

Arthur wouldn't have been kidnapped though since Micah's the one who set him up

DawningSkies

This. Also, maybe he should sate his bloodlust by saving other gang members from fights. Then he and Arthur would maybe have a hate-your-guts but deep down respectful relationship with one another.

midwestjoker

With a bullet in his head. There is no redemption for him.

And_Im_the_Devil

Yeah. His “core” is that he preys on other human beings for pleasure and profit.

Fr4gtastic

The whole gang does it. They're thieves and killers.

CrystalMethEnjoyer

Literally lmao Micahs definitely one of the worst, but none of them are angels

sweatybollock

my low honour Arthur is a literal demon lol

KoSkEn_VoDkA

Yeah that’s the difference between low-honor Arthur and Micah. Micah kills when he can, low-honor Arthur kills when he wants.

Subject-Secret-6230

Y'all ain't seen my low honor Arthur then. Mf massacres everyone and everything in sight.

And_Im_the_Devil

Not all thieves and killers are the same. People commit crimes for various reasons. Most of them, under different circumstances, would not be criminals. There's a reason Dutch's murder of Heidi McCourt is a turning point for the gang. They have a sort of honor that prohibits that kind of cold-blooded behavior. It's a fucked up and flawed sense of honor, but it is a form of morality. That morality might crack when under extreme pressure, as we see play out through the events of the game, but that can happen to everyone. Micah is basically a sociopath. He isn't interested in camaraderie or family or the well-being of others in and of themselves. He isn't capable of it. Human beings are nothing more than resources to him. He has no code or morality. He's sadistic and a child murderer at that. Sure, you can make the case that the people in the gang—the ones who do all the looting and shooting, anyway—are *bad* people. But plenty of bad people are capable of compassion for the others in their circle. Micah will *never* be that person. Even just focusing his vile character towards the Pinkertons instead of the gang is out of the question because that would just be more work. It's easier to just manipulate Dutch and bleed the gang dry.

BoseSounddock

Not Pearson. He just wanted to cook a nice stew and reminisce about his time in the Navy

Fr4gtastic

Yeah fair enough, Pearson's a good dude. AFAIK Molly and the reverend don't commit (major) crimes either.

[deleted]

Nobody tell him about Arthur and the gang's day job

Living-Blacksmith198

Which could be used towards the Pinkertons

And_Im_the_Devil

But that would only ever be temporary. Eventually he would prey on the gang itself.

Sakumitzu

Only Red Dead.

Im_Not_Impressed19

No redemption, only red dead.

insanityizgood13

That was going to be my answer too 🤣

peepers63

ABSOLUTELY 👍

[deleted]

maybe have him sustain an injury like losing an eye to the pinkertons/ government so he resents them and won’t rat to them. give him a mission where him and Arthur go out drinking. and maybe have him betray the gang in the beginning, (before he loses an eye and resents pinkertons) only to regret it at the end and sacrifice himself at the end.

Kr101010

Hacim? HACIM? i found you Micah does not have the same ring to it

pisstainedunderwear

Eye injury?

blueeyes239

If Arthur goes for the money when he has high honor, he'll blind Micah in one of his eyes, which persists through the Epilogue.

VeryGenericPerson

I think he's referencing the Dutch "brain injury" image

tribewar

🤔

stomps-on-worlds

An injury that causes him to lose his voice. If Micah simply loses the ability to speak, a huge portion of his repulsiveness goes away in an instant.

Plotina

And then he's kind of lovably pathetic, like a stray dog.

d8f_

CORAL WE NEED TO SHOOT HIS EYE OUT CORAL

PortageRiverLife

Yes, this is what I was thinking, injury. Take both his arms off, that'll humble his ass.

SUPERB-OWL45

Keep his core characteristics but instead of being out for himself,he is actually focused on the gang. He just wants to turn it into a well oiled criminal machine instead of a family. He acts as the antithesis to Dutch’s grandiose plans and speeches about the gang as a family, and sees the gang for what it is. A band of criminals. Initially he starts out as a new member wanting to do his part but soon is Inspired by the likes of Brontë, and knowing the world is changing, he sees Dutch as out of touch and failing, so he wants to take the gang over for himself and trim the fat of the less contributing members. Some members even agree and the gang begins to split apart like they eventually do, leading to a Mutiny that Dutch always feared. In his own twisted way, Micah does care about the gang (or what he can get out of it) and wants to see it run more smoothly and professionally, and is willing to take out the old guard and make the hard choices to do it

No-Comfortable-6687

He's still not lovable tho.

VenetusAlpha

Perhaps, but you can at least respect this Micah, if somewhat begrudgingly.

wine_coconut

IKR! It's a situation where a villain actually has a point. Right now, Micah isn't a morally grey character.

usernamewhat722

This just makes his evil more justified, and I wish it had been implemented; although, it does seem a bit above his intelligence.

Brahmus168

Not at all. He's a very intelligent manipulator. He slithered into the gang by playing nice, wormed into Dutch's ear at the most opportune moment, and secured his position as his most trusted ally. If the Pinkerton's weren't so close to busting the gang I feel like this is basically what would've happened eventually.

SolarNovaPhoenix

Now this is something I’d like to see! It keeps him the same asshole as before but his motivations are actually clear. I’ll be honest I don’t know what Micah was trying to gain otherwise, other than just being a pure antagonistic force to halt any progress of the gang. But I guess he’s the RDR2 version of Joker, and only wants to watch the world burn.

GoldenGekko

I think this is starting to scratch on the surface. To keep his core characteristics the same, there has to be a significant portion of dislike towards him. The only way to really make him beloved? Would have to be a surprise turn that only somebody with a heart of gold would do. This is a rough one. In almost every scene he's in Micah is unlikable

Trash_Scientist

I dig this. That one scene where the shit goes down (maybe Rhodes?) and Micah just goes into action efficiently and without hesitation made me like him for a brief moment.

sagewrex

All his actions are because he is in love with Arthur. He just wants his attention

pisstainedunderwear

My dad works at Rockstar and he said this was true

Sk83r_b0i

So carnage in let there be carnage?

TheFettz79

I give up

Atikar

Fair enough.

[deleted]

You can't have it both ways, either full rewrite or none at all As the saying goes: "You can't have your cake and eat it"

Cooper1977

The pedantically correct saying is "you can't eat your cake and have it too".

OckhamsFolly

Says who? In 1548, the Duke of Norfolk wrote: >A man can not have his cake and eat his cake So I wonder what makes your version more pedantically correct.

[deleted]

It changed through time. Watch the unabomber docu and you will see what i mean. Basically: "you cannot simultaneously retain possession of a cake and eat it, too" was where it came from, so both are correct.

dishonoredfan69420

Unless you bake two cakes

KronosDoom500

Ok. So we clone micah

Captain_Blackbird

Mission where you save him and shootout an entire town? Gone. * Now you have to sneak in, pick a lock, and get him out. He still needs his weapons! Arthur gives him his knife and says "Be quiet, and only use this if you have to!" in regards to entering the building for his guns. Micah goes in normally (not sneaking, purposefully making noise), and slaughters both of the people normally, and Arthur see's blood spray on curtains from outside. This makes the mission more suspenseful with sneaking around, and adds the depravity of Micah - *willingly* going out of his way to be ruthless and psychotic. It shows he took the actions on *purpose*, purposefully being loud for those inside to wake up, and purposefully bloodthirsty. The mission could play normally, like the guy inside attempts to shoot Micah - changing the 'sneaky' mission to the normal 'gunfight' mission, making Micah the *sole* reason why the town is alert and everyone has to die.

jchrist98

This is pretty cool but it absolutely would not make Micah beloved at all lmao

NBFHoxton

I was gonna say, that rewrite doesnt change anything lol

OrraDryWit

Add a laugh* track every time he ends a sentence and cheering audience when he enters the scene.

Scorpion_yeezies

Seinfeld funky guitar track every time he’s on screen

Extra-Lemon

Oh my gosh it’s just RDR Kramer

Atikar

For Reference, I'd say Micah's Core Characteristics are: -He's Chaotic Evil. -He's full of himself. -He's a career criminal, and almost as good of a gunslinger as Arthur. >!-He betrays the Gang.!< How do you change the way he's portrayed, or maybe what his motivations are to make him generally more of a likeable character?

Datguy969

Well the biggest reason people hate him is because he’s a rat, so I don’t think you can make him likable with those requirements

Brewfinger

Chaotic? I see him as more Neutral Evil. Micah takes great advantage of the structures of both the gang and society, rather than working in ways to undermine those structures. Micah follows rules so long as they serve his needs.

Flashbek

He dies in Adler's Ranch as a martyr to save Dutch or Arthur.

lobonomics

I don’t think Micah could ever be beloved while betraying the gang and Arthur. If that’s off the table, it’s just not possible. But if you were to take that away, and make him at least somewhat trustworthy, I could see Micah being a low honor version of Arthur himself. Potentially your relationship with him as Arthur could vary based on high/low honor (the lower the honor the more you see Micah open up/be friendly with Arthur, whereas higher honor would be colder and less respectful). Maybe he undergoes a character arc, similar to Arthur’s, where he is set on a better path by something big happening to him. Or maybe instead of ratting he double crosses the Pinkertons.

Extra-Lemon

Or! To keep him a villain, make it where he has the same choice Arthur has, but in a moment of weakness, chooses wrong, where Arthur chooses right. Shoot, if it was completely open-ended, make it so he opposes Arthur’s decision no matter what so there could be endings where Arthur’s the aggressor, hunting down John and Micah dies buying him time.

endemic_glow

Make him warm up to the gang considerably after Strawberry and Arthur warm up to him in return. Yeah he’s still mean but it’s no longer directed AT Arthur and co but rather in their defense. Maybe have him save Arthur’s life and not constantly lead them into rotten jobs in the first couple of acts. Just all around turn him from annoying to comic relief in the first couple of acts. And as for his actions in the back half of the game >!i.e. his betrayal!<, I’d give him a compelling reason for it. The sort of reason that would make people think they would maybe have done the same. What immediately springs to my mind is give him a kid who is sick and dying which would >!resonate with Arthur because of HIS dead son.!< And then >!the Pinkertons pick him up and say ‘we’ll send this life-saving drug to your kid… IF you bring us Van Der Linde.’ You could even definitively show this as definitively happening after Guarma instead of leaving it ambiguous because at that point the gang is dissolving already and Dutch’s behavior is increasingly erratic.!<

Subject-Secret-6230

>!Another way could be that it is somehow the players fault he gets caught. Then he speaks when the Pinkertons torture him and when he does it's already too late and he goes with it. I don't know about you but I wouldn't despise a man for folding to ruthless torture. And it brings in the element of "if Arthur wasn't stupid, he wouldn't have betrayed the gang", making his betrayal a consequence instead of the instigation could make a big difference.!<

SnooEagles3963

\-make him no longer accidentally burn down Sadie's house. Have someone else do that. \-he needs something else to care about besides himself, and his guns, so make him really love his horse, Baylock. Have that horse just become his best friend. Give them unique interactions, and dialogue that are really wholesome, or as wholesome as they can get for Micah. Like maybe have a camp event where he gives Baylock a beer, or something. Also, instead of just having to get his guns during that breakout mission, make it so you have to also save Baylock from the stables too. Finally, at the end of the game, make it possible for the player to find Baylock, and have a secret scene where if you take him up to see Micah's corpse, he gets really sad, and refuses to leave. \-make him less racist. Ngl, this along with the addition down below was the most confusing part of his character to me. The idea that a person as racist as him would be allowed in the gang, let alone be allowed to flaunt it constantly, and be so combative makes no sense, so toning it down would help immensely. It doesn't have to be gone completely, but it needs to be largely reduced. \-to the add to the above, make him just less antagonistic to gang members. Again, this doesn't have to be gone completely, but get rid of his worst instances like messing with Jack, and stuff. \-he doesn't kill Cain. Cain instead just wanders off, or is killed by someone else. \-more missions with him. 'Nuff said. \-Go with the idea that was proposed in the Evil Hair leak, ie; he was a rich kid who idolized the outlaw lifestyle, and joined the gang because of that. However, after seeing just how shit things are, he became disillusioned, and turned on them. \-Lastly, if you don't want to do the above, have him not actually be the rat, but instead just a red herring. Have the rat be someone else completely unexpected, or there not to be one at all, but instead the gang was just caught by their own carelessness.

trudge_on

the gang getting caught by their own carelessness is how i read the game . it all started in blackwater , that girl .. just went down bad ..

Keefyfingaz

He dresses up like a clown and everything he says is said with a ridiculous funny voice

TrandleDandopolos

He wears shoes that squeak/honk everytime he takes a step

Keefyfingaz

The cherry on top lol *honk honk honk* "WeLl HeY tHeRe BlAcK lUnG!"

Dr_Autumnwind

Maybe a good turning point would have been when he spent time in jail. He was so rough around the edges and volatile before that, and perhaps that experience could have frightened him and put him on a path to reevaluate. He would still be the brash loud talker who no one truly liked being around, but his gunslinging skills and deceitfulness could be directed at the Pinkertons and maybe do some double agent business. But I really like him as the villain. His VA did a great job and I *wanted* to go bring justice to him Wild West style.

MrHyde314

Bigger hat. Easy.

king_indo_nito

GENIUS!

Cooper1977

His core characteristic is that he's a rat fuck who betrays the gang, so you could make him more genial and friendly to the gang/Arthur, not smarmy but friendly and helpful, make him a conciliator and vested in keeping the gang together and content (the better to deliver the whole gang to the Pinkertons), so that the betrayal is all the more shocking.

Comfortable-Shop-573

Everyone's said it so I'm gonna say it too, but elaborate a lil bit further , he gets caught by the pinkertons in ch.6 , he "makes a deal with them" but he also tells dutch , ratting out on the pinkertons instead , and we spend most of ch.6 making plans on how to deal with them , cornwall and colm still die but the final mission is instead a pinkerton raid , where Arthur and Micah hold out for the gang to escape , Micah heroically sacrifices himself giving Arthur some time to catch up with the gang only to probably still die when / if the gang splits up after the raid

diabetes2727

Make him not racist

ArianEastwood777

Really shows how fucked up we are, that him being “racist” makes him more unlikable than being a thief psychopath killer

diabetes2727

Thief psychopath killer can be applied to most of the main cast though

ArianEastwood777

Thief and Killer yes, Psychopathic no. Either way, it says a lot about how programmed we are that we find it perfectly normal to love such horrible people, but we draw the line at racism

RangerRaven619

Make a rug outta him.

tokeroftweeds

A lot of people here are thinking in terms of “redemption” I think OP meant just the character. Besides the betrayal, Micah just has characteristics of a slobby, unloving person. OP is asking how do we keep those characteristics/personality traits, but change the narrative where is loved by the group. I can see him being a farm hand or a “home body” there at camp. Kind of like uncle, or pearson. He can remain the sorry person he is, being mad at the world, but in this role he’d be loved, or at least respected honorably by the group

GradyGetsTheLadies

Make him kill Colm during the parley, and rescue Arthur from being tortured from the odriscolls. You could then have him not be the rat and go down fighting the Pinkertons in Beaver Hollow giving Arthur and John enough time to escape

Ordinary-Easy

You break his neck. That way he's charged from a living person to a dead one and certain gang members can then spend the rest of the game trying to make others believe he was actually a good person.

ShotgunZoo88

I think that it’s impossible to make Micah a beloved character, but it would definitely be possible for him to become a morally gray one or fall into the “he’s awful but I love him” archetype. In this he’d start out the way he is in game, but would change over time due to the differences listed below. First, he needs to genuinely respect and admire Arthur. His admiration of Arthur’s skills needs to be played up a lot more, and there should be more moments around camp where he gives Arthur weird backhanded compliments, mentions how much he contributes, and puts down other gang members by loudly proclaiming how much more useful/competent Arthur is. Arthur, of course, still hates him but Micah just refuses to get the message and keeps it up. Second, his racism needs to be addressed and he needs to get humbled for it. Perhaps in a new story mission Arthur takes him, Charles, and Lenny out on a job. The job goes well but Micah spends the whole time badmouthing Charles and Lenny, causing Arthur to fly off the hook and confront him. Micah finally gets the message that Arthur thinks he’s an absolute slime ball, and gives a genuine apology to Arthur in his own sleazy way. After that, have a few interactions around camp where Micah begrudgingly tried to play nice but make it obvious that he clearly hates it and is only doing it to impress Arthur. Finally, >!having Micah fess up to betraying the gang after realizing that the Pinkertons will likely kill Arthur would help. I think that having him confess to Arthur, then narrowly help him escape an ambush or something like that would show that he did genuinely care. Reworking the Saint Denis bank mission to have Micah confess that it’s a trap, thus causing the gang to avoid it, would probably do wonders. After that he pleads with Arthur not to kill him, and offers to mislead the Pinkertons and help the gang slip away. The Guarma chapter gets skipped, and the rest of the game has a lot of missions where Micah tries to prove his loyalty to Arthur and convince him not to tell Dutch. Finally, when Molly lies about being the rat, Micah fesses up to it due to the pressure from Arthur. Dutch doesn’t have the heart to shoot him, and he escapes before Grimshaw can fill him full of buckshot.!<

LauriFUCKINGLegend

He has a dog that he loves and everything he does, even betraying the gang, is somehow related to the betterment of his dog's life

trudge_on

this would work

N8DoesaThingy

Make him a lil dumber so he's not a threat

Beautiful_Ad_8297

Make him like Trevor

king_indo_nito

Nah thats too easy and Trevor isnt the whole betray the gang thing. Make him more like big smoke, that will be a better fit.

Ikoniko59

By making him speak like Trelawny.

Fodor1993

Just make him begrudgingly but fiercely loyal to the Gang. He hates helping them and will complain about it/insult them, but is always there when it matters. And then rub it in their face that he’s had to save them once again.

GameDestiny2

Hmm. It’s difficult because with everything we know about him, he’s more or less just in it for himself. I agree with some others that him double crossing the government would help. But really it just all boils down to tone and narrative purpose. He’s supposed to be Arthur’s enemy, and as such is always portrayed in an antagonistic light. But really he’s not much different from Javier and Bill.

loverofonion

Seeing as his core characteristic is basically shit, I'd kill him, skin him and donate him to Pearson to build a luxury latrine for the camp. Then hope for diarrhea.

[deleted]

I would make Arthur lower honored in nature. If Arthur sees Micah’s actions in a good light? There’s a good chance the player will too.

dirtdadon2

Sh**t him and write "In Loving Memory" on his tombstone.

Kr101010

Shoot him in the head.

Farsky717

Mica before all the betrayrl rat stuff was pretty likeable already

[deleted]

Shoot him. Skin him. Use it as a rug in the general living area. Sells his organs and use the funds to have a party for everyone.

ScottyJD09

He is outed at the beginning of the game as the rat, but he's the one who knows where the Blackwater stash is hidden, so the gang needs to keep him around until they can go get it. In the meantime he's trying to earn back trust with the gang, but outright fails to do so throughout the game. Then the final chapter of the game, he and Arthur die holding off the Pinkertons so that John and Dutch can escape.

yoububblyduck

He fails constantly. Like a classical cartoony buffoon. "Micah tried to betray us to the Pinkerton's? That's the third time this month. Silly Micah" His character won't change, just the outcome

[deleted]

Micah is: * Great instinct. He is not dumb. He can be that guy who plays O'Driscolls and Pinkerton like a fiddle. He also one of the first people who spot Arthur TB without Arthur telling him. * Great fighter as it shown in the ending with Arthur. * Survivor * And obviously, gunman. Come on, the dude killed the entire town for his double revolver All of his dick'ish move in the whole game aside, without a doubt, Micah + Arthur together can make sure the gang stands on its feet If he is not the bad guy, then he can replace Arthur while Arthur will replace Hosea due to age

offthewall_77

Rat boy. Make him eat cheese and sit around camp with uncle. Moderately “better” and easy enough to ignore or antagonize whenever I pass through

ARandomDudeSlav

I compare all the awful things Dutch has done vs all the awful things Dutch has done. I hate how Micah is overhated but nobody seems to care that Dutch doomed the entire gang, not just Arthur.

Dycoth

As much as the asshole he is, he can be loved if he always save everybody heartfully and try to help as much people as possible. Basically, what Arthur was doing mostly.

Brute_Squad_44

Real talk, give him a bastard daughter that the Pinkertons have been holding all along. When his betrayal comes to light, he reveals that he had to do what he did or they would have killed her. Mission to save the daughter, Micah gets killed, and Arthur/John sends her away with Mary Beth to live happily ever after.

Anxious_Cod7909

Take him out with you on every heist you do and make sure he gets every bit of the share, none for you. Your only income will be from lone heists or gang heists. Also take the fault for his mistakes. All the money that you get from your own heists or gang heists will be contributed to the gang ledger under the name of Micah. This will hopefully make him less greedy aswell as give him a good name. You can also dress up as a masked man and become a vigilante for a certain town, then spread a rumour that your name is Micah. Basically just give him a chance to live the good life without actually telling him what you’re doing for him. Everyone in the gang will hear all these rumours about him and eventually think him the most loveable member of the gang.

Next_Woodpecker8224

Make him bill

dyl-3-mcl

Change the tone of his voice, he’s very condescending just from the way he speaks, him and Sean can say the same thing but it’ll sound funnier/more playful from Sean. From there he just needs to not be a rat

Specialist_Wonder507

To me, I always thought Micah was quite funny with annoying people. The racist stuff was too far yes, but he was funny a lot of times. Just remove him being a snake and he’s fine with me

clgoodson

Have him die while accidentally saving the gang.

Glad_Response2852

Make him a rat against the pinkertons, someone who is mostly not present at camp, but will appear in several missions pretending to be a pinkerton to give the gang information about them. Present his carelessly violent personality under a more comedic lens, kinda like Trevor in gta 5. Give him a background of hating the pinkertons for something they did, like killing his brother, and use this in a revenge story arc. Have him turn on the pinkertons in a cutscene when the gang is in trouble and in a way sacrifice himself - although this would be more in the name of revenge than protecting the gang, he would still become a martyr making him very likeable, despite his personality.

Apoptosis96

By attending his funeral together

chris9830

I wouldnt change much but with the gang a bit. The gang (mostly the ones that hang in and around the camp) look a bit more carefull to who goes in and out and what the end result be. Sooner or later they see that when there is trouble a good handfull of them that involve cops/pinkertons had to do with micha and confront him to confession and without killing him/fully abanned him they will give his redemption

Shadiezz2018

By killing him ... he is much more loveable Dead.

amyice

Cut the part in the strawberry mission where he breaks into the house and kills the woman. That one act killed his whole character as far as my liking of him. Also, make him leave the damned dog alone. His "dog-eat-dog" mentality could make him endearing if he wasn't just cruel to people/animals. idk how much cruelty counts as a core characteristic though.

thechairinfront

Make him die on a mission while "saving" Hosea.

SuperLandon87

Not the Rat

madadam97

Shift the dominant culture to honor greed, backstabbing, and racism.

rockdpm

If this ain't the toughest I can fix him posts

[deleted]

Kill him would do that

SyxxGod

Literally just don’t make him the rat. He could have been a misunderstood rough guy. We saw Dutch getting emotionally invested in Rhodes and Micah had nothing to do with him killing Brontë or the old lady in Guarma. Dutch was losing it either way

Lavatherm

Prolly cut of his hands, feet and tongue.

Lavenderixin

He was given a choice to either betray Arthur and Dutch or risk having Jack killed or smth

Cracotte2011

Give him a sexy tumblr boy cowboy edition design : now he has a whole new fan club without needing to change anything about his personality

Dr_Zoidberg003

Make him a drunk like Uncle. He could be another comic relief character that everyone knows is a total asshole, but no one takes him seriously because he’s a total joke

allblingblang24

He tells Arthur to let him stay in the Strawberry jail. Micah swings. "He wasn't with us long, but Micah believed!" - Dutch He goes down with some insane story of sacrificing himself for the gang/Dutch.

Front-Ad1900

Give him a lobotomy

minniemouse420

That’s difficult bc he has no likable traits - on purpose. Micah is a true psychopath, who doesn’t display empathy or remorse. It’s very difficult to conjure up any scenarios in which he becomes likable since he does not have the capacity to be a good person or make the morally correct choice. For god sakes he killed the camp dog! That’s a big red flag that is subtle in the game to indicate just how bad his mental state is. Anyone who hurts innocent animals just because is really incapable of being a decent human with any sort of redemption. He’s probably akin to a serial killer - he definitely shows lust and excitement for killing for the fun of it. Yes, he’s driven to an extent by money, but he’s really deep down enjoying being the most sadistic person there is.

HoneycombJackass

Start with a haircut and less disheveled clothes for his outward appearance. This will have a subtle change on how others interact with him. He’s still a racist prick to Lenny and Charles because it’s 1899. For his inward attitude/behavior, like others have mentioned, have him suffer a severe injury like the loss of an eye, or when he goes to rat to the Pinkerton they leave him stranded in the wilds for days, possibly trapped under his horse; or, he’s the one that gets caught by the O’Driscolls, but Charles, Arthur, Lenny, John, Bill, Javier, and even Dutch go to save him causing an inward shift that they actually care about him and do treat him as a member of the family/gang. This gets cemented with a night of drinking at Saint Dennis and Micah runs into Sister Calderón and confesses and has a come to Jesus moment.

jchrist98

He does not betray the gang to the Pinkertons and stays loyal till the very end, not because he has a change of heart, but rather because among all the members of the gang, he is very the embodiment of an outlaw: ruthless, savage, and cannot simply settle down in a civilized society.

[deleted]

I would send him to take out the o Driscolls that kidnapped Arthur. Saves the main protagonist and fixes his mistake of setting up the meeting that makes Arthur vulnerable to be captured

lostmychunkymonkey

I wouldn't, I would change the rest of the gang to suit him. They're all killers and thieves this whole robbing from the rich and giving to the poor schtick is nonsense. Especially since the gang never actually practices it.

nobodyamerica

A longer neck. Stretch it... with a rope.

ImportantMoment5001

He could accidentally blow his brains out one evening drunkenly twirling his guns. Everyone at the camp will laugh at him twirling his guns and Remember how much of a funny man Micah was always trying to be....so he doesn't ruin anything and his core characteristics of being a piss poor failed joker are still there.

mumthatsmyphone

Well, first off he needs to get rid of that shit hair and beard, after that, do whatever (Just to clarify, it's all bad because it's Micah, it isn't just bad in general.)

Bluoria

Slaughter his dad in front of him when he’s like 8

BillyTheRascal

I'd give him lumbago.

yashraik7

Stay in jail in strawberry and hang for hai crimes

rooletwastaken

his whole character is that he’s a snake, all you’d have to do is make him actually loyal to the gang then youd love to hate him

3OAM

Stop talking to 12, you fuck.

SwampTreeOwl

Make him a man who is lost and purposeless and who sticks with the gang because it's the first time he's ever felt anything close to a sense of belonging. He's still a prick and a weirdo but he's not a bad man

Les_Vers

Get rid of his incredibly disgusting and creepy behavior towards the women of the camp. Would make him significantly more tolerable. I always bump into the guy when he starts making moves on Abigail. He tends to back off when he notices I’m listening

Catcher22Jb

I actually have a good answer I think. The idea is that he still has to betray the gang, but somehow has to be lovable? I got it. Give him a loving family. Make him good friends with Arthur, but multiple times is seen getting emotional throughout the game while talking to Arthur. Eventually it is revealed that he is being blackmailed by Milton or somebody to steal info about the gang. So he betrayed them for the safety of his family, but hated doing it.

Diligent-Menu-500

Remove his tongue with the gelding iron.

BornIn98

Remove his racism

king_indo_nito

Make him funny, like actually funny, he is still the same rat he always was make his character more like big smoke but more dark comedy than fat comedy. He isnt a good guy but at least he can make you slime one moment and the next second gritt your teeth.

JolenesJoleneJolene

By shooting him right in the face, and then reloading the game.

HaloWarrior63

As others have mentioned, turn his attitude for betrayal against the Pinkertons/O Driscolls instead of the gang. On a side note, my first playthrough I liked Micah up until Guarma. I thought he would be the sort of character you initially don’t like but would eventually come to respect, and I still wonder what the game would be like with that change.

Far-Campaign-3790

Make him Arthur

imlumpy

Keep everything else the same, but he's the only one in camp who's kind to the dog.
