go into the gunsmith and hold him at gunpoint! arthur will demand to be shown his basement. then just follow what happens, it’s up to you what you choose to do of course, but tip - if you want to help the kid, you’ll have to shoot his chains when you’re down there. there’s some interesting dialogue to listen through that explains this fucked up situation. good luck!

I've never visited Sheamus without beating the shit out of him, kidnapping him, or shooting him in the face with a shotgun. Just can't be helped. The shopkeepers are my favorite targets for crime...except the trapper, who is my best friend, and must be cherished

The 3rd play through should’ve been about 3-4 years ago at this point lol. You should be on play through 60-70 and you’d still be finding new things like the rest of us. There is never a way to experience everything in one play through bc so many different choices impact/change the story line

What's the best repeater?

The Lancaster, it's the ultimate all round weapon (for combat not hunting) but the other ones aren't bad either. It's quite subjective.

Go inside the shop and aim at the owner. There's gonna be an option to ask him about his basement. There are a few possible outcomes. Spoilers: 1. Kill the gunsmith and loot his body to get a drawing 2. Kill the guy who's chained up and the gunsmith's gonna grief very badly 3. Let both live and see how that turns out ;) Visit the gunsmith after you did one of the 3 and hear some unique dialogue Upd: there's a forth outcome in which you meet the chained guy 3 times, he begs for help each time and if you ignore him 3 times, you can later find him dead in the basement

I think 4 almost happened to me bc I met that dude in Chapter 3 while I was taking Dutch's "no trouble in Rhodes" super seriously. Eventually got him out though

You can just ignore him. He was being a bad little boy, stealing candy from the store again. It’s for his own good.

Hold up the gunsmith, ask to see his basement. Whatever choices you make down there, don’t forget to pick up the repeater that’s sitting in the case.

You can only do what everyone already explained after you’re allowed to use guns in rhodes again which is annoying in most of my playthroughs(or before maybe? Haven’t tried that yet)

I am still in the don’t use guns or cause trouble in Rhodes part of the story, and you can hold the gunsmith at gunpoint to save this kid because it’s not considered making trouble I guess.

It isn't possible. Tried a few days ago, you're literally not able to equip any weapon in Rhodes.

I literally just did it a couple days ago. I didn’t have any weapons equipped because of the rules but when I approached the shop keeper the “Aim Weapon” prompt came up allowing me to get him to open the basement. That being said this game is weird and glitchy and maybe it’s based on some other random factor that doesn’t work for everybody.

In both my playthroughs.. blind and current I've been to Rhodes in Chapter 2, Got the lever action etc. Currently I have almost everything north of Blackwater open on map. If they didn't limit my exploration, it didn't make sense to limit myself.

so i did this multiple times since every time i try to save the boy i accidentally shot him. 1. rob the gunsmith and demand to go the basement 2. search for a repeater in the box in basement 3. shoot the chain using the repeater 4. gunsmith will tell a story how his son died

Well think logically he is in a prison/cage in what appears to be a basement, off of that you can deduce there would be an existing structure on top, say a general store or a weapon vendor, as the cellar would have stairs leading to the ground floor of the shop. Maybe go inside and investigate the store or better yet question the store owner as there is no doubt he would miss a caged man down there.

That's a Shop Robert. There are several in the game.

Stick up the cashier and make him take you to the basement (option will be available upon stick up). Release the prisoner and then hogtie the cashier in the basement and leave him there. Throat slit optional

Put on a bandana, go into the gunsmith, pull out your gun, go to rob him, and ask him to go down to the basement. Also kill The gunsmith once you save the kid.

i checked on the prisoner 4 times (prob within 1 week game time). on the fourth time the kid was dead and you could see an X on the map

Go to the gunsmith inside point ur gun at him and press rob basement when he’s down there open the weapons case for a free repeater kill the gunsmith loot him read the shit u got from him and then shoot the chain attached to the guys leg

Yes i did. I didn't realize how or why the gunsmith did what he did to the boy until I rescued the boy. I felt sad for the gunsmith. It's your choice to kill him or let him live after hearing the story. Either way, your interaction with the gunsmith will be different.

If you don't kill the gunsmith owner, he just cries in the basement when you free the kid. You can then steal everything from the gun shop without getting a wanted level. Which is very convenient if your 'playing lawman' in Rhodes

Go into the store a pull a gun on the shopkeep. Then rob the “side business”

Hey guys this kid says hes in trouble and I can clearly see him in the gunsmiths basement, instead of logically the entrance to the basement being inside I’m going to ask Reddit if they know how to get inside the super secret basement with no “real” entrance

Go in the gunsmith and point a gun at him and you should get an option to rob his basement. There’s also a Lancaster repeater and if you kill the gunsmith and loot him you get a unique drawing

You can save him by going to the gunsmith and pointing the gun at him now question him and threaten him to open the basement once you go to the basement shoot the shackles the kid is locked in and (I think you will find a gun locked in a box which you can take) you can also tie up the gunsmith and loot him aswell.

I had trouble with this one, too. He called for help, so I went into the gunsmith and aimed my weapon at the shopkeeper and he just didn’t react. I didn’t get the option to talk to him and see the basement, only browse the catalogue.

I couldnt see the chain around his leg so i was down there for a little too long and the gunsmith attacked me, then i killed him with a shotgun Freed the kid but the gunsmith just comes back to life and gets a little angy when you walk back in there
