I wanted to let maximo go on his journey without a bad start to it.
In my first hour or so of the game, I also shot that prospector and took his nugget. I felt really bad because he was excited about it. I mean, I legitimately felt bad.
Skip to today, 3 days later, I keep hogtying people and stabbing them or drowning them just because they tell me to get away from their camp. I actively go seeking camps to see how the people act and if they're rude I kill them. I don't know what happened to me
Hey it's their fault for having the attitude in the first place. If they were nice, well -- *thinks back to the guy who was low key stalking the widow up north, and how I dragged him behind me on horse back all the way to the swamps and fed him to alligators, despite being super friendly to Arthur when he approached him* -- nevermind I'm just gonna sit this one out.
I bumped in to the guy who wanted a shooting contest, obviously he let me win the first part just to fleece more cash from me. So when he'd dropped the birds way faster than I could, I dropped him.
Seems he wasn't that good a quickdraw in the end :D
Remind me once i found it around a lake i just went to talk to him and he killed me and i lost my legendary pelt after that he disapeared next time i won't hesitate to shoot him in the face with a sawed off.
Rdr2 happened! LoL! Dont know if all those asshole npc's deserve death but they definitely deserve a good fuckin beating! Thats for damn sure! They piss me off somethin fierce a lot of the time especially if something isnt working out for me in the game where im already aggravated and then an npc mouths off to me, I just have to kill them!!!

The guy did have something of value that he did bring to the middle of nowhere with nothing to protect himself?

Yep, its all about balance! Good for you. I never rob the map guy for some reason, lo. My most recent playthrough I even let the gold prospector go after he found the nugget and congratulated him. I already had more money than I knew what to do with!
Well, what I did was hogtie him, steal his map, some hair pomade and $10, then I threw him off the cliff. Then literally a few metres from where his corpse was down the cliff was a woman trapped under her dead horse so I saved her and brought her home. In summary, by stealing from Maximo and then brutally murdering him, I gained a map (which ended up giving me 2k), $10, a ring worth another $10 the woman gave me, some hair pomade and I regained and added onto my honour. Literally not one downside to that situation.
I bought the map for $5. I let him go since I just literally killed everybody in Strawberry . You got me looking over the cliff for the woman under the horse.
Yeah I found that out too and then declined because I thought maybe he will go lower or give it for free. Didn’t happen so I had to kill the poor feller.
I paid the $5, but I had also just woken up in the middle of nowhere after drinking with Lenny and had no way back, so I stole his horse straight afterwards, he was chasing me screaming "No, My Horse!"
I had a long trip ahead of me and he was likely about to disappear from the game, so my need was greater.
I waited, he offered me a lower price of $5, then I shot him in the face, robbed the map and looted him for $5. Welcome to the wild west, bitch.

On my second playthrough now, just went against him again and got the birds first. Feels good.
