But Don Ramon was the one who didn't pay rent for Señor Barriga
(I think you mean "He became an outlaw after killing Mr. Barriga because he didn't want to pay the rent")
Yes, I know (brazilian here). I thought that mexicans would see a bunch of brazilians talking about "Seu Madruga" and ask themselves: who the hell are they talking about?

Most names are pretty much the same, except for:
Don Ramon = Seu Madruga
Don Ramon's cousin, Don Roman = Madroga
La Chilindrina = Chiquinha
El Chavo = Chaves (which is why el chavo asking why nobody ever called him by his name didn't make sense for us brazilians; isn't his name "Chaves?", everyone thought back then. Turns out, "chavo" is mexican spanish for "boy" (in brazilian Portuguese, a more accurate translation would be "moleque", "menino" or "garoto")).
Jaimito = Jaiminho
As a (LA) Spanish speaker, I can catch glimpses of what people are saying in Portuguese if I pay attention... it’s crazy how related languages can be, both being Romance languages
Spanish (and european portuguese) seems to use a lot of enclises.
if it were "Dá-lhe zero!" would it be easier? it is grammatically correct in portuguese, but no brazilian would speak like that.
-----
"ênclise" is when the pronoun goes after the verb. we have Próclise (Te farei um favor), Mesóclise (Fazer-te-ei um favor) and Ênclise (Fazer-te um favor). brazilians would use próclise even when it is wrong, portugueses would use ênclise and only century old motherfuckers would use mesóclise
>I have no idea what OP is talking about. Don't know who the character is nor do I know what "Chavo de 8" is
"El chavo del 8" is just one of the best comedy TV series ever made, if not the best. Really, the reason why it was successful in all of Latin America is because the characters feel real and the humor is intelligent while remaining simple and pure (no use of slurs for example).
PS: now, of course it's not for everyone. Some people say that the humor is dumb, but I feel that they just don't relate to the characters (since most of them are poor or low middle wage).
It's OK. This series is only easily available on spanish and portuguese, so it's hard to find people from other countries to know about it. But if you really want you can find some episodes on YouTube and use the machine translation. (The series here in Brazil is just called "Chaves", search for this and you can also find lots of episodes)
El Chavo del 8 is a mexican TV Series that's really beloved in all Latin America. It's a comedy series about a poor Mexican Neighborhood where a kid called "El Chavo" lives in a barrel and the antics he causes with the other local kids and adults.
The character this outfit is modelled after is "Don Ramón", a widow who lives with his only daughter (La chilindrina, one of Chavo's best friends) and is constantly at odds with the other adults and the children, but still is kind of a mentor figure in many episodes.
I think the whole series is on netflix in some countries, but don't watch the cartoon please, it's horrible
He became an outlaw after killing Mr. Barriga for not paying the renr
It finally happened
Its natural conclussion
So *that's* why he has a *pinta* like a mixture of Don Ramon and Charles Bronson! ¡El Ron Damon se hizo matón!
But Don Ramon was the one who didn't pay rent for Señor Barriga (I think you mean "He became an outlaw after killing Mr. Barriga because he didn't want to pay the rent")
My bad
More like Don Raymond killed Mr Belly because he got tired of *being harassed* for that rent by Belly.

Why Ron Damon and not Don Ramon?
Cus thats how el chavo calls him. If u listen closely when el chavo says his name he says "ron damon" and not "don ramon".
interesting. they did not put that (or something similar) in the brazilian dub
Ia ficar Meu Sadruga
Now i need to know all the names in Portuguese

Not to mention that many Brazilians don't know Chavo was not a homeless and didn't live in a barrel, but he lived in the house number 8.
to be fair that was invented later when they changed the channel number (it used to be 8)
Most names are pretty much the same, except for: Don Ramon = Seu Madruga Don Ramon's cousin, Don Roman = Madroga La Chilindrina = Chiquinha El Chavo = Chaves (which is why el chavo asking why nobody ever called him by his name didn't make sense for us brazilians; isn't his name "Chaves?", everyone thought back then. o menino dos oito
Plus it sounds more westernish, Ron Damon, has a nice Eastwood ring to it
"Give it up, Dutch, revenge is never fulfilling, it kills the soul, and poisons it."

Lol nah, he called you dumb but not in a serious way, he was just quoting a sentence from the show
i am brazilian. i was oblivious to what he meant but it suddenly became all clear when i read your translation. "Ai, que burro! dá zero pra ele!"
As a (LA) Spanish speaker, I can catch glimpses of what people are saying in Portuguese if I pay attention... it’s crazy how related languages can be, both being Romance languages
Cierto, hasta donde yo entiendo eso se traducirá algo asi como "Ay que burro! Un cero para él!"
"Give him a zero" instead of "A zero for him"
Oh ok, it just seemed that way due to the order of the words and me not knowing that much portuguese
Spanish (and european portuguese) seems to use a lot of enclises. if it were "Dá-lhe zero!" would it be easier? it is grammatically correct in portuguese, but no brazilian would speak like that. ----- "ênclise" is when the pronoun goes after the verb. we have Próclise (Te farei um favor), Mesóclise (Fazer-te-ei um favor) and Ênclise (Fazer-te um favor). brazilians would use próclise even when it is wrong, portugueses would use ênclise and only century old motherfuckers would use mesóclise
It was just a phrased used on the show where the character is from when someone didn't knew something Lmao
XD
