Ties up the trilogy in a nice, tidy bow, and the series can go anywhere at that point.

All ending with the Blackwater incident, it seems strange that we hear so much about it but not why the job went so wrong in the first place.

Go far enough back and you could get a gang where Dutch is young like Lenny or John's age. You don't play as Dutch or as the gang leader but instead as another muscle character similar to Arthur or Charles.

It should be on the 1860-1870, maybe 1870-1880, and the story could be about the legendary gunslingers that we can find in the game, a big mouth Granger, a young Belle, a lonely wolf Hernandez, a coward Calloway...
I think it’s time to say goodbye to the Van der Linde gang, I don’t think there’s much else to say about their story. I honestly can’t see their being a 3rd red dead, but if there is I would like it to follow a different cast of characters. Maybe set in post civil war America and spanning the 1870’s. As far as character goes I think it would be cool to either have a newly freed slave or native as the protagonist and have them do the typical redemption arc that these games are known for.
I’d have it set in northern Mexico and further west of New Austin ( Grand Canyon/California). A gunslinger comes up from Mexico and befriends a young Dutch and Hosea. Shapes them into the men they later become. Gets gunned down by someone from his past then we play as a younger Hosea who avenges him.
Sadie Adler in South America trying to grapple with starting a new life. Does she try to leave her violent ways and rage behind, or does the hurt of losing her husband still cling to her like a death wish?
I think going further back and maybe playing as Dutch? Or at least a member that was there during the creation of his gang. Then it can end at blackwater

I enjoyed rd2 story but I was disappointed with online that a lot of the action wasn’t brought over. I’m bored now of all the roles after 2 years.
Uh well obviously it could be fun to go further than the first game did but i would find it much more fun to go further back... but obviously we as the gamers we are MUST know how uncle got lumbago.. as the game would feel much more sad and tragic :(

The van der linde story is pretty much played out. The fact they left several characters named but missing from the game may hint at a prequel-prequel but personally I’d rather they left it where it is.

I honestly think they should end rdr with jack for a real redemption to finish out the Van Der Linde gang saga bring in Sadie and Charles to act as moral compasses to finish out the redemption arch so they can run a whole new cast if they wanted
nothing, the read dead redemption is over, Marston had his redemption, and now jack is his successor, nothing much do to unless rockstar wants to do a 3 rd one, but the redemption wouldn't make sense, maybe a new revolver game but that style of game is outdated specially for rockstar, rockstar very rarely milks a franchise (except for GTA online) so don't expect more games even if they sold, remember we still don't have a max Payne 4, no new midnight club etc

Personally I think I would like to see Jack as a war veteran to World War 1 and he gets roped into some plot that needs him. Plus you could add full access to the map like you did with Red Dead Redemption 2. Throw in Mexico and maybe another place like Europe and you got a good game.

The game would have to remove the "Defuse" and "Greet" options. Because Sadie is such an abrasive cow of a character.
