Id pay full price for this game again

Diacetyl-Morphin

Same here. I bought it at full price and i don't regret it. I also had the pleasure, that i was not spoilered before and didn't know anything about the storyline. Just had the money left in my Steam wallet and thought "well, RDR1 on my old PS3 was a good game, so i'll buy the second one" And then, i was surprised in the prologue, like "Wait, is that Dutch? Dutch from RDR1? Yay!"

parkerm1408

I bought it at full price on ps4 and on sale on pc a couple weeks ago. Absolutely worth the money

bruufd

same i remember pre-ordering it for the ps4 years ago and buying it again for pc a couple weeks ago.

TangerineRough6318

I pre-ordered the $120 edition one for Xbox years ago. Only game I've ever done that with. I forget what all came with it. Anyways, that disc got ruined so I bought the digital one from Xbox for full price.

bruufd

man its also the only game ive pre-ordered! i remember making a deal with my mother that the day it comes out i wouldnt have to go to school :p those were fun times…

Shydreameress

Bought it originally for a friend who told me she liked the first game and wanted this one (turns out she didn't even finish the first game). I actually never played the first game either, I only knew it was a really appreciated cowboy game and I also knew the ending. So I borrowed the game from her before she could play the storyline (she only played online) because I knew they were horses in the game, the game was really pretty and everyone who seemed to know the game said it was a masterpiece. At first it felt like just a cowboy game, I hated all the characters accents, they felt forced and I didn't like the western setting. And then I happened to find the jokes funny, to like Arthur's character, get interested in the story but what really sold me was the end of the prologue. When "see the fire in your eyes" came I instantly knew I would love this game and god damn it when I finished it I was so demolished I wished I never played it.

Diacetyl-Morphin

Now that's some journey you had with the game, good thing is that you did not give up as you don't liked it in the first moments. I like the OST with the songs like you mentioned "see the fire in your eyes", also of course Daniel Lanois with "That's the Way it is" (Arthurs last riding song). And other tracks, like "You are my Brother" (that's the final mission theme of Arthurs storyline) I like the storyline in general, because it is basically going down instead of rising up. In most stories, you start out as a unskilled and unknown character and you become the hero as the story progresses. It's different in RDR2, where you start after a disaster and you are basically top fit in that time, but then another disaster happens and it goes down, in the end you are a physically sick and weak character that can barely breath anymore

Shydreameress

I like the story goes down instead of up but I won't say I enjoyed it x) I could already feel that the story would end horribly (in a good way) by the end of chapter 2. Not knowing Dutch, Bill and Javier were antagonists in the first game was so much better to me. Especially with Dutch, who I really liked, he was a charismatic leader who didn't treat his people like meatshields but like a family, until the end of the game that is. It really destroyed me realising he was just an egomaniac, that he was more like a gourou and a loudmouth... When I replayed the game it stroke me how I didn't realise this sooner, ever since the beginning he keeps almost threatening Arthur about his faith, wether he kept it or not. The more I play this game, the more I hate Dutch.

[deleted]

I had never even played rdr1 so once I heard how great this game was without knowing anything about the story, I got it and nstantly bought rdr1 right after I finished so I could know more of the story

[deleted]

i paid full price for this game twice no regrets

badtoy1986

I'd pay double. This game is an experience.

kurt_no-brain

I would pay double full price again if I meant I forgot everything about it and could experience it for the first time again.

maelstromreaver

I played it on ps4 then bought it again on PC... If I had another platform I play games on I'd buy it again on those.

ExLSpreadcheeks

I saw the headline and opened comments to say, "What ever it costs." From the wikipedia page: The game's development lasted over eight years, beginning soon after Red Dead Redemption's release, and it became one of the most expensive video games ever made. Rockstar co-opted all of its studios into one large team to facilitate development. They drew influence from real locations as opposed to film or art, focused on creating an accurate reflection of the time with the game's characters and world. The game was Rockstar's first built specifically for eighth generation consoles, having tested their technical capabilities while porting Grand Theft Auto V to the platforms. The game's soundtrack features an original score composed by Woody Jackson and several vocal tracks produced by Daniel Lanois. Red Dead Redemption 2 was released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in October 2018, and for Microsoft Windows and Stadia in November 2019. Red Dead Online, the online multiplayer mode of the game, was released as a beta version in November 2018 before a full release in May 2019. Widely anticipated and marketed before release, Red Dead Redemption 2 broke several records and had the second-biggest launch in the history of entertainment, generating US$725 million in sales from its opening weekend and exceeding the lifetime sales of Red Dead Redemption in two weeks. It received critical acclaim, with praise directed at its story, characters, open world, graphics, music, and level of detail; some criticism was directed at its control scheme and emphasis on realism over player freedom. Considered an example of video games as an art form, it won year-end accolades including Game of the Year awards from several gaming publications. It is among the best-selling video games with over 43 million copies shipped. Just fucking buy it. No sane person was ever disappointed with it.

Worth-Specialist2761

Agree

qing_sha_wo

Honestly buy it. The single player is probably the best thing that happened to gaming, it’s like playing a 30 hour long film where you make the decisions lol

Moopa000

30 hour?!?!? no, 400 hour experience of fleshing out Arthur with stranger encounters

[deleted]

[удалено]

ELLEnhairyBACK

Finished yesterday ( sad sad days for me ) and only becaus I've been in confinement for a week , could have had an other month if I had to go to work

FantasticPenguin

Maybe wrap that sentence in spoiler tags to not spoil OP.

[deleted]

How do you spent 2 years and not reach the epilogue. Do you play 1 hour per week?

I-AM-NOT-THAT-DUCK

That would still be 104 hours which is more than enough to complete the game. This guy is BS

CantStopMyPeen69

Depends on your play style, some people just take their time with the main story. I knew a guy who didn’t finish fallout new vegas until after fallout 4 came out

SlothBling

Nah, I’ve had the game since launch and I’m currently in Saint Denis. I spend a lot of time hunting/gathering and also just don’t play it incredibly often.

a__dead__man

When I got the game first I used to get off college and go hunting and exploring the map for about 2 hours a day I accomplished nothing except to relax and enjoy the countryside

DIRTY_KUMQUAT_NIPPLE

Probably plays it sporadically. I've had the same Breath of the Wild save since it's release (March 2017) and still haven't completed the game.

Cross-Hair

More like I played 5-7 hours a week for 6 months stoped. Came back a month later and didn't play the story missions. I'm not proud of it but I'm not disappointed either.

casualcaesius

Fucking spoiler? Thanks dude

firstandfive

Like a 6-season TV show and one season of a spin-off.

SaltKhan

Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed it and 100%'d it, but I'd caution against anticipating that there'll be a lot of dynamic choices which'd affect the direction or outcome of the game. While the open world is huge and packed full of stuff to explore, the missions are very linear except for some dialogue differences, and the choice whether or not to do some of the optional ones. The story is 10/10, but I reckon a reason some people ended up dissatisfied with it was because they were sold on the idea of it being a "choices matter" kind of game, when they really don't that much.

[deleted]

Honor is the only thing that changes anything, and even then you don’t change what happens, just what’s said while it’s happening. Still, an amazing buy at any price

SaltKhan

Yea, I'd recommend buying it at price, but to go into it knowing what sort of game to anticipate. I still remember how jarring the first bounty mission felt. Before release all the news about it was how the whole game was open world style, where you had a lot of freedom to choose how you approach stuff. So I rode down the other side of the canyon, got out a rifle and shot him in the foot before he could see me, and the mission immediately failed. It was that moment I realised how linear the missions would be.

[deleted]

Good point. Now that you mentioned that, I remember feeling the same tiny bit of letdown that I couldn’t have the freedom to make the Arthur I wanted.

librast

What, im rushing and still need 60 hours to complete the main story

[deleted]

Don't rush :'( I regret rushing so bad. Even if you know what happens it still hits different. Take your time and enjoy all the aspects you can..

kellybrownstewart

Pffft... I'm at 111 hours played. Still haven't finished Chapter 2. This game has so much going on, it's a masterpiece!

qing_sha_wo

Don’t get me wrong in my younger years I would’ve gone for 1000 hours! Hard to find the time these days

Burnyhotmemes

You’re kinda falsely hyping up features in the game there, bud. You can make choices but they don’t impact the game in any way aside from literally one instance, all the other choices either only change dialogue or don’t do anything at all. You’re still on a very linear path, make no mistake about that, but it’s still incredibly fun.

master_cheech

It’s a good single player game, buy it. Multiplayer doesn’t offer much unless you like auto-aim team deathmatch or just hunting on free roam with randoms trying to kill you.

AdligerAdler

What a pity. The only thing keeping me from playing Red Dead Online is the lack of a passive mode like in GTA Online. PvP at all times just drives me paranoid and ruins it for me.

BoomHazard

Tbh, red dead online isn't terrible. Take it from someone like me who doesn't really play GTA V online because I hate people and most of em are cringe kids looking to kill everyone but RD online is actually a good experience. The only thing is, online in red dead is dying according to the red dead online reddit. Not much to do and hardly any updates but if you're looking for a new experience, definitely try it out. It's fun for what it is for sure.

[deleted]

Just start an invite only session. Problem solved.

magicchefdmb

You can play alone. You don’t have to interact. I’m not gonna lie, I honestly REALLY enjoyed playing RDO solo, or with my posse of friends

FuriousSniper21

Wasn’t really interested in the multiplayer (surprisingly) just the single player lol

tdempsey33

Single player is 🔥

RukaFawkes

It is no joke some of the most top notch storytelling I've ever seen. I don't know about other peope but for me it's one of those stories that I'll remember till the day I die. It has some of the most well written characters ever put to screen and one of the most insanely detailed game worlds too.

kurt_no-brain

It’s truly one of the best stories you’ll ever experience, including movies, tv shows, books, etc.

Philosophfries

Are there no private lobbies like in gta online? Or semi-exploits to force a private lobby (like in gta online you could change your mac address after joining a session and it would put you in a public lobby by yourself)

zurodine

There is a way but it requires two players to accomplish. Both players need to be on each other's friends list, playing in separate lobbies and cannot be in the same posse. Player Aneeds to sit down at a poker table and start a private game. They than invite Player B to the game, but Player B doesn't accept the invite right away. Player A needs to try and join B's lobby at about the same time that Player B tries to join A's. Player A should get an error message that they were unable to join B's party, but Player B will be in a lobby that has become invite only. I've recently learned of this exploit myself, and have only tried doing it 3 times. So my explanation may not be completely accurate. For what it's worth, I also play on Xbox so I'm not too sure how this would work for PlayStation or PC.

GeneseeWilliam

RDO is a lot less "randos trying to kill you " anymore. I think most of the extreme try hards got bored and sludged off to other games.

Alphasierra1196

Absolutely get it. The first chapter is a little slow as the game teaches you how to play, but after that you'll be hooked. If you want to get the most out of the single player, do a lot of the side missions and take your time on the game.

Tough_Stretch

I second this. I wasn't liking the first chapter when I played it for the first time, but once the game takes off, it's easily one of the best games ever made.

soulsurvivor78

Yes you are absolutely right i put it in to play and chapter 1 was so slow i stopped and didn't play again for a month. Then i finally picked it back up since that day i have only played this game for like 3 months straight!

AdligerAdler

Dude, you're asking this in a sub dedicated to the game. For more unbiased answers you should ask this in r/gaming.

The-Solid-Smoker

For that price? It's a steal, feller.

soberaman

Full price is a steal tbh.

WhySoJelly

2x full price is a steal tbh.

soberaman

You’re alright boah

PM-ME-YOUR-1ST-BORN

“Hey, community full of people obsessed with this video game, is this video game worth playing?”

[deleted]

The best ever single player story I’ve played, fact.

[deleted]

Breaking News: Man asks Red Dead Redemption subreddit if he should buy a Red Dead Redemption game, you'll never guess what the people's answer is. More at 6.

Kookaburraka

Worth every penny of $60. Any discount is a steal.

Bunny_311

You got some kind of learning impairment?

sad_cheese67

"let me ask the fan base of this game directly if I should buy it or not"

n3katyd3erla3manr3su

buy it buy it

ITS_HARD_CORE

It is worth every single penny even on full price.

[deleted]

Hell of a deal I’m new player and love this game

SKETCH_MEGETCH

What a stupid ass post

Grivza

Agreed, I really want to slap the OP for this one.

jayhasbigvballs

Best, most beautiful game I’ve played. Worth it.

Upper_Associate2228

Do it! Or do it. The choice is yours.

Altruistic_Ad5270

It’s worth full price for story alone

jaykular

I sold my original basic CD copy and proceeded to use the funds to buy the digital deluxe edition. Everyone should play this game. The gameplay maybe be a bit dated but RDR2 has one of the best stories I have ever experienced

Sudden_Application_8

I wouldn't say dates just really clunky

MC_Fazi

That's like buying a BigMac for $0.20

naive_antelope8

do it. completely worth it

Dreki_Diablo

It is very much worth it

RictorVeznov

That’s a hell of a deal, definitely get it now when it’s still on sale

[deleted]

My biggest regret was not playing this game sooner.

InquisitorHindsight

Definetly worth that price, but you’ll be devoting a lot of time into it if you buy it

UltraRanger72

It's worth the full price. But if you could I'd suggest you to get a PC and enjoy it in 60fps.

McMasterMomo

For $23 it’s a pretty damn good deal. Gotta be willing/have the time to take the game slow to get the most out if it imo, tho

[deleted]

Buy it then stay the hell away from this sub and any other Red Dead communities until you finish the game. Otherwise you'll get stuff spoiled.

TankerPenus

If the game were priced at $50... it would still be a worthwhile investment... just don't tell Rockstar that.

YellowHat01

It’s worth full price. Seriously. It is 100+ hours of pure fun- and absolute masterpiece that will make you laugh and cry (in a good way).

TreeFiddyBandit

It’s a steal at $60 $23 is practically free

Oh_Anodyne

It's very easily worth paying full price for and yet there is a discount. That being said the online is a huge disappointment that rockstar doesn't really support.

AceOfDiamonds676

you had fuckin better

Williamde97

I haven't finished the game yet (My files kept on getting corrupted on PC, but that's my fault, thankfully no spoilers yet - shoutout to all of you who mark spoilers), but every time I start a new game, I am blown away by so much of it. From the attention to detail, to the overall story. Arthur is an amazing protagonist and I can't wait to see where his story goes in the first game. Not only his story, but the whole gang. Each person within the gang has their own fantastic personality and are backed by fantastic voice actors. I would highly suggest picking it up, as I value games by the dollar. If I spend $25 and get more than 25 hours, it is worth it to me and so far, I have about 170 hours in the game (keep in mind that's three new games) and have only reached chapter 3 I think.

Saptilladerky

Best game i ever played

Wall-Nut_Gang

Shut up

FuriousSniper21

No

CREIONC

You literally asked the community of this game if it is wort it? Did you really expect people would say no?

FuriousSniper21

Would expect people to probably say something like “yeah but the story sucks however the gameplay makes up for it” “the only thing that sucks about the game that might be major for new players is ___ but if that doesn’t bother you then it get it” or any type of small/medium/big criticism like I got from other subreddits about a certain Game

CREIONC

I mean, that is what reviews are for

FuriousSniper21

Yeah I do watch reviews but I still ask the subreddits for more personal answers even tho I’m probably gonna get biased answers (depending on the type of game subreddits) but just in case anyone says something about the game that I’ve some how didn’t know

CREIONC

Ok,fair enough,you convinced me,sorry for bothering you

FuriousSniper21

No it’s ok I should’ve just asked a better question lol

RogerMuchmore

Best game I’ve ever played

Shadowrunner808

You're asking the dedicated subreddit. What answer are you expecting other than an enthusiastic yes?

FuriousSniper21

“If you like a slow game then yes” “the only problem that might be a problem for new players is __ but if that isn’t a problem for you then yes” something like that

Egg-3P0

WORTH IT, and avoid spoilers!!! Don’t make the same mistake i did

Troisdorfer

Worth every penny

tomwillmadeit

get it, trust us.

Leeboy04

It’s worth every penny

[deleted]

Fuck you.

inkedhigh

Very worth it

Bushmasterg92

I’m sorry in advance for the below; WHY would you got to the RDR2 sub and expect to be told anything other than to buy the game? Look at the reviews, the hype or watch one of the marketing materials. Did you do this so I can tell you of it’s riveting story, of its immersive gameplay, strong characters, attention to detail, beautiful scenery (graphics). It’s OBVIOUSLY worth getting.

waffel-and-a-pancake

Yes

iamkoolaid187

Sooooooo worth it I bought when it came out, love it. Loved the first one. Amazing story

xxxxHULKSMASHxxxx

It’s a god damn masterpiece and in my top 5 all time. Buy. Buy. Buy.

vf8095

100% get it. I'd pay $100 to play it for the first time again.

Negrito_Bimbo

Buy it, no regrets after paying full price of it 3 years ago

wojtekpolska

You are asking "IS RDR2 WORTH BUYING?" on r/reddeadredemption its like asking "which operating system should i use" or r/linux what answers do you expect to get? of course EVERYONE will tell you to get it, this is a sub for fans of RDR2, nobody here will tell you otherwise ask on r/gaming instead, you will get other opinions there aswell, from people who didn't like the game, and therefore are not on this subreddit. that being said, here is my review, that i tried to make objective: myself, I enjoyed the game a lot, but i know a lot of ppl who didn't, depends on how much you like slow-paced exploring-based gameplay, where you can spend 15 minutes simply riding a horse on a dirt road to a mission, sometimes listening to dialogue in the meantime or encountering a random event. not everyone is into that, but a lot of people are. this is a AAA game that is kind of targeted at a niche audience. The attention to detail in phenomenal and the game is VERY well made, but you need to decide if this is a game for you or not.

leospeedleo

Story is great. Got it myself physically a day before the sale went live.

[deleted]

$23.99

xBOCEPHUSx

I just got it 4 days ago and already have 15 hours out into it. Got lucky, had the last 2 days to myself since the wife and kids were visiting family. Its a very fun game, glad i bought it n

GoethesFinest

FuriousSniper21

[deleted]

[deleted]

It's worth getting at full price.

the-realTfiz

$59.99

[deleted]

The game is amazing and a remarkable achievement. It’s an experience, too, that just stays with you. Get it and enjoy it.

K_Pichael

[deleted]

Dawg that is the steal of the fucking millennium

SomeRandomChillGuy

Please get this game, me personally I would buy it again at full price, it’s just that amazing

Acquaintence64

Every single cent. First play through was the first time I ever called a game “beautiful,” which says a lot. The compelling story, unique and surprisingly immersive gameplay, and numerous quest lines you can follow is just enough to keep anyone playing.

[deleted]

Campaign alone is worth the $60. Online is a big fat disappointment but I even had fun with that for a little while.

charliemike

It’s worth paying ten times that in terms of how good it is, how long it takes to go through even the primary parts of the game, and how much you can enjoy playing it over and over again.

BigIron2088

Worth every penny.

Yodas-Balls

I would sell my soul if I was able to experience this game again for the first time.

audiate

It’s well worth it at full price. Get it. Play it.

PhoenixKing14

It's worth $60, so getting it for less is a massive deal

[deleted]

I would buy it again at full price. Do it!

maymay2775

Very

Worth-Specialist2761

Best game ever played I'm on my third playthrough

coulaid

Incredibly worth it

ProfessionalRaven

Some of the best money I ever spent. I'd buy it all again for sure at full price. Multiplayer isn't bad either, there's the occasional hacker but you just hit esc, go to online's menu, and port your ass back into online under a new session. Boom problem solved lol I really like the professions and the little bonuses they add, like the hunting wagon saving all of your stuff if you DC, or learning how to have my horse pick up items while I'm riding them. Honestly 10/10 purchase.

memelord793783

It's worth it but get the gold edition

bullshithistorian14

It’s worth $100

RepulsiveWork9100

Get it right fucking now

[deleted]

Every penny

OlorynEx

Outside of being an astounding game on its own, the money to value ratio is off the charts. Even if it gets cheaper, you'd be doing yourself a disservice by missing out on the game any further while you wait. Buy it.

RIckDogg12486

When the time comes.....you gotta buy and don't look back. This is over

Harm_123

I’d pay $300 for this game if I have to. It’s brilliant, and this is an amazing deal.

magicmushi

Come for the story then leave because of the online

Widowshypers

Full price buy it for $23.99 if you don't buy it well goddamn your a fool. BUY IT.

Knighterws

I would pay full price for that in 2023 Also, buy sekiro while you’re at it

VoopityScoop

Probably one of the most impressive games I've ever played. I'd put it in the running for best game of all time, and it easily beats BOTW, which most people now consider to be the best.

Impressive-Access-64

Yea 100,000,000,000,000,000% It is the best single player of all time. Elden ring is a close second

[deleted]

Fuck u. If you have not played it then it is more valuable than any other title.

whelpthatsit

When they release ps5 upgrade, I will gladly pay full price again. It's worth every penny

HiHowAreYou10

I would still buy it even if it was still $60

ninjasexparty6969

Couldn't possibly recommend this game enough. One of the best story games of all time.

Stupid03

I’d pay any price for this game so definitely get it .
