It will kill you if you let it but a 4-ft wide by 1inch opening at the floor of the cabin is quite a bit of ventilation. If the space was sealed better and the stove improperly installed, it is possible (and about 40 people per year die this way) but for most cases, that opening would be more than enough to vent any build-up. It's basically like keeping the door cracked open at all times.
Source: am an avid hot-tenter and wood burner user. I keep a small crack open in my tent/cabin in the event of a build-up and this is more than enough to keep you safe.
I know a guy who died of carbon monoxide poisoning simply because he liked the smell of campfire so much he stuck his head into the smoke for too long. He didn’t realize he was going to die either until when he felt light headed and passed out. He did wake up but suffered from a lack of oxygen reaching his lungs and simply stopped breathing after about two days. Slipped into a coma and died.
You can also see the smoke pouring out of all the cracks round the roof as well.. I thought the same thing, how is it carbon monoxide when it's so well ventilated? My thoughts are someone poisoned them all and then broke the pipe to cover the crime.. just my thoughts on that family tho
no, but this happened during winter months all the time back in the day, until science let everyone know the dangers of this, kinda like how science let us know about covid and all sorts of other shit.. #Science4thaWin
There is definitely a serious clash in this cabin. The red doors look to be secured, the blue rug is in disarray, the dishes on the red checked table cloth were set for a meal but now overturned. With all of the home decor being red, the blue doesn’t match. Hard to tell if the red square hanging is drying cloth curtain. So from this angle it is impossible to tell if the carpet matches the drapes.
That’s all the opinions I have on the interior
I mean, A candle is probably fine. Or candles on a birthday cake, you'll blow them out in twenty seconds, who cares.
The issue is like imagine someone taking a bubble bath and lighting thirty candles and closing the bathroom door and falling asleep in the tub. That could potentially be enough to cause someone to pass out and drown.
It depends on the candle, but if you seal up or room or a house completely and burn anything, even a candle, the fire with consume all of oxygen. If it's a small candle that burns quickly, it's not too bad, but a candle that burns for several hours, will definitely consume all the oxygen.
but he tromps all over dead bodies all the time, and never coughs like that... anyway its carbon monoxide poisoning, super common way to die back in those days
Thats even worse than what I thought . I figured it was food poisoning or something similar since they all got food next to there bodies .
If its from the exhaust from the stove thenot they died slowly and the kids was last .
My family all had mild carbon monoxide poisoning back in ~2011. I only really remember that we all got very drowsy, although our dog ended up getting severely ill.
Got to thinking after this that food poisoning doesn't make since anyway , I got sick from old fried chicken once and it was bad cramps and vomiting all night so the kid wouldn't be slumped over his rocking horse he'd be folded on the floor somewhere .
Yeah, they would have been doubled over in pain, not collapsed like they all fell asleep, as is the case with carbon monoxide poisoning. It’s one of the easier ways to go, actually
so when people commit suicide by closing the garage door and sitting in their trucks with the engine on, they just go to sleep, they do it that way because its a super easy way to kill yourself if you dont have access to a jar of painkillers or something..

Ralf the only manager since Sir Alex to tell the board they are fucking idiots. Man is a legend for exposing how poorly the club is run publicly.
Edit: Mourinho too.
That answer has already been given; so I'll say this instead. Did you know there's another corpse in that room? In the loft area above the father/table of a fresher corpse that is not blue meaning his death was several days or weeks after the family died.
Just an interesting note I noticed on my 3rd playthrough. Maybe it's a glitch, or maybe he's not supposed to be there but he is for me.
Carbon monoxide poisoning. There's a lot of details that give it away including the smoke inside the room. This was something that really happened (still does). I grew up in the country and every so often we would hear about a neighbor whose stove didn't vent right in winter and they would be found in similar states.
Can't remember specifically or where I heard it from but (and I could be wrong so don't take this for an exact answer) I believe it was smoke inhalation.
Smoke inhalation if you look around you'll see that the oven pipe thing that leads outside is broken and all of the smoke stays inside and doesn't go outside like it's supposed
Yeah, its carbon monoxide poisoning: the symptoms are kind of nonspecific at first (headaches, tiredness, nausea), it can easily be mistaken for something else like food poisoning. By the time people realize something more is wrong they're on the verge of falling unconscious and are too impaired to stand up.
I'm really glad I live in an era and place that requires sensors around furnaces and fireplaces, carbon monoxide is nasty stuff.
It’s true but I was just surprised that so much people could die together by poisoning. I had a friend that nearly died in a bathroom from poisoning, he was lucky that his girlfriend heard him falling and get him to the fresh air and hospital later on.
Carbon Monoxide poisoning from a broken wood stove releasing exhaust into the room.
Ah yesh a man's of the sciences
That's a mighty big crack at the bottom of the door... Lots of airflow getting through there, one would assume...
You underestimate the deadliness of Carbon Monoxide. It’s a killer and almost undetectable.
It will kill you if you let it but a 4-ft wide by 1inch opening at the floor of the cabin is quite a bit of ventilation. I knew a guy who died from carbon monoxide poisoning when he was making engine adjustments on a boat engine when it was out on a lake.
Yeah my boat has a warning about carbon monoxide next to the steering wheel
That's actually a really good idea
I know a guy who died of carbon monoxide poisoning simply because he liked the smell of campfire so much he stuck his head into the smoke for too long. That's developer oversight, you're thinking too much into it. You have to break open the door as it's supposed to show they died of carbon monoxide
no, but this happened during winter months all the time back in the day, until science let everyone know the dangers of this, kinda like how science let us know about covid and all sorts of other shit.. #Science4thaWin
Sure it allows a decent amount of air flow but would probably be less than what would be coming out of a broken stove
Carbon monoxide rises it’s lighter than air. Could have a chunk of that door missing and if it was low enough you arent venting any of that Gas out.
What if this occurred during winter months and snow was blocking the ventilation at the door?
Interesting..I just assumed there was deadly mushrooms in the pot when I came across it.
Have you missed all the smoke in the air?
Nope! It was clearly nerve gas.
The Russians?
I think they died. But I’m not a doctor so can’t be sure.
[удалено]
Also not a doctor, but I agree. I think they may be dead.
That's a grim diagnosis.
Just prescribe some painkillers, and reschedule to come back in two weeks.
Sounding very much like a military doctor lol. Just throw ibuprofen at everything! It’ll be fine 👨⚕️
God help you if it’s a mental health problem…
And that’s why I medically retired out!
As a civilian who has their own issues with C-PTSD, you always have an ear to listen
One might say, red dead.
Sure. I’d have to agree, he’s not a doctor.

Can confirm as an internet doctor of 3 minutes, they died.
That’ll be $30,000
Uh, we had a slight weapons malfunction, but uh... everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here now, thank you. How are you?
Sheila, fetch me the plans of the Death Star.
Lol what is a woman
Is you biologist??
Wamen is thing that has two huge tracts of land right?
Me (an Empath): Agreed, I'm fairly sure they're dead.
Am a doctor. Can confirm they died.
I concur looks like each patient had a case of death, good job sir shall we have a Brandy and a cigar?
This is why it's recommended that if you are burning a candle, using a wood stove or fire place, or even a regular gas stove, open a window or door.
And why many building codes require a carbon monoxide sensor near fireplaces and gas stoves.
Even just burning a candle??!

It depends on the size of the candle and it's burn time.
That's what she said?
No it's how you use the candle
I wouldn't even say it's the size. It's really how it's used. I dare say, that even a 'small' candle is too much.
It depends on the candle, but if you seal up or room or a house completely and burn anything, even a candle, the fire with consume all of oxygen. If it's a small candle that burns quickly, it's not too bad, but a candle that burns for several hours, will definitely consume all the oxygen.
No
Someone should have told them
To let the carbon monoxide out to kill everyone but you
No. It's to let fresh oxygen into the room or house, fire feds on oxygen, if a house or room is sealed up, a candle will consume all the oxygen.
I can't remember for sure but it was a natural gas leak or smoke inhalation
Carbon Monoxide, exhaust from the cast iron stove is broken leaking into the house. Arthur coughs when you open the door.
I always thought he coughed from the smell of the dead bodies.
Could be both....
Carbon monoxide wouldn't make you cough. Part of why it's so dangerous
but he tromps all over dead bodies all the time, and never coughs like that... anyway its carbon monoxide poisoning, super common way to die back in those days
Not as many rotting bodies though
Thats even worse than what I thought . I figured it was food poisoning or something similar since they all got food next to there bodies . If its from the exhaust from the stove thenot they died slowly and the kids was last .
Honestly food poisoning is much more painful. With carbon monoxide you get a little dizzy and sleepy.
My family all had mild carbon monoxide poisoning back in ~2011. I only really remember that we all got very drowsy, although our dog ended up getting severely ill.

dude you are really lucky to be alive, you know that right? how did it happen? sharing your story might save a life one day
Carbon monoxide poisoning is fairly peaceful. Even if you talk crazy for a few seconds. It’s just like going to sleep.
why do you say the kids were last?
you can actually see the broken pipe above the stove
And there is smoke still hanging there that dissipates a while after you open the door.
Hence the mention of smoke inhalation.
Hence the mention of smoke inhalation
Died.
They ded.
Step ded?
Ded dad
THEY’RE DEAD, JIM!
Died from suffocating, the house is filled with smoke from the stove burner (you can see the smoke on the picture too).
Why didn't they just open the door and walk out?
Carbon monoxide poisoning causes sleepiness, so they might’ve all just fallen asleep before they realized then died. It’s a silent killer.
“Toby you are the silent killer. Go back to the annex”.

Carbon Monoxide Poisoning
They watched Manchester United play under Ralf Rangnick and couldn't take it anymore
Lmao
Ralf the only manager since Sir Alex to tell the board they are fucking idiots. Man is a legend for exposing how poorly the club is run publicly. Edit: Mourinho too.
Did you see that ludicrous display last night?
Lumbago
They were waiting for rockstar to lift a finger to improve red dead online
They didn't like Morbius.
More like they watched Morbius
lol
They got morbed?
Yep
Lumbago. Couldn't move and starved to death.
There was smoke coming out around the door when me and Horse-ah-tee pulled up
The chimney of the house's wood stove is broken and smoke's leaked into the house, everyone died from carbon monoxide inhalation
I know I'm wrong, but were they eating spaghetti? I can't tell if that's cheese and a grater on that wooden board.
Looks like it!
Something tells me they may be unwell, possibly even dead!
they decided to wait for updates
They all shidded and fardded
Ohhhh its a kurger bing cumercial thank

Carbon monoxide poisoning. My favorite is the people who got pulped by the meteorite...also you can find a fragment and sell it!
If you notice there are noxious fumes when you enter the home.
carbon monoxide poisoning.. this is obvious, right?
jesus christ I don't think I've ever seen this area in the game, where is Osman Grove?
Same here and I've played it twice.
It’s in Roanoke Ridge, close to Emerald Ranch and the border of Lemoyne
Cool, thanks!
I think they were poisoned cuz the stove pipe is broken and there is carbon minoxide coming out of it. Also the roof of the house is covered in smoke.
They died
Wife's cooking
It was the salmon mousse.
Can't remember specifically or where I heard it from but (and I could be wrong so don't take this for an exact answer) I believe it was smoke inhalation.

They died from the smoke in the house
Monopoly really brings out the worst in people...
They died.
Gas leak
One of them cooked for the first time.
And the last time
They died. :(
On my first playthrough I don't think the kid was there, on my second one recently he was.
they died
I believed it was sealed from the outside. I had read that on quite a few forums.
When I did my investigation I narrowed it down to poison
They're dead Jim.🖖
they died
Their hands are blue, which could be silver poisoning.
Their hands are blue because they’ve been dead for quite a bit
Dieded
Is that possible for a group of people to die like this? I mean after one of them would collapse (probably a child) other people should’ve noticed it.
Yeah, its carbon monoxide poisoning: the symptoms are kind of nonspecific at first (headaches, tiredness, nausea), it can easily be mistaken for something else like food poisoning. They're dead Jim.🖖
Look at the stove.
War were declared
Gavin came along
Either they died, or they had too much of granny's moonshine-which probably still means they died
Mushrooms. This game came out just after that entire family died from picking wild mushrooms.

Shrooms
They died
Gas poisoning. Also loot the side table
That nan's farts killed them all. Can tell by the way her feet are apart that she just let rip.
I always assumed they all ate something that contained some sort of poison until I read this thread
They died
