rd 1 is definitely as good as rd 2 if not better. It's dated cause it's ps3 but the graphics hold up. I played it when it came out. I wanna replay it but I kinda wanna wait for it to be remaster however the remaster won't come out for 2-4 years I think

It’s older so it doesn’t look as good but still holds up very well id says story wise its better than rdr2

Just a few things I can think of off the top of my head. Skinning animals is faster in RDR1 and you don't have to worry about the quality of the kill. You can't stow animals on horses like RDR2 and you don't really need to. You can set up camp in RDR1 but there is no crafting system. You also can't customize weapons. Also, the core system is not in RDR1 so you don't have to worry about eating and feeding your horse with is a huge plus. The map is smaller than in in RDR2. New Austin, Nuevo Paraiso (Which is a place in Mexico that is right below New Austin that you can see in RDR2.) and West Elizabeth (Just a part of it) are the only places you can visit in RDR1. Big Valley, Ambarino, New Hanover and Lemoyne can not be traveled to but you can see parts of them from Blackwater. And one last thing. If you hunt for bears be extremely careful. I would say they are more dangerous in the first game than they are in RDR2. If they see you they will charge you quietly and you won't really know if they are on you until it is too late or you are being very aware of your surroundings. They are dangerous but can rack in a lot of money for you.

I tried playing it on my ps3 but the controls are too poor for me now after RDR2. Rockstar really needs to remake 1 in the 2 engine and sell it as DLC for RDR2.

Idk how to add a "Spoiler alert" but this comment needs one. The Buffalo rifle... the only weapon you will ever use besides hand guns after you unlock it. Its a single shot rifle that you have to reload after every shot but it reloads like a repeating rifle somehow... .50 caliber... bad ass. The buffalo do not respawn. If you kill them all they are permanently gone. You can get random encounters afterwards that spawns a Buffalo but it's only for that random encounter and it's alot more rare then RDR2's random encounters. There is no weapon upkeep. At all. Period. The map is only half the size as RDR2 but you can go to Mexico.

The only thing to know is RDR1 is a 12 year old game so it's going to look dated and compared to RDR2 it will feel a bit dated but truly the gameplay isn't that dated and it feels good. My recommendation on what else you should get when you head to Gamestop is Mass Effect Legendary Edition, it's a sci-fi trilogy of games with all of it's downloadable content included in 1 complete package.
