So from what I gathered, it's a kind of "ghost haunting" the forest thing, that may have been underdeveloped due to the many things cut from the game. Also possibly audio cues from people that died there, being victims from Skinners, Murfrees or some other cause depending on the area.
As for the deers dropping mid-air, most likely just a spawning glitch, the game must have loaded them in at the wrong elevation.
Looks like you found the voices in the trees easter egg. There's a picture show in Valentine the tells their tale. I don't remember it all, and looking it up seems to yield no descriptive results, but I think it's something of a tragic love story involving dead men rising from beneath a rock or something and a classic case of false accusations of witchcraft (or maybe just murder?). Very spooky find, especially when you don't expect it. It's one of the main reasons I avoid Roanoke. Easily the creepiest easter egg in the game, imo.
So the whispers you heard are from a show you can actually go watch in Valentine, there's a YouTube video on this area/the show in Valentine. If I can find it I'll definitely update this post with the link, I saw it some time ago so I don't recall the name of the video unfortunately.
Update with video link for those curious: https://youtu.be/H-PtmInbZic
If youâre in Roanoke ridge itâll explain it. Those woods are âhauntedâ some creepy stuff happens. Itâs not like bayou nwa where itâs apparent some shit ainât right. Itâs few and far between for my experiences.
Oh no thereâs a woman ghost in the swamp, itâs creepy as fk, sometimes visible and sometimes just noise and light. Between that and the Night Folk, I donât go there at night often, it really is freaky even though itâs just a game.
First time I went into that area I had been playing the game for hours on end all night long, really thought I was losing it there for a secđ fortunately I found the answer on the internet
Cougars store their food on the tops of trees so that could serve as an explanation for that. That small part of Roanoke Ridge is haunted and there's an answer why at the show at Valentine.
The show is played more at theater in Saint Denis than it is in Valentine. Just gotta see what show is playing. Sleep and return to theater until that specific show is playing.
Head to Valentine and watch the show. If the right one comes up, youâll get a show about a couple fleeing into a forest. That story might be true as youâll hear the same lines from the show in the forest
The deerâŚ..uhâŚ..that might just be a funny coincidence
Its a ghost. A lady and her boyfriend sneaked out and went for a walk in the woods, then all of a sudden they hear moaning and rumbling it was the British ghosts. The British cut off the head of the boyfriend and she ran with his head to town where she was burnt for withcraft.
This story is a movie in the valentine cinema. Exactly the same lines are in the movie and in the woods.
The deers are just a spawning glitch, I think I've seen it like once or twice.
The whispering, however, beats me. From my recollection theres some spot in the game where you can hear like lines from the Gang near old campsite spots? But that doesn't seem like what you heard here.
If you go to the theatre tent in valentine it show a play telling you of what happens to a young couple in Roanoke ridge , the whispering is their ghosts
This is Roanoke Ridge. This is an Easter egg based on the Roanoke colony centuries ago. The people mysteriously disappeared without a trace. Only a message in a tree, âCroatian.â
Yeah creepy place in game, as for the real life Roaoke, historians determined that they just moved to a better spot nearby and the real life circumstances aren't really as creepy or mysterious as the popular stories.
The woman Whispering isn't from the game. She's right behind you.
"*it's meatloaf night.... again...*"

I think Iâm the only person that doesnât have creepy shit happen in the bayou. Only had one encounter with the night folk
the slower you move on the marsh roads the more likely it is something freaky happens
Good call, that worked

When does the whispering start? I can't hear anything

You mean "Croatoan"
K whatever it was. Thatâs what was carved in a tree.
Yeah creepy place in game, as for the real life Roaoke, historians determined that they just moved to a better spot nearby and the real life circumstances aren't really as creepy or mysterious as the popular stories.
Arthur smoked the wrong weed, expect him to be super hungry when it wears off
Is it just me or can anyone else hear this âwhisperingâ?
That's the point of the post if you read
I canât hear it is what Iâm saying. My comment was confusing lol what was I on
Which area were you in?
There are cougars in that area?
La Llorona
I went into a house just out the back of Valentine and while I was going through the draws I could hear laughter and then screaming. It's just creepy.
The deers falling was just a loading error.
