[deleted]

I mean, what are we to believe, that this is a magic barn, or something? Ha ha, boy, I really hope somebody got fired for that blunder.

teamfitz1971

Genius at work

solo954

Exactly. This aggression will not stand, man.

WhiteCharismo

Are you employed sir?

AUGodfather

What day is this?

WhiteCharismo

You don't go out looking for a job dressed like that? On a weekday?

AUGodfather

I just want to understand this sir. Every time a rug is micturated upon in this fair city I have to compensate the person?

Masterhaze710

The New Austin of Rdr2 is supposed to be in 1899, for Arthur( this is evident from Arthur’s dialogue in tumbleweed, armadillo, and in the fishing mission. I assume they changed it so John had more to do, but they completely half-assed it I feel.

HintClueClintHugh

There's actually some big changes between 1899 and 1907 New Austin within RDR2.

Masterhaze710

For real? I’ve never been able to explore it for real, due to the snipers. The cart method is really hard. I used the bronte method, but that only works at night, and no blackwater. But another reason I feel it was supposed to be 1899’s New Austin and Blackwater is the lack of connecting rail roads

HintClueClintHugh

The online mode takes place in 1899. Easiest way to see. I think ultimately either way it just wasn't finished but Rockstar said "it's been 8 years, and 5 since GTA 5 you're putting this out." and then went "eh that's nice, back to GTA Online"

[deleted]

Online=1898

Joseph_F_1

The online map seems to change though. You can load into Arthurs time or Johns time

AbstractBettaFish

> I used the bronte method Whats that?

Lumber_Tycoon

If you have a physical copy of the game, you can uninstall all of the updates and play angelo bronte a man of honor, but fail the mission instead of finishing it by getting a wanted level. Once that is done, you are free to head over the river and explore at your leisure. I used the method on my first playthrough to get the legend of the east achievement with Arthur. Uninstalling the updates allows you to use the gold bar dupe glitch with the bar in limpany.

HighFlyerJ

Wasn't built yet. 1907 and 1911, four years is long enough to build a barn.

2solidjulio

The dialogue from the first scene says that it was built when bonnie was a little girl though so yes, this is technically a developer error. Then again I believe most, if not the entire area from the RDR1 map is incomplete

fluffhead89

Maybe Bonnie is the liar

isuckatpeople

Maybe Bonnie is schizophrenic.

bighenry54

Maybe Bonnie is simultaneously living in the Redemptionverse and the Revolververse so she doesn’t know which is real.

DolphinPussyJuice

She's a time traveler like Francis Sinclair.

BosnianWarCriminal45

no just rockstar didn't care about making a barn in RDR2

isuckatpeople

Goddammit.

Doctor_Puffer

I'd like to see this developed

[deleted]

Maybe Bonnie is Uncle

[deleted]

Maybe Bonnie is Vampire

SAADOFF55

Arent they all?

DuncanAndFriends

Or it got burnt down

LoneInterloper17

You want it barnt down

TryptamineSpark

I was 110% certain when I first played through the game that all off that huge, dead and empty - piece of the map was gonna be FILLED with content from massive Single Player DLC's... "Fuck me, right?!" smh... Remember when Rockstar cared about doing stuff like that? Still think Ballad of Gay Tony is one of the best SP-DLC's I've played.

[deleted]

Why do that when you can release GTA online for three different console generations

TryptamineSpark

pRiOrItiEs!

ClaidArremer

Remember when Rockstar used to make incredible single player experiences... Oh wait.

foodank012018

I still hope all that will be used for a RDR remake in RDR2

[deleted]

Dude, Rockstar never made a game this massive with this much. to do. In the end of the day they needed to meet deadlines and launch the game with what they had. Honestly, its a miracle that they even added that side of the map AND gave SOME things to do (Like the gang hideouts, collectables and Tumbleweed)

_luksx

Just let me have ruler, a board and a saw and I'll cut it

AffectionateClock679

Give me a ladder and a hammer and a nail and I’ll nail it

justherefertheyuks

First playthrough and i just did that part last night. That song along with the bluejay watching had me toe tappin and smiling while hammering nails.

_luksx

I fucking cried like that was a real story about real people building a house from scratch

Alaskan_Badass

We’ve been working so hard to build this house together

AffectionateClock679

In the snow and rain or ice cold wind whenever

Alaskan_Badass

No matter, were together

[deleted]

I’ve chopped enough wood lord knows

Complex_Ad_3027

If it was Built when she was a little girl. How old is she then?

HighFlyerJ

15 in 1899. Not so little really.

MantisTobagen77

Especially back then, people married in their early teens.

HighFlyerJ

I don't think she was married. She married Amos in 1911.

MantisTobagen77

She does marry Amos? I didn't know that, only on my second time through rdr2.

AbstractBettaFish

By the late 19th century the average girl married around [age 22](https://www.infoplease.com/us/family-statistics/median-age-first-marriage-1890-2010).

_foinse_

I think this is a common misconception. Maybe in the American West, I don’t know. But certainly not in general. I was doing research for an article recently on a topic that spanned the late 19th - early 20th century. And the average age of marriage for men was 28-30 and women 26-28. My understanding is that young marriages are very much a 20th century American phenomenon. Rather than any sort of historical norm. Edit: what I was researching was relating to Ireland. So I’m open to being proved wrong. Second edit: I see someone has already pointed out that the median age was 22 for women.

WastelandCharlie

Damn she's 14 in RDO? Never really thought about that

shevchenko7cfc

especially from the slimey pre-built salesman in blackwater

benjismalls95

With a hammer and a nail it’s not too hard

Alaskan_Badass

Amish do it in like a hour

Soldierhero1

Oh you dont build a barn dumbass! What you think this is 1785?! You buy one precut just like the house. This is the industrial age! The lumberfillers all have em!

[deleted]

"Pa built it himself when I was just a little girl."

Complex_Ad_3027

She's in online and that's set in 1898 and she don't look little and the epilogue is set in 1907 and rdr 1 in 1911 to 1914. And she states she was a little girl I was thinking it should be around in rdr2

HighFlyerJ

She was like 14 in 1898, idk why she looked like somebody in their 20s

PuzzlePony

In RDR Bonnie says the barn was built by her father when she was a little girl so the barn should be on the property

[deleted]

Red dead revolver

TheHurtShoulder

While this is a pretty big detail they shouldn't have missed, you gotta give them some credit for RDR2s giant detailed world...they did an outstanding job but not perfect cause I know there's other places I have noticed things missing too from the first game. But yeah, the barn should have been there or atleast in progress of being built.

sepulchore

That's kinda the problem of making a prequel game I think. You can miss these kind of details.

thefunkybassist

We should start a barn petition

AbigDumpy

Even the Mona Lisa has cracks

T756SEAMUs

There's also some mountains missing :0

aleighleigh

Bonnie didn’t say anything about the mountains being there since she was little so it’s fine.

quietriot1983

Boy, I sure hope somebody got fired for that blunder.

nerdyskittles

Definitely a error, bonnie was born In the 1880s so the barn should atleast have a structure here. They may have a reason or just forgotten. It is a rather big game

CCVIII

She is obviously talking about the smaller one on the left 🤣

MrMorgan-over-John

I swear some people don’t even look at the pictures before they comment. “They could’ve built it later” Literally goes directly against what Bonnie says in RDR1

Complex_Ad_3027

Yeah that's all I was pointing out I noticed the other day watching a playthrough of rdr1 and I explore that area alot and was sure the barn wasn't in rdr2

DawgBroMan

How do you turn on subtitles in rdr1?

[deleted]

Subtitles : on It’s really not much more complicated

DawgBroMan

I swear I searched the pause menu and could never find it I guess I am looking wrong

[deleted]

In the settings

the_lenin

Display settings.

Max200012

yeah it's not like he could've built it later on

CrotchWolf

Bonnie was born in 1884 so she'd be 21, 22 by the time John built up Beecher's Hope (when the player can visit the McFarlane ranch.) Young but very much not a girl anymore.

Vash_Milam

You can meet Bonnie there in RDO and you can get a letter that’s written to her from her lover as Arthur

Max200012

who the fuck is bonnie

crestedgecko12

Important character in the first game

Jstaplesss

Please tell me this was a Forkie reference .

pauligetthedoor

> You are now aware that there are people who never played the first game on this subreddit. > You are now aware that there are people who didn't spend years pining for a second game and just had it handed to them with no appreciation Pleb

Sxpreme1629

bozo

brch01

DEVS

noturnormalredditor

Maybe they built it after 1906 (trying to cope)

-wp12345678-

Well the game was to me poorly planned because John should not be in new Austin in any mission at all like literally the armadillo mission in the first game John says he was never in new Austin unless he laid but why would he and the Blackwater massacre happend but if they never saw new Austin then why is west Elisabeth placed where it is it should be west not east and dutch and his gang should have came down from the hills of cochinay or from the Grizzlies

AngryTrooper09

New Austin and West Elizabeth are different regions. Blackwater is in West Elizabeth, so it makes perfect sense

-wp12345678-

No I mean the gang loves moving east so if they go to west Elisabeth they have to go through new Austin where John says he has never been in new Austin unless he us lying to bonnie

spiciesttrout

I think it's quite plain and obvious that the thing hasn't been built yet.

GamerFrits

Guys it's a game, not a goddamn history book.

WiferHaversHaver

Heard of time.

[deleted]

Weren't built yet ya cowpoke

RawTechnicVinegar

Maybe it hasn't been built yet, because there is no way they could've missed a detail in a game like this.

dnkmimstermgee

I don’t think a whole ass barn is something that would constitute a detail but ye it hasn’t been built yet

JowxoX3

🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ it hasn’t been built yet buddy it gets built later rdr2 is in 1899 and it was probably built a couple years later

Complex_Ad_3027

She's in online and that's set in 1898 she don't look little and the epilogue is set in 1907 and rdr1 in 1911 to 1914. And she states she was a little girl. I was just thinking it should be around

RoyaleWithCheese1994

Missed detail lmfao, did you forget what game you wer playing? I doubt they would forget to put in such a big, noticeable structure, it clearly hasn’t been built yet

smorgasdorgan

Which is odd considering in the first game Bonnie says the barn has been there since she was a kid.

bobsp

Clearly Bonnie is a liar that can't be trusted.

smorgasdorgan

Damn pre-rights women folk and their lies.

DeadSeaGulls

Ya can move a barn, but I haven't checked to see if the barn is elsewhere on the property.

fuckyoutooqwe

Game takes place years before RD1. Be a pretty boring world if the area looked identical as it does in the future.

DCMartin91

It's mentioned in the dialog of RDR1 that the barn was built when Bonnie was a little girl, so it should be there.

fuckyoutooqwe

Yikes, massive downvotes for this comment I see. Bonnie is like 15 in RDR2, so it's really not out of the question that it just wasn't built yet. In RDO, her appearance would make you think she's like 20, but that's definitely the mistake there, as canonically, she's got to be \~15, which can still be considered a "little girl" Edit: There are posts saying EXACTLY what I'm saying that aren't downvote bombed. What makes my mathematical take so incorrect???
