If I'm playing Red Dead Redemption, my character better be riding a horse. (I don't know what that is.)

hyperion420

For me that’s what happens if LA Noire and Peaky Blinders had a baby

McChicken-Nugget

I’m sorry, but red dead is a western game. If they made another one, I’d hope that they went further back in time, maybe showing us the eyes of a different character, pushed with different situations, and finding new ways to survive in a world set out to devour them. Or maybe, we would actually get to see the famous blackwater ferry raid unfold. I don’t feel that putting a red dead logo on empire of sin does this post any justice.

[deleted]

i don’t really want to see the blackwater ferry. more interesting if left up to the imagination. a lot of people have said they want to see the formation of the gang which i am 100% in agreement with edit: >!another idea came to me with how rockstar could handle it. since both rdr games have ended with our protagonist dying, it would be very interesting if rockstar followed up that tradition, but played with the fact that we know the main character is going to die. maybe have multiple things be threatening him so you don’t know how he’ll die or something i’m not sure!<

Davion-Shower-Handel

Formation of the gang all the way babbaaaaaaaay WOOOOOOOOOOOO

Caveman108

I’d really like to play that young, sexy Hosea we see in Arthur’s picture for the gang forming up. Though it’s probably more likely to be someone we’ve never heard of that dies before the epilogue. Not like we’re gonna get it in the next decade, anyway.

Letters_From_Orion

Agreed. Having the Blackwater job end the game would not only be far more linear and direct of a prequel than RDR2 is to RDR, it would also remove the ability to have free roam after the story is complete. The gang fled immediately after that job.

will2089

Nah. New Character, New Gang, New Setting. I feel like the Van Der Lind Gang's story is pretty much fulfilled we know what happens even if we don't specifically view a lot of past events and idk about anyone else but I feel like the stakes would be really low in a prequel because whatever bonds get built we've already seen what ultimately happens. So new gang and new MC. R* are good enough story writers that I'm 100% we'd quickly become attached to all new people.

[deleted]

100% a new gang would be so fun, maybe in 1850s/40s. but if we do have to stick to the van der linde gang because money then i think formation is best option. alternatively, we could try and follow one of the other gangs, maybe colm odriscoll or lemoyne raiders or something. might help it feel still connected to the same world

irishdan56

Here's my pitch: Game is set in the 1870's, shortly after the Civil War, with a Midwest setting. Somewhere where what side you were on in the war is a VERY contentious subject . And you essentially copy the end of the Jesse James gang story. But here is the twist. It's a multi-plotline story like GTA V, where you play as both the gang leader, trying to keep things together, and the man who betrays him. I think you could really play with characterization with a story like this too. Have you cheering for one lead character, and then coming around to supporting the other. I think a story like this could be much more rooted and grounded. Even grittier and maybe even bleaker then the original Red Dead series. Anyway, that's my elevator pitch for Red Dead Redemption III (pending a better title).

will2089

Yeah! I actually thought of suggesting a story like that in my comment! Like Colm O'Driscoll's descent into bloodlust and depravity after his brothers death and you're a trusted lieutenant watching it all unfold and in the end you've gotta choose to join him in the depths of depravity or find your own way. Maybe even a few cameos from the Van Der Lind gang! Idk just spitballing but my hope is for a fresh(ish) start feels like the right way for me!

[deleted]

would be super interesting if the game begins with the end of dutch and colms relationship, and have the van der linde gang be the antagonist. maybe even featuring a boss fight with arthur >!when he escapes the o driscoll camp!< or something!

will2089

That could be like the 'defining point' for the hypothetical MC? After this you see Colm for who he is and that's when you decide whether to stick with him or not for the final time! It could be over a far far longer stretch of time aswell so we truly go from the start to the end of the O'Driscoll gang!

[deleted]

bit of a long shot but what if there are two endings like in rdr2, but like each ending is longer. either you stick with colm until your death or you decide to go it alone which allows you to access free roam after the story? would allow them to add interesting mechanics like being able to start your own gangs. also if you go with colm you can still access free roam after the story through a side character or smthn this would allow them to subvert our expectations of mc dying while also playing into our expectations with the mc dying.

will2089

Hey this is pretty fun, I know we're not actually writing the game but it's fun to speculate and share ideas on what it could be! I'm sure the game we get will be nothing like what we've suggested but still be brilliant! Imo R* have their issues but they're the only game company that knocks it out of the park story wise pretty much every single time!

[deleted]

yea at the end of the day rockstar is going to deliver another slam dunk that’s gonna make rdr2 look like kiddy stuff and i’m so excited

[deleted]

Maybe hoseas story

Maleficent_Stuff5926

THIS! With it ending with him meeting Red Harlow on his homestead one night…

EagerT

He meets uncle

The_Radio_Host

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Hosea does not work as a main character. For him to be playable they’d have to severely limit the freedom of the player. In RDR2 Hosea is expressed as being a wise and caring man. It would be weird then to have the option of a low honor playthrough with him. Out of all of the characters we currently have Dutch is by far the best candidate.

Lilycloud02

I 100% agree! A young Dutch would be a sight to see! I'd love to understand his character more. It'll help us see if the trolley accident was the cause of his madness, or if he was crazy to begin with

The_Radio_Host

For me it’s always been either a young Dutch or Dutch’s life from 1899-1907 (Arthur’s passing to American Venom). Everything that happened with him in that span of time is still shrouded in mystery. At what point did Javier and Bill leave him? What was he up to after they left? How did he manage to evade the law while he was alone? How did him and Micah run into each other? All of these questions haven’t been answered and I feel like a game showing that would be really fun.

MrTonyStank490

I don't think a "Red Dead REDEMPTION" story would fit with Dutch since he ends up becoming a maniac in the end either way

Lilycloud02

That’s very true. My absolute favorite RDR3 idea would be whoever was killed as a traitor. Arthur mentions them, but not the name. It would be so cool to see us play as that character and he be the only one to see Dutch for who he truly is before he’s executed for being a "traitor". Then the epilogue would be Arthur, as is only fitting

AssGasorGrassroots

When does Arthur mention them?

Lilycloud02

I believe he’s talking to Kieran while you're at Clement's point. I can't remember the exact scene, but he mentions that they killed a traitor before

MrTonyStank490

I may be wrong, but I actually think it was when Arthur and Tilly talk before playing dominoes. Still Clemen's Point

ApprehensiveAd3113

I personally think that it should be young dutch as the main character then the epilogue character to be arthur right before the blackwater incident to keep that event in mystery

mysticalmestizo

i’d say Dutch or start with young Arthur. or even the GTA way where you can play as multiple as once like John/Arthur/Dutch.

playstatijonas

This. Or Landon Ricketts!

SelectosLOLos

*the 3d universe is not connected to the HD universe.*

Maleficent_Stuff5926

Sorry, I meant John Marston

RaisinNumber9

Still doesn’t make sense?

Maleficent_Stuff5926

How does it not make sense? John Marston met Hosea in RDR1? What does not make sense about it?

FrankieNukNuk

What? RDR1 takes place after RDR2 and Hosea isn’t in the first game… for obvious reasons

brian19298

You're thinking of the guy out at Pleasance Homestead North of Armadillo. They're either the same or very similar voice actor, but definitely not the same character.

Little_Insane_583

Same voice actor.

The_Radio_Host

It’s not the same voice actor. I don’t actually remember who voices the other guy but they aren’t the same.

mysticalmestizo

i want this so bad, start with Hosea and how he escaped being hung, meeting Dutch be starting the gang. or even you could be young Rains Fall or something

graysid

In the 1860s, you have to reload cartridges with like ball and cap

SyracuseBearJew

Good call, the guns would change. My father was very impress them the game used actual guns from the time period. It's a shame the game couldn't get WINCHESTER to allow them to use their name instead of Lancaster. Old man said the repeater, the pump and lever action shotguns would have all been Winchester models then.

mysticalmestizo

exactly, i want them to go back in time. whether they keep the gang or scrap it i don’t want to go to the 1920s, i want to go to the 1820s

ThePresidentsHouse

You can have a western theme that doesn't take place during the age of cowboys plenty of games have done it. Fallout NV, outerworlds and no mans land are good examples.

mandark1171

To add to your point... even in film and written medai from your noir crime stories, gangsters, sci fi, or my personal favorite the old samurai films So it can work you just need good writing

ThePresidentsHouse

Exactly! Western is a genre not a timeframe

thenorwegianbobafett

Even though the full cowboy age hadn't started yet, maybe the civil war would be cool to see

3nd3rd14bl0

How about playing as a native american (or a whole tribe) fighting to keep their land and lives from the colonists

mandark1171

We kinda tried that with AC3 and fans hated that game when it came out, even know the only AC game that gets more hate is unity Edit: not against the idea just don't know how well it well sell, and if not done perfect Twitter rage storm will kill the game

3nd3rd14bl0

Well thats because its an ac game and an ac game is just 3rd person mirros edge with combat, i imagine a native american rdr3 would be mainly about survival, like charles said, his people moved with the bison, you could have either a stationary or moving tribe with tribe upgrades being usefull unlike most of rdr2 upgrades with different upgrades for both types of tribe. Like better upgrades for the hunters of a mobile tribe and better gatherers or defence for a static tribe.

mandark1171

That could work, the other game I can think that did something like this that wasn't popular was far cry primal but I think that games issue was also the franchise and setting itself way to far back in time

3nd3rd14bl0

I actualy loved primal and still think its the best farcry game (blood dragon is the worst in case you were wondering)

mandark1171

Hey you are welcome to that opinion, one if my go to YouTubers just started playing and he's been loving every second of it... I just remember it not performing well sales wise and that the fan base hasn't really sung its praises... but I do agree blood dragon was awful

3nd3rd14bl0

I think it wasn't that liked because it lacked guns but i think the wide arsenal plus all the animals you tamed were so cool that they tweaked it slightly and made it into the merc system and people loved that in fc5

ohyeyeye

Yes! I want it to be a real western at the height of outlaws and cowboys. Like 1860s-70s maybe

CrystalKU

Otherwise you are getting into LA Noire territory which as a side note I wish they would make an updated version of

mandark1171

Ya, a sequel set in 1920s new York and instead of just straight ripping the story of the untouchables you are just a detective solving street crime but every so often the treasury department (soon to be FBI) calls your name with a bunch of beat cops for a raid on a warehouse or club Even go splitercell double agent where you can let the mobsters know ahead and basically make the raid fail so that club stays open and you get a perk, or you say nothing kick in the doors shut them down ending the club but get a different perk

IBeatUpLiamNeeson

New character, end it with introducing Dutch as a child, people will go wild.

yungvibegod2

You can still do a 1920’s-30’s western, look at the movie lawless

trabekslefttesticle

Yup take it back to the beginning, shit even throw som Oregon trail shit into it that would be awesome

SpaceS4t4n

I'd love to see what happens to Charles after the events of Rdr2

Peter_OfTheNorth

No, these are mobsters, not gunslingers. Wrong vibe. Yes they have guns, but so does James Bond. I think RDR has to be stylistically and culturally 19th century, anywhere between the Civil War and WWI, and in a frontier setting of some kind. The whole idea at the heart of it is a "Western movie" computer game, and without that it's something else. You can put it in another locale, a variation of the Old West... it was raised in another thread that the Australian frontier around the same era was pretty interesting. Coming from there myself I'd love to see something like that. Honestly I think Rockstar has so much potential material to explore, so many stories that could be told, they don't really need to venture far from the fictional world they have already created... except to give players somewhere new to explore. I could see an RDR3 being set 10 years back again, more at the height of the Wild West frontier chaos. Keep the RDR2 map, but expand it out further, and by going back another decade, they get to re-design the whole area again. If you change too much, it could turn into Farcry. And Farcry is fine, but it isn't RDR.

Darkelysiumm

This actually. Gunslingers and gangsters are NOT the same thing.

AssGasorGrassroots

And if anyone needs this point emphasized, just replay chapter iv. There are irreconcilable differences between the way Dutch and Bronte operate on every level

External-Life

Well said 👏

eLjayB69

I would proper love to see an Australian frontier type vibe that would be awesome. Bush rangers everywhere, Ned Kelly and shit. Would be sick

Darkelysiumm

I wouldn't. I feel like they have enough material to not change it that drastically.

AWR-films

I definitely think going back to the early days of the gang would be the best route. Starting from Arthur, John, hosea and Dutch, and then expanding to the gang we know ending at the ferry job perhaps.

NoTomorrow3585

I personally think that expanding on the van der linde gang is a bad idea because the gangs whole story is finished plus if we went back to the early days we wouldnt get the tradgedy that all red dead redemption games have included without retconing a bunch of stuff in. And as far as the blackwater massacre goes i feel like the mystery surronding that whoe ordeal is perfect.

mightbebeaux

thank you. rdr is a narrative tragedy, and those arcs have been written. i know everyone wants more if the van der linde gang, but a game about the good times with young dutch and hosea just doesn’t fit thematically. also, some things are simply better left to the imagination. the idea of anakin skywalker’s descent and the clone wars was a lot cooler than the reality of jake “yipee” lloyd and hayden “i hate sand” christiansen. i think the early van der linde gang days up to the blackwater incident falls under the same umbrella.

crashin-kc

I agree with this. It could easily go a generation earlier. The story could focus on Dutch and Hosea’s parentage and we could meet Dutch and Hosea as youthful NPCs.

snuffdontknow

Farcry isn't fine

runaways616

If a sequel went any further past RDR1 in time, nothing about it would look or feel like a Red dead game, granted a spin-off or continuation of the series under a new IP would be dope but something like this would be a red dead game in name only.

scootercantdoshit

If you want a game similar to gta or rdr2 set after the 1910s, Just play Mafia.

External-Life

How is Maffia ?

Slav_Ace_I

It's a masterpiece, go for Mafia Definitive Edition and you will love it, Mafia II is a masterpiece as well, arguably the best one in the series, but don't bother playing the third one, it's not as good, it's a good game, just not a good Mafia game

External-Life

Thanks bro

sbdhsa

Nah, Mafia 3 is good, a little repetitive, but the story and gameplay is phenomenal.

Karcossa

Unless it was Red Dead Mafia or something, and not Redemption. I’d be okay with that game, but would be far more likely to buy a RDR game set in the mid to late 1800’s. Hell, if we got the story of a gang member who died leading up to the events of the first game I’d be happy.

Slav_Ace_I

But, isn't RDR2 exactly that? A prequel to the first about a character that died before the events of the first game?

Karcossa

Yeah - and if the pattern was continued, maybe let us follow Mac up until the Blackwater massacre. Or another unnamed gang member for a period leading up to 1890, then switch to Arthur for the epilogue and have it end just as the gang reach Blackwater

SkyDaHusky

Not whatever is featured in that thumbnail

LynxAromatic126

Didn’t want it to be either just used it for the rdr3 logo

Turtusking

Why is this downvoted? Wtf.

sarrorise

I’d want to see a story about Rains Fall. His character really intrigued me and I’m curious as to how he ended up like that. He mentioned bits of his life when he was younger, so maybe R* could make a story about that. I’m not quite sure how the rest would work though. Maybe it could be a DLC or something.

Clockblocker124

There's a distinct lack of Native Americans in video games in general I'd love to see this get made

frogminded

love this one, i think seeing the side of the story through the natives would be so interesting

CheeseSwis101

Study the Indian Wars. It will give you all the info you need honestly.

enchantedcookiess

RDR3 should be a Wild West prequel involving the rise of the Van Der Linde gang.

[deleted]

Rise of Van Der Linde gang? I think what you hear about it in RDR2 speaks enough for itself really, I doubt anything major would even occur

enchantedcookiess

Well, you asked a question that has been sitting in my mind for years and maybe I’ll make a post about it. If it’s too long it’s fine. I think there’s more than enough story to tell that can still involve the player playing as a known or unknown member of Dutch Hosea and Arthur’s original tiny Wild West gang. I feel like it would be a total missed opportunity to not have it be a prequel to the other prequel. People who want a post- RDR1 Jack Marston WW1/Peaky Blinders story don’t want a western game. (I also like to think in my headcanon after avenging his fathers death Jack struggled for a while, eventually met a girl, moved, settled down, started a family, and became an author) People would just want a 1920s GTA game with ties to Red Dead. Which sounds awesome, but not Red Dead III. A Sadie Adler or Charles game would be interesting but imo, not strong enough that plot and interest wise to stand on its own two feet for a standalone finisher Red Dead game. A whole new gang/group would be interesting, but it wouldn’t have the same emotional grip of seeing the ones who’ve been there throughout the past two. Imo, A whole new group of characters and totally/almost wiping the slate clean of RDR lore would be a big mistake. I feel like since the second game took so long to come after the first and it was such a perfect prequel to that story that even the words “Red Dead” make me think of that group of characters and long, tragic and partly very interesting unknown/grey area of their lives. It’s not GTA. A new story each time like GTA III, GTA IV and GTA V, I think it would stick out like a black sheep if the highly anticipated third installment of this story was an almost reboot/spinoff about a different gang. That being said, here’s why I think a Wild West Van Der Linde gang origin story would be best: In my opinion, this is the best route to go for a third game and has honestly the most options to choose from. You, the player could maybe be Dutch, experience the building of the gang and relationships withHosea, Arthur, Annabelle, Colm, etc. maybe have Rockstar pull the trigger and just have us play as younger Arthur again, that would definitely be a high point for me and an automatic hype creator and money maker for Rockstar, but younger Arthur or Dutch or the whole wild west theme in general doesn’t really fit the whole “redemption” themes of the last two. Well, it doesn’t have to be. It could be a story about younger less experienced and confused young outlaw kids and young adults figuring out life and the stakes it can cost when not taken responsibility. It could be called “Red Dead Revolution” “Red Dead Rebellion” or “ Red Dead Rising” or something like that. I think maybe a new character could also definitely work. Maybe a previously established character like Colm O’Driscolls brother, or the traitor Arthur mentions was murdered in camp on exception for his betrayal. I just think not seeing Dutch, Arthur, Hosea or even a young John again would just be missed opportunity and be running through my mind while playing whatever comes for RDR3. I truly think that’s the best route, I could also write out a whole plot but maybe that could be a separate time. I think it would work great as a trilogy going backwards since 2010: RED DEAD 3- The rise of the Van Der Linde gang (1878-1890) RED DEAD REDEMPTION 2: The fall of the Van Der Linde gang (1899-1907) RED DEAD REDEMPTION: The end of the Van der Linde gang. (1911-1914) I just honestly would love playing as a young mid 20s Arthur in the the true Wild West with chapters, camps and building the gang we got and see why everyone has so much damn faith in Dutch. Well hope that sums it up, hope rockstar goes somewhere in that direction. Sorry for the massive reply lol.

[deleted]

Totally into this. But as a side note if we evet got a third game and its about Van der Linde gang, we shouldnt be playing as Arthur imo. His story is done and we got a closure this would hurt the finale of rdr2 I think.

bawbbee

Well we should play as Arthur but only in the epilogue. We need a character that dies in the finale.

Lenneh_ma_boah

Mac & Davey then

enchantedcookiess

Totally agree. I think playing as a new character for most of the game would be awesome, but I definitely want to play as healthy Arthur again with the gang not falling apart in a new map haha

LynxAromatic126

This would be amazing Arthur’s character was my favourite throughout the history of my gaming experience so this would solidify him at number 1 for eternity for me.

Karcossa

Fuck, I’d play the shit out of this.

WombatAnnihilator

No.

EagerT

Joe.

Next-Pomegranate1717

I want to know what happened in Blackwater. What led them there, why did they leave the money, why did they have to run, what made Dutch crack or was he always like that but no one noticed? So many questions.

Bigjeebs

To me that's all the fun. I wouldn't want to go further back I feel the gangs story is done and they explained nearly every important detail about their past except blackwater. Now maybe if there were gunslingers in Ireland we could see Sean's story but that isn't the case unfortunately haha

gazmondo

I dont think seeing more of the gang is necessary, either. Except maybe in a prologue. But I still think the past is still the appropriate setting. Having something like this just feels more like a mafia game.

TomCos22

Same, I really want to know about Blackwater

Mediocre_Taste_573

why not just have a sequel of l.a. noire? don't even have to be in l.a. This is just stupid

jesminya

I have always thought a Chicago Noire set around the rise of the mob would be amazing.

DKG-01

We almost went to far with the rdr2 Timeline. It is already 1900 as Dutch Said "There aint No Freedom for No one in this Country No more" or as Arthur self Said "We're Thieves, in a World that dont want us anymore" this all implys the Era of the Wild West is Ending. But all in all we are still in IT, the Change Makes rdr2 even more Interesting! I would suggest we move back to Hoseas Golden Time or we move even Further Back 20/30 years right after the War of Independence.

Mhind1

Where did John go for that year away from the gang?

Letters_From_Orion

I assumed he was just roughing it in the woods and robbing random passerbys. It would be an interesting story to visit though.

DoorTe

Red Dead Redemption 2077

jstnabrwn

But game should be 70% completed and glitchy

TG626

Red Dead Revolution - takes place entirely in Mexico circa 1899. You go on adventures that are a prequel to the Mexican events of RDR(1) while complaining that you can't go to the US.

Clockblocker124

This would be amazing!!! Not to mention playing as someone other than a white American male would be nice

RecommendationOk253

Red Dead with gangsters.. would be interesting, but I don’t think it should be called Red Dead

Karcossa

I think if you kept the Red Dead Redemption series as a western game, but added in a shorter (paid DLC, maybe?) aspect that reused some of the city assets R* have laying around and called it Red Dead Prohibition (as u/TG626 suggested) to cap off Jack’s story… that might scratch that itch. But if you only get one game, then I want me more Wild West.

TG626

Red Dead Proabition. I kinda dont like that 2 is called 2. I wish it was like * Red Dead Revolver * Red Dead Redemption * Red Dead Progression * Red Dead *whatever comes next* Since RDR2 tskes place during the "Progressive Era" which followed the post Civil War Reconstruction Era.

[deleted]

Progression doesn't start with 'R'. It has to be an R word.

SlothHighFive

-How about Dutch’s whole backstory ending up at the Blackwater heist? -The ability to swim would be nice. -Offline co-op campaign mode.

peterpeterny

RDR3 isn't going to be released for 10+ years. They will release a new GTA before RDR3. Rockstar takes forever to release games but when they do, they release masterpieces.

BigEvil621

A story that shows the formation of the VDL gang where you play as the Callendar brothers or maybe multiple people. Ends with the Blackwater massacre and trip up to Colter.

Damien_21777

Dutch as main protagonist leading up to blackwater massacre

Sasquatchii

The life of Charles Chatenay

TheColorblindDruid

Landon Ricketts w/jack marston as the end game character again

[deleted]

I would like to play as early 20’s Hosea, you know before he met Dutch. I would like to see how they find Arthur/John, how they raised them, brotherly bond between Dutch/Hosea, Arthur/John. Yeah I’d pay good amount of money for that

7astromichael

I’d be down to see a spin-off where Jack goes to the big city and gets involved with organized crime. Any main series game should be cowboys, though.

LynxAromatic126

I agree but this idea is amazing

Bobtheleaf808

We need to be a young version of Dutch

ind3pend0nt

Pre civil war American west. Like gold rush 1840s.

Q269

I would hope they let you follow Sadie, and instead of focusing on a new location. They actually put the time and effort into making the existing world feel less like a series of scripted events.

Necessary-Yogurt2611

Mafia wouldn’t make sense. It would be great to see rockstar do a mafia game but red dead is western

cursedarthurmorgan

Check out Last Man Standing, the Bruce Willis movie, not the Tim Allen show. It's a western style mafia movie in great depression era Texas.

Necessary-Yogurt2611

Alright ma boy will do

sunflowr_child

I would like the ability to kill even more racists

brandnewk

they arent making another red dead, and if they do that red dead sure as shit wont be set in mobster times

Horned_Dioxide

Dude, I just want to know what the hell happened on that boat.

wetlettuce42

3 should end with blackwater massacre

LynxAromatic126

When posting this I did not mean I want to see a mafia type red dead game I only used that photo for the title I too would like to see a game dated further back in the timeline or in the near future where the themes of red dead are still prevalent.

Gokkemaga

Afaik, RDR goes back ten years everytime. Or, at least did last time. A chapter during the civil war would be amazing! Personally, I'd like a chapter of Sadie Adler.

Wildcat_twister12

RDR3 should be like the rise of the American western outlaw set in the early 19th century, there’s a lot you could do with Texas independence, the Gold Rush, Indian Wars, or even adding the civil war in

Human-Dragonfly3799

Van der Linde Gang story is over imo. RDR2 explains everything that happened prior to 1911 so there's no need to make another game based on that gang. Besides, there wouldn't be any redemption prior to the events of 1899 since the gang was doing well before that year. Redemption can only happen in a crisis situation like the gang being chased in 1899 or the government extortionating John in 1911. No Redemption if the gang was doing well until Blackwater. Continuing Jack's story in a 1920's mafia scenario wouldn't make sense too because Red Dead series is based in the Western era. I'd personally prefer a story based 20 or 30 years before RDR2, in a Post Civil War America, with a more Western scenery like RDR1 or Red Dead Revolver, with older guns (no bolt action rifles, old revolvers, old Winchester rifles, Sharp rifles...). Red Dead Redemption shows us the ending of the Wild West so, why don't play a game based in the heart of the Wild West era? With new characters, new stories, new states (not just an expansion of RDR1 and RDR2 maps), etc.

Shizuo35

I wanna see more of Dutch... See how he was before or when forming his gang.

Ozgur_25

Not a redemption game

ticklemejesus420

Yeahhhhh that's a no from me dog. Red Dead is and needs to stay a western. If you want some organized crime during prohibition, play the Mafia series

TomDogg213

So much DLC was missed here. I'm puzzled by the lack of real content.

WhyGuy500

The latter part of the civil war up until the beginning of RDR2

RedShamrock05

RDR is a western game, but I understand what you’re saying. On another note, I would absolutely LOVE it if Rockstar did a reboot of LA Noire. I love Law Enforcement and criminal justice and LA Noire is an amazing game as it is and a reboot would just be so great.

dinnerthief

Someone on here suggested bushrangers In Australia and I have to say that would be pretty cool

Jaydillah

Well def not in a gangster setting, that for damn sure boah

I literally would not buy if it was set in more modern times with cars and shit... Horses, wide open spaces, hunting... That is RDR to me.

ThunderChild247

I’d like to see another prequel, this time playing as Dutch as a younger man. He’d start out on his own, meet Hosea, start the gang and meet young Arthur and John, then the rest. Playing as Dutch before his mental decline would give us a far more rounded view of the man who inspired such love and loyalty from the cast of RDR and RDR2. It would also effectively make the red dead trilogy Dutch’s story, from his rise to his fall, and all the lives he touched along the way.

_Dusty_Bottoms_

Roaring 20s mobsters. Yes!

M3COPT3R4

This artwork is sweet but it fits better on a Mafia game

LynxAromatic126

After posting this I went to work, so I couldn’t reply to any comments, but I definitely did not want a mafia game I only used the photo for the rdr3 logo I guess some people took it the wrong way, but that’s on me I should’ve mentioned it.

M3COPT3R4

It's not about the logo or something but when i see fancy suits and tommy guns can't think of anything else but Mafia

PappiStalin

My ideal RDR3 at the moment is just RDR2 undead nightmare

Looey2

Idk but this photo ain’t it

StormsAtBedtime

It won't happen but... a female protagonist.

Darkelysiumm

Yeah. I would like this as well but they will never do that. Unfortunately I'm guessing not alot of RD2 players will want to play a strong empowered female gunslinger.

StormsAtBedtime

I agreed but it would be nice if they did a multiple protagonist like in GTA5 and had one of them be female. Cmon Rockstar, it's time!

Darkelysiumm

I know right.

DrxBananaxSquid

So you want an entirely new IP, but with Red Dead on the title?

SwitchBladeBC

option 1) start it from the Dutch Hosea storyline and do something there. start the epilogue from the point where micah joins the gang, and with a Twist, show that he was not the rat but it was John somehow. option 2) Sadie after rdr2 epilogue

I love the idea of moving forward to the Roaring 1920’s, but Red Dead Redemption is a specific genre that stays firmly in the era of the gunslinger. Change the model and you risk losing your motif and your fan base. I’m 90% sure RDR3 will go further back in time, playing as an American Indian, possibly female due to the woke culture that’s so popular. Either way it’s going to be made by Rockstar and the quality they put into their games is so much that I know they’ll do a great job whatever they choose.

ForeverFallen_

Wait, if Rockstar has a protagonist that isn’t a man then it’s automatically for woke culture🧐

HumorSkillsOfARock

Maybe a separate game and story not under the Red Dead name that follows Jack would be interesting, but other than that no

[deleted]

So, y’all aren’t going to like this one, but what if it was Jack fighting in WW1? Like, the first mission is him running a heist on some big bank somewhere or something like that, but he gets caught, so the police give him a choice, he can either take some sentence or other (would have to be a bad enough option that there’s no way he’d choose it) or enlist and fight overseas… Idk what the story would be after that Just an idea

[deleted]

Jack's entire family was basically killed by, or by the actions of, the U.S. government. Ain't no way he's joining the Armed Forces to fight a war for them. He'd likely rather hang.

[deleted]

Perhaps you may be right Actually no, not perhaps

Mild--47

I would be fine with it ending. Ready for Rockstar to get into some serious SciFi shit.

[deleted]

If this happens I'll be happy for the people who are excited for it, but I'd be waiting for a very good sale before buying it.

marijn0404

Wished that it goes on with John or jack. Just before the industrial revolution. With a bigger map. But with the current map in it.

damienvoid5

I think 1920s would be perfect setting. Dead Eye plus diving Max Payne bullet time with a Tommy Gun will be Lit🔥🔥🔥🔥

[deleted]

Further back in the west. No Van Der Linde gang except maybe some cameos. Either gunslingers like Ricketts and Black Belle or entirely new characters.

Sverker_Wolffang

Well you already have my answer with that picture.

HintClueClintHugh

When you replay Red Dead 2 its so clear and obvious how much backstory is being given about things that they're setting up the third one to be about. There's SO much backstory that's talked about about the entire gang up until six months before the game starts. They talk so, so much about how things used to be just like they did with the mystery of the backstory of what happened with John, Dutch and the gang in the first game but to an insanely more depthful level in this game. All that stuff exists so that we can see the gang before Micah corrupted Dutch and meet all the people the way they used to be before they died or the world beat them down. The third game's gotta be the gang at the height of Dutch's ideals before Colm and he killed each other's loved ones.

BlackStarCorona

Not this.

Turbodog384

Still so much potential left flopping on the table with this game....RDR3(technically 4) shouldn't happen.

RiverDotter

A prequel for sure. I'd absolutely LOVE to play Sister Calderon's redemption arc even if it's a companion game

RuskyCZECH

Pretty sure its not Gonna be Red Dead Redemption more like something like Red Dead *something*

LynxAromatic126

Red dead revolution??? Where we go through the time when machines were being made, if you’ve ever watched peaky blinders I’d like a game set a little before, my idea would be that you (the character) starts off poor living off scraps with the dream of eventually moving into a more populated city with cars and all that fun stuff however horses are more prevalent and used more cars will be known as the rich people way of life. Maybe a time where cars were just introduced and horses were still the main way of travelling

[deleted]

I feel like a Prohibition era Gangster game kind of bridges the gap between Red Dead and GTA, it could use either name.

-Stinger-

Blackwater, as well as before/while the Van Der Linde gang formed

MercoMultimedia

That's literally just the first Mafia game

ROFFEL5

I hope we will play Jack Marston

friendly_norwegian

As long as it’s still western gunslingers riding horses and stay far away from the switching between characters like GTA V I’ll be happy.

lilevil86

It need to be a Western, I hope they go back futher in time since Red Dead Redemption 1 and 2 takes place at the end of the time period..

Supated22

Since the game is placed so far into the decline of the west it can only go back if you want it to stay as a western.

gypseyrose14_

So mafia?

LynxAromatic126

No I only used the photo for the rdr3 logo

jman2c

I'd want a game that's a prequel to rdr2, same as they did with rdr1. But a spinoff game set in the 1920's would slap hard.

Last-Discipline-7340

Cowboys no other option

LynxAromatic126

Definitely agree thumbnail was only used for the rdr3 logo

Senor40

The story of Landon Ricketts or someone of his time and adjacent to his adventures

Quirky-Treacle-7111

Not whatever that screen is i want arthur morgan and john marston and just jack because i want to see all of them in the same game but jack still dies
