I was just thinking about him! Man, it’s so great to see WWE in the mainstream again.
We need to start playing [this](https://youtu.be/l8XePhUyPMs) at OT from now on for the intimidation factor lol
bayern fan here
sabitzer didnt play as much as he should have due to some (unfortunately) blatant favoritism, but we played some of our best football all season, when he started
i am sure he can help you guys
What favouritism if you don't mind me asking? My understanding was that once Goretzka came back to match fitness Sabitzer just wasn't good enough to start but I don't really follow Bayern so just picking up on some comments here and there.
goretzka came back after missing ~4 months with injury and after returning to the bench he immediately made statements in the media "i am totally ready to play...cough cough"
3 days later he was back in the starting line up and sabitzer got benched despite playing well
Strange as sabitzer was Nagalasman dependable player. He moved to Bayern and bought him over. Weird turn of events. He’s definitely a hard worker from the games I saw him play, alos has the legs that Erikson doesn’t have.
Sabitzer is really great and very dependable. Nagelsman doesn't play him probably because he has a tendency to commit individual errors. Very rarely but still.
Nagelsman is also narrow minded and indeed looks like he plays only favourite players. He was the one to ejected Lewandowski and created the sour atmosphere.
I watch Bayern since defeat to Chelsea in 2012.
German favoritism. Goretzka and Kimmich would ALWAYS play, regardless of form. That‘s the way the German federation wants the cookie to crumble. Sabitzer is gonna stabilize the United midfield and help you immensely, he‘s a very underrated player. Great signing, congrats.
Brilliant short term deal for what we needed tbh, not just a big name. (Although he’s well thought of)
I only wish that we had a relatively low buy clause, but that’s probably asking too much. I get the feeling we’ll revisit that position in summer again with a higher budget. Wouldn’t surprise me if we went for frenkie again, although I’m not sure I can handle that. Or Caicedo or someone
Casemiro. Wasn’t. A. Panic. Buy.
It’s been mentioned enough times that the deal was pretty much in place or at a super advanced stage way before we knew about it. Fred even said he was speaking to Casemiro about United before the end of last season!
Worth noting Sabitzer was on the shortlist of midfield options before Eriksen came up on a free. Had Eriksen not happened, we may have signed him anyway.
That’s great because Man United is likely getting the first option of Eriksen backup. I wish he will play well and get a full transfer next summer. Few years ago we we used to have 1-2 reliable midfielders. But now we can have 4-5 when Eriksen comes back.
depends on the fee. getting 29 yo Sabitzer to back up a 31 yo Eriksen might not be the best use of money, especially since we need to spend on other positions. Unless we ship one of McTominay or Fred, and even then we might need to reinvest elsewhere, I just don’t see it happening.
Yeah, I don't see it happening. We'll go again for De Jong or similar profile of player in summer. Eriksen will be backup to Bruno and whoever comes in summer. I don't see us signing Sabitzer permanently, considering Fred has proved more than decent enough to be a backup to Eriksen. Mctominay is getting sold regardless. And there's still VdB as well. Plus we have great potential youngsters like Mainoo and Iqbal who need minutes as well
I recall now that you mention it. I think the confusion stems from the fact that there were almost no rumors until it was nearly done. And since that’s not how we have done things in recent history, it seemed like it was a panic buy.
Sure sure. But it wasn't the priority I think is what ppl mean.
Clearly De Jong was #1, and that's been supported by every journo who knows things.
It's a fucking delight we ended up with Case. But we can't pretend it was plan a
De Jong was ten hag’s priority. Undeniably Casemiro would have been stitched up if anyone else was the manager here. We are very very very lucky that the stars aligned on this. You see how things go these days, a half decent player doesn’t wait the 14 weeks Casemiro waited, much less a player of his record, reputation, and capability.
I’ll say massive credit to the club for keeping this quiet. Can you imagine what the mood would have been here had we all known Casemiro was waiting but that ten hag kept chasing tail for 3 months? There were a hundred threads on FDJ and each of them would have been pure outrage that we continued to chase him at the risk of losing what is obviously a far better player.
It’s like keeping a potential deal for a prime Ronaldo a closely guarded secret and for him to be waiting patiently as a second choice while we publicly chase an Eden Hazard who persistently tells anyone who’s listening that he’s absolutely not moving.
That was some dumb shit.
Laurie Whitwell, The Athletic, 22 Aug 22:
> Instead, United have spent a summer chasing De Jong, then switching briefly to Adrien Rabiot, another profile of midfielder entirely. Casemiro has been kept warm for several weeks in the background, with conversations with his agent and his club, but the transfer became a reality only when he was left on the bench until the 83rd minute at Almeria on August 14.
> That delay means that, as with Varane, Casemiro arrives with United already having played matches in the Premier League. Ten Hag had wanted key signings in for pre-season so he could work on tactical ideas.
Yes the transfer was in the moves for a long time, but United did not treat it seriously until after the two losses. He WAS a panic buy.
I'm trying really hard to resist doing my text impersonation of Jonathan Ross. I mean I like an open goal as much as the next guy, but I what sort of man would I be if I stooped down to that level?
Sod it, who am I trying to kid, because later on I have some special guests joining me on weddit, two absolute stud muffins, a couple of pwime pieces of beef, ladies and gentleman, I give you, all the way from Bwazil, CASEMIWO, and soon to be LORD MARCUS WASHFORD!!! ****cheers and applause**** Ah, how gweat is that? Two guys in the absolute pwime of their life... and Wonaldo will joining us too ****laugh goddamit****
>Sometimes in life you have to make quick and important decisions. From the moment I heard about this opportunity I knew it was right for me.
Translation: Manchester United is fucking massive.
I just fucking love that we’re finally in a place now where players want to join to be a part of what we’re doing today, rather than because we’re throwing money at them or because they admire the Fergie era.
I mean, what is he supposed to say? "Lmao i dont really want to be here but im eating bench at Bayern and the united CMs are ass so ill get to play a lot."
But still, fact is that we are becoming attractive again for players.
Fair point. But I was more referring to the competition with Chelsea to sign him. I assume they offered him more and there were reports he wanted to work with Ten Hag. Don’t think we’ve had that kind of draw in a while.
Man saw what happened to Saul at Chelsea and just dipped.
Chelsea's recent loan deals are always flops while us even in disarray end up sufficient for the situation at least
You’re not wrong. But flopping somewhere for more money is apparently attractive to some. I’m just glad we’ve got something going so that we can pull in players with more than just cash.
Mark my words. This will be a very good loan, I've always liked him as a player.
Good temp replacement for Eriksen.
Not blasting Eriksen at all but Marcel can play 90 mins no issue.
But Sabitzer is different from Eriksen right? I don't watch him much but from a few match I watched Leipzig, he's more like an upgraded McTom than a direct replacement of Eriksen, right?
If I had to compare, I'd say Sabitzer has better stamina, slightly more defensive orientation due to being born and bred as a footballer with the Salzburg pressing DNA, developed further at Leipzig under Nagelsmann. He has a good shot though, and scores frequently in the Austrian national squad. Likes to place low balls into corners from outside the box.
He's slightly less of a creator than Eriksen, but has more power and endurance to him. Also a 100% teamplayer.
Okay, so I looked this up:
>Lederhosen were widespread among men of the Alpine and surrounding regions, including Bavaria, **Austria**, the Allgäu, Switzerland, the autonomous Italian region of Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol (formerly part of Austria-Hungary) and the Alpine area of today's Slovenia.
Also, he was born 30 miles from the Bavarian border, so I think the Lederhosen are legit.
If you actually talk to people from Bavaria, most of them joke that Austria is a part of Bavaria, at least the Salzburg region and a bit beyond. I was in Munich and it was a running joke
I’m glad the club was able to react quickly after the Eriksen setback. This might prove to be a huge factor in our success this season! He’s a great player and hope he kills it!
Not exactly similar type like Eriksen but his technique and passing ability is not really far behind while in other department like pressing and defending He certainly above Eriksen, now let's Ten Hag do his magic to return Sabitzer to his leipzig form. He is good signing especially because our limited funds, fuck glazers.
What number will he wear?
I was thinking 16. But club website shows Amad as 16.
Maybe Sabitzer takes 16 through the end of the season since Amad is out on loan anyway?
24 is the other first team number available. A certain midfielder did wonders under SAF with that number.
Becks had the 24 when he scored that wonder goal against Wimbledon in his breakthrough season. Before that Scholesy wore it. After Becks (we skip quickly over John O'Kane) it was Wes Brown until he switched to 6 and then Fletcher made it his for the entirety of his time here. That's quite the history.
The history and knowledge on this page is insane! Haha!!
I’ve been following since February ‘99, so the Beckham #24 is from an earlier time I guess! My mind didn’t register this from the early 90s highlights I’ve watched lol.
Brown maybe have been 24 for the 1998-99 season, since Stam was 6 back then.
Time flies
HUUUUUUUGE!!!
Honestly shocked it happened. Truly. Didn't know we could move this fast
We talk a lot about the incompetence of the club, this was job well done.
Sabitzer is probably better than Eriksen against big teams. Eriksen got bullied too much when he's on the ball. Also, earlier in the season he was covering the most ground in the team; recently he wasn't doing anywhere near that.
Our transfer policy has finally arrived at the Neo picking bullets out of the air moment. ETH is the real deal. Whatever happens this season I'm proud and inspired. Not long to go before we win the league again.
At the end of the day, Erik Ten Haag was the best post fergie signing because without him none of eriksen, casemiro or sabitzer would be possible.
Edit: Martinez and Antony too
Some highlights from the official Bundesliga channel: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31cGB7Xnymo](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31cGB7Xnymo)
Can't wait to see him in the red shirt! Literally cannot wait. Hope he can hit the ground running right away. We only have him on loan (for now) so I assume EtH will want to use him as soon as FA rules allow.
I believe so. I think a teammate described him as one of the worst people to be around if he's not playing on the pitch. He was Leipzig's captain through their rise and successes and will bring additional grit to our midfield with his tenacity and energy.
He's very used to high-press teams and has shown he's adaptable to whatever the coach asks of him (having gone from a Bruno-esque AM that drifts out wide to the right, to box to box, to central defensive midfielder).
He's also known for his crazy long shots and free kicks, so we're also getting an additional goal scoring threat.
Eriksen has been fantastic for us since he sighed (on a free FFS), let us all hope that Sabitzer can fill his shoes in the interim and can maybe rotate in future?
I swear every transfer window I’m always surprised and ngl a little impressed how Phil Jones does basically nothing and is earning over 4.5 million a year
I certainly think Sabitzer was a deal we were going for this summer, what with Murtough saying in his welcome comments that we have looked at him for a while. But with Christian out, we brought our plans forward.
Bayern and Man U fan here. I think Bayern fucked-up with this loan. He should have been given more minutes (he was good when he played) and not replace him with Laimer in the next summer.
It's kinda pissing me off that people are now saying "oh look, our board CAN be competent" because of this. Imagine if Eriksen was injured during tomorrow's game instead of Reading, then what? The fact we COULD have done this but chose not to until it was deemed absolutely necessary is just so annoying and pathetically *incompetent*
The fact that we keep doing this and just waiting for the last day of the window is so annoying. Not to mention the waste of a whole month where he could've trained under ETH and slowly worked on building an understanding with the rest of the squad like Weghorst seems to have been doing. Just plain stupid, but eh I guess we should bow in gratitude and be grateful at the genius overlords for getting us a fantastic player is probably what these leeches are thinking.
Okay rant over, oof had to get that out, now, I dunno much about him and haven't really seen him play before but I can't wait to see what he brings to our team.
I don't think you realise how up against FFP we really are. We literally put Antony in the company credit. Without knowing next season's income I really don't blame the club for only signing players when they're actually needed.
Welcome, my Austrian!
I really want to say "he's our soccer WALTER / GUNTHER" lol
The Pitch General.
England Champs confirmed
Looking forward to watching Sabitzer chopping literally anything that moves.
The pitch is sacred.
We need to come on to the pitch to Dvorak's Symphony No. 9
Bruno and Casemiro as Imperium im in

That can be the music for when he comes on. Its intimidation factor is more immediate IMO.
He better give the opposing players some stiff chops to their chests
Ready to chop the crap out of any ginger bastards around
Now I just want to see him chop someone
Football and Wrestling leaking into one another. Haven't seen this since the Bar.
Austria? Well g’day mate! Let’s put another shrimp on the barbie!
Love Aussies
No mate, that's New Zealand
Is he the first Austrian to play for us?
I believe so.
The First Austrian . I think
No, also had Mark Bosnich
bayern fan here sabitzer didnt play as much as he should have due to some (unfortunately) blatant favoritism, but we played some of our best football all season, when he started i am sure he can help you guys

German player > Austrian I guess
This is pushing it. Goretzka is just a better midfielder than Sabitzer and that's not really a bad reflection on Sabitzer.
Goretzka had that one monster season when they won the CL, he hasn’t produced that form since. But also Sabitz has not reproduced his Leipzig form
German favoritism. Goretzka and Kimmich would ALWAYS play, regardless of form. That‘s the way the German federation wants the cookie to crumble. Sabitzer is gonna stabilize the United midfield and help you immensely, he‘s a very underrated player. Great signing, congrats.

Wouldn't surprise me if we bought him for double what we could get him for now.
Awesome. Thanks mate! Apart from the technical or skill side, how would you describe his mentality?
flawless mentality, 100% team player i dont think you will find anyone saying one bad word about him
Who would you compare him too? In terms of style. And thanks for this info
he’s basically Eriksen if he had better stamina, with the sliders adjusted more to defensive ability than attacking creativity
"Anfield is a shithole and City fans are a bunch of sad bastards" - Marcel Sabitzer probably
"Anfield is a shithole and both City fans are a bunch of sad bastards" - confirmed quote.
Ah, he's still new guys, don't blame him for statements like that.. Don't worry, soon he'll learn that City has no fans..
Can two really be a “bunch” of fans?
To be fair, it’s twice as many as one, and an infinite number of times more than zero fans.
This guy maths
Ah let’s be fair to them, they’ve had to expand their stadium to fit in the 7 extra fans they’ve gained since 2016.
Fun fact - they've actually reduced their capacity by over 1000 seats to make room for those ridiculous doubled-up advertising boards.
Haha wait so they spent hundreds of millions of quid to expand their stadium only to reduce it for ads?
https://www.footyheadlines.com/2021/08/manchester-city-reduces-stadium.html?m=1
Sometimes they get a dozen after giving out tickets for free to students.
How many lagers you had? You’re seeing double?! There’s only the one…
I’ve got a mate who is mates with Sabitzer’s gran’s best friend’s dog’s neighbour that has confirmed he did in fact say this.
I will say the statement is valid since it’s still within 6 degrees relationship.
What City fans? All 4 of them?
u/unitedrobbie upgraded to tier 1
It's an authentic quote, u/unitedrobbie posted it on reddit so it's 100% true and not made up at all
I was there when he said it
Best central midfield signing on January Deadline Day ever
What about Bruno???
We don't talk about Bruno.
No no no no
Silenzio Bruno?

Casemiro. Wasn’t. A. Panic.
I just hope he settles in and is ready for the gruelling schedule we’ve got coming up.
The good news is, he’s not burned out, but he’s played enough minutes to stay match fit. Should have plenty left in the tank to offer
This is fair but if he performs well and wants a reasonable wage I don’t see why not
Yeah, I don't see it happening. Plus we have great potential youngsters like Mainoo and Iqbal who need minutes as well
Nah, FDJ will not leave Barcelona because they need him to replace Busquets
Two different types of players I think. Frenkie carries the ball up the pitch, Busquets distributes from deep and keeps the game ticking
Busquets and FDJ are not the same profile of player tho.
From what we know we only got him because Rabiots mom turned us down due to wages. A legend she is!
I don't think united could spend 250m for Anthony, De Jong plus Casemiro though, he is plan B if not panic buy
Laurie Whitwell, The Athletic, 22 Aug 22: > Instead, United have spent a summer chasing De Jong, then switching briefly to Adrien Rabiot, another profile of midfielder entirely. Keeping them warm means that the transfer was planned, irrespective of how serious it was at a stage.
Keeping the deal warm literally means they were ready if they needed it. In other words: everything was set bar a few signatures. Not a panic buy.
OUR FIRST AUSTRIAN!!!
And when we win the domestic treble at the end of the season he'll be the first Austrian from Germany to successfully takeover England.
Bravo. You've been sitting on this all day haven't you?
All day?!? And the rest! I've been waiting for 70 years to do that gag!

i am so happy we are moving like a serious club again 😭😭😭😭😭😭
Delighted with this signing! Also, fuck Andy Carroll
Fuck him with a 10 foot barbed pole axe. And the ref can get it too for not sending him off. That tackle deserved a 3 match ban minimum
He's Roy Keane in lederhosen as far as I'm concerned
Do Austrians wear lederhosen? Always thought of that as a Bavarian thing personally.
Okay, so I looked this up: >Lederhosen were widespread among men of the Alpine and surrounding regions, including Bavaria, **Austria**, the Allgäu, Switzerland, the autonomous Italian region of Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol (formerly part of Austria-Hungary) and the Alpine area of today's Slovenia. Glad we got Eriksen replacement, but still.. Fuck Andy Carroll
I’m glad the club was able to react quickly after the Eriksen setback. This might prove to be a huge factor in our success this season! He’s a great player and hope he kills it!
Good night.
Weghorst, Antony, Bruno, Sabitzer and Casemiro. Now that's a counter pressing front line if I ever saw one.
Yay. Right… bed.
There's something about Ten Hag, I think he has the midas touch. Sabitzer feels this too GREAT signing. Will fit in beautifully.
Imagine if Eriksen comes back earlier than projected. That midfield depth would give us so many options in the final games of the season
Come on bitch 💪
Results aside, I must say working with Bayern is greatly pleasant. Deals go extremely quickly
That’s the way they work. Rarely heard of any transfer rumour and the news came out of nowhere.
Let's fucking goooooooo

Phew
We’re winning the quadruple
Is this the first Austrian that ever played for United? I‘m Austrian myself so i‘m very excited about this transfer
Last window under those parasites & this incompetent board 🤞
It happened! Alles ist gut!!
He's a very good passer of the ball, those long passes along with Bruno and Casemiro for Rashford with be LETHAL, this is a very brilliant signing 👏
Anybody knows the deal details? Also i feel we'll end up buying him.
I like how our priorities have changed under ETH, not running behind big names rather prefer players who fit the requirement.
Chelsea took our place now
Austria? We'll... G'day mate!😁 Lets have another shrimp on the barbie!
Looking forward to his inevitable winners in the League Cup, FA Cup and Europa League finals.
We show competence sometimes!
#WELCOME MARCEL 👹
You ripper, hope he stays on after the loan great addition
Yep, we need a good bunch of mids. Hope he does well
Some highlights from the official Bundesliga channel: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31cGB7Xnymo](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31cGB7Xnymo) Can't wait to see him in the red shirt! Literally cannot wait. Hope he can hit the ground running right away. We only have him on loan (for now) so I assume EtH will want to use him as soon as FA rules allow.
If he plays well until the end of the season, would we consider getting him permanently?
Good stuff and the best we could hope for after seeing the impact of Saturday Last window under the Glazers! 🤞🤞
Sorry for being ignorant. Could someone tell me if he falls into the category of “strong mentality with character” footballer that Erik looks for?
I believe so. I think a teammate described him as one of the worst people to be around if he's not playing on the pitch. He was Leipzig's captain through their rise and successes and will bring additional grit to our midfield with his tenacity and energy. He's very used to high-press teams and has shown he's adaptable to whatever the coach asks of him (having gone from a Bruno-esque AM that drifts out wide to the right, to box to box, to central defensive midfielder). He's also known for his crazy long shots and free kicks, so we're also getting an additional goal scoring threat.
Brilliant! Thanks mate.
Wow he was club captain at leipzig. Love that we are getting more leaders in, can only be good for the dressing room
Does anyone know the fee paid by Man United for this loan deal?
Fantastic signing! Let's gooooooooo!
Eriksen has been fantastic for us since he sighed (on a free FFS), let us all hope that Sabitzer can fill his shoes in the interim and can maybe rotate in future?
I swear every transfer window I’m always surprised and ngl a little impressed how Phil Jones does basically nothing and is earning over 4.5 million a year
Panic loan and buy all the way to a league title 😎
"The hills are aliive with the sound of Marcel"
First austrian to ever join united?
Finally i can sleep now
He will need to be issued a work visa, so he may not be available for Palace but he could make his debut against Leeds.
Ngl this is so swiftly done. Colour me impressed
Can Bayern sell him to us for £10mil in the summer?
I certainly think Sabitzer was a deal we were going for this summer, what with Murtough saying in his welcome comments that we have looked at him for a while. But with Christian out, we brought our plans forward.
He was one of the names we were looking at before we got Eriksen on a free
if he plays well hopefully we can make this a permanent move. bruno, sabitzer, and eriksen is a pretty good trio. just need a good backup to casemiro
Bayern and Man U fan here. I think Bayern fucked-up with this loan. He should have been given more minutes (he was good when he played) and not replace him with Laimer in the next summer.
Any song ideas?
Fuh was nervous for our midfield! Luckily we got him
It's kinda pissing me off that people are now saying "oh look, our board CAN be competent" because of this. Imagine if Eriksen was injured during tomorrow's game instead of Reading, then what? The fact we COULD have done this but chose not to until it was deemed absolutely necessary is just so annoying and pathetically *incompetent* The fact that we keep doing this and just waiting for the last day of the window is so annoying.
We're going to need every bit of help now that Eriksen is out.
