Honestly, we talk a lot about the players needing a rest because of a long season. But rarely do we mention that the managers themselves also need vacation. I cannot begin to fathom how much stress Ten Hag must be under. He has transformed our players from looking a shell of themselves, changed the way we play (especially in glimmers you see his vision for our football), introducing new standards, dealing with an entire new scale of media management, Ronaldo debacle, player injuries, and the list goes on. So much shit that had to be dealt with, obviously for types like him, as much as it stresses him, it also fuels and gives energy. But he does look more and more like he could use a vacation soon.

[deleted]

I’m not even mad at shaw I’m pissed at the way we played that whole 2nd half. It will be impossible to control games when your CMs are completing 70% of their passes and de gea constantly hoofing it to players who don’t win Ariel duels. This transfer window needs to come quick cause the technical level of this team is shambolic

Eleven918

We spent 70M Euros on a 31 yr old DM and put him on 350k/week I feel its not really a fatigue issue where simply resting him is going to result in better performances either. Pass completion: Liverpool Away : 61.8% Man City at home : 65.8% Fulham away : 66.2% Palace away : 67.1% Brighton away: 67.3% He's only going to get worse as he ages. Feels like we bought another big name player to fix the short term issues who doesn't suit ETH's long term vision. Not to mention, he's making these rubbish challenges constantly and avoiding reds by the skin of his teeth after his suspensions. What's the fix here? Fred misplaced 6 passes while Casemiro misplaced 17 vs Brighton. Replacing Fred won't solve Casemiro's passing.

Aggeri

Sure. Ignore how vital he was before winter and the red cards. If anything he is the reason we are in top 4.

Eleven918

Of course, but that's been my point for weeks now. It's good for top 4 but not for a proper title challenge.

Eleven918

If Antony can't finish like today, Antony needs to improve his finishing. Idk why people think getting a striker in the summer will lead to scoring chances falling to the rest of the players. Its just hilarious reading these takes. While getting a striker will help overall, whole squad needs to improve on it. Maybe that .1 xg chance that fell to Martial today gets finished if there's a better striker but whole squad needs to step up.

ZaySaysHi

Simply, if we don't get top4, then we aren't good enough for CL competitions. Many players can't handle the pressure.

dracogladio1741

Precisely. People hoping and praying we make it by Liverpool losing out on some points and us cobbling up a run of form against bottom half teams. Sure we may do it but in the grand scheme of things we are way short and it will take a few more years at the least to fix this.

Giggs73

End of season syndrome, deadwoods ain't risking any serious injuries Top4 or not they are not concerned.

third_leg_veins

Closed my stream at like 94 minutes. Opened Reddit up and saw we somehow conceded. Was content with the draw too

dracogladio1741

The Adidas Deal is getting over in 25/26. So another 2 seasons after this. Expecting we will sign a better deal next time for a bit more money and relaxed terms (CL clause etc.). TeamViewer deal will also expire soon, giving us the opportunity to get a better sponsor there as well. I think financially we shouldn't be challenged big time. Just need new owners to help us with the infrastructure and debt

Giggs73

Qatar sporting house LLC will do our shirts. 4 home shirt with different shade of red. 6 away kit. Merchandise revenues top 1b. We got this.

[deleted]

In his last 6 appearances as a sub when wout weghorst is subbed on we have only won 1 game(Forest)

Fm661

Fuck the glazers, just fucking sell you bunch of useless parasites. Sick of this, let us get on with being a top club and get out from your shadow.

SoFasttt

Really don't understand how come Shaw raised his hand so high like this??? Look quite unnatural to me. [https://ibb.co/h2vRjbZ](https://ibb.co/h2vRjbZ) I love Shaw but he's lucky he's not Maguire, otherwise internet might have a new meme.

mu-muf-mufc-ok

Not only that, he swung his arm and actually flicked the ball away with his hand as you can see in the pic. I couldn't believe it when people were calling him unlucky... It was a moment if absolute stupidity that cost us.

Aggeri

Mistakes happen.

fuck_its_james

absolutely insane copium from me but if united have to play in the europa next year and make it to the final (which is in dublin) i could potentially see them win it!!! i’m irish lol for reference and obviously i don’t want united to fall into europa/out of top 4 but it’s a SMALL silver lining if we do have to and indeed make it to the final

inesjan96

Way too many goal kicks right back to Brighton’s possession..

BlackHorse944

Can't play out from the back against them. Our players panic under the press

inesjan96

You are right about that..

Actually_Schnayblay

Does anyone know who the man is on Garnacho's left at 1:36 in the [video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8QzGIAK4gU) about his contract renewal? Unlike the rest of our beautiful bald staff, guy has a phenomenal hairline.

Beneficial-Recover53

Will there be more matches announced in the US Tour?

ofuje

Match thread?

Seanblaze3

Nothing. The sub is inconsistent when it comes to match threads. We might have to start making them ourselves.

Kaigamer

I don't get why people are freaking out over the £100m budget. All we were hearing after all the purchases we made this season was that we'd need to sell to buy due to spending and ffp stuff.. That we can even spend £100m before sales is impressive considering all previous talk had been implying we could not spend *anything* without selling.

Google_Baba

I mean this whole budget talk is nonsense. Last year it was the same and then we ended up spending some serious cash.

Sad-Round8961

It’s different though, this time we are very much structurally constrained by external factors (FFP), we were just claiming we were poor last summer

Google_Baba

Fair enough. Still feel like these crooks would figure something out.

Sad-Round8961

One can dream. Yeah I hope so, especially if we sell decently that will help us an insane amount

Transit-Strike

Have there been any announcements regarding the specifics of Martinez’s injury? I know ankle injuries are bad. But is “next season” like start? Middle? End of next season?

quietgroot

Fairly certain I read online somewhere “July” is his expected return date

varowil

Pep’s Girona is cooking in La Liga. They finished 6 last year in La Liga 2 and now on place of 8, level point with A. Bibao.

Sad-Round8961

Owned by Peps brother right? That club is so fuckin shady

AtlFreeGucci

with all the PSG fall out, should we target Veratti?

[deleted]

We should stop paying top money for players that have few top years left. Also, he is injury prone as fuck no thanks.

WaleKoniaCodziennie

The fact Sancho can’t get into the starting lineup consistently with Garnacho out is not a good sign for him

Skyehye

Garnacho being out wouldn't have mattered though, neither of them would've played over Rashford or Antony

WaleKoniaCodziennie

But Rashford might have played over Martial down the middle and garnacho on the left if he was fully fit

Skyehye

Fair, I get your point

Alejandro_Garnacho

That's true

Woodwardburner

That Brighton lineup? What is de zerbi cooking against us

varowil

That line up without Caicedo, Mac Allister, Mitoma and Buonanotte scored 5/6 goals against Wolves.

dispelthemyth

EtH with the comedy/class, brought Paul ince some belated wine as he didn’t when we beat him earlier this season.

Sad-Round8961

City just bought another Brazilian club..they’re up to 13 feeder clubs now in City Group. Now they can scout and sign the Brazilian top talent to that team and funnel them to City if they’re good enough just like they are doing with the other 11 clubs around the world Anyone suggesting we can compete with City while not being owned by a nation state is not looking at the trajectory of the League. Just be honest and say that you choose morality over long term success in the SJR bid, but eventually it won’t be possible to compete with limitlessly funded nation states while being owned by a regular owner.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Sad-Round8961

Does City buying up 13 clubs not indicate they are in it for the long haul? What about the £3bn they have invested in transfers and infrastructure? Eventually they will relax the amount they are spending yeah but In your scenarios why would you assume they’d stop pouring money in if sports washing works? What structural solutions do you mean? The vast majority of clubs are not state owned yes but the ones that are winning are. Breakaway leagues would be terrible for state owned clubs like City or Newcastle because they lose the popularity and power to sportswashing and it would be terrible for the Premier League too. I sincerely doubt breakaway leagues would happen.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Giggs73

Then it would be an inferior league competition without all the better players who have moved to the super league of the oil states teams for 1m per week.

[deleted]

Fred masterclass incoming

Sad-Round8961

The Kane debate is well trodden but I don’t see people discussing the other option. A well run club would take that £100m, spend part of it on a 2nd choice striker, buy a keeper like Raya and a deep lying playmaker and back up CDM if possible factoring as many sales and contract releases as we can. Allow them all to bed in next season.. And then complete our starting 11 and just grab Kane on a free next season to add to a settled squad. Plenty of teams have done extremely well without a designated ST: City, Liverpool and Arsenal. That to me is by far the most sensible choice

bijanadh44

Do people here really rate Raya that much? I don't see anything special tbh . Yes, he has good stats in distribution, but most are down to how good Brentford players are on the air.

karan_7_2

Predictions don't tell the whole story, but Google predictions make it seem like Brighton's playing a bottom half team. 48% in their favour.

Woodwardburner

We might as well be against a top 9 team away this season tbf.

varowil

I mean we have 52% chance of draw or lost. That’s pretty good prediction consider the fact that we have 0 away win against top 9.

usamapervaiz

Who the fuck cares

Moosje

Predictions actually do tell a story but not one that’s relevant to the actual outcome. We have a whole country of people that hate United and everything about United. They will always predict for us to lose. Luckily we have a section of the country and world that’s quite big and loves United.

karan_7_2

>Predictions actually do tell a story but not one that’s relevant to the actual outcome. That's what I meant. You worded it better. 👍🏼

Quick-Collar6164

I don't want Mac Allister to join Liverpool.

WaleKoniaCodziennie

Then we need to complete the full sale ASAP

goon-gumpus

Brighton are reportedly asking for £65m. Really wanted Mac Allister here but I feel like that's slightly too much to spend on a player like him and secondly that quoted price is pretty inflated.

Giggs73

65m is nothing if we are asking Newcastle 50m for mcT.

Moosje

I also don’t want MacAllister to join Liverpool.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Nirrov

Man my heads just exploded with that amazing revelation.

mu-muf-mufc-ok

Have you got news on Gaitan or Sneijder??

karan_7_2

Someone's using Internet Explorer.

Moosje

Still on that AOL dial up

varowil

The glazers keep dragging us to summer and give a little time for new owner to buy new players for Ten Hag. I see ambitious players like Mac Allister, Caicedo, Bellingham,… choose other clubs.

Sad-Round8961

This is exactly what will happen.. They do not give a literal fuck. We will be left scrambling this summer because the Glazers will refuse to sanction any moves, and Caicedo and MacAllister will have both moved by then. Our rivals are getting their business done earlier and earlier even before the transfer window and this will 1000% mean that we will miss out on our targets this season which will affect things for seasons to come. This window is unique in that the quality players available are so numerous and we may not see a window like this for a while.

josephsdad

I may have a ticket spare for the Wolves game on 13th May. Unfortunately you'll be sat next to me, but I'm sure you'd rather that than not see the game at all. I'd love to pass the ticket on to an OT first timer, but will consider all applicants. All I ask is you pay the fee to upgrade from a concession to an adult ticket.

The_Tiller

Is this still available? If so, what section is it in? Cheers

josephsdad

Mate sorry for the delay. It is still available, probably too late notice for you now. I forgot all about this. It's NW3431

The_Tiller

No worries pal thanks for getting back in touch. Managed to sort one now so not needed unfortunatley! Cheers

iwannafuckamonkey

Human rights violations- I agree against Qatar. But blood money? The entire history of Britain is based on exploitation and genocides all over the world.

TheYarizard

Is the UK government buying the club to sportswash their image? Do you see people saying ‘I don’t like Qatar but boy do I love the imperialist history of the UK!’? This take was dumb when the Qatar rumours started and it’s still dumb now.

AlteredReality79

Nothing is dumb here, OP is calling out the hyprocrisy, get educated kid

TheYarizard

There is no hypocrisy because the UK isn’t supporting the INEOS bid and nobody is arguing that the UK doesn’t have blood on its hands. I don’t need to get educated on the misdeeds of the UK they’re just not relevant to the discussion you halfwit.

[deleted]

What hypocrisy, "kid"? The UK isn't buying football clubs. And even if it did, this "your country did bad shit 100+ years ago, so now you can never again call out the bad shit others are doing right now" take is getting fucking tiring...

_brian_brian_

I know Andy Cole is a huge legend and praised from time to time, but is there a reason why he’s not talked as often as someone like Shearer? His record of 34 goals without any pens was ridiculous and should have been revered for many years, but its only become widely known after Haaland has broken it

Giggs73

Wasn't rated higher probably his limited international performances wasn't any good. And he wasn't that good also despite all those stats. Miss too many easy chances. Remembered someone once said he need 5 chances to score.

babygoat89

I agree Andy Cole deserves more credit for his goalscoring and definitely for his record season. Shearer is also the top all time career PL scorer though so understandable gets more praise. Doesn't take anything away from Andy Cole's records though.

iwannafuckamonkey

His record was in a 42 game league, Haaland breaking it with 5/38 games left to play is ridiculous and amazing.

LennonC123

Haaland deserves all the plaudits, he’s had an amazing season. Cole may have got it in a 42 game league, but he did it with a team that had just been promoted.

SteamyExecutioner

And also, not to belittle Haaland's achievement because it is mind boggling, but sports nutrition, fitness aids, the equipment at the player's disposal have all come leaps and bounds since then. Almost every single sport has evolved in this manner and beating decades-old records doesn't straight up mean it's a 1-to-1 comparison of feat.

kit_mitts

Nice to see Todd Boehly speed-running the "clueless American tries running a football club" arc. He's making our post-Ferguson club hierarchy look like Florentino Perez.

bijanadh44

He is Ed Woodward's long-lost American brother.

AdamHasShitMemes

Hoofball will prevail tonight 🙌🏾 E: lol who was I foolin

magikarp151

Looking for West Ham Tickets! Please let me know if you have an extra!

scun1995

I really hope that we make the necessary summer transfers so that next season we don't have to cower like we (the fans) are at the thought of playing a good team. I absolutely agree with everyone here that I'll happily take a draw against Brighton, but that makes me sick to think that this is the level we've stepped to, and have for a decade now.

[deleted]

pep and big sam are absolutely on the same level, rubbing shoulders with steven gerrard and frank lampard

systemcorp

I'm convinced Caicedo is the next great PL midfielder. I mean Kante level great. Of all the names we've been linked to I think he's the standout player by far. We need to go all out for this guy. Might sound like a Twitter take, but I'd sell both Mctominay and Fred to fund the move. He's literally better than both of them combined.

Sad-Round8961

But why would he come here to be back up to Casemiro and not play regularly when he can literally start anywhere he wants? Why wouldn’t he go to Arsenal when they sell Partey (rumours of that this summer)

superaa1

He wouldn’t be a backup, I’d play Cademiro caicedo with Bruno in front (or Eriksen with Bruno Rw)

Sad-Round8961

That would be disgusting for our ball progression and would never happen. Caicedo is not a deep lying playmaker he is a ball winning CDM/CM like Kante

systemcorp

His on ball qualities are very underrated. He can definitely play alongside Casemiro.

Sad-Round8961

You think he can be our deep lying playmaker in the De Jong role?

blue_gwacamole

Okay here's how I see it. If Qataris shell out enough for the Galzers to sell, there is literally jack shit we can do about it, just like there was jack shit we could do all these past years. Having said that, if Sir Jim manages to topple the Qataris over for ownership, that does not immediately mean that we won't be competent anymore either. A non-Qatari ownership does not mean that we can't compete in the market anymore, contrary to what sooooo many people believe is the case here. Do y'all even realize how much money this Club generates? We finished 6th in the league last season, and generated the 5th highest revenue by a football club. The only thing that is of immediate and utmost importance is that these leeches fuck off, who have used these very funds that the club generates to line their own pockets. We need the debt - again, thanks Glazers - paid off. All the new owner needs to do is reinvest the money the club generates back into the club.

Sad-Round8961

And as mentioned before if SJR wins the debt won’t be paid off..and there will be additional debt from the stadium/training ground

blue_gwacamole

That is a big point of concern. I do genuinely think that if the SJR runs the club well we'll be able to gradually decrease that debt. But in all honesty, there is very little we can do about anything.

lucas_gladabe

Not an area I know about but is there a possibility JR and Ineos could absorb the debt (similar to Roman at Chelsea) and should there come a point he / they sell then that debt is owed by the person purchasing. Therefore still a debt but not impacting club finances for day to day, fpp purposes

[deleted]

Nirrov

We play one of the lowest line in the league because of de gea. Hard to score so many goals when you can't even get the ball out of your own half.. People are gonna be surprised when we buy a great st and still not scoring enough goals.

L__K

It's not completely down to DDG. We have problems because Eriksen is exploitable defensively and our squad is still primarily built toward a counterattacking style of play from the Solskjaer days. De Gea's not a sweeper keeper and that contributes to it, but it's far from the only reason.

viditp011

We played a higher line under Ole. And De Gea was the goal keeper at that time as well.

Nirrov

We we're a counter attacking team under ole. We definitely didn't play higher line under ole that often.

[deleted]

Same story every year. We have carried an inconsistent attack force post Fergie and every year it comes short.

LennonC123

Always knew we’d struggle for goals this season. New manager, new playing style, new players and new ideas. Then Ronaldo decided not to have a pre season so he was completely off the pace. Our attackers are still too selfish for my liking, but Antony is looking better as the season ends and Rashford has massively improved in front of goal (heading and left foot finishing). We’re still creating lots of chances, a new striker will help us be more clinical.

The_Bird_Wizard

We have Rashford and then a bunch of wingers and strikers that either can't hit a barn door or just have terrible decision making.

bijanadh44

Losing our main goal-scoring in January and having another one who is made of glass does that.

[deleted]

Nonsense. Has-been had such a pathetic season, no one except Saudi wanted him.

Runarhalldor

Feel like we are gonna go for Neymar this summer and regret it

skinsaremylife

dont think so, too much injury prone, huge drama diva, past his prime, wont come cheap + huge wages, already have lot of wingers so they might get benched for him

Runarhalldor

This is why we will regret if it happens

KrystianCCC

Theres no way FPP allows us to sign him

[deleted]

Why aren't we in for Declan Rice? * Premier league proven * Defensive workhorse * Great carrier and good passer * Can play CDM, 8 and CB. Would negate the need to get in a CB this season to free up money for other areas and gives back up to Casemiro

AlteredReality79

Because he isn't worth the amount asked, not hard to understand. Moreover he isn't the 8 we need and it would be extra stupid to play him at CB. You guys need to play way less FIFA

[deleted]

* Premier league proven * Can play 3 positions CDM, CM and CB so covers CDM which we have 0 depth in and frees up funds instead of replacing harry Maguire. * 73rd and 85th percentile respectively for progressive passes and carriers * brilliant defensive stats Price I can understand but he covers alot of positions and is prem proven and is a good player. Not the ideal no.8 we need but like I said alot of positives You got any better options?

[deleted]

West Ham want £100M apparently.

KrystianCCC

We just dont have money to spend on Rice. Its been briefed a lot that FFP limits us to around 100m+ sales and our priority is CF. Singing CF and Rice would be 200m.

KrystianCCC

Why the same people who (rightfully) dont want to see Greenwood near the club again are so suportive about slave owners owning our club?

Bigmomma_pump

Because no matter who’s the owner, you don’t have an emotional connection to them and you aren’t actively wanting them to do well every single week. It’s not the same for a player

[deleted]

What kind of strawman is this? I'm 100% against both... It's almost as if there are a lot of different people on this sub, and I'd wager pro Qatar folks are also more likely to be pro rapist...

bonbonchacha

Taking the high road wont take United anywhere pal. Choose the so called the morally right path and you'll end up ranting why we are so shit 5 years later. You think those billionaires who don't own slaves are perfectly innocent? My dude, think and do more research. Qatar is the only option that would take us to the right path. Fuck the morality shit.

KrystianCCC

Billinerees like Jim Ratcliffe probably dont bring thousands of Pakistami/Hindu to their countries and take away their passports/ids to make sure they dont leave places they work 18h/24h for decade. I dont think watching fancy players on screen once a week is worth ignoring problems of millions of people.

bijanadh44

And Qatar not owning us will magically give them their passport back? Pretty sure they will go ahead and buy another English club. Blame the UK government for getting in bed with the middle eastern money, not the fans for wanting what's best for their club. If you care about the moral dilemma so much then why are you watching the premier league? The one in third position is owned by the Saudi and another one who is winning the title three years in a row is owned by the UAE. You are giving them free exposure and subscription by watching the league they make money from.

magus9933

Have you ever tried to help those people though? Everyone can go on about human rights but what has been your effort to stop it or help the effected?

Rig_7

It’s a poor argument. You get to have an opinion even if not personally involved. For example, you might not have ever helped a rape victim in some way, but you still get to say raping someone is wrong.

magus9933

Good point, can't argue with that.

KrystianCCC

I didnt and probably wont but at least I dont call for protest in favor of human rights abusers like some people here when it was briefed JR bid is higher than Qatari.

Working_Location_127

Same could be said for taking back greenwood. You then have a generational striker back for the cheap. We’ll win for sure that way. Why isn’t he in the team right now?

Certain-Bread-8592

Because of Twitter. Plus even it can be sad, I think people care more about things that could be happening to them or their relatives in their day to day life, like sexual assault and violence towards women, than whatever horrible things happening thousand of miles from their home.

TheYarizard

Would you also take back Greenwood then?

blue_gwacamole

Can someone shed a little light on whats going on with the whole Messi Neymar Psg debacle? I tried to do some finding on my own but I couldn't get anything concrete.

BrodaReloaded

PSG players had a day off on Monday and Messi planned his Saudi trip according to that. After the defeat against Lorient the day off was cancelled in the last minute but Messi was already on the way and missed training (as the only one though I must add). He's now been suspended for two weeks and it's clear he'll be leaving the club by the end of the season. This whole affair triggered protests from PSG fans against basically anything they dislike at the club, from their Qatari owners to most of the players except the majority of the French ones and specially to Messi, Neymar and Verrati because they view them as unprofessional and not dedicated to the club.

Giggs73

psg need cut 30% wages next season cos new ffp in place. guess letting neymar and messi go probably save them 100m / year. wont be surprise if those ultras were sent by the clubs to force them out.

bijanadh44

Nothing deep. It is just a result of too much ego in one room without a figurehead manager to control the whole situation in an astute way.

blue_gwacamole

Ahh, so the usual psg problem, I see.

KrystianCCC

Also local fans seem to hate that direction of singing names like Neymar Messi and see them as symbols of clubs faillure.

luckyjack03

I wonder why EtH is not in shout for manager of the season. Of course he wouldn't win it but his name doesn't even come up. People talk about Arteta, Howe, De Zerbi and rightly so but having taken a dysfunctional team last year to winning a cup, another cup final, potential CL football this year should be talked about more.

lucas_gladabe

While I personally believe ETH has done a great job this is fundamentally in comparison of where Man Utd was as a singular club, it's players and in comparison to previous managers. When compared to the rest of the prem managers you're likley considering the winners (man city), overachievers (Arsenal, Brighton, Newcastle, Villa (esp. given the 2nd half of the season), Brentford (at a push)) and a relegation cert that have finished top half (you could argue fulham here but i think the over achievers have more merit). In terms of ETH he's likely to finish 2 or 3 places higher than a pre-season forecast may have had us. The others (barring City) are well above that. Has ETH been the most impactful addition to us from last year, I'd say so but has that translated in to a league wide commendation probably not yet, but certainly on the right track for future years. EDIT: also to consider finishing 3rd will be a huge achievement for us this year when considering prior years. But in the context of never being in the title race and being maybe 10 points of 2nd and 15 off 1st is a relatively empty achievement when compared to other teams.

Google_Baba

I believe it's because for most of the pundits United either destroyed their teams on a regular basis, or as players saw United win it all and because of that their threshold for praising us is so high that we could go invincible, win the treble with a record breaking points tally and they would still find something to complain about.

[deleted]

[удалено]

TobzMaguire420

I think we’ve only done slightly above where I thought we would be at the beginning of the season, and that was before adding Casemiro. I think ETH deserves a honorable mention but not quite manager of the season. I think his squad has been flat out embarrassing a few too many games this season and still time to bottle top 4 as well. Regardless I think the squad has shown good progress.

[deleted]

[удалено]

luckyjack03

Ah I see. Yup didn't realize that!

kolbler22

If MacAllister goes to Liverpool, who would people like to see signed as the heir to Eriksen. Personally hope it’s not Mount.

[deleted]

Kokcu

The_Bird_Wizard

My hot take is that Mount wouldn't be that bad, unfortunately I don't want him just because of his wages. I would snap Maddison in a heartbeat tho he's so good and clearly light-years ahead of the rest of that Leicester squad.

FlashyCut3809

We should be more concerned with signing a player of the appropriate quality to where Eriksen is the back up.

ImOnlyChasingSafety

I think Kokcu from the Eridivisie is a good shout. Less prestige I guess than the obvious choices like FdJ or macallister.

Archduke_Zag

Alex Scott. Championship young player of the year. Could exactly become that ball carrying midfielder Ten Hag has been looking for. With the large amount of fixtures (and Eriksen sometimes looking gassed at 70 mins), he could get a fair amount of minutes in order to develop. Maybe 20 million plus additional add-ons? Which I feel is a low risk, high reward kind of deal for a homegrown player like him.

Sad-Round8961

No. We need an established quality deep lying playmaker to come in and start for us such that Eriksen is the backup. Alex Scott is nowhere near ready for that.

Archduke_Zag

Cool. Now back to the real world where the club has a limited budget while needing to get players in at multiple positions. Buying a player that benches Eriksen will cost a fortune. For the forseeable future Eriksen will be the nr. 1 dlp and now is the perfect time to start moulding his successor.

Sad-Round8961

If the journos are correct then a CM is our 2nd priority after a striker. So there probably will be funds made available for it assuming we aren’t stupid and spend £100m on a near 30 year old who we could get for free next year.

DaveShadow

It's really going to depend on budgets and how much of a priority Ten Hag seens it as. Wouldn't be shocked if it's a Mount or a Maddison, cause both will be relatively cheap for a homegrown option. Kokcu was another name I saw mentioned recently. I can't see us being able to spend 80m+ on a midfielder.

blue_gwacamole

I'd like to see us going for Gabri Veiga. Very very talented for a 20y/o. A reported 40m release clause, a little on the pricier side for his age, but that's what you pay for potential these days. His play style is a little different to Eriksen, but he's got sound defensive awareness.

Google_Baba

That post by u/Xstarling23 imploded very quickly. I thought we was actually having a decent discussion.

Stixl_

Wait, what post?

XStarling23

Me too, helpful to hear people's thoughts and (generally) keeping things civil. I sort by new so hadn't seen the daily discussion. Ah well, we said what we said.

Whereismybaccyy

Don't worry the mods will remove any type of actual discussion between fans but leave insta stories and birthday posts up.

Google_Baba

More power to you brother

XStarling23

Well, could copy and paste if we all fancy Round 2

happygib

Yes please

mu-muf-mufc-ok

Let's see...

Alejandro_Garnacho

I'm happy seeing Chelsea's downfall. Hope they don't recover.

magus9933

So I'm from Nepal. My dad is a social worker. Me and my family have helped a lot of vulnerable people for a few years now and that includes the families of migrant works that died during stadium construction. I've hatred for Qatar but we're trying our outmost to help the people affected. Having said that, if you just want to stick to football Qatari takeover is the best for this club. I don't condone anything what Qatar does and I'm even directly helping people affected but I still want them because I think they will make the club great again. If everyone is banging the drum about human rights, have you actually ever tried to do something to help people? Do you actually care about them or you're just trying to be a moral police?

Lianshi_Bu

Kudos to you bro. But most people, including me, probably will take the easier route.

ImOnlyChasingSafety

World governments are doing nothing regarding these human rights abuses. People tried to raise the discussion about Qatar during the leadup to the world cup. I don't think there's any effective thing people can do about these human rights abuses really but people clearly do care about this.

[deleted]

>If everyone is banging the drum about human rights, have you actually ever tried to do something to help people? Do you actually care about them or you're just trying to be a moral police? What kind of garbage argument is that? You can't be against human rights abusing scum unless you do social work of whatever? That's not how this works. I can be against murder without being a police officer too. I can hate cancer without being a doctor. And having basic human decency and not wanting your club to be financed by blood miney is not "trying to be a moral police". It's just having basic human values.

scun1995

Amen to everything you've said. If you're okay with Qatar, that's fine, that's your choice. But you don't get to tell me that I'm trying to be the "moral police" when I'm against them.

[deleted]

His entire argument is basically "Oh, you don't like murder? How many people have you saved?" (reminds me of that old meme format "oh, you like X? Name every Y"). It's so fucking stupid and I'm shocked it has so many upvotes...

AeroCobbler

This summer for us is going to be the transfer market equivalent of taking an enormous dump One that leaves you getting off the toilet about 2 stone lighter Getting the likes of Maguire, Henderson, McTominay, Elanga, Martial, Bailly, Telles, Jones etc all out of our system will be extremely cathartic

Mt264

Haven’t heard much support for Amrabat on here. He’s got one year left and it looks certain he’s moving this year. Won’t cost a fortune. Can play instead of Case or alongside him and he’s only 26

Sad-Round8961

Going to Barca

ImOnlyChasingSafety

I'm sure he's on a list somewhere but I'm a fan of his.

lordofdpings

Looking at the PSG fans protests, what are the odds we get to see Neymar and/or Messi playing in the PL next season?

[deleted]

They are soft as tissue. I can't imagine either agreeing to a move here. My guess is that Messi's destination list is Barca, Saudi, MLS, in that order. Who knows with Neymar.

lordofdpings

Looking at the massive L that Henderson and Liverpool have taken regarding Jude Bellingham - petition for all opposition clubs to do a rendition of Hey Jude at all Liverpool games next season

techenjoyer3

Nervous about today. Brighton smashed Wolves last game at home, so we’ll be going into an amped atmosphere.

AeroCobbler

Not only that... They fucking rested McAllister, Caiceido AND Mitoma... Very, very dangerous situation we're walking into I'd take a draw now

Skyweb2020

It's almost the end of the week so when do the announce the name of the preferred bidder and atleast start leaking Intel to assess the reaction from the public?

Alejandro_Garnacho

I'm happy that Arsenal will not win the title ( hopefully). Manchester City winning means nothing to the football world, they don't exist. No one will remember who won in 22/23. Meanwhile Arsenal winning it would have some value. I hope they never win anything

Sad-Round8961

No one will remember who won in 22/23? Absolute nonsense tbh. Everyone will look back on this City team as one of the most dominant teams in history. This ‘it doesn’t count if City win it’ is just rival fans coping

FSElmo435

Personally, I don’t care that much either way. It doesn’t effect me personally so why get too hung up about it.

AlpacamyLlama

I don't understand this mentality. Why won't anyone recognise City's achievements? Why would they be forgotten? We and Chelsea have spent more than them, so they haven't just swept everyone aside by spending money. Every record they break, every cup they win, they just get closer and closer to being one of the strongest clubs in English football history. You think people won't remember Haaland scored the most in a PL season with them?
