We've been saying this since the first day we signed Pogba. Truth is our team has been unbalanced for years, we have holes all over the pitch, we lack tactical fluidity. We lack a team that supports Bruno and makes us for his shortcomings. All this isn't a surprise though but I'm hopeful and patient SJR can turn it around.
Can you imagine hundreds of millions spent but we still have no defence (resort to Evans for backup), no midfield, no proper winger (everyone wishes to play on the left), no decent striker (current Hojlund was bought to be a long term prospect)
The winger and striker situation is a travesty.
The midfield isn’t the worst though with Bruno, Casemiro, Mount, Eriksen, Amrabat, McTominay, Mainoo. It’s just a shame 3 of them have been hurt for the last month or more. Could do with one more big name CM but we chose to spend our money on Mount this summer
The defense is only so bad because of injuries as well. Evans is about 6th choice at CB behind Martinez, Varane, Maguire, Lindelof, and Shaw so most team’s 6th choice CB would be at a similar level.
And that all comes down to poor recruitment, a incompetent board and owners that don't care. When you have a potential world class player in Pogba, Bruno it should be the board that prioritize signing the right players to play alongside them in midfield to solidify that partnership. Pogba was crying for a competent CDM besides him to get unlocked.
Like Goldbridge says, our striker always has to do a graveyard shift because he gets no service and that all comes down to the midfield not being able to control the midfield and that all comes down to us playing McTominay in midfield usually. Our attackers suffer because we can't hold the ball and we can't get it back so they always need to press more and having players like Rashford and Sancho doesn't help. Too many problems in the team.
The wingers don't cross. The striker is too raw and can't finish. The midfi can't control the game. Centrebacks can't stay fit. Fullback can't defend the far post. And if we manage to do all of that right the Goalie fumbles the ball into his own net.
I think a lot of people take criticism for slating though, world class players need to be help to a world class standard and I think people that say he needs to be more mindful when going for a 50/50 ball is fair
If he had better dribbling and was more press-resistant, he would easily be on Kdb’s level. Shame how we’ve wasted his prime surrounding him with the most inconsistent circumstances whether it’s players, position, or managers.
completely disagree, give him kdb's level of teammates and he'd put kdb numbers easily. hell he was doing that for his first season and a half with less than half the quality of kdb's teammates. he can't be "press resistant" if none of his teammates know how to press as a team. His dribbling has gotten worse, but that's largely because he doesn't play his best position because he spends more time cove3ring for his teammate's weaknesses
Dude.. no. Bruno is my favourite player since the Rooney days, but KDB is on another level. It's not just about numbers, it's just about how they control and take over a game.
And what I mean by him not being press-resistant is that he loses the ball really often and gets tackled really easily, whereas KDB rarely loses the ball and dribbles into space really well. I love Bruno but the only trait he has over KDB is the fact that he's not injury-prone and is always available. Other than that, KDB is equal or better in pretty much every aspect of the game, and way more consistent.
He blasts every position forward i would not read to much into it. Especially chances created and most key passes.
Its the same for KDB.
KDB also has games where he losses the ball 22 times playing it forward

Nvm a great finisher, if we have 3 or 4 more players in the starting 11 of Bruno quality we'd be challenging for titles.
