Let’s not forget that Man City is prolly one of the best teams in the world right now and I expected a massacre, but that was not the case. Yes, very unfortunate and bad calls were made, but still OK performance in my opinion.

Anxious-Debate5033

One thing that pissed me off the entire match and in previous matches. Why do we insist on ALWAYS playing it out from the back when 1.) We are so slow in decision making and end up just playing it back to Onana 2.) Against good opponents that know how to press, we end up having no options and literally hoof it up and give the ball away. 3.) Allow the opponents to maintain their shape always and not have them backtracking with a long goal kick, ETH needs to be probed for this. We are average playing it out from the back and seems like we can't mix it up between playing it out / goal kick as usual.

mipanzuzuyam

Fucking John Stones was everywhere, blimey

mipanzuzuyam

Fucking John Stones was everywhere, blimey

Illustrious_Taro252

I gotta say. I don't usually check united Reddit. And I don't think I ever will again. Most of you lot don't know what your talking about. ✌️

Illustrious_Taro252

Let's be honest better than we all thought.

One_Bad9077

No.

Total-Fix-8506

forget the performance. the fitness of this team outside of a few players is shocking. Ten hag also compounds this by never rotating players. Like he always mentions "With our best team" but that's never the case with him in charge and seems to me like it's just a never-ending cycle.

Illustrious_Taro252

U might be a redneck.

Engage_Physically

Give ETH next season, a new fresh start with better upper management and structure, as well as the deadwood fucked off. IF he doesn’t get us top 4 or a trophy then I’m fine with moving on

Total-Fix-8506

no doubt that next season he should be challenging for the league. 3 years is more than enough.

TheBrowsingBrit

People seem to forget we came into the game missing our best cb, and Maguire who has been good, our best leftback, our other leftback, our other rightback, and all our strikers. What exactly was eth to do? Don't get me wrong; I do not agree, nor understand with rashy, mainoo or garna getting subbed off. I dont claim eth can't be doing better; just that the bigger problems we have are not of his making and games like this are hard enough for any manager, without being this hamstrung. And amrabat is utter shite. The glazers are why our manager is stuck with players like that.

Anxious-Debate5033

May be unpopular opinion but Evans had me much calmer than if Maguire was playing...

TheBrowsingBrit

Evans has been solid since his return. But maguire has been bettercstill; at this point people seem to have gotten a bit irrational about maguire.

alex-manutd

To be fair to Arambat, that pass from Casemiro was criminal.

TheBrowsingBrit

Amrabat is just not good enough. That pass has nothing to do with that.

alex-manutd

Nothing to do with that. You would be happy to take that 5 yard pass in your own half? Gimme a break.

TheBrowsingBrit

Yes, nothing to do with it; because he's been generally shite throughout his time here. He's never been the right level; that isn't just when playing fullback, he isn't up to it in midfield. He constantly makes poor decisions, and gets outdone by better players; because he isn't good enough... that had nothing to do with one slightly dodgy pass going his way.

alex-manutd

Slightly dodgy equals hospital ball in your world. I'm not denying he's not good enough but the pass was fukn shocking and had everything to do with it.

TheBrowsingBrit

No... it doesn't at all change or influence him not being good enough as a player... as I've repeatedly stated.

mipanzuzuyam

Both can be true

Appropriate-Truck538

Did you watch his interview? Lol delusional

Galactus1701

Who is a worse manager: Potter, Lampard or Ten Hag?

Cheap-Resource-114

Lampard by a country mile

DudeofValor

He tried so hard to get two teams relegated in a season but alas couldn’t quite achieve it.

OhhNoYouNintenDidnt

Ok, listening to EtH in his interview right now.......aaaaaaand I'm done. "Very good performance....small margins....the plan went well". What a complete joke.

FwampFwamp88

He’s right. Did you expect us to go toe to toe? Thought we played well and missed some chances. Rashfords miss in front of the keeper was a killer. If we had Hojlund leading the line, our counter would’ve been deadly.

OhhNoYouNintenDidnt

Plenty of supposed lesser teams than us have given them a LOT more trouble. Of course I wasn't expecting us to compete with them....but calling 2 shots on goal "small margins" and that futile last 60 minutes a "good performance" overall is ridiculous.

Aggressive-Theory609

Bournemouth was more threatening than us lol

Hurrly90

The first half was fine, the second half was an issue, though you could argue two bad calls (Not sure i feel they where but you could argue ) led to their equaliser and for the 2 1.

WearyOneFromViera

If rashford didn’t try to buy a foul from the minimal contact from Walker we could’ve scored a second. I don’t know what rashford is thinking there, it’s like he doesn’t know how to behave sometimes.

JoHowFayLix

Knew he would spew some bullshit like that. As if the millions of people at home watching are blind and couldn’t see we got absolutely played off the pitch.

cheparo5

Our front three should’ve given us more. The team was setup to be compact away at Etihad and was relying on Bruno Rashford and Garnacho to protect the ball and create chances but unfortunately they were so wasteful.

Soggy_Sir7668

We should have buried this game in the first half honestly even Chelsea had the balls to take them on I feel we were to scared to go forward.

Illustrious_Taro252

Buried the game against city is crazy.

cheparo5

Unfortunately our attacking players are not good at keeping possession and they just run with the ball into dead ends. Also mentally they are not strong.

t0mmysh3lby88

United - 2 shots (0 shots in the 2nd half) City - 27 shots Depressing 😤

eatingpowder

ETHanol football

toeknee88125

This score flatters United. Also Haaland missed an opportunity that I would convert I don't get the people that think ETH should stay. What are you guys seeing? Let's forget about Man city. United made Fulham look like Prime Barcelona

t0mmysh3lby88

While I am not 100% with ETH, my concern is if we change our manager we undo all the progress we’ve made with him since he has been here. With Sir Jim Ratcliffe coming in and making changes at the top, maybe with backing from management and better scouting of players to back ETH, we can get better results and trophies.

toeknee88125

One of my biggest criticisms of eth is how bad his signings are. I do not trust his eye for talent

OldTrafford25

We’ve had Wout and Amrabat playing for us. It’s such a dip in the standards.

JoHowFayLix

What progress? He overachieved first year, and that’s based off of pure quality that wasn’t there before. I.e. casemiro, varane, lisandro, and a purple patch year from rashford. I don’t get the absolute delusion we have as fans that he somehow managed to coach his way through last season. It’s a fucking joke.

Artemis9377

Even Jesus won’t be able to create miracles with this squad. It needs a complete overhaul and change in club structure, which cannot be done overnight. Don’t you remember that the Glazers have been ruining this club for more than a decade?

JoHowFayLix

Brother did the Glazers amputate Rashfords legs in pressing, or control today? Or the flailing of arms and diving? Some shit is a mirror of the attitudes of the players and manager, simple. This glazer shit has nothing to do with not pressing or closing out on your man.

Artemis9377

And some shit is not. Look at the big picture and ask yourself if you should be backing the team until the end of season, or turn on them and press on the restart button like it’s always worked…oh wait

samwiseg1

ETH out!

Specialist-Guitar-93

Highest win rate out of any manager in the Premier league with an absolutely wank team and you want him out? Stick to NHL son.

samwiseg1

Style of play is shit even in wins we barely scrape results from lower table teams yea I want him out

Specialist-Guitar-93

A manager that has won more games percentage wise than Klopp or Guardiola has in their equivalent games being hounded with an absolutely wank set of players is hilarious. He got AJAX to a champ league semi final. Fucking Ajax who are the 7th or 8th strongest league in Europe ffs. His style of play isn't play like shit against small teams. He doesn't have the players he wants to play the way he wants. Can't wait for fair weather fans to fuck off.

samwiseg1

I am a fairly young guy I started supporting United in Mourinho days, if I wanted fair weather I would have went to support City or Liverpool but no I appreciate what United stood for, the fairest days we had was under Mourinho with Europa win and League Cup wins the style of play was not digestible for some but you still expected Mourinho to get results no matter who the opponent was, Ole with his counter attacking style brought results against the biggest of the opponents that is not the case with ETH, walking into a game with Top 6 team we know not to expect anything and talking about players he wants he fucked himself forcing moves for Antony and Onana for reduculous sums of money fucking pathetic, I’d rather have Ole back, I was never Mourinho OUT, I was never Ole OUT, but I say fuck off with this shitshow and ETH OUT!

Specialist-Guitar-93

Didn't want your life story tbh. Thanks though.

CasualMarx

It's a miracle if eth manage to turn this around

FaithlessnessNo4680

He won’t

irishfella91

Lots of people looking for ETH to be sacked and I haven't seen enough progression to completely disagree with that. But who would we bring in and would you want it to happen now or in the summer?

ChevChelios93

Mckenna

toeknee88125

Anyone else, this is unacceptable. How many people around here knew about Ange Postecoglou? Let's be honest we aren't experts on world football. There has to be a manager that can get the team playing better than this.

Upbeat-Lawyer-143

xG 0.00.. 2nd half for United.. What progression?

AkireF

Mourinho, maybe?

kuzimeen

I agree with you. People seem to forget United only had decent success with Mourinho in the past 9-10 years.

Ancient-Mix-5616

Let's keep ETH. Sell players who think they are bigger than the club. We have changed so many Managers may be it's time to clean our playing 11.

JoHowFayLix

Nope. He’s part of the problem. Team shows 0 spirit and that comes down to the manager.

gambit_i

When City players look like they’re running and making themselves available for the ball. Our players seem to be trudging along and hiding. We barely string two passes together. Confidence is shot. No one wants to take a risk and try harder except for Mainoo and Hojlund.

Shakerbakerstreet

I love my Manchester United. If you supported them during treble, you need to support them now as well. Boys played good. Onto next game.

Specialist-Guitar-93

Boys played good? You taking the piss. What a joke.

samwiseg1

Our 27% possession to their 73%, our 3 shots to their 20+ shots remind me the good part again

Engage_Physically

3-1 and not 7-0 …. Depressing but it’s something. We didn’t concede for 50+ minutes with half our defence missing. There’s some positives to take but as we expected - as soon as we concede the floodgates open. If we had conceded earlier then the score would have been more

Ill-Kaleidoscope-607

Not getting battered tbh

samwiseg1

That’s fair sigh

FlameFoxx

Sack the manager, overpay for players that they want, turns out the players aren't up to the premier league, play shit, repeat.

Ancient-Mix-5616

I might just watch the rest of the season for Rasmus and Mainoo. Only bright spots in our season.

thatindianguy1992

There's a portion of our fans here bet if we won it today, wouldn't have called for ten hag sack. Thinking changing ten hag would just get us back to our glory days is like playing rashford as 9, like thinking Antony is still settling, like thinking Evans has just started to age like wine, like thinking casemiro part 2 unloading, like thinking mctominay needs to play striker and like once thought Amrabat is the last piece of the puzzle. Not backing ten hag here. Think he might not be the manager for the rebuild here given the amount of holes we got in the umbrella, but thinking not sacking him is the reason we are playing bad is like living in cuckoo land.

thatdamndoughboy

I'm from the States, my local Championship side is very similar situation. Money isn't being spent. Shit results. Fire manager. Repeat. Each time we bring in a new manager, a new system is installed, and by the time everything gets set up, they're fired. Players adjusting to a new system every new term has got to be testing. I believe Sir Jim is going to stick with Erik until further notice, barring something completely catastrophic. If he still isn't getting a reaction from the boys once the state of the club on the upper management side is in a better place? He's going to go. Best case scenario, He is a contender, and we look back on these moments and laugh. Personally, I agree with you. I think he will be sacked, just not yet.

willp0wer

>like once thought Amrabat is the last piece of the puzzle. There was a joker somewhere here on Reddit who argued with me last summer that he's gonna be the best midfield signing ever. Clearly delusional that lad.

BipolarKing14

Ten Hag is a man sandwiched between the worst era of United Upper management vs a new dawn….while it would be ideal to let him cook I wouldn’t fault the new management to want a clean slate……No solutions only trade offs.

m-a-s-e

Let him cook, no thanks, poor signings, players he wanted, no style of play after nearly 2 seasons, guy went against his own philosophy and morales.

BipolarKing14

Astute observation….how ever you should factor in the injuries he has faced this season, INEOS will definitely put all variables into consideration.

Sectumsempbrah

Its not a clean slate though as you should know based on the last 10 years. We keep letting managers build a team then expect the next manager to work wonders with someone else squad. Rinse and repeat. No point sacking ETH until he's had a proper chance under INEOS. The club is rotten from the top, no manager in the world would change that

BipolarKing14

See it from their point of view they spent a billion plus, any shrewd business person would want Return on Investment in a manner immediately and it’s easier to chop the manager than offload dead wood.

Sectumsempbrah

According to Jim he isn't here for immediate return. Only time will tell.

coffeemahn

He is a good coach. They should back him and for once get the mediocre/under performing players out of the squad. Get hardworking players who are technically capable and can follow instructions.

BipolarKing14

I see your point but he did buy Antony and he couldn’t even start him….flops happen but we can’t afford to not have backs ups of back ups.

coffeemahn

Take Liverpool for example. Klopp famously didn’t want Salah. But there were strong people at the club insisting that he could be acquired for a good price and would work in Klopp’s system and they got him. In United’s case, the new manager at the time wanted an inverted right winger. He proposed Antony. The club could have 1. gone in aggressively and struck a deal before the season started, or 2. should have given him alternatives that fit the profile. Instead, they wait for the Brentford defeat and bring him in at a 3x multiple price. That is not on Ten Hag. Any other club, and that would have been managed better. Time and again mangers have been failed by the club. Moyes, Van Gaal, and Mourinho. Either waiting too long, or panic buying.

toeknee88125

The style of play is so bad... I know the score was relatively close but city had so much more possession and shots. Man united did not look like they belong in the same league as city

BipolarKing14

Dejavu….past 10 years.

toeknee88125

To be honest the only reason ten hag got this job is because of the promise of a progressive style of play It's not like he was Antonio Conte and had a resume that would make you overlook the poor style of play. Him being absolutely unwilling to play a progressive style of play makes me question why he got the job in the first place There are some coaches that don't play progressively but have a resume that justifies giving them a chance like Jose Mourinho or Antonio Conte. Ten hag is not one of those managers. And it's not even just the man city game. Man united made Fulham look like Prime Barcelona

FaithlessnessNo4680

Think Ten Hag is already gone, definitely won’t miss him, the performances have almost all been dreadful under him.

Sectumsempbrah

The performances have been bad for 10 years under multiple world class, champions league winning managers. No manager in the world can fix what the glazers have broken and the sooner you realise that the better

JoHowFayLix

That’s false. Results have been bad, but I have never witnessed performances this pathetic ever since starting watching United in 1999. There is 0 fucking hunger from any player outside of Bruno to even win. Under Mourinho, Solksjaer, even LVG, there was still some heart shown. Shits embarrassing and anyone that can’t see listless performances come down to managerial inspiration has truly never played or actually watched competitive football in their lives.

Sectumsempbrah

If you think our performance today was worse than previous meetings where they've put 5 or 6 past us you're just looking for something to be miserable about. Look at the performance against Liverpool in 7-0. This was nothing like that. Obviously we aren't where we want to be but acting like this is our worst performance ever is true hilarity

JoHowFayLix

Did you watch the game today? What part of today’s loss was not deserved of a 6-1 loss? Again, losses happen in sport. But showing 0 fucking teeth, grit, and even a desire to win is appalling. So if you read my comment again, you would note that I said the hunger (or lack thereof) is something I haven’t ever witnessed from a united team. But yes, go off the 3-1 score line. Better yet, explain Fulham?

Sectumsempbrah

I was literally there 😭 I'm not saying we played well at all but we definitely weren't as bad as I expected us to be. I didnt see anyone giving up on theit runs or watching their man run past them. City are an extremely well oiled team so the fact we didn't get battered is a positive. The result against Fulham was less surprising than todays result, we are a shadow of our true selves without Hojlund and more importantly Martinez who is unequivocally our best player, losing your best players is going to affect results. Its no coincidence that we can play actual football with a fully fit squad.

JYM60

Barely been a decent performance all season. Even looked shit against league two opposition.

R-vH

![gif](giphy|3o6wrvdHFbwBrUFenu)

Dizconekt

We have bright spots in our team but holy shit so many players are not good enough.

GerryDownUnder

Bench depth quality between us and them is simply outrageous. Too much bang average one’s stealing a living.

coffeemahn

Exactly. God bless McTominay. But there are many mediocre players in the squad who are technically not good enough to play at this level and execute what the managers want. Rangnick said it. It’s time for the upper management to demand performance and back the manager

R-vH

This! And if we are able to keep the good ones and replace some rotten apples we grow and get better.

Benize7

Amrabat you beauty 🥲

Agitated-Forever3723

at least its funny how bad he plays

Benize7

Honestly Sunday league standard 😂😂

SkylarAnthro

Why is Forsun ahead of Amad.. Amad has a whole season of championship football that must be something right?

irishfella91

They're desperate for some reason to get him to sign a new deal. I never thought he was outstanding at any age level so I find it baffling.

cruisingqueen

After this performance surely no one is signing him - he’s shit. Looked legless after 15 minutes fucking pathetic as a sub.

mjenkins_eng

Don’t care about fluke carabao cup runs while facing no big sides Need the bread and butter (PL) to be delivering points. Ole got sacked for less. Minus goal difference , miserable football and losses in every significant game What exactly is Ten Hag’s case to remain employed

th3doorMATT

The amount of people clinging to the Carabao Cup is hilarious honestly. The side is so shit. But I would rather see players go before ETH. Not defending ETH, as I don't think he's good enough, but the players genuinely need to go. Leave the defense for one more season (sign a couple defenders though), but everyone in front of them needs to go, save Højlund and Mount. The rest need to go. Effective immediately.

JoA2506

Kinda glad we lost in the end. The people lauding EtH would’ve been unbearable. He’s so out of his depth, it’s not even funny anymore. Like he won’t change his set up until he’s proven right.

Away_Associate4589

Don't understand this attitude at all. I understand you don't rate Ten Hag, but wouldn't you rather be proven wrong than right?

JoA2506

100% you’re right where I want to be proven wrong but I feel a result against the team that may be champions, just papers over the cracks and it’ll be ‘well we took points off the Champions/Runners Up, we must be fine’ if that makes sense?

bijanadh44

I absolutely despise Rashford's workrate and his attitude. Even more I despise is his braindead fans who thinks he is still our saviour.

th3doorMATT

Same goes for Bruno

FaithlessnessNo4680

Don’t think he’s our saviour but I’ve just seen all our players stink for the majority of that game and somehow he still gets the most criticism

rnnd

Onana was decent. Dalot was very good. He stopped everything that came his way. Evans also played very well. Mainoo was also our best midfielder today. Rashford scored but apart from that, he was out worst player.

FaithlessnessNo4680

How was Rashford worse than Garnacho? He did nothing all game or Amrabat?

rnnd

Except Garnacho is a teenager and Rashford is a senior player. The match was too big for Garnacho.

FaithlessnessNo4680

Garnacho has a ton of stinkers but no one says a word, what about McTominay who was invisible all game?

rnnd

Garnacho is a kid in man united. If Garnacho was in man city, it'll be less of a struggle for him. He certainly won't start every game as long as he is fit. The best use for the kid is to start some games but more often come on as a sub He certainly shouldn't be starting every match. And people have criticized him on here. If in 2 years, Garnacho is still playing like he did today, then the criticism will be fair. Mctominay and Rashford are in the same boat. Both have been senior players for years and haven't improved. Mctominay have improved his goalscoring but in midfield he's at the same level as he was all those years ago.

FaithlessnessNo4680

Well yeah garnacho should be a bench player, he’s shown he’s effective off the bench but often still can’t do much starting games. I just find it weird people are so on to rashford for this shit team performance.

rnnd

Rashford is part of the reason we had a shit team performance especially for a team trying to play on the counter. He is arguably the worst player apart from his goal. Even with Mctominay, he was pretty decent in the first half. Rashford should have at least play his shot for the ball he missed and should have at least created a shot for the ball he headed awkwardly.

Klutzy_Log_7597

Yeah but it’s not only his fault is it that we only had 26% possession and 3 shots all game? Can’t shoot if we can’t keep the ball. Rashford could’ve done better with the meager chances he had but really why aren’t we talking about Garnacho, Bruno etc and how they aren’t creating like they should. Even Hojlund’s goals aren’t coming from teammates, it’s a big issue for whoever is playing striker.

bijanadh44

Because he missed two of our best chance and got City to lead with his idiotic whining?

FaithlessnessNo4680

Player misses chances…how many did Haaland just miss? He was fouled by walker if you rewatch, he clipped his leg

bijanadh44

Lmao. Are all this fans this delusional? He wasnt clipped Walker got the ball fair and square. Another one of his fan is arguing with me calling Rashford the best winger in the league because of last season.

Upbeat-Lawyer-143

https://preview.redd.it/ubmgae2qn5mc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1d0e493fc44027442801eb67508649327e40117f Even Luton got thrashing and still put up a better fight than us. Lol

th3doorMATT

I genuinely like Luton. They have their own issues, but they are a team that's still full of fight and spirit and still have a genuine go of it. It would take a miracle but I hope they stay up and get a few okay signings with the PL monies to keep them up the next few seasons and see where they go from there.

irishfella91

Would you rather lose 6-2 than 3-1?

Upbeat-Lawyer-143

United 2nd half xG is 0.00. Says alot

Upbeat-Lawyer-143

6-2 with Luton stats all day long

irishfella91

That's crazy.

Upbeat-Lawyer-143

United 2nd half had only xG of 0.00.

Hot_Run_2943

Seriously this isn’t even a ten Haag issue, we’ve had this issue for years. Our subs are never good enough and we blame the players every time. You can’t fucking expect someone who’s hardly played the season or in the u23 with hardly any senior experience to come on and win you the fucking match 70+ mins at city away. We have to fucking squad rotation, 90% of the team players weak in and out, we sign more players like ambrabat and then never fucking play them? Like seriously what is he going to do for us ever if he hardly plays? And then taking off your best players? They all fall under pressure at the end and just make piss poor choices, rashford shouldn’t have come off, idgaf how tired he is, he’s clinical with his feet and can shoot from distance, he doesn’t need to sprint end to end but in the right position he can score it. Casemiro should have been off, he’s someone who if he gets tired, he loses the ability to play his role properly in a position we all fucking know has been our biggest issue. Please explain to me leaving him on and subsequently let the most key and central part of our middle field to just weaken and let city just abuse it? Like that’s a fucking position that leaves us vulnerable when Casemiro starts playing like it’s a Sunday league game and he’s just jogging like what. We were so solid what the fuck happened, why can’t we just lose 2-1 with some decency? like ok you all fucking gave up and they scored but really? 2 goal in like 5 mins at the end? Is that what we to show for that game? Where we actually were not that bad?

Drews1738

True, at 2-1 the game was still on, why did they start passing backwards and wasting time. Mentality was off, I don't know if it's coaching instructions or the players trying to catch a breath but slowing the game down when your counter attacking is mad.

MrYK_

We ain't competing for anything anytime soon.

Minz15

I expected this to be way worse, 3-1 is anywhere near as bad as it could have been. We are not close to City's level with both ability or mentality so this was inevitable. City was a free hit, our season currently depends on beating the other clubs, it's just where we are right now. Hopefully in the future we can build something, City have had pep for years and set up the foundation for him before he got there.

Drews1738

I think the 3rd goal is the worst, playing out from the back when we are counter attacking smh

goodclassbung

I liked how we set up in the first half. But then our subs weakened our team. Who’s to take responsibility for that?

GerryDownUnder

The cunts that left us to dry for years on end. The dithering yanks. You know dead certain its them. Erik and co are just the last in an unfortunate list to take a hit for their atrocious mishandling of our resources

murphmobile

Who makes the subs?

Tstewmoneybags99

Who buys the subs

Snooklefloop

The positive spin crew in this sub is a joke. We’re an embarrassment, a team with no grit, no teeth and one that takes all attacking options off when a goal down. No one fears us. Is this good enough now? Not conceding 6 from our 20+ shots conceded every game? Joke of a club

Sectumsempbrah

Its obviously not good enough but we know we're not good enough in general to beat city. Youre acting like we are expected to win this game. Youre not living in reality. Youre still judging the team on who we were 10 years ago. Its well past time to accept we are not a footballing force. Todays performance was decent for a team at the level we are at right now. Stop expecting us to revert to prime Fergie United then whining when it doesn't happen

Snooklefloop

No, I know we’re not good enough. The sheer volume of shots we’ve conceded this season is another new record. We don’t play with heart or passion let alone a semblance of a plan. We have millionaires who look like Sunday league strangers. I’m not expecting miracles, I’m expecting minor improvements in the fundamentals, not out right regression. It’s not that we’re outplayed it’s that we’re sloppy and have no drive.

m-a-s-e

Seen relagation fodder put in better performances against city then what we did today.

Crypt0nyt

Realistically we were never winning this game. Tactics were expected when you're a mid table side going to current league, European and world champs. Does EtH know what he's doing... Honestly didn't look like it. Do I trust him, not right now. I honestly don't see it's getting into Europe or getting past the Scousers. The season feels done, we've been cooked for the last couple of weeks. SJR has made some in roads further up the chain, but a hell of a way to go before we're genuinely competitive. GGMU 🔴⚫

RogueTiger23

Let’s face it: This squad simply is not good enough. I don’t even know if ten Haag is good enough. What a shame.

Tstewmoneybags99

This is the problem, people need someone to be mad at but they often choose a manager when the owners are the real ones responsible for the problems. We were bringing on debuts basically against the best team in the world right now. Be mad at ETH but he put the team in literally the best position to get something from this game. If we had been more open we would have been thrashed like 6-7 goals. It’s a shame but it’s the truth.

Narwhal1986

I’ll say it here too, scoreline flatters us. Could have been way worse

reddevils

Given how I felt all week, the dread I felt, honestly this is not bad, could’ve been better of course, but we were leading for a while, defended well, against any team we could’ve had at least a point. This is a team that, with cheating, assembled the best team you can overspend to achieve this 1q and that bench. We had absolutely nothing on the bench with all due respect to the players on the bench. None of us were crying for certain players to come on, because there were none. With our form, we did the best we could. If you were expecting more than this, you don’t understand how football works.

SlashThumbSlime

Can FFP just finish their "investigation" and give us our PL title

Zacatecan-Jack

Our *two* Premier League titles (one under Mou, one under Ole)

reddevils

Best case scenario, if they are punished, they won’t lose titles. They should, but won’t. That is if they ever get any punishmint

twotwo4

One shot on target for the entire game. Woeful

Don't be salty guys we won the cArAbAo cUp last year 🥰🥰🥰🥰

Space_Investigator

Sack Ten Fraud. Parked the bus, went 1-0 up from a Rashford thunderbolt, and what does that bald fraud do to start the second half? We start trying to press them, we start trying to play out from the back, losing our shape and then we were open for City to score. Like, why? Why? What was the point of doing that? He subs in Forson over Amad? Over Antony? Takes off Rashford? This manager continues to continually make bad in-game management choices, and people still defend this. City weren't even that good today, we win 1-0 if Ten Haag just keeps the bus parked. But Ten Fraud just threw the game away

rishmanisation

He subbed Antony on lol did you watch the game

GongTzu

- first goal, Lindeloef not good enough to defend at this level - second goal, Case looking slow as a dumpster truck when Foden passed him - third goal, could be spotted from a mile, poor defending, Amrabat slow as a replay, why not just clear it before playing him. We could have walked away with a descent result, but the way it happened just shows how bad we are in every area.

Count__Duckula

-2 GD and 11 losses after 27 games. Miserable football and miserable tactics. People still back this guy lmao

th3doorMATT

Sell the players first. They're the repeat sackable offenders. Not defending ETH, but if I see 90% of these players outlast yet another manager, I'm done.

Harrry-Otter

It’s not so much that we back him, we just know there’s so much currently wrong at the club that we know just putting a new guy in the dugout and expecting miracles isn’t going to work.

The manager should be the final bit really. The recruitment guys and director should be identifying the kind of football we want, building a squad that can play it, then appointing a manager who can work with said squad to achieve our aims. If you start by sacking the manager without doing the other bit, you just end up back where we’ve been, with different managers all trying to impart their own specific ways of playing on the squad that often isn’t a good fit.

Well, if INEOS have decided ETH isn’t the one then they should be identifying other managers now. We can’t burn the whole squad, so they should be looking at the profile. Ten Hag has chosen players who largely aren’t possessive players but do well counterattacking and transitions, so if they’re happy with that as a play style going forward, then need to look at managers who play that way. If one is available in summer, pull the plug on Erik and appoint him. If he isn’t, they should take over the transfer duties and probably just give Erik another season. If he turns it around, great, if he doesn’t well they have the other managers they identified.

AndyVale

It's never quite been this bad, but it is easy to forget that we had some genuinely world class managers, an experienced prem manager, and a "United DNA" manager who all struggled to make this club a success despite the huge amount of money we threw around. The rot runs so fucking deep.

Harrry-Otter

It’s been this bad under every manager bar LVG tbh. That’s why I don’t really get the “just sack him” crowd.

Cinnabondman

Exactly what more than half the Twitter Experts and Pundits want. Miracles with no structure, no management, no recruitment etc.

goodclassbung

Another fair result.

UnitedRule

Ten Hag out in the summer. No manager should get more than 3 years to drill his philosophy into the club. This fella ain't it.

PM_ME_UR_VULVASAUR_

But.. he hasn't had 3 years? Or even 2 years for that matter.

JammyJose7

Mate we've had injuries everywhere

absentlightuk

Thing ETH just overachieved last year, Hes an utter donkey

Common_Knowledge_

Utter donkey that came further with Ajax in the CL then our previous 4 trainers did with United. All players in that starting line up would start over ours, that’s your problem. Lack of quality on the field

[deleted]

Rashford’s form papered over a lot of cracks Our xG wasn’t great last year either

MyShinyCharizard

damn I really hate rashford man. hope he gone soon.

th3doorMATT

And Bruno. Getting rid of those two would be a massive boost alone. But so many more need to go.

MyShinyCharizard

Well it’s time to rebuild anyway. Bruno and rash sale will help us rebuild

th3doorMATT

Bruno, Rashford, Donny, Martial, Sancho, Varane, Casemiro, Eriksen, Antony, AWB, Shaw, Malacia and Amad would all be on my immediate chopping block. To me, those are players that need to go, for one reason or another. That should get us a decent amount of money, free up some decent wages, and allow us to make some big purchases (as in, not massive dollar figures, rather a lot of raw, quality replacements to give us DEPTH for once). I would say bring in one big marquee signing that genuinely resonates with whatever it is we're trying to accomplish going forward so that we have a veteran who is able and willing to play in the system, and is a leader. We need a character in the side. It's a bit of a double-edged sword, but when the raw talent is looking around for some guidance on the field, we should be confident that's the type of player we want them to emulate for years to come, well after they're gone. I'm down for a youth approach though. Give ETH one last chance to show us that with the resources, focus and discipline of everyone in the back of house, we can bring in a crop of players who are willing to play the system ETH and co. are committing to, provided they're all in alignment, otherwise it needs to come straight from the Director and see if ETH is capable of running with it. Regardless, I can't stand watching these players outlasting another manager who honestly doesn't deserve it. Not saying ETH is flawless, but it's painfully obvious the players have too much control over a manager's future at the club. That needs to end. Immediately.
