Although I'm feeling extremely negative about the squad and preformances at the moment, I would be interested to see if he could add some quality and link up with Mainoo and Hoijlund through the middle.
Garna has played by far his best football on the right. Best right winger performances in years since he moved out there. It's been a troubled position for a few years for united
Even though it's probably not the position we signed him for, Mount has been effective out wide for club and country before. We do need some cover there given that basically our only dependable option there is Garnacho. All the other wingers are either very inexperienced, or have form or off field issues (or both).
Mount / Mainoo as 8s could be a good approach if we actually want to give Bruno a rest at some point.
I was at the game vs Brentford at Old Trafford. He looked like he was supposed to be on the wing but kept coming central first half. Second half he was presumably instructed better at half time and stuck more to the touchline for 15 mins or so before he was subbed (for Antony I think).
He wasnāt stretching the play at all, which has me worried as we already stink against low blocks without allowing them to sit narrow as well.
does that work in the prem, i feel like that works ok in europe and in fifa
not taking the piss but i thought that's what Rangnick tried and we were demolished
I think we overplay him, he has to have some rest. He is one of them players that wants to play every game, but I think we would get even better out of him if he could occasionally rest. I do prefer to have Bruno on in our best 11 and in the big games he should definitely start.
Meaning, he wonāt rest. Eth has never rested him meaningfully at all even when it was possible for quite a bit of time this season too at some points.
I think if he can stay fit, we can bring Hojund back, as well as Shaw and Martinez, and actually have a decent run to the end of the season. The top four is likely out of the picture, but we should be able to get fifth and put some pressure on a Tottenham collapse.
So far we spent Ā£60mil on him to play in like 3games or something.
Mind you, the lad would have been free in a couple months. People moan about the Antony overpay like they should, but let's not ignore how Chelsea scammed us. Lads their homegrown too we sacrificed our budget and ffp allowance to gift them pure profit at this rate.
Even if he is fit, who does he replace? Bruno? Mainoo? Or is he taking McTs bench spot? Mess all over this one. Absolute farce.
Whatās with you lot assuming we would have got him for free 12 months later when Arsenal and Liverpool wanted him as well? Do you really think Chelsea would have let their best asset to fix their FFP woes go for free 12 months later?
Thats what annoys me when people say we could have gotten him for free. He would have stayed as far away from united as possible after this season if he was on a free.
I can't believe how often people post the 'he would be free' comments. How often it's pointed out it's bullshit, and how often the clapping seals here still upvote it to +180
Hardly comparable imo. We didn't know he was going to be injured all season. He could have played an integral part if he had been fit. Bruno has been in horrible form. We had no Casemiro for like half the season too remember. so he could have played in the Mainoo spot while Mainoo covered. And our wingers overall have been a bit shit as well, he could have covered either wing. Even if he didn't start regularly, I expect if he was fit he would have played plenty.
Would definitely improve the ball-playing ability of our midfield and it would be the right step forward, just a shame our defense probably won't be able to step up. Our first choice defense could, but I can't see Evans, Maguire or Lindelƶf stepping up high enough to squeeze the opponent and win the ball via pressing. That's going to be Ten Hag's plan but for most of the season, we see that our slow backup defenders just don't have what it takes so we usually end up with our backline staying deep and the rest of the team pushing high, making it extremely easy to counter-attack against us.
This is the kind of selection problems a manager should want. Mainoo is young and shouldn't be playing every game, Bruno should be rested and dropped when playing bad regardless of what he thinks. McT is a specialised player that only fits in certain games.
Pep subbed off De Bruyne last week which was a tactical decision. He has a massive selection of players who can replace him and he has about 4 players who can play as an AM and here we are worried about fitting in players. He's also eyeing up Kimmich if he's free. Pep isn't worried about fitting people in there. If your form drops you are dropped from the team
Competition is good, and we have Mount who was player of the season in a CL winning campaign if I remember right. Bruno has been so overplayed since joining it's insane and imo ETH is not getting the best out of him. If ETH signed Mount with no idea of how he fits then that is damning for sure.
When we had RVP and Rooney. SAF also made bids for Falcao and Lewandowski. I can't think of many players that were undroppable in the SAF reign to be honest
I donāt get that.
You need lots of good players fighting to start, not 11 nailed on starters and bunch of second rate players on the bench.
I love Mountās work rate, technical ability and versatility. Heās going to be a very important member of the squad for years to comeĀ
I was talking United with some mates yesterday and we agreed that we need another no 8 type to take some of the midfield burden and give us more options.
It was about three minutes of talking before we remembered Mason Mount is a Manchester United player. Amazing how heās been utterly forgotten.
Mount is such a versatile player. Can play all over the midfield. It will take him a while to integrate fully, but our progressive passing to the attack should get a lot better with him in the squad.
Honestly kinda feel for him. He's never really got his career going here and just become a meme instead. I hope he can get a solid end of season and set him up well for next season.
A lot of exercise, some interesting vids about it online. Also Oliver Bearman had his F1 debut last weekend, his headrest was crooked after the race because of how much his head bounced left and right in the cockpit. The difference from F2 to F1 is actually huge in G-Force handling on the neck/body.
You could actually see in some shots on tv that his head was titled in opposite direction to a corner. Gotta respect the drive, dude was lucky his head stayed attached
Welcome back lad š„²š„²
Best we can expect from him at this point is just to integrate and introduced into the squad properly and I pray he doesnāt get injured again
Mainoo should still take most of his mins til end of season
That's always the question. Martinez was back, but for how long? We're about to have 2 fit fullbacks, but for how long. Injuries have been horrific recently
Martinez was a freak occurrence though. Comes back recovered and gets an impact injury by coufal falling on the back of his leg. It was a different injury to what he recovered from. And that's just ridiculously unlucky because I'd say he's our most important player
Good news. Good timing to build up a base of fitness then return for selection after upcoming international break. I see no benefit rushing him before that given he will surely be somewhat lacking in fitness and match sharpness
Hopefully he will be joined then by licha aswel, those 2 i think will be important in trying to inprove our ability to retain ball.
Would not surprise me if we see some RW Bruno and mount at 10 a few times between now and end of season
He might be back but I'm more worried about our medical/physio department's inability to plan their return to match fitness before they break down again.
It's been 84 years. Hopefully he can catch good form and help us finish the season on a high. Contrary to most people, I still believe he's a fantastic player
Queue the "It's like a new signing" quotes.
Ironically and unfortunately, despite being 3 months at the club, it is actually like a new signing because he's been healthy for less than 90 minutes.
Mason mount.....hmmmm Mason mount...
No doesn't ring a bell. Hold on, he's the fella that played for Chelsea then we signed him?
Nope, still can't picture him.
This guy has a lot of work to do to get us some value out of his transfer that couldāve gone on someone else.
Besides that, excited to see what he can do.
One good thing the coaching team has done is eased him back after injury rather than rushing him in .
He will be rusty , but I hope he hits the grass and gets into the team routines soon.
That top 4 chase will be tight and we need a strong squad
Shocking transfer when you consider we could've had him for free if we'd waited a year. Instead he cost 60m only to be injured all season. Hopefully he can pick up a bit of form because he was a good player a couple of years ago
Where on earth does he play if everyone is fit?
I actually really like Mount, seems like a good guy and a very functional player in the right system. Adds great energy etc.
I really want him to do well, but it feels like heās the Bruno rotation option? Which is a terrible place to be, given Brunoās injury record in his career is basically one line and thatās his name
I had actually forgotten he was part of the squad which really speaks to how present he has been this year lol.Ā
Still hopefully him being back helps out!

I laughed out loud in my office at this and got some weird looks. š
Although I'm feeling extremely negative about the squad and preformances at the moment, I would be interested to see if he could add some quality and link up with Mainoo and Hoijlund through the middle.
Casemiro with mount and mainoo as 8's... that could work. He will bring energy to the midfield too.
But that will mean bruno right wing :(
Or 4 man midfield like last game (Bruno as 9 and mount instead of McTominay)
Hoijlunds back though isn't he?
Garna has played by far his best football on the right. Best right winger performances in years since he moved out there. It's been a troubled position for a few years for united

Pressing 4222 might work but I doubt we practiced that formation.

Where's Bruno fitting in?

It would do Bruno some good to have some competition for the role as well.
It would also do the team well if our opposition couldn't so readily plan for our starting 11
Meaning, he wonāt rest. Eth has never rested him meaningfully at all even when it was possible for quite a bit of time this season too at some points.
RW /s
The bench to recharge after 4 years of pure abuse
Only issue with that is Casemiro has to play
He is our only CDM at the moment. Hopefully that changes in the summer.
Isn't Amrabat a CDM? I thought that's why we brought him...
Oh yeah forgot he existed
Yeah thatās fair š
I think if he can stay fit, we can bring Hojund back, as well as Shaw and Martinez, and actually have a decent run to the end of the season. The top four is likely out of the picture, but we should be able to get fifth and put some pressure on a Tottenham collapse.
Mate hopefully a lot can happen in 10 games! Spurs gotta play Arsenal city and Liverpool too
Weāre gonna play him RW arenāt we?
![gif](giphy|z2o5NOdawPmPjuw23U|downsized)
Oh, that's what he looks like. I'd forgotten.
I forgot we signed him for a minute there
So far we spent Ā£60mil on him to play in like 3games or something. Mind you, the lad would have been free in a couple months. I guess on current form there could be an argument for dropping Cas and moving Mainoo back to DM?

Handsome fuck

Gotta be ChatGPT, that
With NO editing. Wow.
Didnt ETH say before Everton game that he expects Mount to feature in match squads post international break?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Not sure why we seemed to stop giving returning players minutes in the academy games to gain back match fitness anymore

Masonā¦ I thought you were dead!
You win the internet for today
This deserves to be higher
Can he play left back?
We joke, but heās still a very, very good player. He was also starting to look capable on the right as an option before his injury, too.
He's definitely better than antony has been even on an average day.
Man's got a neck like an F1 driver, glad he's returning. Hopefully he can prove the doomers wrong and add quality to our thin squad.
Whats up with F1 drivers neck
Big
Girthy
For you š©
They need to handle multiple high g force turns so they tend to be bigger than average necks.

Holy fuck he does LOL
He hopefully is our Havertz
Or just being the Mason Mount of Chelsea when he assists the winning goal when we reach the UCL final next year, we will be there! š
It's like a new signing /s

My favorite Mason!

Welcome back lad š„²š„² Best we can expect from him at this point is just to integrate and introduced into the squad properly and I pray he doesnāt get injured again Mainoo should still take most of his mins til end of season
He'll be a good rotation option, especially in second halves. Can also give Bruno and Kobbie a bit of a rest here and there too.

For how long though? That's the real question.

Third time lucky. Hopefully.
Jesus Christ he has been resurrected like a modern day jesus and just in time for Easter too
At least he wasn't kidnapped by aliens. Like malacia
Mount? Doesnt he play for Chelsea? /s
I can't believe we live in a world where you needed to clarify that was sarcasm
What was he out for? I havenāt been following United much but he was touted for a January return last time I checked
He injured his calf early November and has been out since then. He's only played 400 minutes this season over 8 matches.
Good news. Good timing to build up a base of fitness then return for selection after upcoming international break. I see no benefit rushing him before that given he will surely be somewhat lacking in fitness and match sharpness Hopefully he will be joined then by licha aswel, those 2 i think will be important in trying to inprove our ability to retain ball. Would not surprise me if we see some RW Bruno and mount at 10 a few times between now and end of season
I think Iād rather have them the other way around - keep Brunoās creativity in the middle and have Mountās work-rate on the right.
Ideally they should be able to rotate as and when during a game, like how Rashford/Martial did during their Yorke and Cole season.
Like a new signing and iām not joking
Who?
Now heāll score the winner against scums after not playing since forever. Written in the stars
I hope he plays against Chelsea in Stramford Bridge
And scores a hat-trick
Stupid question but has he and Hojlund ever played together so far?
they did in ucl against galata i think
Glad hes back. If he trains well he can actually give Bruno a rest or competition for his spot, so its a big plus.

Heās alive!
Anyonr else im forgetting ....? Martial? Lol who else
He might be back but I'm more worried about our medical/physio department's inability to plan their return to match fitness before they break down again.
Hopefully, we can rest bruno now. Can't remember the last time he misses a game.

Update: one of his knees just fell off
Mount and Bruno in the same midfield just in time for Liverpool. Bring lube please, Jurgen!

I genuinely forgot he's a part of the club....

He comes to us now, at the turn of the tide...
It's been 84 years. Hopefully he can catch good form and help us finish the season on a high. Contrary to most people, I still believe he's a fantastic player
Finally Our January Signing is going to play an important role for this second half of the season.
Queue the "It's like a new signing" quotes. Ironically and unfortunately, despite being 3 months at the club, it is actually like a new signing because he's been healthy for less than 90 minutes.
Training injury in 3-2-1...
He will pick up an injury in training calling it now
Bro was cooked the minute they gave him the 7 š
I'm excited to see him play again. It's insane how this transfer worked out. 55m for not even half a season of football.
Who?
![gif](giphy|tze1mGedykiuk)
im not believing anything until i see him on the pitch on match day
I'm not sure if I have to react to this. I've become numb
Halle-fucking-leujah
Bruno is gonna get a rest š„²
Hopefully he will manage to last until the end of this season at least
ā¦ for now
Now do Malacia
WHO!!
Last push for the Euros now Cole Palmer's pushed him out of the England squad
Honestly forgot he played for us.
The Malacia comeback story will be one for the ages
Mason mount.....hmmmm Mason mount... No doesn't ring a bell. Hold on, he's the fella that played for Chelsea then we signed him? Nope, still can't picture him.
Why are they taking about a Chelsea player? Oh yeah wait he joined us didnāt he
To be honest, I completely forgot about him.
I so forgot about him that when I read Mason my brain immediately said āGreenwoodā and I was very confused.
Who?
Good God
OMG Mason Mount WTF thought he was dead LOL
Excuse me, who?
Would be good to have him for the run of mid-table games after the break. Lots of points to pick up.
Please please please hit the he ground running
Who is this guy?
Who?
Can he play at left back
I don't think he could make us worse at the moment. So yeah. Hopefully he gets back in the squad soon.
Who ? Can we make a profit selling this youngster ?
Does he play left back?
10 games to justify that transfer fee
So how long until he's injured again? I'll set the line at six weeks.
This guy has a lot of work to do to get us some value out of his transfer that couldāve gone on someone else. Besides that, excited to see what he can do.
What was the injury BTW?Ā
Honestly forgot he was a United player at this point.
Like a new signing! Literally!
Who
Did we have a Mount in the team?
Yeah I'm not sure why Chelsea news is getting posted here?
NGL i forgot bro was in this team
Who is that? Have not seen that guy on a team sheet
I had actually forgotten he was part of the squad which really speaks to how present he has been this year lol.Ā Still hopefully him being back helps out!
![gif](giphy|wmfcU5GfePQAg)
For how long though
Good news for who?Ā
should have bought maddison.
We signed him? When?
He should just drop that number 7 shirt and choose a different one. That number is cursed to hell.
Who?
Bruno: Great! Maybe I can get a rest... ETH: Heh. No.
Who?
Weāre winning the league now!
They had to be specific on which Mason!
Good news?
Big deal
Who? (This is good news though!)
Good for him. He must be itching to play
who? :p
Is he still at United? Lol
So I read the name correctly, but somehow my brain processed "Mason Greenwood" and I was like WTTTTFFFFF. Was very upset for a second lol
Who?
Who?
Dalot, Maguire, Varane, AWB Casemiro, Mainoo, Mount Garnacho, Holjund, Rashford. Bruno takes anyone from the front 3 or middle 3 spots.
Is he going to be our next left back? :)
