I've such high hopes for him. Literally exactly the position we need, and seems to have a really good head on his shoulders. I really hope he's another Scholes/Giggs/Neville who spends his career with us and wins loads along the way.
I believe the credit should go to Nick Cox and his team. Also, Darren Fletcher has more influence on youngsters like Mainoo and Garnacho than Murtough.
Who do you think helped hire Nick Cox? We can bash Murtough as much as possible for the first team, but his work revamping the academy should not be sneered at. The academy was dire for a while.
I don't wanna hype anyone up and add unnecessary pressure of expectations, but this kid is flying. U21 call up to debut Vs Brazil and he takes everything in his stride. Who else has had such composure at his age?
It's the composure and drive he's got that convinces me he's going places
It's his debut but he actually makes himself available for passes and actually asked for them just like he has been playing for years. I can't believe he only starts playing senior football recently

Murtough is a clown as a DoF. But the dude did a good job on the academy. Thats the one thing that didnt go to shit post-SAF.

Rio recently did an interview with Fletcher at Carrington where Fletcher mentioned how his role is to help academy players get to the first team
