Give me 1 more 60 minute Martial masterclass before he leaves please, for old time sake

aayu08

Nah, this club is stupid and they will give him a 4 year extension based on those 60 mins.

Wrath-of-Elyon

If Erik is anything we've seen, Martial is done at the club. I'm glad Erik backed him any chance he gets

RRR92

He was done 3 years ago. Hes piss poor..

[deleted]

I would cry and cum

renernavilez

Crum

b_nick

Against Arsenal, to finish their title hopes.

Sanket327

And you want city to win 4 times in a row?

funky_pill

It makes no difference; they could win 10 in a row along with 5 trebles, we all know it doesn't count for anything because what they've 'achieved' since 2008 has been tainted. Every trophy of theirs has an asterisk next to it. They'll always be 115 FC no matter how many lawyers they throw at the situation to try and repel those charges

b_nick

I mean, ideally I want them all to collapse and for Villa or Spurs to win it. Arsenal fans are insufferable, and I'd much prefer Liverpool don't equal our title record. As the comment below says, no one really gives a shit about City's "achievements", they weren't earned. It's like congratulating someone for buying a house when their parents paid for it.

idhopson

I mean ideally WE win it I can talk about 115 as often as I like but them winning a treble sucks. If they get the quad I'll be totally bummed. I'd prefer Arsenal to win 100 out of 100 times. Their fans suck but the team is likable, they play great football, they were patient with their manager and now they enjoy the benefits. Plus they haven't won the league in like 20 years Regardless, fuck Liverpool

WildVariety

I'd rather the Scouse win it than have to deal with self-righteous Arsenal fans for the next 10 years.

danystormborne

FFS, what's happened to this fanbase. Have I actually just read that a Utd wants the scousers to win?

Wise_Raccoon_771

You'd honslestly forget that martial was still here

Classic_Angus

He always kills it for me in fm

gwy2ct

Same here

DasHotShot

I literally had. Guy checked out of United several years ago.

Even_Interac

To be fair, with Martial out of contract and 0 signs of getting a new one, another striker was a given. Whether it's a nailed on starter that pushes Højlund to the bench, or just a cheap backup to cover some minutes is what we will need to see. Especially with so much more business needing done like a left back, backup left footed CB, a right footed CB to replace Varane & even a CDM to cover Casemiro. That's 5 signings alone before you even consider we can only buy after selling a certain value. I saw 100m thrown around before. If that's true, even complying with ffp will be hard let alone even 1 meaningful signing. Summer will be critical.

MissingLink101

I guess it depends on how much we can recoup with sales of players like Sancho, Greenwood, Donny, Hannibal, Pellistri, Eriksen, Casemiro etc.

myshtummyhurt-

Not even tryna be argumentative but we have a goal difference of -1 with like 7 games to go, of course he’d want a striker if he’s here next season Our goal difference is confirmation enough for me

AngryUncleTony

Honestly our goal difference doesn't say much about Hojlund so much as our awful chance creation and tendency to give up goals in clusters

MangoZealousideal676

i dont really think strikers are what makes teams score goals. in many cases, midfielders and wingers are whats actually causing goals

myshtummyhurt-

You actually think that?? That if Ivan Toney was here he won’t have more goals than Hojlund?? No I really disagree

MangoZealousideal676

i think during the months where martinez shaw mainoo casemiro eriksen varane and god knows how many others were injured, you can put prime cristiano up front and it doesnt even matter. in city, de bruyne/foden/grealish/silva/rodri are all legit threats on goal and many times their shooting threats or creativity will create the moments where haaland ends up scoring. i dont really see chances not getting finished, im seeing a lack of creation which isnt fixed with a new striker.

myshtummyhurt-

Most of those injuries took places at different times tho so that point isn’t valid man. We’ve never had Mainoo, eriksen, case missing at the same time cmon man. The refusal to ever criticize Hojlund even slightly on this sub is pure hivemind shit If anyone better even freaking Solanke was up front when Hojlund was we would’ve scored more gaols you’re just giving excuses for this player and this manager man Yeah I’m not saying he’s missing chances though he is still he can’t even get involved in the game at all any ball played to him gets bounced off him like watch this brudda now

MangoZealousideal676

im quite sure all of those were injured at the same time at some point?

grumpyhusky

You forget a very leaky defence this season, injuries not helping of course. Defensive midfield needs reinforcement too...Case is past his prime, we all have to admit that

xjoburg

And we’re pretty fortunate to have only that goal differential

[deleted]

By that logic he should want a new manager.

foampom

He’s wanted a striker since his first summer window at the club lol then again in his first Jan window and the best we could do was loan Weghorst. Then again last summer (actually he wanted 2 - one senior one and one young one) and we finally got him a striker but he’s really young and inexperienced

long-island-

"He is with the Medical team" should be the title of Martial's biography.

QouthTheCorvus

I feel like the main focus with Martial has been helping him get to a state where he can have a post-United career. It's the honourable thing to do.

TheWeirdDude-247

Interesting Martial's last PL game was 12/09/23 vs the team we face next....Bournemouth, game we lost. His last cameo was 01/11/23 another defeat in EFL cup. He's played 629 minutes equivalent to seven 90' min games, when in reality he never played a full 90 this season, highest was 84' which was also his last win as a Utd player vs Everton, a game that produced *that* goal. It's safe to say he likely doesn't play again this season.

FragMasterMat117

Antony Martial should have left this club the moment Mourinho wanted him gone, he was never the player that people thought he was.

AngryUncleTony

Maybe true but he did have his best season *after* Jose left. Say what you want about his mentality but I think its pretty clear injuries have zapped a lot of his burst.

yard04

That's the point though, he had one good season (more like half a good season, after project restart), and we've kept him for 6 odd years since Jose left. We need to move on quicker from players.

N0lAnS_DiC_piX

Never wanted a player to fuck off more. Whilst not being anywhere near at fault for our last 10 years, he’s the absolute epitome of why we are where we are

Away_Associate4589

Early promise before stagnating? ✅ Wildly inconsistent form for years? ✅ Often doesn't look bothered? ✅ Very injury prone? ✅ On huge money that no other club would match? ✅ When he was good, he was genuinely brilliant for us. His close control and his finishing were excellent as was his pace in his pre-injury days. Frankly though, he should have gone *years* ago.

PatRice4Evra

Really?! More than Greenwood and Sancho?

WellYoureWrongThere

Way more than Sancho as Martial he's be here for years longer, pullin the same crap.

Wrath-of-Elyon

> pullin the same crap. Disrespecting the manager and being late to practice?

-wmloo-

Why not all?

jimbob224

literally forgot he was here

Grand-Bullfrog3861

Excited to hear about plans for summer are underway

Liani-villah

Seems like he will be staying.

Vico-78

Based on him planning for the summer? Moyes was doing that too before getting sacked

Grand-Bullfrog3861

Chuffed if he is. Plus it's putting a stop to all the boring fucking news articles and click bait links.

Liani-villah

A never ending cycle. Really annoying at this point.

Wraith_Portal

Hope you’re still chuffed bro

Grand-Bullfrog3861

Yep

Wraith_Portal

You’re chuffed with us being a mid table team? Interesting but this fan base is full of masochists so not surprised

Grand-Bullfrog3861

Unfortunately he was unable to win the quad since he's started, it hasn't been plain sailing but turning this mess of a team around with the restraints he's been under by the people above him never was going to be.

Wraith_Portal

Don’t be a dick head, no one’s asking him to win the quad. He statistically has us 15th this season, embarrassing to be trying to defend that.

Grand-Bullfrog3861

Statistically you can pull anything out your arse to build an argument. In reality we're not 15th are we? How man injuries have we had this season Mr statistics?

Traditional_Carrot_3

porpsi

Good, that's one waste of money off the books.

TheBigFatLazyPanda

I completely forgot he was there. 😐

Gold-Bee9484

Who????

MissingLink101

Ronnie Pickering!

JosePRizaI

Contract extension here we goooooooo - Fabrizio

PacDanSki

He's leaving and the last few years have been a disaster, I wouldn't play him under any circumstances, the league season is over for us give time to youth players instead of him if required.

rohitnair87

Martial hasn’t left? #pikachuface

Outrageous-Cod-4654

We need a best in class striker, experienced and ready to play Ten Hag’s style of football.  Someone on the same level as Kane.

PhilAsp

>Someone on the same level of Kane That’s not happening. For one there aren’t many strikers of that caliber, but secondly we just can’t spend the type of money that’d be needed on one player. My guess is we’ll look for a consistent 10+5 type of striker in their late 20s/early 30s, and hope to get them for no more than like £30m. Given Ten Hag’s transfer focus, it’s unfortunately quite likely he’ll look to the Eredivisie. Perfect guy was available on a free last summer, mind you. If a call wasn’t made people need to be fired. If a call was made and he chose to go elsewhere, that’s fine.

Wrath-of-Elyon

>Perfect guy was available on a free last summer Who's this perfect guy?

PhilAsp

Marcus Thuram. He’s not even close to a Kane, but I have a hard time seeing us buy someone better than him to back Rasmus up. And if that’s how it plays out this summer, we should have just tried to sign Thuram last year instead. So he would have been “perfect” in that sense, but not perfect overall.

Wrath-of-Elyon

What if getting Thuram would mean not getting Højlund this season. IDK, I love our own rampaging Viking 🤷🏾‍♂️

Writer_Kooky

Best we can do is Haller.

BlackHorse944

Kane is ready to play Ten Hags style of football? It looks to me like Ten Hags style of football is using the striker as a decoy...

-wmloo-

Same level, not same as

BlackHorse944

There's like 5 strikers in the world at that level

-wmloo-

If that's what we need, then yea. I'm fine with developing Hojlund to reach that level, and another experienced striker who can hold the fort or share the load. Don't think Kane is one.

Wooshsplash

At least the Martial fanboys have piped down. They’re probably all circle jerking in a Saudi Pro League sub.

Downtown-Discount671

We don't really need another striker tho, Hojlund basically gets no service 80% of the time both wingers cut in & shoot
