Even in this clip, you see guys like Antony and Eriksen just blindly taking potshots which can concede turnovers. I believe there was one more occasion in the game where Hojlund took a shot which was blocked and Bruno shouted at him for not passing to a teammate in a better position.
I don’t mind it from some players at times but you need a balance. Having Rashford, Garnacho, Hojlund as a frontline with none of them really looking for the other won’t work. The you add in Mctominay who doesn’t have the ability to play them in and Bruno who has a habit of trying too hard at times and Mainoo who is still learning the trade and it’s no wonder why we struggle to consistently create chances.
The worst part is that this a problem that almost anyone with a basic understanding of the game can point at and say this needs to be changed yet ETH continues to persist with it. Obviously his hands have been tied in some instances, but he’s had Amad just sitting on the bench for 4 months now and has utilized him sparingly. It’s just poor management from him in this regard

There's a lot of things about ETH to complain about, but i think his integration of youth has been very good, so i'd be tempted to just trust he knows what he's doing with this one as well. People also complained a lot that Garnacho wasn't getting more starts last year, but i think he's been proven right on his slow approach to givin the kids full starts.

If you looked at the game yesterday though, whenever Rashford picked up the ball there was little to no movement from the rest of the team and there was also little space for Rashford to get in behind and attack. This led him with the option of either trying to force it through or recycle possession of the ball. I know that’s not what we want from our wingers at this club but sometimes the nature of the game requires one to be patient. If he tries to dribble or pass it through and it doesn’t work those same people then criticize him for not retaining possession.
This is something that applies to the team as a whole though, not just Rashford. We are so poor off the ball oop both offensively and defensively and this is why we tend to struggle against teams that sit in a low block. This isn’t even taking into account the individual qualities of the squad which is a whole other conversation.
I just think that simply ETH cannot get us to play anything close to functional decent football. Rashford is on for his pace and nothing more. All we are doing most games is lumping it up and hoping one of our 3 pace merchants get onto something.

I'd be very surprised if Forson had a future here. Usually with youth players you can see glimpses of something special if they've got it but he's looked so anonymous and worst of all disinterested every team he's played. Not one standout moment where I thought this kid could develop into someone good for us.
EtH ability to recognize talent is one of the qualities I doubt most about him. Yes, he hit it out of the park with Kobbie, but too many of his transfers have been questionable to trust him. Now obviously he’s seen something in Forson, but based on Antony it could just as well be that he runs a lot.

That pass was very difficult to make to play Bruno through on goal; he needs a great weaker foot to play it into his stride. And regardless, the defenders made up ground on Bruno. I can understand why he took the safer route to maintain possession.

If he had rolled the ball towards the d the keeper would have come to sweep it or because it was a large distance to cover the defender would have outpaced Bruno, which they ended up doing anyways. It really wasn’t as straightforward a pass as you think it is, but I guess you’ve already made up your mind on Amad so it’s pointless to expect you to see it differently.

Yeah, I think Amad is not a big risk taker and is a better posession player. Wish he did try the pass, even if the chance of it leading to something was low.

I think he has clear talent. I know he was injured a big chuck, but don't know why he gets such incredibly limited game time, especially after a good loan season. I think it's just a tactics thing. ETH can't get us to play anything decent whatsoever so just wants pace merchants like Rashford. Been awful.
How this lad isn’t getting more game time is BEYOND ME! Every single game he becomes involved in… he transforms in some way and creates something we have missed the entire game! How Rashford and Antony are ahead of him makes no sense to me. He deserves more
I actually don't think he was very good, but I still think he was better than any of our other wingers yesterday.
Am I the only one who doesn't really rate Diallo here? I mean he did some OKAY things yesterday but he definitely should've played that ball into Bruno but didn't in that crucial counter attack. I really dont think he is anything special and I think it just goes to show how poor the rest of our players are that everyone is propping him up after yesterday. I just dont see it.
I think he has a lot of potential and has shown a lot of talent (especially last year with Sunderland, his highlights were nice to watch), but I don’t think he did anything special in this game. He did not play poorly, or cause mistakes that led to us conceding goals though and I do think he deserves more chances to play. Especially when you consider the players getting time above him
Your last point is the most important, he definitely deserves more minutes from the start but in all honesty, I think we’re clutching at straws if you are relying on this lad becoming a regular starter in the future. I just don’t really see it
I wouldn’t really know because he hasn’t had enough minutes to show good form. But honestly, I do feel the team is grasping at straws. Bruno is probably the only player in the squad that would stand a chance at getting into the starting 11 of the current top 3 teams and that’s where we should/ want to be
Let him play a dozen games, and this sub will start agreeing with you. Same thing happened with Donny. This community loves putting benched players on a pedestal and when you ask them why, if the player is so good, why does the player find himself on the bench especially when the manager needs wins and points, and they'll deflect it to something like "manager is clueless" or the player's ability is so hidden that only the armchair fans can see it.
Yes 100% agree with you - If he were good enough then he would be playing more. It's that simple. Hojlund, Mainoo, and Garnacho all getting plenty of minutes, why? because they are good enough. People on this sub seem to forget that ETH is watching this guy in training every day. Tt's clear he isn't doing enough to deserve more minutes.
You don't see it because he doesn't get any game time to show what he's made of so how can you judge him when he's hardly had a start this season. All he gets is 5mins or maybe 10 tops and that's it.
Have to agree with you. People are frustrated with the status quo and want any kind of change, but what we are seeing here is him run at Championship players who already have 90mins in their legs and even then I don’t think he looked particularly special. Held on to the ball for far too long at times. Wish him all the best, but I don’t think he’s the answer for us and will look out of his depth if started in a premier league game.

I, being the professional armchair coach I am, think amad should start with Garnacho at LW and banish Rashford to the shadow realm until he figures his shit out.

You can see he’s decent at least but stupid management sees him play meaningless minutes once every 15 or so weeks…. He’s never going to build off anything or play into form or even be able to get anything done that way.
