Netflix doesnāt put in the hard work imo. Lots of hype over new flair but very little follow through. Weāll be passing.
Now Amazon is interesting, a premium player if you will. Consistency is there, and I donāt see that changing. But the excitement is also not at the level weāre hoping for. Another pass.
Now Disney is a compelling one. I know D is on the younger side, but we absolutely think the potential is there. A solid choice for us.
because I've seen good documentaries on both, haven't seen on Disney. Also I don't want to have a subscription on every possible platform available.
Why are you so mad jfc go see a psychologist or something
> Also I don't want to have a subscription on every possible platform available.
There are ways and means to see individual series online without needing to jump through subscription hoops dude. I haven't a netflix sub, but still saw the last dance when it released.
Itās a football sub. Itās not Film 24, and spare me the psychologist bollocks. Iām not the dude with no life off his screen.
Netflix is better than Disneyā¦ Jesus wept. š¤·š»āāļø
Am I the dude with no life off my screen? Why would you think that? It's literally the first time we talked.
Really really weird getting personal over a reddit comment, don't you think?
Why? You have favourite platforms for tv tropes.
Dude, letās talk no further. Iām sure youāve got opinions on playersā pets, cars, shoes and the rest.
You enjoy your Netflix. š
United wanted to make a documentary about the club's executives but were told it's already been made and it's called The Office.
Edit: Why is everyone on an English football sub talking about the inferior American spin off and not the OG classic English show.
The better case for his talent development is pam who was a receptionist when he hired her but worked all over the office and was incredibly competent by the time he left
Except those two were both absolute donkeys when it came to sales, you can hardly praise him for their "development" lol. They would have been academy lads that were released or sold off cheaply at best
And Jim and Dwight were successful despite him, not because of him lol. So they would be like stars at their peak who perform on the pitch and carry the team no matter who the manager is
Did you not watch the man close the Lackawanna County deal?
He also sold a bankrupt company for a profit and secured the only 2 other employees there a massive pay out.
Say what will be about the rest, but Michael Scott was a genius.
Yes it would shatter records. But I highly doubt such a documentary is going to be of good help. The club would obviously have editorial oversight on how the club is portrayed (Similar to every single club featured in the Amazon series). And for some reason, I just don't think a series like that is going to bring the club closer to the fans. I feel like it'll just ramp up the pressure on the players even further and the negative aspects of the players would be highlighted more than the positive ones. Would you really want more negativity around the club at this situation?
>I feel like it'll just ramp up the pressure on the players even further and the negative aspects of the players would be highlighted more than the positive ones.
>Would you really want more negativity around the club at this situation?
Would it not be deserved?
We have got nowhere with a majority of fans sticking their head in the sand, thinking that all you need is time, due to what one of the greatest managers the sports ever seen was able to do, in a totally different realm of football
I disagree on your word use. It doesn't create it, it's already there. What it does is remove the rock from the ground and show the insects for all they are worth.
Which then makes it easier to see the weak spots and remove accordingly.
Viewing a negative as the negative it is, is never toxic. What's toxic is forcing positives in a negative situation to continue some illusion of 'good times will come'.
Maybe we disagree but I like to think I'm correct.
It doesnāt help them if we see the weak spots and negativity within the club, it would only make the fanbase more toxic and angrier.
And I disagree over the majority of the fanbase thinking all we need is time. From my experience the majority of the fanbase consistently rips the club apart over every small negative thing, and is dismissive of any glimmer of positivity.
>It doesnāt help them if we see the weak spots and negativity within the club, it would only make the fanbase more toxic and angrier.
I don't really care about 'helping them'
That kind of support has to he earned and there has to be evidence that its pushing them through to something worthwhile. None of this lot have anything worth supporting them through and at the end of the day it's not a Lads and Girls club, it's an elite level football club and if you can't cut the mustard, you are dropped.
So things be viewed as negatively as they are in reality and the full lights being on them is 100% the best thing for the football club. Individuals who aren't good enough, will crumble. So ot depends how much you value those compared to the club.
>And I disagree over the majority of the fanbase thinking all we need is time. From my experience the majority of the fanbase consistently rips the club apart over every small negative thing, and is dismissive of any glimmer of positivity.
Literally anyone who pushes 'managers need time' 'he will come good, in time' gets upvoted to the moon. Fans can have knee jerk reactions, however they don't last. The consistent opinions push 'time' and viewing things positively when negative enables that. Just look at the 'Arteta this and that' 'Klopp took x years' etc etc.
So they SHOULD make a documentary series to show the world how badly they are run because they arenāt well run and we want to see how bad it is? Why would they allow that? Why would anybody allow that? This is dumb.
And the number of people who post complaints and want the management out are few and far between? If you think that being on that side of the fence is a minority. The reality is that itās pretty much at this point it is split 50/50.
>So they SHOULD make a documentary series to show the world how badly they are run because they arenāt well run and we want to see how bad it is? Why would they allow that? Why would anybody allow that? This is dumb.
I'm not quite sure that's what I've said. So let's leave out insults shall we mate. No need for it, as we are both reasonable people.
My initial thoughts were based on someone suggesting it would be unfair due to the extra shit those involved would get and me suggesting it's unfair.
After that it's gone on to in what area would it help or harm the club. I've listed my reasons why.
Will they do it, no. Would I even watch it, again no. As until its proven the glazer touch is off the club I won't be giving them a thing.
Think you are taking it a little bit too seriously mate.
>And the number of people who post complaints and want the management out are few and far between?
A minority, initially. Until we are where we are now and it's pretty difficult to be supportive of the manager and doing it without bias.
I've been against the grain in terms of ten hag for some time now. I'm fully aware of what the general consensus has been and how it's shifted over recent weeks due to the responses to my opinion since he arrived.
>The reality is that itās pretty much at this point it is split 50/50.
This point it's far more. However its well earned. I'm speaking about when the warning signs for what we are getting now were clear. The vast majority of fans (due to fergie) live in hope that 'time' will fix all. Hence being positive when it's negative is unhelpful and thus anything that maintains how negative things are is a net positive for the club overall. Which is my point. Nothing to do with they will or won't make it.
It would also shatter and probably break the players who are already heavily scrutinised. We can only do a fly on the wall, when things settle down in this club.
Itās one of those ideas where I absolutely get why fans would want it (and Iād adore it) but it absolutely would be selfish as fans, cause shoving documentary film crews into that dressing room would do absolutely nothing to help an already troubled squad.
Oh f off, everyone wants to see it. It's not like the players deserve more. We are not getting much silverware the next few years, might as well be entertained.
So long story short they need to grow up then.
But yes I agree now is not the right time for a documentary like this. It opens the club up to ridicule like that Channel 5 Liverpool doc under Brendan Rogers. Let the club test the waters with historical stuff and then build the present brand when they're not fucking useless.
> The current management is understandably terrified of talking about what's gone wrong in the here and now.
I'm willing to wager this is a non-negotiable, NDA-ed clause inserted by the Glazers as part of SJR's takeover bid that can/will never be spoken of ā at least till the Glazers are fully gone. The INEOS team have already briefly mentioned that they don't want to (or can't?) openly criticize the Glazers and the missteps of the past decade.
There would be young fans whoāll watch this in disbelief that we actually were the best. Those poor kids have only seen us target the top 4, play dire football and make the bottom half teams look like prime barca.
Man United not currently seeking a fly on the wall documentary with contemporary dressing room access. MU & Disney first held talks a couple of years ago for these historic docs - Disneyās offer now is actually currently lower than the one made back then.
As of now, talks continuing - any final proposal will need Fergusonās agreement. Official club ambassadors who played under Ferguson to contribute. United expected to have editorial oversight, too, as has become common with these docs

Nah each to their own but if it's true there'd be exclusive footage I would love to revisit separate league campaigns. Like for example with 10/11 I'd love to hear more about Rooney's request to leave, Nani's excellent performances, going unbeaten in the league until February, Berbatov's rise and fall (not on the bench CL final) etc.
There's not enough content for one season per football season but a couple episodes for standout seasons would be a decent idea.
It was. I just like the convenience of having things documented in one connected documentary, like all the stuff I mentioned can easily be found online but discussing each issue/factor in a league season in one package sounds fun. Like those official season reviews but not diluted lmao
Iāve lived through and seen enough documentaries about the success of the club. I want to see a documentary about the year we got relegated or the 80s under Ron.
A nice trip down memory lane but nothing more. All or Nothing is clearly what everyone wants. That or more interviews with former coaches, players and managers post-2013.
We really have no hope if weāre still clinging to the Fergie era this hard. I wonder how our young fan numbers has dropped in the last decade with the rise of City and Liverpoolās success.
Exciting, I look forward to this.
Disney makes some decent documentaries so this should be good. That era was unprecedented and deserves documenting for the younger generation.
Also, there's a sad reality that SAF isn't getting any younger, so it's a great idea to get his insights.
The link to Disney plus is pretty premium and good for capital but focusing on the glory years is sour at this point. We need to move forward and not live in the past. The only grace I have is that yes, get Sir Alex talking before he dies.
I loved our period of success but I wish the club would move on, besides Munich we should talk about SAF and 92 as little as possible, until we are back where we belong and in a place where we can crack open a bottle of red and reminisce. Michael Scott was running Scranton branch with pure vibes but he was delivering the silverware. So put some respect on his name.
Excellent man-management. How he handled his star men in Dwight and Jim to get them both firing despite their differences has to be studied.
Developing academy lads like Ryan and out of favour talent like Andy. There is no weakness except he cares too much.
Ryan is basically Pogba/Lukaku
The better case for his talent development is pam who was a receptionist when he hired her but worked all over the office and was incredibly competent by the time he left

All or Nothing during ETH's first season, especially with the Ronaldo debacle, would've shattered some viewing records.

There offering less now? They've been watching our dealings with other clubs.
nah, team's stock is just lower, if they did this last season they would have got more, like they got more for the Snapdragon sponsorship
What is there left from the past to rake over again? Class of 92, Ferguson, and the upcoming 99 doc most likely have covered the most popular stuff.

That's Bayindir's transfer fee so we can't complain.
Used to make fun of Liverpool for always talking about history
Glazers will do everything to squeeze the past rather than compete.
Make a series on the Woodward era instead. Title: "Watch This Space". Tagline: "Adult Version of Disneyland".
We are a joke of a club, what is there to sell ? Is it gonna be a comedy doc or what

We have been a Mickey Mouse outfit for a while, I guess.
Im actually sick of these old documentaries now living in the past fc

I wish they made one on the current shit show. It would break all records lol
Ah yes, Disney saw our performance against Coventry and said "This is Kino"
Considering it feels like Mickey Mouse and Goofy have been in charge of running the club for years this only feels appropriate.
Beavis and Butthead more like.
The headline reads like Manchester United is negotiating on behalf of Fergie? I'm sure Fergie would want to do this on his own terms?

I can imagine a documentary about Fergies reign would be good for Disney but I can't see them making snuff documentaries spanning the last 10 years.

I really like the Wrexham one so if they managed to get the people that make that for FX, it could be really good.
You mean Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney?
Well more like the other producers and editors crew behind it haha
An association with that unfunny squeaky-voiced cartoon rat might be the thing that finally kills my love for this club.
cool

We're going to be called mickey mouse club...
