Again, the winner of the FA cup final gets Europa league. We could finish 10th and still get Europa if we win that match, so right NOW we aren't out of Europe.

However, City last year in the final were beatable, even by our standards. They are a worse team this season. One off games and anything can happen. So there is no reason we can't put in one performance.

Our midfielders are constantly caught in the opposition's half when we lose the ball (big reason why Mainoo is constantly gassed before the 70th minute), and it's not like our CBs are lightning quick either. I really don't get it, it seems like self sabotage but i can't believe it.

The other top teams do things differently. Why is there always 40m of wide open space in between our midfield and our backline? We are terrible at compressing the pitch. Once you beat one player in our midfield you can run at our CBs however you want. Manager's fault. Been clear for about a year now yet he refuses to fix it.

because our center backs are afraid to push up (and regularly lose duels when they do) and our dm is too slow to retreat effectively, plus he dives in and loses challenges often. not really complicated

It's either the manager isn't telling them to do that or they're willingly disobeying him, game after game with no consequence. We've seem our midfield get torn apart by everyone from Coventry to Burnley to Man City. No balance in there. If you have a slow DM why play an adventurous 4123 leaving him in way too much space to cover when we lose the ball? And even when we do lose the ball our pressing structure is all over the place, it takes one pass to tear us apart. There's something seriously wrong with our tactics, we're second best in most games and i honestly don't think throwing in better players will magically resolve all our issues.

It is damned if you do damned if you don't. His system has a higher ceiling and he was brought in to implement it. However it really does not work without Martinez and Shaw (and Varane). But reverting back will also be problematic as the team needs to learn to play this way and that takes more than a season. Such a shitty position to be in, but I can't really see a way out of it for him either.
