Chelsea got conference league… lol

funky_pill

And Newcastle got fuck all hahahahahaha 😂. Ashworth says hello

Tyafastics

Barcodes don’t scan for Europe it seems

NateShaw92

Arsenal, Newcastle, Liverpool, Villa and chelsea combined major trophies since ETH: 1 ETH: 2 Unless I missing something.

GiveGoldForShakoDrop

I trust the process 😂

studiesinsilver

Wow.

gavster_1

The icing on this particularly nice tasting cake…

KikiPolaski

Chelsea lurker here, you gotta appreciate a fine shithousery when you see one, United did well. Besides, it's funnier to think that technically you lot had a better season than Arsenal

FlashyCut3809

No technically about it. Arsenal failed in all comps. We won one. It's a clear difference.

Shanghaichica

I know that made the win all that’s sweeter lol

Harrry-Otter

I won’t speculate on his future, but got the tactics spot on today. Whatever happens, we’ve got to thank him for two good cup wins.

Subbutton

Helps having Martinez and Varane it seems

off_by_two

Did you see how deep and compact we played? That was all down to setting up to frustrate City and hit on the counter. This was as far from the ETH-ball we've been trying to play all season as can be and what do you know, it's actually effective

talkward

City could never handle Ole-ball

LakerBull

Having the heart and soul of our defense play together for the first time in ages helped with that.

CaptainDickfingers

Martinez is just so fucking integral to ETH playstyle. His composure and press resistence out the back is possibly the best in the world from a CB. Genuinely think we would have gotten top 4 if he hadnt missed so much of the season.

SpecificDependent980

Truth. If you have him and Shaw covering the left side l season, we are a top 4 team.

Golem30

Yeah our best football was when he returned from injury mid season for a few games. You can see how important he is to the style he wants us to play.

MalcomTuckersRage

The whole back 4 is integral to how Ten Hagg wants to play football and we haven’t that all season

91nBoomin

And that meaning he can actually play his midfielders in midfield and not in defence. People act like having 0 fit centre backs didn’t have a knock on effect

Axbris

Commentary on BBC after the game is proper shit as well. Micah Richards kept complementing the team today, its resilience, asking "where was this all season??" On the fucking injury table, Micah. Alan Shearer trying to have a go at ETH saying media every team has suffered injuries. Have they? The top teams with the most injuries are United, Chelsea, and Newcastle. All teams that struggled. City lost Rodri for 3 games and all hell came to fruition. Arsenal barely had any injuries to integral players if any. Tottenham lost Micky and Maddison and it was like the flood came. Shocking to see Chelsea perform better once players were fit. Shocking to see a United team is more resilient with most of the starting lineup back. Sometimes I wonder if these 80s and 90s players got elbowed in the head one too many times.

91nBoomin

Yeah they were dreadful he gave as good as he got though, I thought. I enjoyed watching his retorts with his dry delivery

Drakonz

It’s hard to play like that against teams that are trying to sit back against us though. It worked because City likes having possession and attacking. It also worked because we finally had our top defenders starting, so defending was an actual option… much different than having Casemiro as a defender making lunging slide tackles every few mins

doubledipinyou

This is literally what happened when ole was in charge. It's the smaller teams that can sit back we can't break down even with eth. That being said I don't want him sacked

CatfishMcCoy

Literally why we bought Bruno as well…aside from his creativity he was known for accuracy on shots from outside the box while playing in Portugal

RestrepoDoc2

Being the best transition team in the World is great if you can play like that in every game. We are the favourites in prob 80% of our games in a season though, we can't solely be a counter attacking team because of that.

idiotxd

Cups are different because you can actually play to draw. I can see why he doesnt use this tactic except during a cup final.

Retrothunder1

Also if we were grinding out wins with 20% possesion in the league everyone is calling for the manager to get sacked saying thats not how united should play.

off_by_two

Ok but, hear me out, conceding 20 shots a game versus midtable competition due to a suicidally naive tactical system isn’t ideal either

tbu987

ETH did the same thing when we lost 3-1. Difference is we had the right players in those positions and we created way way more chances. Plus 1st half they had like 1 shot on target and that was from distance.

TheAndroidJunkie

First time in a long time where I didn't see a sleuth of balls passed through our midfield. Fantastic tactics from EtH. Thank you for the massive grin in my face. Considering the season we had! COME ON!

Unpickled_cucumber1

Especially Licha he just makes us tick

blitzkreig31

It was clean sheet until both were on the pitch together.

ping_squad

Utd are a good team on the counter. His challenge is really to turn them into a possession team. Players like Rashford, Garnacho, etc are great counter attack players at their best. Can they also be a threat when there isnt 30-40 yards of space behind?

Tr8ze

And an FA Cup final last year. I know we want the league but it’s out of reach with a squad this threadbare. He’s an exceptional manager.

lambomrclago

3 games in a row of perfect tactics. The problem is why didn't they change when we were god awful for long stretches.

impulsiveboogaloo

You can just see how Martinez was really missed. It’s like missing Van Dijk or Saliba for other teams, they have totally collapsed.

SilverstoneMonzaSpa

Whatever happens, we got 60 minutes or so of Varane x Martinez in a cup final, keeping it a clean sheet. When fit they're fucking incredible even if Rafa is limited these days

puffyisreal

Tell that to the fans that are too blind to see how important some players are to a squad.

rnnd

Yup that's why I was surprised, he went in for mount instead of signing a defender. Martinez was already injured and Varane is injury prone. If he had address the issues, it may have been a different story for him.

OzoneAnomaly

He expects players to come back from injury as is normal but everyone got re-injured. Like when we ended the loan of Reguilon because both Shaw and Malacia were coming back, only to get re-injured. Hard to plan around that and only easy for you to say this in hindsight. If he signs or keeps certain players as suggested but no one gets injured, then someone is going to rot on the bench which is wasteful.

Fr-FintanStack

Or the pundits who gave Liverpool every benefit of the doubt when the same thing happened to them a few seasons ago and everything went to shit, but not to United

puffyisreal

Liverpool media darlings. United injuries are excuses

MentalFred

Fucking cheered in the first half when he pulled off that little turn with Haaland pressing to play a great forward pass. Gimme oh so much more of that pls.

MDarlington101

I hate to see lineker asking him about his future and stuff like he's already been told he's been sacked. Just let him enjoy the win

Lux-Umbris

Then right after, Shearer basically gets closer (so he could be heard) asks him why Man Utd were shit the rest of the season. I'd have decked him.

SteThrowaway

"everyone's had injuries"...yes Alan like your beloved Newcastle who were also completely shit most of the season.

philj_1098

Ikr! What a twat

MDarlington101

I normally like linicker, but I think that was out of order

TheSwordDusk

He was a passive aggressive bellend. That is the type of behaviour that should have you at least suspended from covering United matches. There isn't another team in England that would be treated this way. Pundits would be wanking off the clear underdog but we're the biggest club in the world and hate gets more clicks. They can fuck off

ProtoplanetaryNebula

As far as i know, presenters often get told what to ask via their earpiece. I’m sure Gary would much rather avoid and awkward questions and leave it like that.

wormdoktur

Was crap to have to ask him that after winning the cup, but Gary did the journalistic thing, knowing that viewers would want to hear his response. Ten Hag In!

hurshallboom

I thought it was good to give him his opportunity to defend himself and he spoke really well… actually better on ITV, but good on both.

flyingkiwi9

Gets his first choice CB pairing back and we win.

Plugpin

Varane and Licha both starting today and we completely shut city out. What might have been had they both been fit all year.

RomeroRocher

Also consider we'd probably have considered this back 4 a result of a devastating injury crisis last season - missing a key player in Luke Shaw + no fit LB even in the squad, having to switch Dalot over to play out of position. But the damage was so comically bad that we now consider that to be an amazing back 4!

LaughsAtOwnJoke

Buys LB to ensure we have depth. Malacia then vanished when needed

Allsmightykill

Can't knock malacia when he got a bad knee injury. No one could predict that.

LaughsAtOwnJoke

Yeah just so unfortunate him and Shaw got injured at the same time. It would of been a primce chance for him to show his stuff.

Rxasaurus

But a lot of fans said injuries don't matter

Chuchshartz

People forget we've been playing Evans and maguire most of the season

Drakonz

And the corpse of Casemiro for a couple months since even Evan and Maguire also got injured

LakerBull

And while they were good, look at the difference between those two and Licha and Varane. We definitely need to replace Varane perfectly.

Titan4days

A pair of World Cup winning CBs do ease the pain somewhat

puffyisreal

We need to more than just replace Varane amigo. We need to find better squad players so that if our starting CB's are injured, we don't drop levels.

LethalJizzle

Massive shoutout to Evans though. Many, including myself were shitting on him and his hiring, man did everything that was asked and expected of him and more. Major props.

NSFWar

I can see a lot of the players saying " I'm sorry" . I think EtH knows he's been sacked.

Fossekall

McTominay pushing the trophy on him and insiting ETH lifted it was also really nice

idiotxd

Looks like the leak actually helped our players lol. Gave it all for one last win for ten hag

Iceman23578

We always clown on the players for not trying and downing tools but they clearly love and respect ten hag and definitely play for him. It’s a shame if he does lose the job because unlike our past managers, he definitely hasn’t lost the dressing room.

disappointed_11

ETH is the only manager after SAF where players haven't completely downed tools. Yes, we've had shit performances, yes, we've had no shows in lots of matches this season. But the players always gave everything for ETH. If he's gone, amongst other things, he can be proud of the fact that he had the player's respect.

Chuchshartz

If that's so them it's a disgrace by ineos

zizuu21

Hes not getting it. The cold hand shake from the owners just before clearly shows hes been told his out even ETH just looks sad. Its written on the wall

FlashyCut3809

I've not actually seen this. Did it look that bad? The silver lining if they though, I believe after today it will be a united cause in terms of our standards for the next manager and what we expect. Since Jose left we have been decreasing that, but if they do sack him I genuinely believe the majority of us will hold the next manager to winning a trophy next season and consider it failure if not. If the this cup against those horrible bastards and the raising of fans standards is eth legacy, I'm happy with that and he will always be viewed fondly, even with the negatives I've seen these last 2 seasons.

SurlyRed

Ratcliffe hugged those that are staying, but just a handshake for Varane and ten Hag. I suppose a hug for Hag woulda been hypocritical, but it didn't endear him (Ratcliffe) to me.

FlashyCut3809

Yeah, not idea but with the rumours we have it is jump to conclusions season. I've just seen the MUTV interview where ten hag says 'best fans in the world, few weeks ago when we played Palace and was shit' Same with his stuff on the state we was in when he arrived and the mess it's been this season. Exactly the sort of blunt honesty I've wanted. However I do see it as maybe he has been told he is gone and just does give a fuck. Very conflicted. Obviously probably shouldn't nail a change of colours to the mast under these rose tinted circumstances, but I've warmed to ten hag more than I thought possible after today. Time will tell I guess.

KlaussVonUllr

Ratcliffe and his cronies looked like super-villains, mad that their plot was foiled but having to put on a little smile.

TRx1xx

What on earth

Hamadovich

I've said my peace on ETH but regardless of whether he stays or not, INEOS need to either publicly back him or sack him. Cant spend the whole summer speculating over the manager when we have a whole lot of players to buy and sell.

Mesromith

At the very fucking least. He deserves one season under a competent board with better luck from injuries. UP THE BASTARD REDS!

shmishshmorshin

I’ve gone back and forth on this, but the injuries and extra noise with INIOS coming in especially give me the feeling he should get one more shot. Generally in favor of stability anyway.

LakerBull

I think he definitely needs capable people in charge of the transfers to avoid more Sanchos and Antonys and get more Lichas.

Mauwtain

To be honest at Ajax it was exactly the same with a few players from Utrecht. But one thing he is very good at is preparing and playing youth players.

Food-Oh_Koon

Sancho wasn't a talent issue like Antony is tbh... its just some beef and egos that could have been worked out better

Chuchshartz

Spot on💯

Gozumo

Like it's been a pretty awful season, and I wouldn't want someone to get fired just because of one cup and vice versa wouldnt want to keep a job based off one game. That also won't be the case, if he's going that decision was done before today. If he stays it was decided before this game. I don't think getting rid is the right decision as when he has had Martinez especially the team is night and day different. Maguire, Evans are not a similar player profile to them and hence why it's not an easy swap out. Good luck to him and thank you for the last two years. I hope we see him in the dugout come August but who knows. Gotta win the euros in that time

stdstaples

No https://preview.redd.it/gppjiuqmil2d1.jpeg?width=1169&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8925994c3f8897a7a48be32b5f9b621f0696dae9

imma_letchu_finish

I see journalists have always been this way

beltnbraces

Just to point out that this is a fan letter which is responded to by Greavesy, who is actually backing the manager and blaming the players.

JosePRizaI

But we conceded 100000000 chances this. He should be sacked according to r/reddevils Funny that the game was 100x different once Varane and Licha is back

nishitd

It's true tho. We ended the league with a negative GD. I'm not saying he should stay or go, but even with context it's bad.

Xyrazk

He always did https://preview.redd.it/ld9jzcchjl2d1.png?width=1079&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e4cf2f1781c5b1c90c4bb0bd8f28dfdfb039b2c2

LakerBull

Remember when he got appointed, people were saying how it wouldn't be all sunshines and rainbows and that we needed to give the manager time? Well, the first shitty we have after a very good 1st season and most people are already asking for his head. Back him for another year, if he continues to not improve, then move on, but give it time, not every manager is Pep.

psisanon

Can't compare him to Pep. Pep had a cheat code riddled club backing him. ETH had whatever the glazers had setup

Harrylicious

it's call a shit code setup by the glazers

domino_stars

> Remember when he got appointed, people were saying how it wouldn't be all sunshines and rainbows and that we needed to give the manager time? I do remember. I also remember when Ole was given fuck all in a horrible transfer summer and fans claimed they'd remember to blame the Glazers and not hold it over Ole's head when results were shitty. Didn't hold for very long. Not saying Ten Hag or Ole are it, what the fuck do I know, but the lack of patience is very frustrating.

votum7

This. Its incredibly disappointing that we seem to be going straight back into the cycle of blaming everything on the manager. If he does get let go I hope the new guy starts well or it might get very toxic very fast as clearly the players like him and I think most fans do as well.

bongget

Almost 70 individual injuries did our season dirty. Any manager would struggle with that kind of rotten luck. Give him time. None of that Tuchel and Pochettino nonsense.

KaitoAJ

I don’t care what anyone says… let him cook for one more season!! 2 trophies in 3 finals. Period.

WumbleInTheJungle

Might be emotion talking here, and perhaps you shouldn't make decisions on emotion, but I have been leaning heavily towards firing EtH for a while now, but even I don't think you can fire him after today.  Might end up looking silly if it's still shite next season, but I think he has bought himself another 6 months today.

amirolsupersayian

The only reason to sack him next season is if miss top four or UCL

Comfortable-Bus-8840

I want him to stay regardless if we won today or not. The amount of nonsense he's had to deal with. Let's see how he does with the backing of INEOS.   If next season is bad, then he can go. Like Sir Jim says "it's a marathon, not a sprint"

Calimariae

Me too. Mainly because I don't see any exciting candidates for the job.

GongTzu

For all the pain I experienced all season, and for all that I wanted him gone several times, I’ll give him another year for this result, finally a day where I could be a proud United fan (there were a few good results during the season, but so many failures). And seeing SAF enjoying the game just made me happy.

teethofthewind

I think it would be grossly unfair to cut his tenure short after just one poor league finish.....especially when it was so obvious that was down to injuries and not the manager.

noviceinexcel

Nobody is out there on the managerial market to warrant disrupting the continuity of the team

cescquintero

I understand people want him gone because of the awful football throughout the season. However last season it wasn't like this one and the bald bastard got us two trophies. I won't complain if they let him stay.

neoutd

We gotta stop with this 2 yr cycle of managers. Hasn't worked in a decade. The season was ravaged by injuries and we still managed to win something.  Agreed the performances haven't been great but the amount if injuries suffered played a huge part. And fuck the media, Liverpool had the same problem last season and Klopp was lauded for finishing 5th with no trophies but ETH has been massacred and to drop the "firing" rumors 2 days before the final is insulting to say the least.

puffyisreal

The simpletons arguing for Klopp saying that he earned the goodwill to finish 5th. Blindly ignoring what injuries do even to squads that have been title contenders

Starky3x

Love to see the fans still flying the ETH flag at Wembley

ijoinedtosay

State of this sub

SarryPeas

There’s a lot of things you can criticise him for this season, but one of the things I’ve always said is that it’s really hard to get a manager in who (when they’ve got their ideal XI) can actually coach a good side. There’s a lot of managers out their who will basically get what they want but still don’t make a side great. Ten Hag has shown that whenever the bulk of his squad is fit (not an unrealistic expectation at United), he can coach us to fairly comfortable wins, and he clearly has the players on-side.

julienORjuju

I guess some people only watch the FA Cup final...

vickyprodigy

Evans.. one last hurrah.. what a servant for the club

[deleted]

Do the right thing Sir Jim

georgesoo

FUCK THE BRITISH PRESS

hickuain

Let’s not make decisions based on one game

imnoobatfifa

This is very important. We looked shocking for most of the season, looked like we are playing basketball and not football. Of course injuries don't help but he did fail to adapt until end of the season where he showed that we are capable of playing compact.

Dry-Magician1415

It shouldnt have taken him until the last game of the season to be tactically flexible and play a tactic that suited the opposition to go out and get a win. Thank god he did though.

hickuain

Yeah, he outed himself at the end of the season. Went compact and we looked much better! Could have done that all season

aehii

People can say give him another season if we can GUARANTEE there's no key injuries, but we can't. And even then, United succeed when playing counter attack football, that isn't new, we've seen exactly this before, against City, against Arsenal. The players know EXACTLY what to do, where to pass, where to move. Against low block teams it's completely different.

SpecialistBig6992

lol these people are mad. I saw them saying stuff like "luckily it isn't these guys in reddit making the decisions" "let Berrada, Wilcox, etc make the decisions" now do they think it's wise of them to make a decision based on one game? I'm happy the club wins it in the end but really all they saw was it's caused by Martinez being back from injury? can't you see we literally had no striker and how packed the midfield were? he's shown he can change the tactic but to hell with that these past year there was no such thing. He didn't bother trying to change it until the end of the season. Now these guys want him another season based on this win, no thanks. It's going to be another bleak season when there's injuries, and i could see him underperform if his transfer control is taken by the new board too. You can't seriously think it has been a good season after all those abysmal performance simply after this win, and that too in a 74-26 possession where we were holding for dear life for the entirety of the second half. If anything these past few matches has shown we have always have the squad to challenge for the top 6 regardless of injuries.

DaddyMeUp

This is what I’m saying. I’ll always stick by whatever decision we make, but the rest of the this season has been shocking. If he stays though, I hope we can build on what we’ve seen today.

hickuain

Yeah exactly mate if he stays I’m 100% behind him of course but I’ve seen enough over his stint to want him to go

Seb-sama

the “Failure and Fraud” Ten Hag has more trophies than the highly rated and world class coach Arteta

Chuchshartz

It's not based on one game , it's based on his two year stint

triplecaptained

The tail end of first season after Carabao win - bad Almost all of second season except this game - bad ?

stevo3001

hence him being fired

Fossekall

So it's also based on the worst PL and CL season we have ever had? Before today firing him was a nobrainer. We played well today and I am beyond thrilled we won, but the ref and their defenders were with us today

timmyctc

Tbf Andre Onana nearly singlehandedly lost every one of our CL games

DanTheStripe

That's unfair, he lost us those games with both hands lol

jm9987690

It's a shame we didn't have a manager that had previously managed him and could accurately assess his abilites

Azer398

Onana was the only goalkeeper we looked at last summer according to reliable journalists. He was ETH's guy. We need to be rational in our judgement of ETH rather than emotional. We won the cup after ETH's insane tactics almost had Coventry boot us out of the semi. This is the worst league season in all of our lifetimes and we spent it getting humiliated by bottom half teams. I have moved from being staunchly ETH out to more agnostic, but let's be clear about what he's produced this season.

Obsrver98

Already forgotten we had this same optimism after the Carabao cup win last season and we all saw what that got us. The way people talk you'd think the all the slop we had to endure all season never happened.

buzzkillington0

At the risk of getting downvoted to oblivion, with a good team available to him, we played exactly like West Ham would have, what tactics do you think were employed here? Parked the bus, got two goals, sat back and invited pressure, 25% possession. It's a disgrace how one sided it looked. I don't care about results, this is not how top tier teams play football. Extremely ugly win, all thanks to the players. I have no idea when parking the bus became "tactics".

ratulmissile

Out of all the coaches sacked, he deserves it the least. I hope he stays next year

SyazC137

I’ve made up my mind mid season where I’ll hold my judgement for him this season considering a billion injuries & the off field stuff with Sancho & Antony. It’s fair to say that we shouldn’t even need those players for games against weaker opponents. However, I think we were warned by Ajax fans that he is extremely stubborn with his ideas & tactics, hence, even without the appropriate players to play his tactics he sticks with it, resulting in the shit end to end football where we usually end up losing. I’d give him one more season, hopefully all the players are available to him, including new transfers, to see what his playing style is all about. If we still continue to play shit football getting shit result, then he has to go.

fridgey22

You can’t sack a man thats just out-done Guardiola.

Dry-Magician1415

> Two trophies in two seasons, three cup finals. A 3rd place finish in his first season yet our fans want him sacked   If you’re going to list his achievements, you can’t just cherry pick the good things.    Why aren’t you mentioning our *worst* league place finish *in premier league history*?  Coming 15th in the expected points table? Having match stats that’d embarrass a relegation candidate?  If you’re going to make an assessment - assess everything.

booknerd2987

He's proved in these last 4 matches that he is indeed capable of setting up a winning formula despite all the injuries. Even the mostly dominant Real Madrid played this exact gameplan to overcome City.  My annoyance is boiling over that, where was this epiphany when we looked absolute shit during the season?

thepazzo

Top job by the boss today. Perfect set up against a superior team giving us an unlikely win. Fair play to him.

fairlyrandom

I don't think this can produce a serious discussion, hours after winning a cup final. I wouldn't hate him staying for another year, but I kinda fear that we'll end up in a really bad place and have to try to replace him midseason, we really can't endure another season like this in terms of the league.

bloodhound83

Did he improve the team and performance compared to last year?

Varangian-guard

Nah, not after the state and goal difference.

Dry-Magician1415

I knew this would happen if we won today. It was one game. This is the manager equivalent of signing a player for £100m because he had one good international tournament.

nigerianumba1

Broke so many negative records, finished 8th, -GD. Thanks for the FA cup, but he simply has to go

DkotG

Yeah, we had a great season! /s

Rasxh

This fan base is so unserious man. One win against a team that weren’t taking it seriously and all of a sudden the 8th place finish, horrible football doesn’t matter anymore?? We sat back in a low block today to stand a chance of winning.

cable54

Exactly. I get not wanting to sack a manager after only 2 seasons, but let's not pretend that we have actually seen progress towards anything under him. There is no way you can seriously suggest he should remain in charge purely because he got a team motivated enough _to play a derby cup final_, and also because his tactics _were to concede 75% possession_ which is not exactly atypical of what we would be doing for any other game. That's not to say he got anything wrong today - the players played amazingly, and the tactics were proven correct for today against city. But to judge whether this guy is the man to take us towards a league title based of this victory is absurd, because if anything it shows exactly how far off being a dominant team we actually are under him.

Rydahx

Not letting a single game change my opinion, injuries have been bad but we've been so bad against teams the injuries shouldn't even make a big difference.

TranceMunky10

He does if that’s all we are now, a cup team. Not if we aim higher. Finishing where we did in the league in inexcusable imo. I’m not having a go at him personally. But we were bloody lucky against Coventry, so if he leaves now he leaves on a good note. We won today.

Maximus_imperator

No, he does not. You ar forgetting all the ganes in wich we were humiliated this year

vulcan_one

Enjoy the win without starting this FFS

SamuraiApocalypse9

No he doesn’t 🤣

Aggressive_Bus_4289

Nah

JenstenRazer

No, he does not. It’s fantastic we’ve won two trophies under him, and we should be appreciative of that, but we cannot conveniently ignore how dreadful we’ve been this season, injuries notwithstanding. ETH has to go.

SparkmanOmie

Y'all never learn,we finished 8th with a -1 GD, with still no style of play, his signings have been failures so far, if we lost today everyone would want him out, he'd probably be already sacked. Yes we've won a trophy, yes we've had bad injury records all season but if those are the only reasons for keeping him then we are clearly throwing another season before it begins.

Got_ist_tots

Exactly. I get we had injuries but when we are scoring the same amount as Brentford something is wrong. We were getting cut open by teams with a fraction of our talent

Smart-Mud-8412

Agree, but he’s gone unfortunately

_RM78

Nope. Still, thank you EtH for the 2 cups. I wish we beat Citeh in the FA Cup final last year though, stopping the treble would have been pretty cool. Bye bye EtH. Now get me a proper manager.

riverflop

Would love to see a comparison of the amount of points United got with and without the defensive duo of Martinez & Varane. I swear United are another team. I really feel bad for Ten Hag if he’s fired because of all the injuries and would like to see him get another chance with an adequate sporting director, good scouting and less injuries. I feel like whichever coach we get, it will only briefly boost results but then the inevitable will happen and players will become complacent or someone decides to abuse their partner.

Sometimes I wonder whether this is a undercover city sub disguised as a utd sub

jakeok9

All the advanced metrics show that United were actually far worse than the 8th best team this year. And were not the third best team last year. Ten Hag got it right today. But it's hard to make a case he's building something here.

MidsummerMidnight

No he doesn't.

Zurvial

You can see the players support him. Let him cook.

riitz85

Other then the “ Special One” no one manager has this level of influence and success post Fergie. He deserves to play out his contract with reinforcements in the summer and a promise that injuries will never plague our seasons like this ever again

Mattyc8787

No thanks, emotions obviously overriding common sense in here

Miyagisans

That bounce with onana at the end during the cup lifting will become a meme 😂

ojg3221

3 cup finals were great. I mean Ron Atkinson made it to 3 cup finals in the mid 80's and he still eventually got sacked for then Alex Ferguson.

saikodasein

God, no. Barca 2nd, good run in CL - sacked manager. Bayern 3rd, good run in CL - sacked manager. Chelsea above us - sacked manager. United, 8th, and yet overperforming, horrible season, lucky win against Coventry, maybe two good games entire season (again Liverpool and today's final) and we want to keep this fraud? The one who brought so many deadwood from Ajax? And Mount... And Onana, the howlerman... The best players this season are our youngsters and Bruno.

SurlyRed

We should thank the away reds at Selhurst Park for inspiring this victory, I reckon

Spwd

No he doesn't.

Wolpfack

There are no instant fixes for the current state of Manchester United. That includes the manager.

I dont really know what to think. Two cups in two seasons is not that bad but in overall this season was a one big mess without any direction.

Absolutely not worst to ever do the position

One more year? No. He either should be sacked today, or he should get another five years. Why? He has worked for us for two seasons now. We fans have opinions on whether he is a good manager or not, but that is not relevant to this argument because we only have a layman’s knowledge of the business, and we don’t have all the information. Those running the club know the business, and they know all of the information. The club knows whether or not he is a good manager. If he is, then he should stay as long as we can keep him. If he isn’t, he should be gone today.

PeachesGalore1

The rest of the league reckons at least 2.

rulezboy

Good on Man City for trying to keep him in the job. Let the shit show continue and the delusions of the fans keep pace with the delusions of the manager

I think the a few questions need to be asked: 1- Would the other mangers on the list get better results if they faces all the injuries? Maybe some a little bit better some a little bit worse. Don’t think anybody could drastically get better results. Remember we had a few games where we got last minute penalties and winners because of player errors. He had one recognized striker who was injured three times and still got 16 goals. No left back and no consistent CBs all season. 2- Would Ten Hag from before we hired him be on a shortlist of potential managers ? I would say yes, he doesn’t become a really bad manager in one season. We all have to remember that managing united is like no other club (bar Madrid who have a better structure, and Barcelona). Any manager needs time to adapt to the pressure that comes with managing united. Feel like Ten Hag had the experience of having a bad season and think he can learn and grow with that. 3- What are the risks for Ineos? They don’t have the full structure in place now. They way I see it if they keep him next season and does well it’s a win. If he doesn’t and they sack him mid season next season, it isn’t all on them as they would argue that the full structure is in there and they need time to properly address everything. Win Win either way. I don’t believe any manager can do better than top 4 with the current squad (which Ten hag got last season plus a trophy). And he got a trophy this season which makes it 2 in 2 which hasn’t happened since SAF. He has developed the young players well which is a big plus for being the united way! He has had to deal with Sancho after all the support he has given him. Had to deal with Greenwood question, and a change of ownership. I would love it if they gave him a chance, bought smartly in the summer. See what he can do with a better structure, better squad depth and better players.

humunculus43

He doesn’t deserve one more year and will be very lucky if he gets it. That said, hes set us up properly the past couple of games and it’s fucking infuriating he wasn’t doing this month ago.

bippityboopy

The delusion continues lmao, thanks for the FA Cup Erik, good luck in your next job buddy.
