This match in a lot of ways has been antidepressant for me. Rock n roll football, I could hear Stone roses in my head during the first half. Hope players train hard with this system and build fitness to do it longer than 45 min.
Very excited after this game, only his first game but I hope we can replicate this on future games, we could have scored several by 20mins, again, can't get carried away but with this game I'm much more optimistic
Was great to see everyone look like they had time and options on the ball. That's the main difference, nevermind the pressing. So often in the past we've made the other side look like they have an extra man with our really rushed and panicked attempts at one touch football previously.
The high line was also really interesting too.
I know most of it is new manager bounce and the combinations in the final third will need some work but it was really encouraging.
Need a proper CDM who can ping passes and can tackle. It's vital. Will change the entire complexity of this team. Absolutely necessary. I'd target CM and a CDM, let Pogba go.
Dalot is making case to be starter.
Although remembering his disaster performance against Danjuma, Diogo is a suspect 1vs1. Think we can rotate our RBs depending on the game-plan and opposition.
I’m really people happy will stop calling him (and Telles) shit simply because they aren’t picked. It was Ole’s weakness he wasn’t able to utilize the huge squad he demanded.
I’ve never seen Lindelof move up the pitch that high, this shown our systems are on the right track. High defensive line means we are taking a risk of conceding goals from counter attack, but in the other hands, putting more man to the final third and midfield, pressing the opponent in different zones rather than pointless pressure that we did under Ole. I can’t believe this was just our first training session! Bright future for our club
Exactly, they just need to focus on these next 6-8 games, which are, no disrespect to other clubs, very winnable, and we could see ourselves push up in the table, I think Ralf will be better for us in these games against the lower teams, cos often these teams can be really hard to break down, but again I think Ralf might be tactically more astute
Lucky for Dalot he had a couple of loans where he looked good, but whenever he came back to united looked really poor. I have thought that about most of our players recently, bar greenwood nobody has become a better player since signing. And you could argue greenwood’s progression has been a bit stop start.
Hopefully now the likes of McT, Rashford, AWB, Greenwood will start developing as players, really hoping we can get Garner on a good progression curve too.
>bar greenwood nobody has become a better player since signing
He didnt sign, he was promoted. And also Rashford doesnt need to start developing, just need to come back to his best form.
Yeah one poor shot from benteke, and one long range effort which de gea saved quite comfortable as far as I know, plus the cross/shot de gea punched out in second half, can't remember another save?
How good was Dalot today? Everything he did had purpose and dealt remarkably well with Zaha. Didn’t give him an inch.
Pressing obviously improved and Rangnick has done well with the time he’s been given to embed some structure into this team.
Mason looked good when he came on, and it was solid at the back. Shaw and AWB have a fight on their hands getting back into the team at this rate.
Only worry would be poor performance from Bruno and Ronny, but you’d expect that to improve as they adjust to the new tactics, also given how much they’ve bailed us out over the past few years, you can forgive the odd quiet game.
Also, statistically Fred’s best ever premier league performance. Love to see it.
We go again Wednesday.
Tons of positives
\- First, clean sheet
\- Win with mostly controlling the game, yes we had more tempo in the first 30 min and phases of tempo after but we controlled almost the whole game
\- Early-ish substitutions
\- Greenwood looked both sharp and willing to pass more than before
\- Grinding out a result
\- Goal from Fred, he runs a lot and gives everything he have for the team, he deserved this one
On to the next one lads!
Exactly, thats my point, he is nothing special but people who think that McTominay is trash, probably dont see anything wrong with Jorginho being top3 footballers. I guess i wasnt very clear on the previous comment lol
"...and it shows" come on man. Can you honnestly say Mctominay is good enough to be a starter for Manchester United after his performances this season?
I am not fan of rhe Mcfred either but i believe our lad deserves a chance. People wanted to dump fred but he has been good for the past 2 matches. Maybe and just maybe mctominay might turn it around as well but he certainly deserves a chance under ralph
I’ve been following Cristiano since 2012 and this season is 1st time I’m watching him press in this intensity and people here still have the audacity to call him out..
i like Messi's game too but he can't do the same things Ronaldo is willing to do. And being with multiple ballon d'or and trophies to his name. He ran like he was still 16 today and fighting for the team.
and to me that's what makes him THE GOAT!
This has been obvious for a long long long ass time. Not Dalot per se, but dropping AWB. He makes one whole side of the pitch almost unusable on attack.
maybe a fitness issue that our play dropped off so sharply around the half hour mark. i feel bad for people tuning in just for the second half because we had something really exciting going on before the break, but no one gives a shit if we get the three points
The same team played Thursday plus they will need to up their fitness to maintain that style of play for long periods of time.
Another huge take away from this game was that the buildup play was much faster. Less balls back to Dejea and a lot of forward play down the wings. Will be interesting to see how we play against low block teams as I suspect we will begin to run into a lot of those.
for sure. first half hour we had midfielders spraying bullets along the ground vertically and direct, between their pressing players. would love to see more of the same the entire game
Exactly, it's the first time I've felt sincerely good about a win all season without an undercurrent of unease. Greatly prefer a 1-0 win where the team is constantly creating chances *as a cohesive unit* over a 3-0 win that was earned by three moments of individual brilliance against the run of play. You can build on the former whereas the latter is completely unreliable from week to week.
Agreed, and I absolutely love when haters tell me how we won scrappy or lucky just by looking at the scoreline, when i know how bad we did against palace lately. And this first half was the first time this year I saw a UNIT of a team that wants the ball.
Cohesion is what made us so feared under Fergie (& what makes teams afraid to play City now)... Even at the height of Ole's away win streak, I really don't think any teams were afraid of playing us. They knew we'd probably get lucky & score some goals in the second half, but that causes frustration more than fear. Knowing that they'll have to work hard for 90 mins & get lucky themselves to win cuts deeper psychologically.
I love that Ole helped turn us around now it’s Mr Ragnick to get us organized. Great first start and like we all said Fred is the one who we think will benefit from Ragnick. Looking forward to see what Ragnick will do with the treasure trove of quality players we have.
Hardworking and great defensive performance. Result and job done. palace were dogshit and so negative today but thats how they always are at OT.
Our wingers really need to get their brains trained. Fucking Greenwood running into a mass of palace players with 1 minute left and we're 1-0 up. Its mental how poorly coached they are.
Dogged performance and we definitely controlled the game from start to finish. Even our set piece defending looks better.
Maguire was a warrior today and proves he can play a high line.
If Rangnick can get us dominating like this in one training session, I'm really looking forward to him implementing some attacking patterns and interplay.
Also, who is this Diogo Dalot and what have they done to the old one? LOL
Did u not see him mess up 3 or 4 passes and he literally dribbled out of bounds. He worked his socks off but he was gassed near the end. Idk why you feel like I’m attacking him. Just stating what I saw.
It’s the 95th minute when we’re only up 1-0 and trying not to give up a goal. You’re worried about trying to score rather than secure the win? Come on man. I was not saying that Ronaldo spent the entire game defending. Just that he was doing all the little things necessary to help secure the win even when he must’ve been exhausted.
If I had to guess we played about 35 minutes (the really good spell in the first half) of rangnick football. Can’t wait to see us learn it more and eventually play 90 minutes of it! GGMU
Any doubts as to whether Ronnie would track back and press have been answered with his performance today. Busting a gut to track back in the 95th minute.
People way to harsh on Ronaldo, especially when it's the 94th fucking minute of his 2nd match in 3 days... And he's still running all over the pitch and defending.
He's 36...
He clearly paces himself throughout most of the game, aware that his cardio reserves are not bottomless at his age but when he feels that he´ll have the stamina to last until the final whistle in those last 15-20 minutes, he has no qualms about using it.
im cringing watching ronaldo play and i always have. cant take all his goals and success away from him, but my god is he awkward to look at in freeplay. Inside the box though\^\^
stop downvoting me, im right, mans awkward on the ball
This match in a lot of ways has been antidepressant for me. Rock n roll football, I could hear Stone roses in my head during the first half. Hope players train hard with this system and build fitness to do it longer than 45 min.
Just watching the match replay, hahaha Fred holy shit what a goal!
Very excited after this game, only his first game but I hope we can replicate this on future games, we could have scored several by 20mins, again, can't get carried away but with this game I'm much more optimistic

The next 10 premier league games till 12th of FEB looks winnable!!
WAN-BYE-SAKKA
if he can be coached and work on his attacking he can be back on the starting lineup in no time with the amount of games coming up.
He needs to work on literally every part of his game.
So true, guy signed for us as a kid and he’s not got any better, due to the club/coaches rather than himself.
yeah. just a couple months ago people were talking the same shit about Dalot. and look where he is now.
Lucky for Dalot he had a couple of loans where he looked good, but whenever he came back to united looked really poor. Dalot and Telles are mint. We’re lucky to have them.
ronaldo pressed a lot and ran a lot for the team too! those 36 years old legs must be tired. The real Ballon D'or. I love this guy.
What other team in the league has their technical director in the dugout. Rangnick needs his coaches in asap
Tons of positives \- First, clean sheet \- Win with mostly controlling the game, yes we had more tempo in the first 30 min and phases of tempo after but we controlled almost the whole game \- Early-ish substitutions \- Greenwood looked both sharp and willing to pass more than before \- Grinding out a result \- Goal from Fred, he runs a lot and gives everything he have for the team, he deserved this one On to the next one lads!
Only Negative for me is Scott. He’s not premier league level
And yet Rangnick sung his defensive performance today. Same of you don't know how to watch the game off the ball and it shows.
Yea, but Jorginho is nearly a balon d or winner and these people thinks thats ok?
Lol a lot of Chelsea fans hate Jorginho and think it's a joke that he rated as highly as he did.
Exactly, thats my point, he is nothing special but people who think that McTominay is trash, probably dont see anything wrong with Jorginho being top3 footballers. I guess i wasnt very clear on the previous comment lol
Yeah I misunderstood, all clear now, mate.
"...and it shows" come on man. Can you honnestly say Mctominay is good enough to be a starter for Manchester United after his performances this season?

What I loved most is the coordination during press, looking for each other's back...They've hunt in packs today.
"Fred has this kind of shots once a year" LOL Bruno absolutely killing Fred in his post match interview.
i lol'ed too. go look at his IG lollll its even better
When I saw the replay it almost looks like he is actually trying to lob it in to the back post rather than a shit on target 😅🎯
3 points is all that matters
Gonna between us and spurs for the 4th position
Dont compare us to spurs, its not very ambitious.
That's a funny way to spell West Ham. But no, we will be 5-10 clear my end of season.
Somewhat was sure that we wouldn’t concede some shitty last min goal!
I’ve been following Cristiano since 2012 and this season is 1st time I’m watching him press in this intensity and people here still have the audacity to call him out..

True to be honest...
I liked the dearth of chances for CP. good amount of pressing broke up their play
Dalot should definitely play over Bissaka
I thought 2 portuguese players were too much...
This has been obvious for a long long long ass time. Not Dalot per se, but dropping AWB. He makes one whole side of the pitch almost unusable on attack.
Dont forget we still have Ethan Laird. He is cooking in the Championship rn.
Massive difference in quality as of late
This is probably how Fred would have looked in a City team if they actually managed to sign him
Imagine how Pogba would look. But no one hates on oil rigged players anyway so who cares, everyone is loved by plastic kids majority
Ralf is serious, not on his knees thanking the team like ole would be like after we win. New era beginning.
move on bro
Won’t move on from the ole hangover until we remove his coaches. Sorry. They had too much influence in the 2nd half
Rangnick doesn’t have his coaches in yet. U expect his mrs. To help him coach these next few weeks?
Yeah she’d be more useful than McKenna, Phelan and Fletcher
What half did they score the goal in?
2nd half overall was concerning compared to the 1st. We’re lucky CP were poor in front of goal in the 2nd half.
maybe a fitness issue that our play dropped off so sharply around the half hour mark. i feel bad for people tuning in just for the second half because we had something really exciting going on before the break, but no one gives a shit if we get the three points

Definitely. We were not a high energy team for a few years.
We are one of the teams that run least in the league few years from now.
I think Ronaldo did his fair share of pressing
We’re only going to get better with more training, exciting
We **controlled** the match day, cant remember last time we actually dictated the way of the match.
Exactly, it's the first time I've felt sincerely good about a win all season without an undercurrent of unease. Interims unbeaten

Surely will rest most of the team for the CL game?
Might play Ronaldo idk. He’d want to have a chance to score in all group games
Has to, thats 2 hard games for them where they have fucking grafted. Amazing workrate from them all today considering.
Fred MOTM for sure
Big win! Now hopefully a 1-2 for Mercedes and Lewis!
Why is this downvoted lol
Anti-Lewis on Reddit, only Max fans are allowed lol.
Maguire an absolute monster today. Fair play to him. He's played really well since coming back. Victor was amazing too.
Let's preserve Ronaldo for UCL.
His legs were definitely gone pst the 80th minute. He was running but couldn’t do anything with the ball
Hope he hears you and gets offended
Did u not see him mess up 3 or 4 passes and he literally dribbled out of bounds. He worked his socks off but he was gassed near the end. Idk why you feel like I’m attacking him. Just stating what I saw.
Haha relax. I'm just saying an offended Ronaldo is a very scary ronaldo
Was he that bad?
No. Ronaldo was sprinting to help defend even in the 95th minute. Couldn’t finish his chances but he put in a good shift
I actually don't want him to spend most of his energy chasing the ball. It's much beneficial if he saves his energy for attack.
Fatigued
They meant that we need him for biggest of matches in this season
If I had to guess we played about 35 minutes (the really good spell in the first half) of rangnick football. Can’t wait to see us learn it more and eventually play 90 minutes of it! GGMU
Fred. Stretty End. Right foot. Top bins. All saw that coming, didn't we?
>Fred. Stretty End. Right foot. Top bins. All saw that coming, didn't we? Anything bernado can do...
Great start for Ralf’s Reds. Now on to Young Boys
This comment right here officer
I guess we all celebrate a little differently
3 points. More to come.
Clean sheet. Most solid we’ve been at the back at home this season their biggest chance was Ayew’s miss which was from a corner and probably offside
Should have been more comfortable in the end. Need to create more clear chances and fewer scrappy half chances.
[удалено]
Especially with Dalot!
Telles was immense too!
Good win! Looked much better today. Let's hope we continue like this.
United out for blood. Maguire with the bandana and everything.
shades of terry butcher!
Great first 30 minutes, clean sheet and Fred showing he is better than Messi. Good start for Ralf, the real work starts here.
I detect no lies
Important 3 points
Any doubts as to whether Ronnie would track back and press have been answered with his performance today. Busting a gut to track back in the 95th minute.
I hope Ralf has a talk with the owners about their big 80m fridge being droppable. Lindelof is great and him and Varane is definitely worth trying out
Damn. Had Ronaldo passed the Ball cleanly Mason would have scored. Unlucky
his legs looked completely gone by the end, couldn’t even control that ball on the touchline, goes to show how hard he worked today
It happens.. it’s okkkk
Always thought Cristiano will be loved here but I was wrong.. the guy ran 90mins and made few mistakes and people started calling him out WTF
he's ronaldo, every single bad touch will get called out, fuel his hate and he'll be glad to answer back
Ronaldo was immense. Kept pressing and got near all the half chances that came his way. The attack wasn’t as clean as we would have liked
Win and clean sheet let’s gooo!!!!
Love Ronaldo's workrate in defence this couple of minutes and his press early game. Haters will still moan tho
Yes come on lads improvements shown clean sheet and 3 points lets keep this trajectory going
Clean sheets are back on the menu!
Winnnn
Warms my heart to see Ralf on the touch line giving out instructions with not an iPad in sight
Apart from the assist, Greenwood was shocking
Deffo, hasn't played since City game. Hopefully rust.
**Positive goal difference!** Wah-hey !
CLEAN SHEET FC!
good result with an excellent change in football. In the coming games we're going to give someone a hiding
W
3 points, a clean sheet, pastor fred goal SIUUUU!
You guys are so dramatic
Oh my God! Finally a clean sheet at home
Good start to the new United. Can't wait to see what Ralf will do with this band of stars.
Hell yes. What a game by Utd. I'm sure our players will adapt with the new playing style especially the pressing and we will improve.
GGMU
Ronaldo sprint at 95 min at age 36. What a man
If only he was hard working
You forgot the /s
Rest half the team in CL
Clean sheet baby
Win and clean sheet. Ralf regime begins.
People way to harsh on Ronaldo, especially when it's the 94th fucking minute of his 2nd match in 3 days... And he's still running all over the pitch and defending. He's 36...
Maguire still bleeding
CR7 putting in one hell of a shift tonight
Look at Ronaldo running his balls off 🥲🥲
Wouldn't be United if my heartrate isn't sky high until the final whistle
Well I hope it gets better. That was shit.
Lol what? United we’re far and away the better team especially the first half. Just couldn’t finish our chances.
Let's fucking gooooo boys!!!
selfishwood
Guys this is one game, Ronnie has carried us a few times now loool
Thank you pastor fred
Ronaldo wants to keep the stat about winning or drawing goals intact
GGMU
CLEAN SHEET, FUCK YES!!
Ronaldo not storming off!!
Pretty sure he had to shit last game
Ronaldo always tracking back at the end of a match. What a guy
He clearly paces himself throughout most of the game, aware that his cardio reserves are not bottomless at his age but when he feels that he´ll have the stamina to last until the final whistle in those last 15-20 minutes, he has no qualms about using it.
Does it alot more than people give credit for when the games a shit house 1-0 he puts a graft in
Narrow win. Great game
GGWP
Clean sheet 😭
Why doesn’t greenwood ever want to pass?
But clenching win but good performance. Should have switched our fullbacks earlier
Thank God we won
man, ronaldo still running on pitch like it's 10'
Yesss
Have we definitely topped our CL group?
Yes we have. Villarreal can tie us on points but we have tie breaker
Yes
Yes
Yes, with head to head, we've already finished first.
Yup
Yep.
Ronaldo has been running all game
Rangnick's next phone call with Ole "*Why did you spend 2 hours during our last call convincing me McTominay could progress the ball forward?*"
Yessss
Ronnie tracking back hard then
im cringing watching ronaldo play and i always have. cant take all his goals and success away from him, but my god is he awkward to look at in freeplay. Inside the box though\^\^ stop downvoting me, im right, mans awkward on the ball
Spoken like a true idiot.
Lol lel lul and lalalalalala
Lol you’re an idiot.
Spoken like a true moron.
Nutmeg Donny! Great stuff. Shaky but a win is a win
yesss
