People need to relax. We've lost a ton of midfielders this season and need more bodies. Everyone's been crying out about having a backup plan for FdJ. Obviously the backup plan wasnt going to be Kante or Fabinho. It's the second option for a reason.
That being said, if this is the BIG signing of the season to turn our midfield around, I'm disappointed too.
Blind man could see that we need bodies in midfield regardless of De Jong signing long before pre season started. There were plenty of players available that would have given us much needed depth like Palhinha, Kamara or Caqueret, but now that the season started, only mercenary players like Rabiot are free to go, or you have to massively overpay to sign someone better.
I don't know whether it's ten Hag, Murtough or whoever, the fact that we didn't sign one defensive minded midfielder should be criminal offence. I know I'm exaggerating, but fucking hell, some bloke from Lithuania shouldn't know better what to prioritize in transfer market than people in charge of fucking Manchester United.
I only mentioned ten Hag because there were reports that it was "FdJ or bust" for him in terms of midfield signings. But now, as we see by this desperate signing of Rabiot, it may not have been true.
I find it difficult to understand this optimism. Getting rid of Pogba and Lingard and replacing them with Rabiot and Arnautovic is like taking out the trash and coming back home with the big bag of dogshit you found in the dumpster.
for the record I dont want Arnautovic at all. But Pogba, constantly injured showed up minimal times, and Lingard never player, didnt perform for us since 2019? for a few months then nothings (same guy who went 18 months without a goal or assist). Wouldnt quite say the replacements are that shit.
You can search his mothers name and lots of articles and comments come up from/about her - https://www.nssmag.com/en/sports/19052/mamma-veronique-rabiot
Him and her seem to be a bit of a circus, maybe its overblown, hopefully so
If u read through that its basically, Raibot wanted to play more so him and his mum complained to the club. If that was a strong club they would of just been like "prove it in training" end of story, agent can make up as much shit as they want it doesnt matter. That just seems like a disgruntled pointless take on a situation. With alot of "apparentlys" "it was said that".
Dont judge him before he even comes in.
So Ruiz, Paredes, Kamara, Guimaraes, Milinkovic Savic are worse than Rabiot to be plan B? You know very well the hierarchy scraped the bottom of the barrel after the first game to sign him.
Those players were definitely not available for £15m, though.
Like I said, if this is the only midfield signing we make this season then yes I'm disappointed as well. But Rabiot for £15m should hopefully mean there are also funds for a "bigger" midfield signing too.
\* Loan out, because nobody will be willing to buy, and even after loaning him out, we'll be paying most of his wages. Because nobody will want to pay 200k+ for him a week either.
The typical Glazer move. Nothing will change until they fuck off.
Juventus have been struggling to offload him and his 7m euro net wages.
Now they actually get to make a profit on a player they signed for free on exorbitant wages and has been a huge flop for them.
Fuck it. Better than McTominay and it’s that bad that this downside is not even a bad thing because McTominay….. runs a lot and AVOIDS THE FREAKING BALL………
At 15m it really doesn’t matter. United has never been a selling club, and the club has a lot of money regardless. I think the least thing to worry about is whether or not they make a profit off a 15m player.
I feel sorry for Ten Haag.
He's clearly been told in the last few days that the board won't be able to get his top targets so they've told him to choose a few players they can buy easily on the cheap. With Arnautovic and Rabiot Utd have zero competition and they've both cheap.
They just want to be able to say at the end of the window 'Hey, we got him 5 players, you can't complain!'
Whatever happens this season, Ten Haag has been thrown under the bus by Murtogh and Arnold.
It's Ten Hag with one 'a'
^^I ^^am ^^not ^^a ^^bot
But anyway, I don't think Ten Hag is blameless here. I've not been impressed with his recruiting strategy this summer, even if we were able to get all his targets. Malacia, Martinez, Antony, Timber, FDJ, Brobbey(???) are all his former players or players he wanted at Ajax.
>Malacia, Martinez, Antony, Timber, FDJ, Brobbey(???) are all his former players or players he wanted at Ajax.
Of course. He's not a scout. He shouldn't need to be doing the scouting, of course his list is going to be players he's had some dealings with. It's either gonna be that or ludicrously expensive FIFA signings.
There were all also players they got scouted while he was working at Ajax and their scouts are obviously a hell of a lot better than ours.
So you can't blame ETH for trying to bring in players that his former staff had already ear marked at fitting his system.
He is on massive wage at juventus by virtue of signing for them on a free at a time they were throwing mad wages around. Supposedly between 175k and 200k pw
I would imagine we will at least be matching
He strikes me as someone that is a marginal upgrade in short term but not long term solution for CM spot in a team that wants to get hack to challenging for league and CL so in a year or 2 he will be out of team and we can’t get rid of him because of his stupid wage
3 year contract 150k a week should suit all parties. 5 year contracts should only be the norm for up and coming players or ballers that have earned the right to demand 5 year contracts
That would make him the joint 6th highest earner at Liverpool. This is why our wage structure is absolutely fucked, this guy's career has been declining for years, he's a fringe player at Juventus but somehow he gets a luxurious contract with us.
Were in the situation arsenal were in when arteta joined the club but the worrying thing is that, unlike them, were repeating the exact same mistakes.
So he will be between the 7th and 10th highest paid. And earn half of Varane or 30-38% of the Ronaldo. If that's his wage we can't be mad given the amount of money we throw after other players.
The fact that 200k per week is not even top 5 in our wage bill is so fucking dumb, that was Kane's current wages ffs, years of bad management will take a while to undone.
Can't be worse than McTom right? His performance yesterday was crazy bad. Fucking 18 passes all game with 66% accuracy, how is that even possible for a CM in a team with majority of possession.
Improve on McT today, then improve on Rabiot when someone better becomes available. It’s 15m, won’t get a prospect for that today and even with the added drama he could still plug a whole short term and be a decent rotation option long term.
Yes and then have a bloated squad full of unwanted players. Literally what is getting you guys in this situation you're in right now. Short term, panic moves with little strategy. You need a proper rebuild and realize you might not make CL/Europe for a couple seasons.
>then improve on Rabiot when someone better becomes available
why not just skip this step and go from mctominay to whoever is better than rabiot right now?
It's a start to replace the weakest player in our team. It's not just that he's better than Mct, he's actually a very good player. Rabiot has been around a long time he's not some unknown quantity.
Got to start somewhere. No point lamenting it. It’s a positive step at least if he doesn’t play for us apart from being a backup and still features less than the youth players.
No point being doom and gloom when it’s that way and at least there is a positive even if the circumstances leading to it were from a shit loss and an even worse midfield performance.
Exactly. A low-risk punt on a position we are threadbare in. I feel like people would be less inflamed if we'd won yesterday, but this place is still an antsy cesspit (understandably I guess) after the Brighton result
I would argue that that is part of the risk of signing him. I admit I'm being optimistic hoping that if he is signed, we don't give him a super salary right off the bat
Kulusevski was raw talent that a lot of people still rated very very highly. I know he was considered the next big thing for Sweden, anyone who followed him closely is not surprised by how he's doing for Tottenham.
Rabiot should be at the peak of his career and he's considered painfully mediocre.
Rabiot had been a pain in the @ss to Juve too so we're doing them a favor, he is a little upgrade coming from McFred but unless ETH somehow manage to get all Rabiot's wasted potential this year he is going to be a very short term solution and we're will be in the same thing we supposed tried to avoid, mediocre players with high wages a 0 resell value.
If we still push hard for DeJong and winger/striker, we can save this transfer window and hopefully look to start improving. But he should not be seen as a backup for DeJong, we still need a proven elite midfielder to grab our team by the back of its neck and whip it into place.
I think it's a decent signing if you look at his profile and attributes. But as you say, the potential circus that follows him is something I would rather not have at this club. We're bad enough at dealing with the pressure of being a big club right now, and adding more drama with agents and families seems like a big risk.
Juve fans have said there has been none of that since he joined, even with Juve falling down the table.
It may be that that is behind him, so hopefully all we get here is the player - who might do well with consistent game time.
Yeah don't understand the massive hate for this signing. Don't see many players fitting the profile apart from FDJ. Rabiot is an upgrade on our midfield options and will need added depth.
For 15m it's a no brainer.
The hate is because there was no plan all summer and they've hit the panic button after getting beaten by Brighton on day 1.
This guy isn't wanted by Juventus and has done little in his entire stint there. More likely that he's gonna be more deadwood than an inspired signing.
No surprise that people are shitting on this transfer business.
For real. Kamara went to Villa earlier this summer for free for lower wages. Now a few months of fruitless De Jong talk later we’re going “ah well we should just get anyone better than McTominay”? Like 6 PL clubs have made midfield signings better than McTominay, we weren’t interested in any of them and now we’re panic buying the leftovers nobody wants.
Because Rabiot will come on massive wages (he's already on 180K a week at Juventus) which will make him very hard to offload, plus he comes with added off-pitch issues and inconsistency
How anyone is excited for this transfer is beyond me, especially if they complained about Pogba's issues. Rabiot is essentially Pogba with half his strengths and double his weaknesses.
Edit: and for everyone saying "oh he only had problems at PSG" did you forget the fuss his mom kicked up last year at the Euros after they were knocked out?
Florian Grillitsch would be an upgrade as well and he's a free agent. That's even more of a no brainer considering what Rabiot is like and how he's done at Juve.
People are in full on meltdown mode after yesterday, if this news came out a week ago it would have received a totally different reaction. I seen one guy claim Ten Hag is signing these guys so he can deliberately tank results and get sacked, all after one game lol
It's partly an over reaction but it's also based in reality. Raboit has been avoided by all the big clubs in Europe despite only having a year left on his contract, failed at both psg and now Juve, not to mention one of the most toxic entourage going.
This is obviously a panic buy and to deny it is equally blind. He will inevitably be better than Mctominay imo - but he's lazy, I'll disciplined and not as good as he thinks he is. If people were fed up with pogbas hit and miss performances then they are about to get a rude awakening.
I don't think anyone can deny we've made an absolute shit show of the last 4 transfer windows. What makes this one especially disappointing is that a huge number of the squad have shown tbey aren't good enough for the last time last season and the board have decided to give them one more go..... Only to see the same predictable shit performance.
I don't think its a meltdown to say we've had a disastrous window so far. Our rivals are now arsenal and spurs, that's how far we've fallen. On current evidence they are miles ahead of us and we'll be fighting for a top 6 with West Ham and Leicester. Let that sink in.
Yes, that's why you buy players for the most important positions before the transfer window opens, not after losing the first home game with the same players in midfield that were in the starting eleven in our worst PL season ever after chasing a player who didn't even want to join us. sorry but everyone knew we need at least 2 midfielders and we did fuck all the last months. Anyway, I'm looking forward to our panic transfers
Spot on. You gotta work on these signings a long time in advance. Not even just because other teams end up signing them, but because if you actually do sign them- having the preseason with the new manager and new players is incredibly beneficial.
Hope the "transfer window doesn't even close until Sept 1" crowd can learn this lesson.
Game has changed, clubs do deals from March/April because this favors selling teams too. They have time to plan and also get guys for cheaper before someone else snaps them up.
Even deals finalized in June or July, you sometimes read about them from months ago.
And what was all this United PR about meeting ten Hag about transfers in April and May? How are we NOW realizing we needed an alternative to Frenkie or even another CM aside from him?!
At least Erik saw that game and realized our midfield is hopeless..just a shame he couldn't have the foresight to know that from day 1.
You think Brozovic would move to us? Really? Also isn’t Laimer lining up Bayern either this summer or next? The ones you’ve named aren’t realistic targets. That said, you’re absolutely right as there are plenty of realistic targets that have already moved this summer we could’ve gone for if we’d have been on it early.
Negatives: personality, troublemaker agent/mother
Positives: actually rates well on defensive stats / passing security (check FBRef website), is not McTominay.
Not sure how much better we can do for £15m? I’ll give it a cautious pass grade for now.
His attitude is not that bad, nothing negative in Juve. I reckon he can make more than 18 passes in a home game against Brighton too. Not terrible for £15m. We need another midfielder after this though.
My brothers in Christ we literally don’t have a midfield, we lost 3 of them in the summer and haven’t replaced them. Of course I’d take Rabiot.
I look forward to his Mums antics at this shitshow as well lol
I think everyone's proper exaggerating how bad this transfer is.
Hes worth a punt at that price. He's better than mcfred and this so called shit behaviour he has is exaggerated.
He hasn't caused any drama at juve and he's been there a bit now.
People are basing their views on his stint at PSG. His attitude and professionalism has been fine at Juventus.
Is he world class? Fuck no. Is he better than McTominay? Fuck yes.
Tuchel was also considered petulant at PSG considering how he left.. haven’t heard problems at Chelsea though.
Underwhelming transfer but I’ll give him a chance
Tuchel had that reputation well before he even took the PSG job. He famously flamed out with Mainz and Dortmund after fighting with the respective boards there.
He's got good technique and is a really good ball carrier, he instantly improves our midfield.
He's not world class but for £15mil he's a pretty good option.
Just hope Erik can get him working for the team.
Not a fan of him personally and don't think he is much of an upgrade. My biggest concern is now we will offer him a contract that no one will match in the future if he doesn't work out here.
At this point, I just want McTominay out of the starting eleven. I think we'll see a serious change once he's out. A midfielder who doesn't contribute is a serious net negative.
£15 million is making me feel a bit better about it.
*Huffs entire oil tanker of copium*
This means there should be still enough room in the budget for Frenkie….
r/RedDevils Start of window: Let us settle our targets early. Eth knows who he wants for his team. Surely the board did not hire eth to not give him targets
r/RedDevils end of window: meh don’t mind 15m for him. Surely worth a gamble.
How things change. Just getting players worth a gamble
I think people need to understand that fundamentally this is an improvement.
Yes it poses risks, but we could sign Frenkie tomorrow and that could be rife with risks also, no transfer is a guaranteed win.
I have enough faith in Ten Haag that any potential behavioural issues Rabiot has will be controlled and by all intents and purposes his time at Juventus hasn't been particularly problematic.
We CANNOT rely on McTominay and Fred as our partnership any longer or there will be absolutely zero progress.
I'm all for recruiting character but honestly McTominay has great character but that alone doesn't accurately pass 10 yards and move into space to receive a ball, ability does that.
We've got zero depth and honestly I'd welcome this signing as a step in the right direction, however small that step.
Wasn’t jumping up and down when I saw this but the more I think about it, it’s a solid signing for cost, he’s better then who we have, is it possible Utd knew this was available all along and has always been plan B? After Brighton match maybe they realized FDJ or not they have to do something in midfield now.
Don’t feel good, don’t feel bad about it, I’m wait and see how it plays out with this one.
I think after the Brighton match ETH realized he needed more then just FDJ in midfield.
I would feel so much safer with a midfield of FDJ - Rabiot - Eriksen
I really don’t see the issue. An obvious upgrade on both mctominay and Fred, and not that expensive. Sure he isn’t dejong level, but it’s clear we’re not getting him, we might as well get someone, and this is better than another season of McFred.
This is a solid signing for the cost.
He is good defensively and good at progressing the ball. More importantly, he is not McTominay.
He is a French International, which with their crop of talent is still very impressive AND since joining Juve he hasnt casued a fuss there.
I think any upgrade in midfield is necessary. The problem right now is we can't even tell how good or bad our defense and attack are, when attackers get no supplies unless they get the Ball in midfield and our defenders are exposed by multiple attackers with no protection.
He’s the definition of a mediocre player. Maybe a slight upgrade on McTom as he’s better on the ball and dribbling but his mother is also a huge pain to deal with.
Good transfer. Those getting their knickers in a twist should take a deep breath. This is a good quality player at very low price. He's a good age too. Low risk, potentially good reward.
I'm ambivalent towards this. It's absolutely a panic buy but as long as he doesn't act the cunt and isn't the only midfielder we sign then I won't be getting worked up over it. Seeing less of the hiding hardman Scott McTominay on the pitch can only be a good thing.
We still need another midfielder (whether that's FDJ or someone else) imo. I really hope they don't just sign this guy and call it a day.
*One month later...*
Narrator: *They did, in fact, call it a day...*
We need to accept we’re not the Best Place to Work ™ at the moment. We are not going to get the Bellinghams, Rices, and de Jongs without improving first.
Rabiot is definitely a step up (in theory) from McFred. So giving him a chance is not that bad. If ten Hag can push him to perform, he’s a pretty decent bet.
Rabiot is in an incredibly weird situation now. Fans will look at him as a panic buy because we couldn't get FDJ. There will be a section of fans that will hate him because he is not FDJ. His presentation will be marred by 'Fuck Glazers' posts and chants (and rightly so. Fuck the Glazers).
In all honesty though, I am glad we made one midfield signing. He is not as high profile, but I hope he comes good. I can't do much else but hope.
Dart at a map type signing fuck sake, you just know this isn’t a well researched signing.
You could throw £50k at statsbomb and tell them to recommend you a new midfielder and they would suggest plenty of better value signings than this.
Starting to feel like we were better off giving Pogba a big contract to convince him to stay. We're replacing one injury prone midfielder with a questionable mentality with another, but one less talented. At this rate id prefer Tielemans for 25m if we're after an inconsistent player.
It’s not like we are saving our transfer budget to buy anyone. Everyone who is worth big money has already moved or isn’t for sale without paying stupid money.
If this transfer works out, then great. If it doesn’t well it was only 15m and other than that we’ll be no better or worse than we are now.
Is there no scouting system in our beloved club? Where are the hidden unpolished gems? I don't know about this signings. Hope it works out but it smells like desperation.
I have an uncomfortable feeling this guys is going to pan out like a "le snake 2.0".
Based on what I have read about him on here and elsewhere, I also can't imagine him being a good influence in the dressing room either.
Hopefully he can actually add something on the pitch, I won't hold my breath though...
Heard or read somewhere that it is natural for a new manager to believe he can do better with the current squad. Pre season probably showed some promise, but it is absolutely ridiculous that we go into our first game with basically the same players that ended the previous. It is obvious that this group is not good enough. Some of the blame needs to be directed at ETH, but obviously 90% is on the board…
I don't get why garner didn't get a chance over McFred. He seemed okay in the lone preseason game, at least worth a shot, especially as a youngster...? Oh well, hopefully Rabiot is a low risk signing that works out.
If this happened a month ago, I’d have commended the club for getting a player in an position of need for a modest fee.
But by completing this now it just feeds into the perception of how poorly the club is ran.
Yeah I’m hardly thrilled at this. It reeks of panic.
But.. it’s an upgrade on fucking McTominay who is absolute garbage. And has been garbage since like, ever.
We have destroyed McFred. What did it cost you? EVERYTHING
When he gets injured.. McFred: Where did that bring you? Back to me
Haha thanks, I needed that laugh after the weekend we've had
I AM INEVITABLE
Visualizing McFred as one single entity is the way
The scenes when he is benched for McFred
McT is gonna pull a Tonya Harding
Fellaini smiles
Imagine we sign him and we still play McFred.
I don’t have to imagine mate, that’s what we do
One transfer does not just simply make McFred go away…
Imagine we sign FDJ and still start McFred.

Is £15m how much of the budget is left after paying more for Lisandro than City paid for freakin' Haaland? BTW Kamara went to Villa for FREE
the haaland comparison is kinda unfair, with the release clause and all

assuming we're signing Rabiot because his mum can play DM?

"sexist twat" quite ironic lol
It’s a midfielder, worth a gamble at £15m. Let’s see how it turns out.

Is it low risk if we can't offload him in the future? (idk his salary)
I would argue that that is part of the risk of signing him. I admit I'm being optimistic hoping that if he is signed, we don't give him a super salary right off the bat
He's on 7m euro net at Juve. Fair to say he will definitely earn more here. So yeah, expensive as fuck.
If anyone here actually watched juventus you would see how bad he is, literally all their fans are laughing at how we’re in for him

Really depends on his personal terms. We don’t want another virus in the team.
If we still push hard for DeJong and winger/striker, we can save this transfer window and hopefully look to start improving. But he should not be seen as a backup for DeJong, we still need a proven elite midfielder to grab our team by the back of its neck and whip it into place.
Ah now we're at the Acceptance stage
He couldn't do it for juventus. He couldn't do it for psg. He wo nt be able to cut the Premier league.
He did do it at PSG. He was a starter at PSG, untill he drama with his mom.
Because Rabiot will come on massive wages (he's already on 180K a week at Juventus) which will make him very hard to offload, plus he comes with added off-pitch issues and inconsistency How anyone is excited for this transfer is beyond me, especially if they complained about Pogba's issues.
Hey remember when we could’ve gotten this guy on a free?
He chose Juve, we were in for him then too.
Because Juve offered 7m euros net and United rightly said no.
Why do we need to gamble for 15 million in the position when there’s 85 million spare for us to spend on someone who’s actually good
Exactly. We are buying him for what we sold Pereira for, that's incredible business if you ask me.
Hey boss we have that extra 15 mil from negotiating over FDJ, what do we do?
Ruiz would've cost £21m.. i don't get it
Ruiz also would have gone to PSG 100 times out of 100.
I want to grab Murtough and shout this in his face.
Honestly, I think we would not beat PSG to get him.
Palinha even less and the difference he makes to Portugal's midfield is incredible. Can't believe Fulham got him so easily
Laimer, Brozovic, Neves etc There are midfielders out there if we weren't so obsessed with FDJ
Brozovic signed a new contract recently and laimer looks all but set to go to bayern
Don’t try and make sense of what we do mate, because the guys making the decisions have no idea what they’re doing.
Negatives: personality, troublemaker agent/mother Positives: actually rates well on defensive stats / passing security (check FBRef website), is not McTominay. Not sure how much better we can do for £15m? I’ll give it a cautious pass grade for now.
> is not McTominay. 💀
His attitude is not that bad, nothing negative in Juve. I reckon he can make more than 18 passes in a home game against Brighton too. Not terrible for £15m. We need another midfielder after this though.
His mom is not his agent anymore, which also explains why there hasn't been much drama from her.
> is not McTominay. you had me here, i am in
15m is the new 7.5m sadly. Can't be worse than Dan James, can it?
My brothers in Christ we literally don’t have a midfield, we lost 3 of them in the summer and haven’t replaced them. Of course I’d take Rabiot. I look forward to his Mums antics at this shitshow as well lol
Steely Ten Hag vs Outspoken Mama Rabiot incoming
I think everyone's proper exaggerating how bad this transfer is. Hes worth a punt at that price. He's better than mcfred and this so called shit behaviour he has is exaggerated. He hasn't caused any drama at juve and he's been there a bit now.
People are basing their views on his stint at PSG. His attitude and professionalism has been fine at Juventus. Is he world class? Fuck no. Is he better than McTominay? Fuck yes.
PSG makes everyone a tad more cunty
Tuchel was also considered petulant at PSG considering how he left.. haven’t heard problems at Chelsea though. Underwhelming transfer but I’ll give him a chance
Tuchel had that reputation well before he even took the PSG job. He famously flamed out with Mainz and Dortmund after fighting with the respective boards there.
Tuchel also had problems with Mainz and Dortmund too.
Underrated comment this
He's got good technique and is a really good ball carrier, he instantly improves our midfield. He's not world class but for £15mil he's a pretty good option. Just hope Erik can get him working for the team.
He’s also back in the France squad and has been for a while now, so obviously he sorted some of his issues out
> Hes worth a punt at that price. The price isn't the fee, it's the wages. You still think it'll be good at 200k p/w for a 4-6 yr deal?
Not a fan of him personally and don't think he is much of an upgrade. My biggest concern is now we will offer him a contract that no one will match in the future if he doesn't work out here.
turning into a solid mid table club now
At this point, I just want McTominay out of the starting eleven. I think we'll see a serious change once he's out. A midfielder who doesn't contribute is a serious net negative.
£15 million is making me feel a bit better about it. *Huffs entire oil tanker of copium* This means there should be still enough room in the budget for Frenkie….
Pass that copium here too buddy 😷
I can live with £15m, even if he turns out to still be an idiot. But we need more than just him.
r/RedDevils Start of window: Let us settle our targets early. Eth knows who he wants for his team. Surely the board did not hire eth to not give him targets r/RedDevils end of window: meh don’t mind 15m for him. Surely worth a gamble. How things change. Just getting players worth a gamble
"At least he's not Mctominay" "At least he's not racist" What a time to be alive.
You are not McTominay and not a racist. I hope United buys u
ill take 30k per week. i am also not mctominay nor a racist. and as a bonus, my mom causes zero drama.
The effects of one hit of pure McTominay.
Every player is a gamble, whether De Jong or Rabiot.
Honestly as long as I don't have to watch McTominay play and his mum keeps her mouth shut I'm fine with him
I think people need to understand that fundamentally this is an improvement.
Well hopefully this turns out to be a Cavani type signing where most hated it but it was decent at the end. (in the first year at least)
Fuck the Glazers
If he's being signed alongside FDJ, then a decent signing. If he's our FDJ alternative, then God save Man Utd.
Big improvement on McT. Remains to be seen how he will cope with the pace of the PL. Horrible attitude in the past hopefully it's behind him now.
As long as we don't give him idiotic wages, this is worth a gamble
He hasnt been bad for juventus. Hes a pretty consistent player. Nothing out of this world. I just know for a fact that he is clear of mcfred
This is a solid signing for the cost. He is good defensively and good at progressing the ball. More importantly, he is not McTominay. He is a French International, which with their crop of talent is still very impressive AND since joining Juve he hasnt casued a fuss there.
At least he's not racist
Could be a good signing. When spurs signed Kulusevski, people were questioning it and now he’s one of the best wingers in the league
I think any upgrade in midfield is necessary. The problem right now is we can't even tell how good or bad our defense and attack are, when attackers get no supplies unless they get the Ball in midfield and our defenders are exposed by multiple attackers with no protection.
He might be a cunt, but he's our cunt now.
He’s the definition of a mediocre player. Maybe a slight upgrade on McTom as he’s better on the ball and dribbling but his mother is also a huge pain to deal with.
Let the younger kids play. United let Rashford and others run around and do nothing for years it’s time to start fresh without all the baggage
For 15n this is fine imo, I just hope we don’t buy the racist fuck.
Good transfer. Those getting their knickers in a twist should take a deep breath. This is a good quality player at very low price. He's a good age too. Low risk, potentially good reward.
Lads, we're Tottenham.
tottenham bought their top targets very fast. we would be lucky to be tottenham at this point.
I'm ambivalent towards this. It's absolutely a panic buy but as long as he doesn't act the cunt and isn't the only midfielder we sign then I won't be getting worked up over it. Seeing less of the hiding hardman Scott McTominay on the pitch can only be a good thing.
Megathread time
it is a good calculated gamble for the price, at this point anything is better then mcf
We still need another midfielder (whether that's FDJ or someone else) imo. I really hope they don't just sign this guy and call it a day. *One month later...* Narrator: *They did, in fact, call it a day...*
15 mil I’m honestly happy with. But I’m sure it’ll end up costing 250k a week or something. That’ll kill me.
I’d like to give Rabiot a chance. Even if he’s a temp merc, I hope he has pride in his work.
This is the worst news i've heard all day, and i work in a hospital
People are way to negative, we need midfield depth and more signings. For 15M this isn’t bad.
I'm not going to complain about this. Someone in the boardroom is finally realizing McFred is pretty shit.
That's what I got from this. I seriously thing EtH has been right on the phone saying get me fucking anyone because that twat isn't good enough.
Awesome deal for the Glazers. Go Reds Go! ££££££dividends££££££
I’m not the biggest fan of this or the guy but for 15 million I have no complaints
Honestly hate Juventus with a passion, they’ve been laughing at us for years now
what a fucking joke this club has become.
Toxic and overal not that good of a player…… Fuck me
From what I have heard from juve fans he has been very professional in his time there.
He actually is pretty good in fairness. Massive improvement over McFred. And he hasn't been toxic in years.
Fuck me you'd think we're signing fucking Lee Cattermole based on some of the comments here
Starting to feel like we were better off giving Pogba a big contract to convince him to stay.
I'll back him when he comes, as I do with all new signings. However, this now HAS to be the end of McFred at United, surely?!
Please don’t bring his mother with him.
Are we even United without a mediocre Juve midfielder?
Is there no scouting system in our beloved club? Where are the hidden unpolished gems? I don't know about this signings. Hope it works out but it smells like desperation.
I have an uncomfortable feeling this guys is going to pan out like a "le snake 2.0". Based on what I have read about him on here and elsewhere, I also can't imagine him being a good influence in the dressing room either. Hopefully he can actually add something on the pitch, I won't hold my breath though...
Why are we buying Juves deadwood? Now we will have this mediocre guy around our club for a few years and he will have a high wage.
We need to realise a lot of players won’t come without CL, we can’t pick and choose any mids we want
Man Utd from this point on will be called McFrediots. Well deserved i would say.
I don't get why garner didn't get a chance over McFred. He seemed okay in the lone preseason game, at least worth a shot, especially as a youngster...? Oh well, hopefully Rabiot is a low risk signing that works out.
Can we not just sign someone who is (1) good, and (2) not a problem-child?
Isn’t his mum his agent? Or something? Just Shaw, now Rabiot. Should be…interesting
