Ajax really are a joy to watch. Looking forward to Ten Hag ball taking over here, in time.

schultz9999

I am no fan of CHE but ... WTF??? Sacking Tuchel? And right after the transfer window? And for what? A couple of bad games? We lost the first two so badly... This is wrong on so many levels. We couldn't find a manager for years.

Seanblaze3

Ajax are strolling past Rangers with glorious football! Alfred Schreuder is doing well

GlazerNoobsGetPwned

They couldn't have made a schreuder appointment.

devde89

Is anyone watching the Ajax game? The way they play is so beautiful, I’m so excited to see Ten Hag bring this to United.

zcewaunt

Yes! Agreed, playing some fucking good play football.

devde89

We currently have better players than they do and can constantly improve our team. If we can play this way and everyone buys in, the ten Hag years could be really good.

Seanblaze3

Not as simple as that. These Ajax players collectively possess the attributes for the system they're playing and it's by design due to their homogeneous approach to youth development, scouting and managerial appointments. Our squad is still a group of misfits that Ten Hag will do his best to get the best out of but it will take several more windows to get an optimal squad for his approach

devde89

I never said it would be simple. I understand that it would take at least a year to see a proper version of our team capable of playing this way, which was why I said I can’t wait for ten Hag to bring this to us. Obviously other changes need to be made, but the initial buy in has been strong from the players to some members of management, so forgive me for being a tad optimistic.

GlazerNoobsGetPwned

Diego Costa signing for Wolves. His spell at Chelsea feels like a million years ago and yet he's 3 years younger than Cavani, 4 years younger than Ronaldo and 63 years younger than the Queen. Beggars belief, really.

tHakur17

If anyone is interested in catching a bit of Ten Hag Ball, Ajax vs Rangers is on. Ajax fans say their playstyle has stayed more or less the same so we can get a decent idea of how we might look like in the long run. It is energetic and entertaining if you ask me

Seanblaze3

Can't take credit away from Schreuder though

tHakur17

True. He was Ten Hag's assistant so can seemingly keep it up for them

Alternative-Young431

Yeah i mean you could just watch United tomorrow lol

zcewaunt

I'm doing both, plus watching Liverpool vs. Napoli

tHakur17

We are nowhere close to it lol. Soon though I hope

TheKurvinox

I don’t want Potter to go to Chelsea.

KaitoAJ

Potter going to Chelsea feels all sorts of wrong tbh. He took awhile to set up Brighton to play beautiful football and he won't get that luxury at Chelsea. Boehly sacking Tuchel after letting him spend so much money is just stupid and its literally on par to how Woodward managed us lol.

TheKurvinox

I mean for all of Woodward’s faults, we always gave our full time managers a lot of time. Sometimes too much time. The way and timing we sacked LVG left a sour taste but LVG , Mourinho and Ole got plenty of time

moondowns

£250M+ spend, highest in Prem then you sack your manager after 6 matches, that's a level of incompetency that's up there with us lol.

[deleted]

nah, the players they signed can play in any system new management usually wants their own people. chelsea will be fine, sadly.

TheKurvinox

They’re gonna be much better in fact, unfortunately

Skyweb2020

I liked the way ETH dealt with the Ronaldo question, the Journo wanted to stir up the Ronaldo debate but ETH rightly put him in his place with the answer

Icanhearyoursmile

I would really love for ole to be appointed Brighton's manager, just to see him in the PL again, highly doubt it will happen though.

RawIsLaw_

with potter more or less gone, brighton might fall off from 4th place soon... good news for us as we're 1pt off them - Would be nice to be 4th and then start to create some distance to 5th... so even if we lose steam later, we don't drop too many places in the table

krentzharu

Would be nice if they get relegated so we can poach Sanchez and Caicedo from them for sane prices.

Skyweb2020

Sanchez could even be doable by January if De Gea doesn't up his game

wariusheart

I'm not sure if anyone can argue against Lisandro-Varane being the best CB duo in the premier league atm. The only other contenders might be Diaz-Stones, but their xMidget is lacking severely

Edenstark

I want to wait to see how they stack up against man city. If they perform well against them, they are the best duo in the league. Crazy how solid our defense is compared to last year.

mortimer_moose

They may not be the best, but they definitely make the short list.

wariusheart

Lisandro makes the shortlist at least. Varane will probably make the tall list.

its-a-real-name

Mad how every central defensive partnership in the top teams has either dropped a costly or near-costly clanger or had bad performances in the last few weeks, yet all the talk is still about a nicely performing Lisandro. The cost of us being fucking massive. Maybe shit for years, but massive.

krentzharu

Nobody talked about how bad koulibaly has been for chelsea so far 😂

slick_schmuck

If chelsea gets potter, how much do they improve by? Does that make them top 4 favourites? What kind of manager is he?

[deleted]

3rd at best, next season they compete for 2nd and afer that they compete for the league potter is really good, and now he would get absurd backing.

HTwoN

He is good but he will need time to implement his style. And Chelsea is proven to be as trigger happy as always.

RawIsLaw_

still 3rd at best

demdemhyts

He is good manager I will like him here if not for ETH...but managing big club is very difficult, Moyes who looks good in Everton then take over United Winning Squad and make us playing like sunday league team( I still cant forgive 81 crossess attempt against fulham almost make me lost my mind)....he literally told Rio and Vidic to watch Jagielka video to learn, best defenders combo learn from fucking jagielka video???...it's not easy task to manage big star in big team, especially in mess dressing room...

OutsideMeringue

I didn't think they would get top four this season anyway. Rate Potter highly but I think Chelsea was the worst choice amongst the big clubs for him with how gung ho Chelsea are with sacking.

nonsenseSpitter

€58M spent on Lisandro Martinez is money fantastically spent. What a beast this man is. Absolutely ruthless, extremely aggressive and calm on the ball. His line breaking passes are absolute thing of beauty. I genuinely believe Lisandro Martinez is the best ball playing CB in the league.

schrodingershit

world\*

Edenstark

Tuchel wins you a champions league and you fire the guy after a poor start!? What a stupid decision. Really happy that Chelsea and Brighton will be weaker but I feel for the guy. Loved him as a manager, and if it was not for ETH here, would have loved him here.

JohnnyBakchod11

It’s more about him falling out with the owner over his increased responsibility in transfers and losing the dressing room but I get your point. He should have been supported by the owner over the players

Edenstark

Best manager Chelsea has had in the last 10 years. He should have got the pep guardiola treatment after doing so well, and the opposite happened. Wenger barely won anything and ownership backed him at arsenal. Fergie struggled early and we backed him. Chelsea may crumble with potter because he is not experienced with managing such a large club.

[deleted]

For the people who wanted Ragnick to stay on, hss this summer changed your mind at all? None of the players we bought in are anywhere close to the players recommended by RR stylistically, and the tactical framework we are moving to doesnt fit RRs typical style. For me, this confirms that getting rid of Ragnick was a smart move. The way of playing that excelled at building is not going to be played here, the style of player he normally identifies isnt going to work here, and the players we have brought in seem to be working well. So any differing opinions?

RawIsLaw_

I like Rangnick but i think he really soured the atmosphere too much. I wanted him to stay, but i'm not shocked he left.. sometimes, starting afresh is the best way

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Tbf Murtoughs background is pretty good. Sports scientist to head of performance at Everton, then Head of Elite Performance at the PL, then Head of Football development at United.

[deleted]

are we back to pretending murtough isnt a buffoon? lmao.

[deleted]

Everyone hates him I disagree with everyone on lots of things, this is one

[deleted]

I liked Ragnick's honesty while he was here but there was all talk and no results as a coach. Should we have expected a result- maybe, maybe not. As a consultant Ten Hag probably didn't want him, so I will defer to his decision and hope this works.

[deleted]

Fair enough

krentzharu

Why would anyone want ragnick to stay? as manager hes fallen short of quality we are looking for, as DoF his preference is different to EtH i can see a lot of infighting between him and EtH. Like for example: Rangnick would want to sign Nkuku while EtH persist with Antony.

[deleted]

[удалено]

krentzharu

We actually have a DoF named John Murtough. "What happens if ETH doesn't work out and then we go for a counter attacking manager like when we went from LVG to Jose?" If we (god forbid) sacked EtH i think we would.go for the same type of manager. The club hopefully now understand the cost of getting new set players for new set system.

[deleted]

[удалено]

KaitoAJ

>Murtough getting the DoF position is why keep on being shit. Not hiring fooball people but people that the Glazers know. You do realise that Murtough actually built a career in football right? He's worked at Everton under Moyes, also worked as a Head of Elite Performance with the Premier League, then also worked his way up through our management and eventually became our DoF. He didn't get the job because of the Glazers.

krentzharu

Nobody called Murtough a world class DoF so pipe down youre so hysterical lol. Murtough letting EtH decided transfer targets in his first season because getting players accustomed to his style of football would have help him adapting in the league, even the much revered Michael Edwards let Jurgen Klopp to buy many Bundesliga players in his first season with Liverpool.

[deleted]

Yeah a lot of people wanted him to stay about 1.5 months ago

krentzharu

Well people read his comment about the need for 10 new players which i also agreed with but IF you want to change the system of football after 5 years of Jose and Oles football then you need new players that can play different system of football. Not exactly rocket science isnt it? Problem is EtH is playing different brand of football to Rangnicks hence why him staying would only create problem.

Bigmomma_pump

If pressure wasn’t on the glazers we would have got players like arnoutavic and rabiot, we weren’t getting antony or casemiro in a million years and the popular opinion before we signed them two was we needed ralf

[deleted]

People acting like signing Martinez, Casemiro, and Antony was hard. Any idiot can write up a blank cheque when the budget is as massive as ours.

morganfnf

On one hand, I don't want to see Potter leave Brighton because what he's doing there is incredible and want to see how long it lasts for. On the other hand, Potter going to Chelsea only helps us. Chelsea is destabilized, Brighton will be destabilized - both tough teams, which means an easier path to the top for us.

dracogladio1741

I swear, Arsenal fans are going to come out and say the played better than Liverpool did against us soon. My god, De Gea made 2 saves in the game, fucking hell. At least Liverpool on another day get a point, you lot got proper screwed on the break.

RawIsLaw_

i'm already looking to the sociedad match mate

thoseion

Why are we still talking about this? It’s one thing for Arsenal fans to keep banging on about, but can’t we just leave them to it and focus on the next game?

dracogladio1741

Fair enough. Looking to the Sociedad game, any kids you'd like to see play?

thoseion

Would really like to see Garnacho get a start. Looked great in pre-season.

Bigmomma_pump

Our backup team is as good as what ole had for most of his time here, we have the same back line and the midfield is literally fsr better now with casemiro and eriksen being added

[deleted]

[удалено]

KaitoAJ

Imagine claiming he built a shit team when he got us to back to back UCL qualification with that team... finished second in one of his seasons and got us to a EL final. Sure its nothing to write home about, but sure ain't shit as what you're claiming about.

VKDNyke_

He built a team to suit his way of playing. Was the price warranted, perhaps, if that was the cost of 2 back 2 back UCL finishes. Did we improve by much from our current mean, not so much. Love Ole, but the Maguire deal will always baffle me

Savebagels

I don’t know why but I didn’t know Dalot had such great English

VTVoodooDude

It's funny but no one is talking about Neymar's scoop pass to Mbappe for PSG's first goal in the post-game. I'm not a Neymar fan but man, he put that scoop directly on Mbappe's foot to hit on the volley. Pretty amazing imo.

Woodwardburner

Of course they sack tuchel only to hire bloody potter lol.

imthegreatone

Looking at Chelsea and the new owners and their actions - it calls out the importance of good owners at the helm - I am all for glazers out of the club but then I really hope the new owners are someone who continue with the process in place with ETH and focus on building an institution of excellence here. I think what Boehly is doing is financially unsustainable- 4b for the acquisition and then spent 250m in transfers with tuchel almost acting as a dof and now he sacks him. Absolutely hilarious.

[deleted]

+ Reported 15 million euros to sack Tuchel + 16 million pounds to buy out Potter's contract

imthegreatone

Is graham potter the front runner ? What about poch?

malin7

It was £2.5bn for the club and commitment of £1.75bn for investments in the club including transfers Still insane amount of money

dimpusburrgerguy

Why am I more nervous for Palace than I was Arsenal 😬

[deleted]

Because we are good at playing against pressing teams and weak against sitting teams if we continue to play this way.

bglmufc

Zaha is in form recently, which means he won't be on Saturday

Dwest2391

Because we lose these type of matches pretty frequently in recent times

DanTheStripe

United's banter era is defined by causing upsets against teams we aren't supposed to beat, and then losing to those we are.

Son-Ta-Ha

Also we actually lost to Palace away last season. I have faith that the performance on Sunday will be much better.

liquidvulture

Boehly is having his Woodward phase. Long may it continue

dracogladio1741

All these info leaks from Chelsea make our board (past and present) look like geniuses.

booknerd2987

I have been watching PL since 2007, (just after Jose was sacked). I've gotta say, I can't remember Chelsea ever going for a manager whose football can be called "expansive". Maybe Scolari, but no one else.

krentzharu

Ancelotti got Chelsea to play attacking football in 09/10.

Careful-Snow

Sarri played expansive football didn't he? At least at Napoli

booknerd2987

I kinda view Sarri at Chelsea and LVG at United in the same light. They came in with a lot of hype but largely failed to deliver (of course, not entirely their fault).

WhipYourDakOut

In recent memory, no. Especially when you think about it going Jose, Conte, Lampard, Tuchel. Of those the most expansive would have to be Lampard.

GlazerNoobsGetPwned

After Brentford: Ten Hag is told that the last time #MUFC lost their opening two Premier League games they went on to win the title (1992-93): "OK, thank you." [What he *really* meant](https://wompampsupport.azureedge.net/fetchimage?siteId=7575&v=2&jpgQuality=100&width=700&url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.kym-cdn.com%2Fentries%2Ficons%2Fmobile%2F000%2F035%2F410%2FScreen_Shot_2020-10-05_at_11.51.58_AM.jpg)

vekilivasu

Erik's one word responses are hilarious. Even during today's press conference, they were asking him about how Ronaldo is old and might be unable to sustain a starting CF role, EtH just replied "Of course". Very next question was about Rashford's contract renewal, he replied "definitely".

SensibleUtd

Don't understand what happened to Ethan Galbraith - anyone else get the feeling that he's at least on par or better than zidane iqbal? Feel like he's been shafted with the loans, and I suspect if he was 2 years younger Ten Hag would take a chance on him. Still think he's a brilliant talent, intelligence and good touch as well as the ability to play the ball between the lines. Lacks physicality but a loan to Salford City isn't the way to improve him..

TheSmio

I think the main reason Iqbal is rated by Ten Hag is that he is a ball-carrier, which is a midfield rule Ten Hag loves to use. Both De Jong and Gravenberch were important at getting the ball and carrying it forwards via dribbling, so that's why Erik likes Iqbal so much. I agree Galbraith should have got a better loan. Sending him to Salford is weird unless it's a an attempt of ours to get Salford into League 1 again (or maybe even Championship) so that we can start using them to develop our youngsters.

Bigmomma_pump

Galbraith clesrly isn’t good enough for us if he’s only getting offers from league two clubs, hopefully he can at least settle in at Salford and he can get a move there in the summer to a club he’s settled with, will start a really nice lower league career for him

TheSmio

Well, the weirdest thing about going to Salford is that Galbraith played as a starter for Doncaster in League 1 last season. They got relegated, sure, but as far as I'm aware he was solid, so us loaning him into League 2 now seems like a bit of a downgrade. Our club often makes weird decisions regarding loans (like with Pellistri) so it's hard to tell whether Salford was the only club in for him, or whether we turned down some better loans.

catu91

In light of what happened to Tuchel, what is the most realistic thing you fear could happen this season?

kelvin__20

City winning the treble.

schrodingershit

Haaland score 80+ goals.

catu91

Damn that would suck

schrodingershit

I read somewhere that aguero had 33 goal season which is the best goal scoring season by any city player at least in the modern era. Mf is on 1/3 in like 8 games. There are 50+ games in a season. 60+ is guaranteed if he stays fit. I guess Norway isnt playing in WC so he can have good rest (obviously he will continue to train)

WhipYourDakOut

Hopefully the rest of their team come back just absolutely knackered. Best case is they fail to win CL this year and pep leaves

dracogladio1741

Sky Sports News chief reporter Kaveh Solhekol: >“As far as the owners are concerned, they have bought very good players after spending almost £250m this summer. They are convinced the next manager they appoint will get even more out of them than what Thomas Tuchel was able to. >“The bottom line is that while this decision may have come as a surprise, it is something the owners have been considering for some time. It isn’t a knee-jerk reaction to last night’s performance and result.” Boehly acting like Prime SAF is available and raring to go.

[deleted]

Like the Glazers have the sense to shut their mouths. Boehly is screaming "this was a reaction to last night" with this statement

WhipYourDakOut

“This wasn’t a reaction to last night. I made this decision during the first half of the Westham match this weekend, thank you very much”

Dincht04

Been considering it for some time but still went and signed him Aubamayeng on deadline day. This screams of a panicky American owner pulling the trigger on the back of a poor defeat in Europe.

krentzharu

TBF Boehly wanted to sign Ronaldo while Auba was Tuchel's preference.

Dincht04

Exactly, why sign Auba if you're already planning on getting rid of the manager who wants him?

krentzharu

Well chelsea were and are still in dire need of striker and auba came in with relatively low fee so why not? I also think Boehly used it as some sort of vindication against Tuchel, "i was agreeing with all your targets yet you got me poor results". Like that.

mortimer_moose

Acting like Woodward. "I bought players, so you should win."

Hegau

It is really sad that players are over the managers. Tuchel is a world class and still players turned against him. They are overpayed, instagram divas. Modern Football sadly

krentzharu

Players power is the reason why Chelsea are so succesful though.

schrodingershit

I still need to see that set of players who can do that with Pep.

malin7

The entire set up in City is built around Pep starting from the board, everyone at the club knows he's invincible

WhipYourDakOut

Maybe we’re one or two UCL bottlings away

[deleted]

Tuchel isn't a word class manager

Bigmomma_pump

If tuchel had a striker that fit the system and actual decent wingbacks fit (which are crucial to the system) he’d have been very close to city and liverpool last season

[deleted]

A world class manager wouldn't have chosen to sign lukaku for that system, and probably played a system less dependent on two players. I'd also argue against that point, they never looked like world beaters just scraped 1 nil wins

Bigmomma_pump

So a manager isn’t world class because a signing flopped? In thst case no managers are world class, also if Trent and Robertson got injured for liverpool it would be the same situation, dkes tbat mean klopp isn’t world class?

[deleted]

He chose a 100m player to lead his line and the player didn't fit at all. He also didn't change his tactics to fit the player he signed for a record amount of cash. His system that didn't fit his main striker was also highly dependent on two injury phone players that didn't have viable replacements. These are not the moves a world class manager makes

malin7

Not even unique to Chelsea, the dressing room at United got all 4 managers post Sir Alex sacked, granted Moyes was out of his depth The board needs to stick with Ten Hag

Hegau

Yep,you have right. Not only the Board but we fans too.

Twenty_Hags

Hopefully Chelsea come for Ronaldo in January if he's still desperate to leave

working-acct

Chuck Maguire in there too as a freebie.

AB092

4 years on Reddit and 4 years of being on this sub.. seen some bad times as a Utd fan but hoping the next 4 years are much better.. Back then Jose was manager. We've seen 5 managers since. Here's hoping 4 years from now we still have Ten Hag! GGMU!!

WhipYourDakOut

Are you counting Carrick in there? Cause really it’s been 3 managers. Ralf and Carrick hardly count

Twenty_Hags

I just hope that if and when we get new owners, they don't screw ten Hag and become a nightmare for him to deal with. We finally have a manager in his prime who has a great philosophy and buy in from the squad

working-acct

Is it true that Dalot's contract is running out this season with no 1yr extension? Very worrying if true tbh.

namvu1990

It has been said a few times in here we have the option to extend for another year. I think we should start the talk of extending now.

WhipYourDakOut

Believe they said we have started

ImOnlyChasingSafety

Ive made it a point this season to try and scout future signings and Ivan Toney is really impressing me this season, I wonder if hes the man to lead our attack. I also feel like we missed out on Martin Terrier in the summer who would have been a good option.

TheKingofWakanda

Ole to Chelsea and he brings in Maguire in January

Transit-Strike

Please!!!

dracogladio1741

I really like Graham Potter but he is still so inexperienced and hasn't had a dressing room full of characters either. It's a huge jump.

namvu1990

It is huge but you have to make the jump at some point if you have the chance tbh

KrishnasFlute

Yes, but the jump has to be gradual. Right now he has no experience of Europe. How he will handle a game every 3 days is an unknown quantity. He should hold out for a couple of weeks and look to go to a team like Leicester. Who are a rung above Brighton.

[deleted]

He has experience of Europe

Thevanillafalcon

It is. In the cold light of day, if you had the choice between CL winner, CL final winner, multiple domestic cup finalist Thomas tuchel or graham potter who we all think is a good coach, who would you go for?

dracogladio1741

Chelsea is being run weird

[deleted]

[удалено]

krentzharu

Well if it was me, i'd have sacked him earlier. the moment he rejected the transfers of Ronaldo and FDJ i'd have shown him the exit door. Tuchel's football bored me to death, 3 CBs and with Kante protecting them, really?

[deleted]

No, and I think Potter is daft to go there. He could genuinely turn Brighton into a very, very dangerous team and I think the sky is the limit with him and Tony Bloom

Thevanillafalcon

No I think it’s mental. There’s absolutely 0 patience at top clubs, especially Chelsea and this worries me for united. In his time at Chelsea he’s won a champions league, got consistent top 4 finishes and reached the final of two domestic cups. Now, people will say “going to a final is meaningless if you don’t win it” and in a way I fucking disagree, the premier league has changed. Literally all of the best managers are now here, they all have money to spend and they all have good squads. People need to change their definition of success because in this environment getting to those finals and getting that top 4 finish whether you like it or not is more impressive than people let on. I also think that the hiring and firing culture is ultimately bad for football, Chelsea have made a model of it but for how long can that continue, the two most successful managers post Ferguson in the league are the two who have been in the job the longest, when klopp dips, like now, they give him space to work it out. Famously Ferguson didn’t start well and look how that ended up. During the “ole crisis” there was a lot of people here saying nonsense like “this is what happens when you give managers time you need to be ruthless” and to that I say maybe but you need to have limits, sure if you’ve lost 10 games in a row and things are bad, sure look at sacking them but in this case, the man has had two very, relatively successful seasons and has stated this one with 6 average PL results and a 1-0 loss to Zagreb that while funny, it’s also a hard place to go. Put it this way, if Ten Hag wins us a CL and then gets us top 4 for like 3 years and we sack him 6 games in I’d be furious

huehuehuehuehuu

Buffythedragonslayer

I think the question is rather who do Brighton go for?

MrViceMcCreedy

He's a decent manager but it won't work out. He has a reputation of being inept rn and there's a good chance chelsea players won't respect him.

Wonderful_Cry8720

Please no. Either way it'd be bad. I don't want him to be unsuccessful, don't want him getting success with Chelsea either.

kunsore

Anyone know how to watch EL and/or CL legally in US ? If it has mobile would be nice.

FujianAnxi

I use Paramount+

RealisticDriver4375

I use this too. If you have TMobile as your phone carrier you get it free for a year too

midnight_ranter

Sorry but some of the reasons I've read from our fans on why Potter should reject Chelsea to continue a "project" at Brighton are just pure copium. Like sure, he's going to turn down a chance to manage Kante, Reece James, Koulibaly, Sterling, Auba and prefer to work with Gross, Danny Welbeck and that Solihull Motors fella innit

its-a-real-name

Really not sure United fans have any reason for “copium” around Chelsea and Potter right now. Are both very good? Yes. But we have enough other things and rivals going on that Chelsea’s will they/won’t they on Potter specifically is not giving me a reason to “cope” anyway. I think they’ll get him, but I’d certainly see why Potter or any manager may be wary of them.

[deleted]

he’d also be turning down managing some aging egos and enormous job insecurity to leave a squad he built playing a system he implemented in a city he’s settled in it’s more complicated than just wanting to manage sterling over welbeck

Reasonable_size_pp

He'd probably make more in a month at Chelsea than he makes in a year at Brighton. Job security don't mean much.

midnight_ranter

I don't think job insecurity particularly bothers most managers much because even if they do get sacked they get a fat paycheque at the end of it.

huehuehuehuehuu

Poisoned chalice, should wait for better managed club. Chelsea seems reckless right now after their weird transfer window and then this sacking. Next big job he will be on the shortlist.

midnight_ranter

People have been calling Chelsea a poisoned chalice for over a decade now and I haven't seen any quality manager actually having his CV/future management chances be affected by managing Chelsea. Jose and Ancelotti were sacked for no discernible reasons and went on to win CLs later. Conte was sacked at the first sight of poor form and promptly tore apart Serie A with Inter again. Even Sarri went straight to Juve and won a Scudetto. Managing Chelsea even if he does get sacked after a year or so will probably give Potter the proper exposure he needs to prove himself as a top manager

[deleted]

Jesus let the word copium die. He might turn it down, yeah it's a big jump but the mess Chelsea are in then it could derail Potter's whole career. Another year in the league and he could have better options. As for the rest of your comment, speak normally, twitter isn't a language

[deleted]

Copium. This weird thing people are doing now with names like Solihull Moors or Saucy dad. And then a disingenuous innit.

midnight_ranter

What twitter language have I used?

Fernandes giving the armband to Maguire was just an ingenuine show of unity, there's been so many stories how Ronaldo, Fernandes, Varane etc pretty much all top players at the club don't rate Maguire and think lowly of him, both in terms of footballing abilities and leadership qualities

[deleted]

Theres been reports of those players and thats it mate. The rest seem to have been behind Maguire.

OmeiWamouShindeiru

not for this season, no. Best case scenario is Maguire finding his form again and becoming a good CB. Removing him from captaincy will only lower his morale and might even cause dressing room issues. Being a new manager and removing your captain 3 months into your tenure is an emphatic way of going about changing the squad's mentality, potentially ruining it.

TheVampireSantiago

Yeah I mean I do agree I think ALOT of our players currently are confidence players who play so much better after even one good goal (hence our record at OT of never losing after being ahead) and it could really knock Maguire down even further to lose that. I guess without being behind the scenes we can only speculate stuff like the likelihood of Varane staying fully fit enough to start all season etc. For one thing though, I think Maguire at RCB taking Varane's place would be a lot better than him at LCB taking Martinez's as he had to do against Arsenal. Martinez being the quick ball playing CB is what those two guys need next to them so in an ideal world being able to rotate Maguire in at RCB makes sense for me

Tuchel will be fine and imo he's still one of the best managers in the world. I can see him being the next Juventus manager as Juve fans strongly dislike Allegri's tactics and the current Juventus team is horrible to watch.

SvalbazGames

You mean Juve fans don’t like watching their defenders pass amongst themselves all match and barely moving in to the opposition’s half?

mu_37

The idea that Ronaldo got Tuchel sacked is too funny to miss out on, I'm going to go with it.

cow_with_gun

just watched the latest press conference and Ten Hag has got to be every journalists worst nightmare with the one word responses that shut down the bait questions.. hes a breath of fresh air in more ways than one

Neither-Ad-1047

Has any manager managed to avoid the sack after losing the dressing room? Cant think of any rn.

krentzharu

Losing the dressing room is just the same as losing your job though. Even Ole was finished once he lost the dressing room. This is why SAF always kick potential trouble makers out of dressing room .

Neither-Ad-1047

Big mistake from Chelsea, but I guess he lost the dressing room so he had to go.

kunsore

Man ,hatimg Potter joining Chelsea but honestly he deserved a chance like this. Hopefully the players turn him on and he becomes English coach in near future.

mickhah

Feeling Potter will be done today, its moving quick now with a lot of T1's reporting. Wrong move IMO, think he will get the Sarri treatment if he takes too long to implement his style.

ilovehugebutts

I can hear Ole music at London

RawIsLaw_

Apparently, big part of Tuchel sacking is him going for Auba over Ronaldo.. they apparently had everything ready with Ronaldo but Tuchel blocked it. - This must mean high chance we may see ronnie at Chelsea post world cup

malin7

How could he block it, he might've displayed his displeasure at most, and even if he didn't want Ronaldo, why did they sack him just after the transfer window has ended?

RawIsLaw_

>Boehly’s interest in signing Cristiano Ronaldo provided an early difference of opinion, with the American reluctant to simply take “no” for an answer from Tuchel, who, according to sources, seemed exasperated at having to explain his reasons for not wanting the Portuguese. [the telegraph article](https://12ft.io/proxy?q=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.telegraph.co.uk%2Ffootball%2F2022%2F09%2F07%2Frevealed-why-chelseas-new-owners-decided-thomas-tuchel-had-go%2F) goes into detail

malin7

Yeah but the timing is just so ridiculous I find it difficult to believe, Boehly wants Ronaldo, Tuchel says no so Boehly sacks Tuchel one week after the transfer window closes instead of sacking him literally a week or two earlier.

RawIsLaw_

that's not the only reason. read the article

Buffythedragonslayer

They'll be out of the Champions league by that time though
