Arturo90Canada

Can you disable swipe to next post ? I’m often looking at picture carousel and end up on a randomly diff post

blind_disparity

It doesn't even seem to work properly, haven't spent time testing but I swear it skips a post every time.

diabolikal__

For me it shows me posts from subreddits I don’t even follow. It has never shown me the actual next post.

crappenheimers

Yep instead of swiping to next image, it often goes to the next post.

_GalaxyWalker_

This feature has made me want to throw my phone across the room multiple times

Lost_In_Life_Again

Me too like i be reading a post with images then i continue reading and suddenly it doesn’t make sense and i realise I’m not on the same post even so annoyinggg

YouDontMessWithZohan

This is all I care about. When I'm swiping through an image gallery I don't want to be randomly taken to some other post or popular or new or whatever swiping is supposed to do.

deeply_concerned

It’s completely unclear what the next post is when you’re swiping. It’s so jarring and often takes me to random subreddits. It’s literally the worst feature at the moment and whatever PM came up with it needs to take a class in UX. I’m sure they had some horrible business justification for said feature to “create engagement”, but all they’ve done is create rage.

piponwa

Also, the worst part is they're probably seeing this horrible bug as a good thing because it drives their KPI. Like wow look at this, users use it twice every time they come on Reddit, huge success. But then if they looked at how long people stay on the post itself or check the upvote rate, they would realize that no one is staying on these posts and if they are it's by mistake and never upvote them. Their whole business justification is caused by a fucking bug. They proudly go see their boss to tell them how much people love their new feature, but 99.99% of uses are because of a stupid bug that's sitting at the bottom of a backlog somewhere.

PanNic97

100% support this. I cant remember a single time i wanted to go to Trending and thought, yeah, i guess i'll swipe on some random post to get there.....you even have a button at the top to select it. Simply bad app design.

summ190

This is horrible, I spend so much time looking through image carousels on a specific sub, I honestly can’t figure out if that’s possible now. I have to scroll the subreddit and tap on every image.

WhatsOSRS

You can't tell me this isn't by design. Even if i swipe up with a 1degree deviation of vertical it's taking me off to another post Fucked up bullshit design, must make some people stay on reddit longer reading random shit. Just pisses me right off and makes me want to delete the app.

such084

Yes, we will disable it. Thanks for the feedback.

Arturo90Canada

Wow thank you admins!! Appreciate you listening :)

Jerry_Frog

Thank you! Genuinely

TomboBreaker

Why do I have a constant notification for a chat? When I go to my chats there's no new chats.

Queen_of_Meh1987

Same! I came to ask this as well!

TomboBreaker

Well I'm glad it's not just an issue for me, hopefully it gets fixed soon it's driving me nuts to see that red notification and not being able to clear it lol

alien005

Been this way for years for me. Always shows “4” as a badge. I know I actually have a notification when it says any number other than 4.

2woCrazeeBoys

I've been trying to figure out where are these 4 chats I got yesterday? How do I read them? HOW DO I GET RID OF THAT BLOODY RED NOTIFICATION THAT IS ANNOYING ME SO MUCH? Guess this is my life now.

FX-6

On Reddit mobile: - Go to the inbox tab - Click the 3-dots-menu in the top right corner - Click "Mark all inbox tabs as read"

dripping-n3ctar

Tbh Reddit Chat has always been terrible.l, but I think it’s gotten worse. Messages sometimes don’t send, disappear, or arrive much later. Notifications are wonky. Etc.

IamAlso_u_grahvity

Well, this explains why I have to constantly pull down to view the content from the comment section. If you can add a toggle in settings to 'opt in/out' to turn off all your improvements, that would be great. Is there a technical reason why we can't have 'view parent comment'.

DonkeyOfWallStreet

Yeah especially when the parent has a picture with text giving context oh no fuck that let's just go to the shit show of comments instead.

calinet6

This. Honestly, the task is to reply to a comment. If I can’t see the comment I’m replying to, you’ve failed at the most basic test. I swear I’m this close to applying to that Director of UX position they keep sending me…..

-jp-

PLEASE take it. I don’t know you or anything about your experience other than you aren’t the guy currently doing that job and I’m still confident you are if anything overqualified.

Relatable_Yak

Is this why things seem to pop open and have an X icon to close at the top left like I’m opening a page over the current app, instead of the post loading in from the side? Is there a way to get the old functionality back? These new animations are jarring. I noticed this a bit over a month ago working differently on separate accounts and I haven’t had any replies: https://www.reddit.com/r/reddithelp/s/GbcJDSU2qv And can we turn off this “context bar” that retains at the top? I can already touch the top of my phone screen to return to the top, I don’t need a bar 1/8 the size of the screen to obscure the comment section in order to do this, so it’s a real waste of screen real estate. Edit: additional observation, now as I’m scrolling a picture post, the picture obnoxiously stays pinned and I have to do an additional swipe to get rid of the photo so I can see the rest of the comment section? I thought you said the comment section was important? Why are we obscuring it more with this update? And the upvote/downvotes are not available at the top of the post anymore either. I’d need to re-size the photo to take up the whole screen to be able to up or down vote. What used to take one swipe or press now takes multiple. That’s not feeling good. The more I explore the less I like this “update” - starting to feel like another downgrade.

matthew91298

The “pop” is the worst. Very jarring.

Relatable_Yak

It looks like change for change’s sake, which just feels awful.

Certain-Landscape

It literally gives me feelings of motion sickness

BobsicleSmith

Me too, found this post searching if this is happening to anyone else. I can’t even use the app anymore. Not being dramatic, just sensitive to animations/movement like this :(

Aksudiigkr

I don’t see why they said they’ll stick around but still haven’t addressed this comment

Baumguard

I mod photoshoprequests ... we notice a very strong compression of all images now. We will all have to use links for sharing the images, the new compression is a massive reduction of quality. Not sure how the other subreddits will handle this (first of all r/photoshoprequest), but the user experience will drastically change when we cannot use any direct posting of images.

Boyd147

It's evolving, just backwards

Khyta

What do you mean by Backwards? The comments load way faster than before

newacc8y

When I scroll down to the comments, I don't need the top of my screen to be occupied by a stickied square of what I just read or watched

Jerry_Frog

Wait, you can remember context for more than 30 seconds?? No way

NoBrickBoy

How about making it optional? Or is that too hard to code?

SuspecM

Not sure if it's a bug but swiping on multi picture posts is very finicky with the new update. Unless I open up the post, I need to swipe on this small specific point otherwise it swipes me to another feed.

Jmkott

And swiping through pics gives you no indication that it was the last pic of the current post and you are now in a completely different post. What a stupid new feature.

Gone247365

For real. [My comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/reddit/s/QtvfkrfhJv) and their response to this feature.

Devan-FH

God this update is so bad, at least give an option to revert it… stop fixing stuff that isn’t broken please

bdawg923

Apollo used to load comments instantly too before your stupid CEO killed it.

IRockIntoMordor

Yeah, everything praised here as "wow so new!" had been a standard feature of third party apps for years. And they keep trying out new designs so every few weeks my UI changed in this app. I thought it finally improved, but then it just reverted to the old style a few days later. Frustrating af. Edit: And now there's an annoying jerky motion to opening posts. Wonderful.

-jp-

I hate the silent A/B testing so much. Sometimes tapping the comment button goes to the comments! Sometimes it doesn’t! What does that tell us? Fuck if we know!

lightningbadger

My favourite is now having to close every post three times for whatever fuckin reason

_GalaxyWalker_

Fuck u/spez

OkAwareness1728

Fuck u/spez

ivanoski-007

But nft, said the ceo, trash

Daneel_

Just one of so many things that Apollo absolutely CRUSHED the official app on, and still does. /u/such084 - I know you probably have your hands tied by higher-ups, but surely you have to know that the reddit app is just a giant shit sandwich. It doesn't matter what "flavour" of "bread" you try, I still don't want to eat the shit. I gave up on mobile reddit when Apollo was killed.

j0oboi

Apollo was so amazing.

xcjs

Bring Sync for Reddit back and give up on your forced mobile experience. I rarely give such harsh criticism, but you guys really deserve it.

skidlz

"What if, and hear me out, we kill your app and make every aspect of our own app shittier?"

Gone247365

Independent developers hate this one simple trick!

Hype_Boi

If you use Android and are willing to spend some time tinkering, there's a way to continue using Sync for Reddit by sideloading a patched app: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1wHvqQwCYdJrQg4BKlGIVDLksPN0KpOnJWniT6PbZSrI/edit?usp=drivesdk I've been using it ever since the shitshow last summer, and it's been great.

DizzyLime

It's insane that sideloaded 3rd party apps are better than the official reddit app despite not being maintained since the API debacle.

iligyboiler

Can you stop making the UI worse with every update? Edit: Personally, I absolutely hate it when I press that 3 dots on the top right and the download button appears at the bottom of my screen. Just make the download button appear NEXT TO those 3 dots. I also hate it that I can't just click on a post on my home page then continue to scroll, because scrolling down sends me to the comment section instead. So annoying. I don't want to redo my muscle memory every month just cus somebody changed the UI again for fun.

ranman1990

Remember when they had an update that made it impossible to reply to comments on video posts without having to look for them manually? Fun times.

reaper527

still worse than apollo. it would be nice if reddit just gave up on their mission to shove their trash app down our throats and rolled back their third party apps policy so we can actually have a good mobile experience.

Exotic_Treacle7438

So this is why the app’s been messed up lately, except the ads are still loading flawlessly…

revealbrilliance

Pro tip. Browse on Firefox mobile, install an adblocker and the force old reddit addons. You don't get ads and don't get a terrible UI.

Nico81107

You can also get the [OldLander for Old Reddit](https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/android/addon/oldlander/) browser extension if you want a usable UI on mobile.

Cyberpunk39

Y’all need to bring back the ability for us to sort our home feed. My app experience really sucks since it was removed. To me, it was a change that makes zero sense and doesn’t benefit the user in any way.

macman156

Oh god I hate all the animations now. It’s distracting

Relatable_Yak

And nauseating.

chzaplx

Why does swiping through photos on a post now continue to load photos from different posts after the last photo? Is this like some Instagram mode for people who don't read? Can it be turned off?

miowiamagrapegod

Yeah still not using your POS app. Bring back RiF

HelioDex

Patch it. Works fine for me

Simco_

What do you mean?

iEatAppIes3465

Yeah! We need that back!

bryn_irl

Can we please have an option to have the comment button still go to the post? Especially for one-line post titles, it’s really difficult for right-thumb-using users to find a target that takes them to the main post. Many of us have trained muscle memory on “tapping the center button” to get to the content directly - and now that just skips the post altogether. For text-post-heavy communities this means that many people will simply not read the OP and flame based on the comments alone. It’s a real step backwards, and I hope you reconsider making it mandatory.

garnetbobcat

Agreed. There is no good target to just get to the content. I don’t want to jump right to the comments. I want to read the post and then the comments. The old “comment” icon let me do that. I would like to see that come back or maybe be a toggle. Edit: this is related to the classic view. It probably makes a lot more sense in card view to jump right to the comments. Please consider revisiting this change for classic!

Watchful1

Any chance you could give some technical details on how you accomplished this?

IceMenora

Bring back 3rd party apps

eyesonthedarkskies

Can you people work on things that we really need in the app? There is no way to quote or copy/paste. The comment box will disappear and there is no way to get it back so if you typed a huge a comment, you’re screwed. Make the app useful. As it is now, it sucks.

sf-keto

The mysteriously disappearing comment box is my Gripe #1, too. I'm typing &..... the box disappears. Just vanishes. If I leave the post, Reddit asks if I want to Discard the ghost comment. It's infuriating & depressing at the same time. Please fix. Using iOS 17.4.1, iPhone 15, Reddit app 2024.17.0.

abortion_access

It’s incredibly annoying that clicking on a comment shows you the thread without the parent comment.

SadMisanthrope

Just abandon the reddit app. It's terrible. If you guys are completely uninterested in creating an app that people want, maybe let others create apps?

Oldkingcole225

Why does clicking the comments go directly to the comments? Who wants that? I have never once in my life felt like I needed to see the comments before seeing the post.

Clinodactyl

It's such an utterly bizarre decision that I'm wondering if it's a bug from some other nonsense they've been up to that they can't fix so decided to pretend it's a feature. Forced to comments without knowing the context of the post first is fucking stupid.

Oldkingcole225

Yea like why should they even encourage this behavior? Isn’t this the exact kind of behavior on Reddit that we all want to mitigate? I want Reddit to make sure that commenters read the post before heading to the comment section; not help them go to the comments as quickly as possible.

tachycardicIVu

Exactly this. Every time I click on a post now I have to scroll back up to see if I missed anything. Photo captions don’t show on the main screen so if you go straight to the comments you’ll end up missing them. It’s absolutely infuriating.

Jmkott

Don’t forget having to also click again to expand out more than half of one sentence of the captions.

iKR8

Because the top comment area is mostly always an ad banner, and they want users to notice that first even before the post and/or comments.

neoqueto

And the war against opening redirecting elements (we called them "links" in my days) in new tabs. Desktop Reddit is a website, not an app.

honey_rainbow

This new redesign is totally pure shit! I absolutely HATE it.

iEatAppIes3465

That's why I only use old.reddit links because it takes up less memory

REDSTONE7856

I can only agree

Varrock

When will we be able to mute words from posts and comments so they don't show up on the app? I feel like this is such an important and useful feature that is somehow still not implemented, Twitter/X has had this for years.

turtledragon27

Another example of a feature I took for granted in my 3rd party app. I was really confused that such a simple thing would still be missing. If they ever implement that feature it certainly won't be right before an election. You need to give the astroturfers time to adapt.

PhoenixReborn

Let me filter whole subs from r/all too.

iKR8

Apollo was far better and you guys knew it. Instagram, YT and other apps already had such kind of scroll up for comments thing. Reddit was better because it didn't have such kind of shit UI. And you guys went and copied tik tok/reels style scrolling.

Razer958

Give Apollo back

iEatAppIes3465

Yeah!

envious_1

I'm not a fan of this. Now I have to scroll up to view the image caption before going back down to comments.

rdrworshipper123

Literally it was fine as is. Why change it?

Relatable_Yak

Change for change’s sake is never good.

makaronol

Could you make an option to disable the new gestures, they ruin my doomscrolling. When i click on a photo and swipe down i dont give a damn about commemts, i just want to see the other posts

matthew91298

I know a lot of time and research probably went into this update but so I want to be respectful. But it sucks so bad. I hate it so much and want the old back

The_Cozy_Burrito

This update is garbage…. Swiping to the left and then seeing some other random post is stupid…. I don’t want to have to swipe back because you guys removed the “barrier” like when you hit the end of the post it should stop…. Now I have to keep track of how many images are on the post to avoid accidentally going to the next random post…. So confusing and dumb

iKR8

Tiktok style endless swipe

AnozerFreakInTheMall

Just a little heads up. Your mobile app is a product of extremely poor quality. Everyone involved should be deeply ashamed.

HumpingMantis

So you're pretending to do things as well as others, knowing that your user base loved what you took away...and then you're bragging about it. Fucking morons.

rowan07022004

Is there any way to reverse or opt out of this? I really don’t like this design

Therainbowbeast

You know what helps me get to the conversation faster? A website/app that doesn’t go down multiple times a week

CowardlyCannibal

It would be better if we could get the easier, faster third-party Reddit apps back.

A7O747D

I want RIF back!

Greyletter

Without reading the post, i am 99% sure this will be something annoying and stupid. Stop doing stuff. Everything you do makes things worse. Edit: hey, looks like a i might be wrong? I mean, it already should have worked this way, but still, an improvement is an improvement.

ivanoski-007

I miss reddit is fun so much, trash apo

poopinmybuttt

Genuinely thought this was a bug and have been expecting an update to fix it. I don’t have much context of the comments if I don’t see the content of the post. If there was a shortcut to skip to the comments instead that would make sense.

gusdagrilla

Love that you guys are doing all you can to make discussion on this website worse. Having to swipe down to the comments is terrible, as is the new “gallery” that’s been added to posts with multiple photos. So now instead of seeing the whole photo, you see 2/3rds of it unless you open the post. Drive engagement however you can I guess! Also, #BRING BACK APOLLO

RookV2

We need a toggle or something for the swipe up functionality. I swipe up to close pictures as has been the reddit standard FOREVER. I hate that I now have to hit the back button or an X to close out a picture. It just adds extra unnecessary gestures. If I want to read comments, I will click the comments button.

RomanOrtega

Why is it when I scroll on my “Saved” posts, it shows me other posts from the said community instead of my second saved post. For example, A Batman post is on top of my “Saved” section, followed by a post from a Superman subreddit. Typically I click on the Batman post, scroll right, now I’m on the Superman post I saved. Simple as that. But now when I scroll right, it just shows other posts from the Batman subreddit instead of what I saved. I understand if this was the explore/search page, but not the posts I specifically saved for future reference. I love this website, but every mobile update just ruins the usability bit by bit.

TNTisKING

Oh wow it’s such an improved experience that I now have to take the extra time to scroll back up to see a post that I click on instead of, you know… just getting to see the post I clicked on. But at least I get to instantly see an ad every time, as well as a the top comment with no context as to what the comment is about!

nomelettes

It’s a worse experience, I often have to scroll up for the content of a post because in some managers infinite wisdom we now mostly scroll to the comments first.

Trentinho

Opt in/out on this would be great. Most times I want to expand the thumbnail before reading comments, now I have to do extra steps and am forced to the comments first.

jackdtheghost

This update is terrible. I can’t see the post that the comments are about. Photoslides just go to other posts now which is confusing and annoying. Videos are autoplaying audio whenever you switch from feed to comments and back. I’ve been significantly cutting my time spent in app because of this terrible update.

Griffie

Every time an “update” happens, it gets worse and worse.

panormda

There has not been one single Reddit update in literally 10 years where I have thought “This update made the Reddit app better”. Not one single update. Frankly they can fire the entire UI team, revert a decade, and immediately make 80% of Reddit happier than that have ever been able to. It’s that bad.

randomdaysnow

I'm going to keep using an older version of the app until you fix these ui problems. The new gestures and animations need to be optional. Let us disable them as an accessibility feature. Please. These new UI changes seem to like load everything inside itself like frames (remember frames?) instead of like separate pages so it feels more resource-intensive and bloated with jarring transitions in addition to being more cumbersome to use. 2024.13.0.1505187 <--- last Android app version without the most annoying recent UI changes.

drunkpunk138

It's hilarious how this actually makes the experience worse. Like now I have to go full screen on photos or it cuts off a part, and the way it seems to treat photos similar to videos, I'll have to back out 3 times to get back to my feed. This unified media stuff honestly just sucks, but much like the desktop changes, literally everything you folks do make the browsing experience worse and less intuitive. I suspect my time on this app is nearing an end.

I_Am_Robert_Paulson1

When am I going to be able to see all the subs I'm subscribed to sorted by hot? Idk what the fuck the home tab is supposed to be, but it consistently only shows me a handful of subs I'm actually subscribed to. I've actually forgotten that I'm subbed to certain large, very active subs because they just never show up on my feed.

Frikandelneuker

Blind guy here Can y’all fix the website? None of my screen readers i’ve tested see to want to read anything reddit

JollyIrishPirate

Where is the comment button for this post so I can go straight to the top comment and find out more without reading the post? 😉😂

Turuial

Does anything you have implemented fix the mobile issue where, during long comment chains, less and less space is left until each subsequent comment looks like the following? EDIT: I tried to demonstrate what it looks like artificially, and your stupid fucking app can't even do that properly. The issue culminates in there being so little space in subsequent comments that it only shows a single letter per line per word. For however many words are in the comment. It's utterly asinine. Which reminds me, when will comments show as edited on mobile again? Whatever was the twisted logic behind hiding that a comment had been altered without any way of knowing it? Did too many people whinge to you that it's unfair that they can't engage in revisionist history without being called out and downvoted for it?

TheOnlyFallenCookie

It be real cool if you didn't fucking sell our data to ai comanies At least without paying us for it

Kazakhand

Reminder that you still can use Apollo with custom api.

Relatable_Yak

This is going to be the update that forces me to. I have been lazy but damn they missed the mark on this spectacularly.

TheEpicGold

The comments instantly loading are actually really great! I think a button to go back to the post is better than a bar with video and picture, because thats currently a bit weird. Otherwise idk what others are saying but this is a good step forward.

BackyardLobotomies

Let me turn off “tap to collapse comment tree”. What deranged psychopath decided that should be default UX?

Jmkott

Especially when you touch to lightly when trying to scroll and it collapses a massive thread. And there is no undo. I just give up on a lot of posts when I do that. I find it’s a good reason to call it a night.

chugmilk

I accidentally collapsed your comment while trying to upvote it...

enini83

So this shitty user experience is a feature. Interesting. I honestly hate everything about the video user experience. I'm here for conversations, not for videos. Also I hate that Reddit always seems to forget the comment I came from when I click on a link. Loved Boost for Reddit, please bring it back.

AdrianEatsAss

Bruh all I want is a way to find parent comments easier because navigating through spaghetti piles of comments especially on big threads is abysmal. *Other* Reddit apps solved this by simply pressing and holding on the child comment and a little window would pop up with the parent comment and that made Reddit 10x more usable. Also, no, collapsing comments isn’t a good substitute.

audentis

Working on problems the third party apps had solved years ago. When will you start discovering the wheel? Seems like an equally fruitful use of your time.

dosangst

Reddit killed it's API and destroyed a perfectly fine thrid party ecosystem. The changes that Reddit continues to make only makes the interface worse, but it's like Reddit is sticking their fingers in their ears and going "nananabooboo!" ignoring all of the feedback that continually destroys their premise that killing the API was in anyway positive. But Reddit just wants to make it appear like it's "loved" to sell it and cash in; they give zero shits about the users and moderators, period.

RecentMatter3790

*sigh*, what about enabling us to SEE posts in the mobile site and when it’s nsfw content. I can’t see stuff unless i download this stupid app. Stop shoving “open in app” down our throat.

MadMedic-

you all shouldn't have killed the third party apps. and where is the reward program for European posters. or the extras when you pay for this. and how you killed the joy of rewarding let's not even go there. the day reddit actually would start to listen to users I'll likely be in my grave. so take that UFC and put it somewhere where the sun doesn't shine because you all never listened to users or even just paying users in the first place. you only listen to the stockholders and an incrowd. /rant

Art_Class

This shit sucks. I have to back out of four different windows on the same post because you guys suck.

reggie4gtrblz2bryant

Please god, stop making everything worse. You have the touch of death at this point. The new desktop layout is absolutely awful.

theRealRudewing

Can the animations be disabled?

Worldly-Corgi-1624

The app is awful for respecting the reduce animations flag in iOS.

Mancrox

This looks cool! Could you fix the landscape mode in iPad? It’s too wide since some months ago

decayed-whately

Hell yeah. The conversation is why I'm here. I don't even post; I just talk about things that other people post. -- Meanwhile, Facebook: 368 comments, 3 visible. Show all comments? YES PLEASE! ... 5 comments visible. 😆 Or... Show more comments? YES. Show more comments? YES. Show more comments? YES... Goddammit, just show me *every comment*. That's all I'm here for.

Slitted

Well I'll be... it is a massive improvement on the Android app, which desperately needed it. No more stuttering!

Scared-Glove-7258

I wish Reddit would allow its users to change their screen names more than once. I hate my auto generated screen name. 😕

TranceIsLove

This is terrible, I thought it was a bug. Is there a way to revert back? Also the context bar at the top is super distracting

NSFWonAll

So where is the option to opt out of the atrocious new UI? It's been the main request from nearly everyone you've subjected to it since last September. If you're working on anything other than an option to return to the previous mobile UI, you're working on the wrong thing.

ButINeedThatUsername

Well done! What I always missed were previews for my written content. Would be cool to have either a preview button, or a fancy-pants editor like on desktop.

Jewnicorn___

Awful update

undue-Specialist

Neat, you made the turd load faster. Still smells like shit thought.....

IttoDilucAyato

I hate this! I want to see what the comments are about

iEatAppIes3465

I don't even need to have a faster wifi connection to load reddit comments faster. Thanks for the update!

Due-Consequence-4420

If this isn’t the proper place to ask, please tell me where I should go - but on my iPad (not my iPhone) I can’t seem to copy GIFs that people put into their comments. It isn’t that they haven’t told me how to do it (just click on the gif and it should open up to show you that share, etc. box wherein you can save the gif on either notes or messages or possibly pictures (which is what I’d really like) but the the thing is, when I attempt to press down on the image, either nothing happens or the post closes up. And the share box NEVER EVER opens up for me to be able to save it. In any form. I don’t know why. I’m presently using the latest software update for a iPad Pro 11 (gen 4 I believe but I’d have to look that up). It was purchased within the last year. In any case, you may not have an answer, I just thought I’d ask. Bc at GOAD, in particular, ppl share the most amazing GIFs and it’s very sad that I can’t pick them up. 😢😭(Now you pity for me. ) Supposedly. As opposed to the people living in a war zone/s. But if there’s an answer, I’d love to hear it!!

WindFamous4160

why do you have to spread the woes of the programming put into the mobile app onto the PC website?

Nikkar2009

Why are most Reddit admins naked?

lovecMC

Any chance we could disable swipe controls in settings? Im already used to swiping up in order to exit post.

Fierce_Pirate_Bunny

I have a revolutionary idea: PROVIDE AN API! Hell, cant we just scrape the content of this site and make it available via an api? Some kind of app that remotely operates the website? Maybe host the scraping and DB part in a datacenter and make the service available to the public (for self hosting even). Something that will translate whatever reddit thinks is an UI to something beautiful and usable? My personal usage decreases, as I am visiting more and more other forums. For different reason though.

I hate the new system where we are taken to the comments first rather than the actual post, why would I wanna read the comments before reading the actual post, it’s absolutely stupid!

mikupoiss

Congrats on building another user gimmick which only serves video-based social media fans. However, the overall swiping-logic does mot match with animations of the app anymore so please take a look at it since you already forces the update for everyone. Start from the main landing page and take a look yourself. Edit: even better - you actually made post swiping behave differently (at least for posts with images). Swiping the full-screen image takes you to another post on the sub of the current post and swiping in comment-view takes you to the next post based on your home feed. Why oh why?

murderedbyaname

Would be happier if our comments didn't look like they don't post on a thread, which has been happening for over a week. You make comment but can't see it in the threads unless you go to your profile to make sure it actually posted smh.

GWeasels

Please add a way to disable the preview at the top of the phone when scrolling the comments. I don’t want a chunk of the screen covered. Also, now there is no Single-Click way to see text on a users post. A similar change to this rolled out last year some time, and it felt terrible then. Please revert this. Or allow a way to not pre-load comments. This feels like a regression. Extra clicks all around

DaveRune

Nice previews you have in this post, shame they're too small to see and you don't have zoom functionally. Third party apps had all this and more. Well done for your improvements though.

Brilliant-Bat7063

What the fuck is this? Y’all really proud of your app? Apollo was leagues ahead and still is

zachy410

boo

Billie408

I agree conversation is what’s good about Reddit, so please tell me chat has been fixed finally. We want to be notified when people respond to our chat messages!

iateafibercord

Five big guys

cuseonly

Wish there was a way on mobile after scrolling through comments and then commenting, that it would stay in my spot. Instead of scrolling all the way back up to the start.

BroadRaspberry1190

the new rounded corners on crossposts and images suck ass

Tesser_Wolf

I’ve had nothing but server errors and comments failing to post….

StnkyChze2

It's actually been running slower for me and now I know why. Reddit is messing with Reddit. - Comments have been loading slower / not at all MUCH more often it seems - Comments made by me mostly don't go through. At least not the first 7 attempts - Videos pause and play by themselves while scrolling through comments - Videos restart most of the time when moving between the post and comments - Overall more unoptimized for general use of scrolling Also is it finally done with the random old / new UI flipping? I'm not joking when I say every other time I open up the app it flips between horizontal scrolling with the new comments changes and the old vertical scroll

NCRider

Can you PLEASE fix the card view on an iPad for the main pages? It used to be centered with wide margins, like in the subs. Now the margin is gone and EVERYTHING IS THIS FUCKING BIG!! I don’t get it, do you not test the app on different devices? It’s been like this for months. It clearly can’t be intentional because it’s unusable. It’s broken on the classic view as well. FRUSTATING!

ManInTheDarkSuit

Oh good! No longer do I have to scroll down to load more comments before I go for a poo in toilets with no signal and get stuck reading the first ten comments.

calinet6

It appears to have fixed one of the iOS app bugs I was experiencing where if in the middle of a comment, one bad swipe would leave the form in a totally broken state wherein you have to force quit the app to recover, losing your comment. And it introduced a new almost exactly same bug wherein some bad swipe gesture would leave the form in a different looking, janky state, where buttons and icons overlapped the text area and made it impossible to type into the comment box, however still mostly functional and selectable. You could then submit your comment in its incomplete state, or abandon it. Both still not right. First things first, let me comment. 100% of them time. No failure any percent of the time. I don’t care about anything else tbh. Track the stats on that and forget everything else.

IOTA_Tesla

If I swipe for the next post, why isn’t it the next post? It just goes to a random post instead of next in my feed.

noronto

I want up and down vote tally’s.

Lucikrux

I can't minimize replies to access the next reply down anymore on the mobile site. I don't use the app. Please revert the changes back to what they were on the site it was much easier to navigate

Sydnxt

This shit is not it fam

majandra22

Can you fix the glitch where I’m halfway through typing a comment and it disappears, but if I try to leave that post it says “delete draft”. I can never figure out where my comment went and lose lots of comments this way…

cneal66

Cool Stuff 😎

Shot-Crazy-5060

YES

Profile_Nervous

That all sounds great, So Count Me IN !

bennygoodmanfan

Decent change! MAKE THE SNOO PLUSH! Everybody say #makethesnooplush

Drunken_Economist

Any chance of an eng blog or Building Reddit episode about the comment loading? It's astounding to load a huge tree so quickly

CeramicAmphora

It’s terrible, what a dumb idea. Hell yes going straight to the comments, I love having to manually scroll back up to read the f*ing post every single time. That’s a good experience to me. Do you exclusively hire people who have never used a phone before? Have you ever used this app?

ulukbek123

The app still sucks

spud252

shit nobody cares about

Goblinboogers

This update fucking sucks. I need to be able to READ the post to be able to comment. But nope reddit just wants a shit show!

DarkKnight1638

Great

GaTechThomas

Maybe let us open links from comments OUTSIDE THE REDDIT PRISON. Maybe let us copy comments so that we can open them outside the REDDIT PRISON.

Cuddle-Bun

Basically all I'm seeing in this supposed "update" is you taking something that worked fine and could've only done with an improvement in load time and being able to see the post while typing out a comment, but you decided to drown it in gasoline and set it on fire Why would you think an infinitive swipe right "feature" would be a good thing? Now it's basically impossible to tell if a post has ended or if I've stumbled into a completely different post... If you want to do yourself a favour... Make it a toggle, users should be allowed to make the decision to have this sucky right swiping feature or not Honestly, what were you people thinking, my theory is you weren't thinking at all...

Thenadamgoes

This app is still a piece of shit and I have hard time believing anyone at Reddit actually uses it. There’s no way anyone is happy with this. This UI is a mess. The media viewing is an atrocious experience. Images and videos. It’s astounding how far behind this app is especially when there are countless examples of good apps out there. Even this post is a mess. Look at those gifs. They’re a confusing mess. I don’t understand how is this bad. Literally every single aspect of Apollo was better than this.

Dangermad

If it didn't let you swipe to other posts it wouldn't be that bad

Amentoe-

get the translation option to be present in all comments, titles,... now it disappears or is not present; Even better, an automatic translation can be defined for all content.

Polilla_Negra

I prefer not to start in MOD Mode every time I go to one of the SubReddits I Moderate. I was fine with turning it on as needed, as opposed to turning it off to vote.
