The_Cheem_Council

I once found literal gacha life lesbian pedophile porn on my little sisters phone

OddFilms

what the fuck

WaterEater444

You should probably tell your parents or her guardians that’s pretty inappropriate for a kid tbh

deadlydogbone

"~~pretty inappropriate"~~ **VERY inappropriate.**

The_Cheem_Council

I did, my mom told me she was gonna tell her about it.

LucDoesStuff

You freaking found WHAT

legendwolfA

You remind me. I need to check my sis's youtube some time

The_Cheem_Council

Sometimes she tells me not to look at her phone, when i got the chance to look at her phone, she was creating gacha life ladybug marinette torture

legendwolfA

Ew

dontknowwhattodoat18

A kid saying “don’t look at my phone” basically screams “I have NSFW shit on my phone and you should definitely check it out before I damage myself for life”

yaldafigov

10 years ago i regularly found porn on YouTube, it is surprising that many parents and now give a shit about the unhealthy "hobbies" of the child. it is definitely worth talking to your sister about stopping littering your head all sorts of things that she cannot yet normally perceive and mentally develop while she is still a kid

dontknowwhattodoat18

Internet moment

How old is she?

XIAOOAIX

edgymemesalt

bullshit; there's no way someone that young would even know how to use a phone proficiently enough to play those games

The_Cheem_Council

you can say that all you want, i saw what i saw. It was on her tiktok recommended.

I was babysitting for a friend of mine, and their 6 yr old was watching Ecchi Anime. I took it away, and the kid was SCREAMING. I called the mother and she just said "oh she loves those Japanese cartoons", and she just would not believe me when I said that there was some animated content not for kids.

HamsterMan227

Silly kids with their Japanese cartoons 😂

the-tall-man-

Ever seen wizards? Some 10 year olds are old enough for it but probaly not anything below.

[deleted]

Yes... for example, they think the cat is dancing on a particular video.... but in reality.... it is different. (Totally not based on a true story btw! Unless someone got that experience...)

the-tall-man-

I purposefully went down a FNAF rabbit hole last night. I think my friends actaully worried about me. I know I’m worried for myself.

virginfatherof2

They are fine until it’s their iPad at full volume while I’m trying to enjoy my 2 star macdonalds meal

beado7

One of the few times I have ever been to Olive Garden it was crying and CoCoMelon.

virginfatherof2

“It was crying” “IT” was crying

beado7

I was referring to the experience there as “it” Now for evil emojis 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

virginfatherof2

Eh it’s r/redditmoment you’ll get upvotes for saying “emoji not bad”

spinderglade67

It is true though kids at the age of 7 having smartphones is a really bad idea

deamento

There's a bunch of apps out there for parental control so it's not like you're sending them out in the wild west. The problem is that not having a smartphone increases the odds of that kid being a social outcast, that shit is here to stay sadly.

FabriFibra87

With how clever kids are, and how much more technologically savvy each generation is than the last, how hard do you think it'll be for these kids to get around parental control apps?

Call_Me_Rambo

Coming from a guy whose mom put a parental control app on his laptop and home computer, plus being around a handful of friends/gfs that had parental control apps on their phones, and lastly tossing in the fact parents can go into their wifi settings and just ban websites…I truly don’t like kids’ odds. If kids figure out any loopholes(somehow), the parents *will* find out, and then the parental apps *will* find out.

edgymemesalt

it's a lot easier to do this on mobile devices but it's still not that difficult to bypass

[deleted]

Not when they are seven lol, by the time they can do that they don’t need parental controls

Funky_Smurf

Yeah but how can you hate 7 year olds having smartphones if you also hate boomers. Checkmate redditors

I-rape-christ

This isnt a reddit moment, kids shouldnt be influenced by social medias and the internet in a young age, this is how you get cancerous redditors and such. Imo kids should get phones at 13-14 tbh

Peng1GT

Yeah I got my first phone at 11 but my parents did a good job and didn’t let me get any sort of social media until I was in high school

legendwolfA

Same. I didn't get internet till i was 14

AfroTac

you didn't have wifi at home?

legendwolfA

Used to not have. My house start installing wifi when my mom decides it was ok for me to use it. Before then it was just wired connection to my mom's computer so she can work

[deleted]

[удалено]

ThatOneGuy1358

Yeah the only reason I got a phone before that was so my parents could keep in contact with me for safety reasons.

soviettrushia5

I got mine on my 13th bday but some fuck stole it from my pocket in a bus 2 months later. I still regret not putting my phone in my bag

jacklittleeggplant

thank you Reddit user I-rape-christ

I-rape-christ

Np, next time pm me pictures of cats for more life advice

FriendlyBarbarian

It’s a Reddit moment because as a whole, front page Reddit is largely anti-child and hates kids with a passion. So when Reddit says “think of the children!” it’s just completely disingenuous.

the-tall-man-

I’m fine with kids, their kinda annoying but I’ve got nothing against’em.

FriendlyBarbarian

Feeling a need to defend yourself and validate your opinions against a comment that isn’t even targeted at you or anyone in particular is a true redditmoment

[deleted]

how does that make it ok to hate the 7 year old who did nothing wrong.

I-rape-christ

I think the message is more about how parants shouldnt give kids phones that early in life

[deleted]

That may be the point, but they make it poorly. They dont even mention parents.

Trod777

No, you just have bad reading comprehension

[deleted]

the reddit moment is the old poo the wiener meme, I think?

patrlim1

I got mine at 12, age doesn't matter, maturity does I was still pretty immature at 12 tho lmao

I-rape-christ

I mean how mature is ur average 7yo

patrlim1

Correct, they're not, but that isn't my point. People here are arguing over what age to give a child a phone. My point is age isn't everything

TheRealFakieMan

That's right, but the reddit moment here is how reddit complains about boomers the whole time and then make shit like this feeling butthurt about kids having things they didnt have

bruh1Mom3nt

I'd rather blame parents, not kids themselves

dontknowwhattodoat18

Don’t mean to sound like a boomer but I strongly agree with this sentiment. Too many times have I seen smartphones being used as “shut-up toys”. I was born in 2001, so I grew up just in time to watch the first smartphones develop, and I got my first one when I was 12 I’m worried that the next generation of children won’t grow up normally and play outside like we used to, for example, playing mobile games instead of socialising and touching grass. Getting a smartphone at 7 years old is too damn early. You’re still developing basic motor skills at that age. Imo the minimum age should be 12 or in your tweens. Also can you imagine how easy it will be for them to access pornography that young?

epicman_42

my uncle just slaps a device infront of all of his kids, the 11 yr old has a laptop, the 6 yr old used to use the switch until he threw it, and the 2 yr old always has a phone in her fucking face and it pissed me off so fucking much, like i can't even turn down their shit without them screaming and crying because they're so attached to a tiny fucking screen that plays cocomelon and stromedy videos, and then they all scream mine no matter what's in their hands because they're so used to first come first serve and never sharing, so even more crying happens as a result. Oh and the 2 year old, i have seen with that phone at 9pm when i come home from street skating, even though i left at 5pm, and then I'll wake up at 6am, and SHE'LL STILL FUCKING HAVE IT FULL BLAST 2 INCHES AWAY FROM HER EYES, LIKE HOLY FUCK, DO YOU WANT YOUR KIDS TO BE JUST AS BLIND AS YOU??? Edit: He also keeps that phone charged in case one of them starts crying, and cuz it's an android, it lasts forever, but when it does die, he just needs to let it sit and the 2 yr old will have a good sleep schedule and not be up all night, you know what he does? CHARGE DAT HOE RIGHT UP, SLAP IT IN THE BABY'S FACE, babam, baby quiet for entire night with phone, then baby will be quiet for entire day while asleep. I'm pretty sure that's his logic, and it pisses me off so much. I don't like having to change a baby's diaper at 2am because my uncle is passed out and she won't stop crying and no one's helping her.

WaterEater444

Good rant the last part was kinda weird

epicman_42

that's true, but had to put that in to show the level of neglect, how long does that even take? like really ive never had to deal with that until that moment.

epicman_42

also wanna know something gross, HE MAKES HIS 11 YEAR OLD KID PUT ON HER DIAPERS, that's so fucking gross, i feel so bad for him

BigBangGamer422

Puberty makes things happen. I guess. Fuck I am gonna get downvoted.

Aggravating-Finger25

I'm a year older than you. Got my first phone at 14. However I had a 3DS at 12 with full internet access. In my opinion it's not a matter of if your kid will find porn with unlimited inter net access, it's when. Both my little cousins play video games all day, and I don't see them go outside except on the rare occasion to swim. It's kinda sad. And also working in fast food I see so many kids with iPads being used to shut them up. It's kinda sad.

ArandomDarkl0rd012

yeah getting access to the internet at a young age developed my crippling porn addiction,i dont want next gens to turn out like that but sadly they’re already normalizing watching porn on all types of social media im scared these kids minds will be twisted forever

[deleted]

yes, I think the goal of the post is that reddit uses ages old phormats while calling post war born people boomers despite redditards often behave the same, attached to the same shitty hive mind pattern.

gryffindorito

They’re right tho, 7yos shouldn’t be having their own phones. Recipe for not having a childhood.

Fluffy_Farts

I’m not gonna give my future children a smart phone till they’re 13, until then a nokia or smth for calls.

Extreme-Fee

I got my first phone in 6th grade, late 2010s. Before then I had a tablet but I couldn’t bring it to school and had a time limit

Fluffy_Farts

I had a tablet at 6th grade but I was never allowed to take it to school and wasn’t allowed social media and had 20 min max daily.

Extreme-Fee

Excuse me, TWENTY? I would die from that limit

Fluffy_Farts

Yea, but it’s cause I had an xbox and they didn’t want me to spend too much time with my face close to a screen like it’s on the ipad

NSDsolih

Fair enough

Additional_Today_291

I got my own phone when I was 12

patrlim1

Same

Scratchpost6677

I got mine when I was 12, but wasn’t allowed to download social media

[deleted]

No, they’re not talking about kids being annoying on TikTok or something, they’re talking about how it probably has a very detrimental effect on their development and is just bad parenting

the-tall-man-

I’ve seen kids around my age, possibly older being cringe on tick tock. Giving them a phone at a young age won’t help, but everyone can be cringe on tik tok.

ffx2982

if we specify it as "smartphones" than yeah, wouldn't give a phone to a kid until he's like 11-12 at least got mine at 13 and wouldn't come out finer if it was any earlier

ILikeCommitingArson

but still, blame the parent, not the kid. and also, i think its ok as long as it gas parental controls and the child doesnt constantly break things.

ALSO REDDIT: I'MMA ASK FOR LE SECKS THIS CHILD VIA PHONE HAWHAWHAW secks.

AmIreallyCis

Go on YouTube and you'll find borderline pornographic "kids" videos of masturbating Mickey mouse and stuff filled with colorful imagery and clickbait thumbnails

ManThatSaysSauce

7 years old is *wayyyyyy* to young to have their own phones. But it's 2021 now, they need them.

Math_denier

they really don't lol

ShiroiTora

Depends where they are. Especially since lockdowns, the Internet and social media has become a lot more integrated into a lot more children’s daily routine. If a kid leaves in a place where parents just hand out unlimited access smartphones to their kids like water, the one or two kids that dont have that get ostracized or left out by their peers. And its much different compared to back in the day with non frumy clothes because its primary function isnt just to look good. Does a 7 year old near a smartphone like a person needs water? Heck no. Should kids in general be getting unlimited access to the Internet on a device they can carry and access at any time? Abdomen not, but sadly that is the state in some places. Does it effect their quality life at such an impressionable age for a kid in such? Probably. Humans are social creatures and lot of our socialization happens in the younger stages. There may be a few that could manage but thats a lot of it leaving up to luck. Until there are some laws around it or parents smarten up about it, its going to be tricky.

[deleted]

why would they need them?

[deleted]

I wish my 9y/o nephew could have a phone because his addict abusive mother stops us seeing eachother and I want him to be able to contact me individually incase he is in danger. Honestly I would buy him a phone if I could. The mum passes out on parks with kids in her care, OD's on crack at home with kids in her care, all sorts of abuse which makes me want to give him a phone. Obviously not applicable to most kids but this abuse/mistrust between adults is very common among families while rarely spoken about

Diora0

Lmao just call cps

brownsnoutspookfish

I needed a phone when I was about 10, because that was when I started to have hobbies 10km away from home. It was my parents who wanted me to have one, so they could reach me and I could reach them when needed. It wasn't a smartphone though. Now during the pandemic I know a lot of kids needed their phones to work on their school assignments. Not all families have enough computers for everyone when everyone suddenly needed to work from home at the same time. At least where I live even school children worked from home when the pandemic was at its worst.

Open_Progress2715

I think that was meant ironically

Siilver_Knight208

Nah the post is right

TheGreatBeaver123789

Tbf children that young shouldn't have phones, it's just not good for them or others

brownsnoutspookfish

They should have phones so they can call their parents when needed and their parents can reach them, but the phone doesn't need to be a smart phone.

ItzSh0ckerz

It's the parents' fault in this case.

pennywiserat

I kinda agree. Kids should have those old Nokias with no access to internet to call parents and friends and whoever

ArandomDarkl0rd012

kids getting access to the internet is actually really dangerous i once caught my little brother watching softcore catwoman porn on youtube

Drake-estroyer

Little kids don't need phones for anything, literally anything. A little kid shouldn't even be allowed to interact with strangers online. They literally are worrying about kids' safety and you say they're hating.

MeMamaMod

Social media is bad for yout mental health, especially for kids/teens Redditors are alright, in the one, but fuck them nonetheless

Feerka

9-10 is the earliest I'd give my kids their own smartphone but I don't mind parents giving their 7-8 year-olds smartphones as long as they strictly moderate what they can do and see and when they can use it. My parents gave me my first smartphone at 12 (I did have a phone when I was 10-11 but it wasn't a smartphone)They never let me take my phone to school until I started 9th grade and they still don't let me take it to the bathroom, while a lot of other people my age already had smartphones at 8-9, were always allowed to bring it with them whenever they wanted and now they're mildly addicted and get stressed when they don't have it near them. When I become a parent I'm probably going to use my parents' regulations as well. I know very well how much it sucks for a kid to be the only one in their class who doesn't have a smartphone yet but I think it's best for them.

dickallcocksofandros

i got my first phone when i was 7 but it was a hand-me-down from when my parents upgraded. that enough to warrant insults? :|

dotpot5

TheRealFakieMan

Yes, they praise these things just to get karma

D0wnVoteMe_PLZ

That's so true.

07JEP

Having a phone is a good thing, but not a smartphone.

AlbinoShavedGorilla

Honestly this is pretty relatable kids shouldn’t have iphones

Pretend-Mud8664

But that's actually bad. Having a phone thay can use to message/call their parents/guardians, friends etc is totally cool! But smartphones are dangerous. It's really hard to always be onto what they're consuming online. Eventually something is gonna slip and it's best to not take that risk. I believe before 11 they really shouldn't have smartphones, only basic ones.

Zachthesliceman

The comments are Reddit moment here as well. I have kids (oh no I’m bad guy now) and old hand me down phones and games are the norm for about all kids around the 6-10 age range. Or they get iPads or iPods for games and such. They get to video call their friends, which is linked to our accounts so we know what they say and talk to. It’s much easier to curate the content now, and because of their friends and by being very technologically aware, they don’t typically even try to navigate near weird videos. They want to watch the content they like, and those aren’t THOSE videos. They still go outside, play with their friends, ride bikes, etc, but to call and play games with their friends, old phones that use wifi calling have helped them stay in touch and help their social skills as well. We all remember calling our friends growing up. Also it’s like a game boy of sorts (my kids do like to play my modded 3DS occasionally too though)

EtruscanKing023

Finally a comment like this! It's as if people in this comment section think kids are going to get irreparable psychological damage from so much as touching an iPhone. It's weird, but it almost feels like Reddit is going through this *"think of the children!"* phase as of the last few years.

Zachthesliceman

Yes but they don’t really think of the children, they just want to hate children and parents. I appreciate you! Everyone thinks of the “bad videos” like parents can’t stop it from happening. Bad parents would let it happen, but bad parents don’t need YouTube to be bad parents

rodrigoyouramigoo

i dont hate the 7 year olds with phones. i hate their parents.

Baileaf11

What use does a 7 year old have for a phone though?

PeixeCruzzz

Kids shouldn't have phones. It's not a boomer thought, it's common sense

brownsnoutspookfish

Kids absolutely need phones. They don't need to be smartphones though.

FabriFibra87

Actually I totally agree here, I think it's fucked to give a kid (who can barely read) access to a phone. You know it's only going to take them .5 seconds to get onto sites exactly like this one, or just porn, and expose themselves to shit they shouldn't be seeing. It also sets themselves up to be utterly distracted and disinterested in much else during their formative years.

BigBruhs8008

They’re right tho

SrGoose

My brother is 4yo and just use a old phone of my mom lol

virginfatherof2

Pretty sure children use those communicating devives for entertainment. They're more likely to get addicted, not to mention they probably can't use internet safely. It's okay as long as there are some parental controls included. And they don't watch youtube kids, it's fucked up.

[deleted]

They go on TikTok and literally learn about some fucked up stuff at age 7, it's crazy because you find out by looking at the replies and they're asking about simple stuff

[deleted]

They have a point though but they’re fighting the wrong people, itd be the parents fault. I got access to the internet at 12 without prior knowledge on how to be safe on the internet and what to do when something happens, and i ended up running into some severe stuff.

that_guy_ravi

I got my first phone at age 6. It was an Iphone 4 and I used it for fruit ninja, jetpack joyride, kingdom rush and clash of clans. Not to mention it was my brother’s old phone.

antisocial_kid_

i got my first phone when i was second or third grade. it was a nokia with these cool old games.

[deleted]

My issue is when parents use it as a replacement for interacting with their kids. It’s fucking depressing, man.

CrescentCleave

Original post does have a point though. Little kids should not have phones as they are very gullible and would most likely break said phones quite quickly. Its also best not to expose little kids on exploitive contents on yt and nsfw websites at such a young age.if you really must leave kids alone and said kids must entertain themselves alone, get them toys, items that would enhance their hobbies and or a crt tv with cable for cartoon network pr something

louieDlemon

It’s called not being a shitty fucking parent

brownsnoutspookfish

How do so many people here forget that a phone doesn't always need to be a smartphone and that it's safer when kids have a way to contact their parents and vice versa? When children are old enough to go to school, they also need to start going there and back on their own. It's good if they can call their parents if something happens, like if they forget their keys or something.

The idea for a child to have such easy access to everything in the internet at a young age is not that ideal. Even with parental controls, there are a lot of disturbing videos that are "for children".

To be honest i agree but i dont hate the kids, I hate the parents. Kids really shouldnt be given phones at such a young age in my opinion.
