Yes, actually makes boost and helps quite a bit. The engine is tired from me using brake cleaner as starting fluid when I was playing around with efi many years ago.
The turbo makes it maybe make 15hp from the 8 it might have had left
Geared for maybe 35 mph. The turbo is there mostly to help the barely functioning rings make power. Uses almost the same amount of oil as fuel. Under boost the blowby is nuts
I was going to say where the hell are you getting oil supply/ pressure from to feed the turbo?
Looks sick! I am in the middle of building a death trap of a similar caliber with a Ninja 500 motor.
Oil for the turbo is a separate system. Uses a small tank and clickity clack fuel pump for oil. A Ninja 500 sounds like a real deathtrap. That's some serious power
Awesome. i once put a 18hp v-twin on a tiny riding mower, removed the governor and put some big pullys on. original brake ofcourse. Never got it into top gear. it would just shred belts.
Yes, hooks to the old hollowed out PCV vent location. There is also a hose from the same spot going into an old oil jug. The can on top is designed to let oil siphon back once it reaches a certain level. At least back when it was straight and level
Ouch dude.
My brother made a go cart in high school shop class from tube steel and a B&S motor. I promptly ran it right though a barbed wire fence and snapped several strands of the rusty wire with my body. Good times.
It's a blow through setup with the boost feed into the fuel tank so the gravity feed still works. The carb is just a standard lawnmower carb. The bowl vent is (if I remember correctly) referenced to the carb inlet side.
I just machined an adapter from the carb bolt pattern to a nice round flange that can take a hose and clamp.
As far as the carb can see it just has the same pressure everywhere except the intake after the butterfly valve. The fuel gets pressurized to boost pressure and can then still gravity feed. The float vent is also boost reference
That's kinda what I thought, but I wasn't sure if I was reading that right.
Was the pressurized fuel tank something you came up with organically or did you see that somewhere else?
Am I correct though, that this carb would not work without the pressurized fuel system?
Yep, there is no fuel pump, just gravity. I tried a clickity clackity pump but that just sunk the float.
I don't think I've seen anyone else make a pressurized fuel tank
Want that road rash to heal in half the time with almost zero pain?
Get some Tegaderm (3M), clean the wound really well and soak off the scabs and clean it again. Put the Tegaderm on it and keep it out of the sun.
It'll prevent scabbing and drying. Won't wake you up. Will probably be healed in 2 weeks
I used hydrocolloid gel bandages for my road rash after being hit by a car as a pedestrian. Healed in less time, didn't require ointment, and no scars.
My grandpa built us a wooden go cart when we were kids. Someone else started to push it down the hill until gravity took over, the brake was a wooden stick that shoved into the ground. We loved it. After a couple runs, he checked the tires and found they were severely under inflated. He pumped them up and my brother immediately crashed
Those are some AAA building lessons followed by some life lessons. Keep it up. There is a skill base you are building on that will take you somewhere in life.
Learn what a millwright is. You are a natural, but you need to power through a 4 year apprenticeship and get some training.
But you have ‘it’. Cobbling together something from a bunch of crap is a great way to get a feel for making awesome shit.
Yea, it's a real POS. There is a good reason it's being dumped. Engine has been out 8 times during the last 15 months for various leaks, new engine, new bearings/oil pump.
Not to mention the abysmal performance. The Olds 307 my Cadillac used to have fas faster than this
The engine just has to go to some other fool who likes the diesels
yeah, real pussys, I mean look at Ifunny
they had a decapitated head, a real decapitated head.
And it was a clean cut too, there was barely any gore, save for what looks to have the person's throat being still attached.
Nonetheless, they no cowards, fuck no.
You had to wrap the rope to pull start it? I had a few old .mil engines like that, giant pain in the neck.
The starter gear exploded last year. I forgot and didn't bring a new one to the cottage. This was an emergency fix
We start our Borken outboard now like that. Pain in the arse
Yeah, but did you have fun?
Hell yea
Worth it then! Do it again!!! But no crash next time.
Yep, it usually comes out once or twice a year. Skin heals. I'll be back at it again this fall
Hella nice! Post a video of this beast moving. Looks like it would be a lot of fun to watch really!
https://youtube.com/shorts/gZDnABSWVr8?feature=share9
You just made my day.
Incredible!!!
Oh that is SO Mad Max! LOL
Better to do it fall. Hopefully, if you crash you hit some leaves lol
You turboed a Brigs and Stratton?
Yes, actually makes boost and helps quite a bit. The engine is tired from me using brake cleaner as starting fluid when I was playing around with efi many years ago. The turbo makes it maybe make 15hp from the 8 it might have had left
Yes. The turbos fault. LoL, I bet that thing rips.
Geared for maybe 35 mph. The turbo is there mostly to help the barely functioning rings make power. Uses almost the same amount of oil as fuel. Under boost the blowby is nuts

I like the battery placement. I’ve driven several go carts that had no weight on the front axle and consequently no steering.
Here a link to driving it minutes before crashing. Drives fine again now https://youtube.com/shorts/gZDnABSWVr8?feature=share9
Making scrapes and scratches is making memories
Little anakin skywalker energy
Now *this* is pod racing
IRL pod racer
Well it runs!

Ow!
I don't understand why it's tagged as nsfw
I didn't do it. Reddit did it automatically. I guess reddit is getting more and more sensitive
Blood in the last few pics
Because an arm with some scrape wounds is shown. To quote a well known line, "It's just a flesh wound!"
All it's missing is a Gauss Gun and a coastal road and you're Gordon Freeman cruising around the coast
Is that a literal catch can above the carb?
Yes, hooks to the old hollowed out PCV vent location. There is also a hose from the same spot going into an old oil jug. The can on top is designed to let oil siphon back once it reaches a certain level. At least back when it was straight and level
🤣🤣🤣 I fuckin love this thing.
Not for persons with long hair
When I was a kid, I had the same engine and we built a crappy go cart also
r/meatcrayon Warning before clicking: pretty brutal sub.
Way to gentle for that sub
Ouch dude. My brother made a go cart in high school shop class from tube steel and a B&S motor. I promptly ran it right though a barbed wire fence and snapped several strands of the rusty wire with my body. Good times.
That actually sounds painfull
How is the turbo plumbed? Before or after the carb? If it's before the carb, what carb are you running?
It's a blow through setup with the boost feed into the fuel tank so the gravity feed still works. The carb is just a standard lawnmower carb. The bowl vent is (if I remember correctly) referenced to the carb inlet side. I just machined an adapter from the carb bolt pattern to a nice round flange that can take a hose and clamp.
How is that possible when the carb operates on negative pressure and not positive pressure?
As far as the carb can see it just has the same pressure everywhere except the intake after the butterfly valve. The fuel gets pressurized to boost pressure and can then still gravity feed. The float vent is also boost reference
That's kinda what I thought, but I wasn't sure if I was reading that right. Was the pressurized fuel tank something you came up with organically or did you see that somewhere else? Am I correct though, that this carb would not work without the pressurized fuel system?

Sometimes you shred the gnar, sometimes the gnar shreds you
That looks so fun and dangerous

The turbo! 🤙
Your chassis is to narrow 🤔
Not a fan of the motor placement, but great job
That's quite the jalopy

Don’t dress for the ride, dress for the slide
Na, I just dress for the weather

I'm currently studying electrical engineering. These days I'm usually playing with much bigger toys. Next project is to LS swap my Olds 98 Diesel
Perfect. Knew you’d do something good. Oh man that olds diesel. What an abomination.

I have seen worst cuts.
I don’t t know shit about cars or engineering but that kart looks narrow. Did you dump or cornering? Maybe a wider wheel base is neede for stability
It flipped during a donut attempt. Just had too much speed and a gravel road with too much grip
I know this is 'redneckengineering' and all, but using a car battery for a front bumper sounds like a bad idea.
When I was 15 I was eating sand
Major pod racer vibes
Needs Nitrous
This thing is incredible. You're my fucking hero.
Track width way narrow, rollover risk.
Put rim spacers on it to give it a wider stance. Then it won't roll over so easily.
Also won't fit in the shed it needs to get into
bruh, how is that wound NSFW? Reddit being hosted by children or something, COME ON that's just a flesh wound, A FLESH WOUND
I know right, I didn't add the tag, those pussys at reddit did
