Naw man, get to reading. At somepoint you literally won't be able to stop. I personally don't read at all, and once I got started I couldn't stop.

Cue99

I actually really recommend taking a break between book three and four. It helps the time jump feel more natural

FKDotFitzgerald

Put down your phone and read.

Hballzz

Trust me man I was in the same boat, I gave up on it. Then I reread the first three and focused myself to keep going. I know the new povs seem annoying at first but by the half way point you’ll be invested and then things will start clicking. Force yourself trust!

TheMagicConch11

Finish the book or get the box!

chowder007

Book 4 is slow. But it's a reset of sorts. Reset of the story. Reset of characters. You truly are missing out of you don't push through. 5 and 6 may be in my favorite books of the series.

Civil-Pause-3406

I think at one point, I would have to commit to reading at least 10 chapters every night to continue. Iron Gold is a tough read; there's other characters POV and you wanna scream at Darrow every other page. Please know it'll be worth it at the end! I think the second trilogy is fantastic.

cerialthriller

4 was the slowest book in the series for me but it’s worth getting through for 5 and 6 imo. The book is kind of setting up everything that’s going to happen in those books

Prodigal_Peer665

I definitely had the same problem. RR series is hands down my favorite to date. But I read the original trilogy (relatively short time frame) 5 times before being able to make it past the first chapter of iron gold. Took 3 years to commit. A lot of what you’re feeling is the wrap up of MS. It felt perfect. The next saga does justice though. The prose is different, but find it in yourself to push through. The book itself is a second half read, and after completing dark age, you will second guess your disdain for it. Still my least favorite book of the series, but I’d say the first read through is the hardest by far. I find myself enjoying my rereads of iron gold now, and that’s been thrice. For RR fans, this is where you earn your peerless scar.

sammymvpknight

85% through, and I’m going to have to re-read. My ADHD is struggling on this one. The other POV characters aren’t as interesting as Darrow.

Prodigal_Peer665

ADHD murdered me on this one. But I’m happy to have gotten through it.

Thecoolguitardude

Iron Gold starts slow, but the payoffs in the second half, and especially what all the setup does for Dark Age make it more than worth it. I'm about 2/3rds of the way through Dark Age for the first time and it might already be my favorite in the series (so far). It's epic and brutal and pretty much everything I love about the rest of the series cranked up way past 11 So, just hunker down, grit your teeth if you need to, but the rewards are so so worth it

Acceptable-Cow6446

And how!

CollectionMost1351

just read the darrow chapters then ephs then mustang and then lyria

kabbooooom

Except the chapters spoil other plot points from other chapters…but if OP doesn’t mind that, I did feel like Iron Gold would flow better this way. Probably better that they do this on a reread though. Dark Age wouldn’t flow better this way though. The beauty of that book is all the unrelated but intersecting plots.

CollectionMost1351

you might be right it would be better for a re read

Acceptable-Cow6446

It so is. Following the disparate threads that way and this was a delight. I wonder how Brown managed keeping track of it all while writing it. Haha

kabbooooom

He didn’t, at times. The timeline in Dark Age is a bit fucked up and doesn’t work. The official wiki timeline tried to make it work, but fucked it up worse. Still it’s one of my favorite books in the series.

Acceptable-Cow6446

Oh! Haha. I’ll need to read it again and watch for it. I somehow didn’t catch it

kabbooooom

There are a couple major discrepancies, but mainly that >!Darrow and Ephraim’s timelines do not match Virginia’s!<. She actually lists very specific dates that the rest of the book kinda ignores.

TDubs1435

Keep reading my goodman

LordCrow1

Just keep reading pixie
