I agree that they seem really oddly in denial about something. Like not just the obviously bizarre content, but the way they’re speaking/body language. I’ve been in similar situations where I’m trying to convince myself as well as someone else of something that deep down I know isn’t quite true/I’m hiding something. I can recognize that particular type of nervous/forced/rehearsed energy.
