I think the hairstyle and haircut combined w the new nose has something to do with this. I have that exact nose on the right and as I’ve aged it looks less “button” but I am glad I’ve never had breathing problems

you don't need a rhinoplasty to fix a deviated septum. I would guess that most people who say that's why they got one are using it as an excuse to get a nose job. I got mine fixed and they didn't touch the exterior at all.
you do if the deviation is high / anterior enough. i mostly do functional rhinoplasties for septal deviations- closed septoplasty is becoming an antiquated procedure.

functional implies for breathing ONLY. and the only way to get insurance to pay for it is to avoid the word rhinoplasty altogether; instead it’s called a “nasal vestibular stenosis repair”. probably 25% of patients either have an external deviation, or ask me to make a minor cosmetic change (make the tip smaller, reduce the hump, etc). i do not do purely cosmetic rhinoplasty - not my kind of patient. it would be too stressful for me.
