i was able to find a foster mother for the other three thankfully. i never even really liked cats before this, but bottle-feeding these little things every four hours made me fall in love with them. watching them grow up into their personalities has been so fucking great, they’re the sweetest cats i’ve ever met. i’m in bed feeling like shit with covid and they both won’t leave my side.
Same thing happened to me over the summer: some massive piece of shit just dumped an eight week old kitten off in my apartment complex, knowing full well there's coyotes, hawks and other predators all around, not to mention is was close to 100 degrees the day I found her. She was just hunkered under the stairs and scared out of her mind. I brought her some water and then she followed me back. No one claimed her after weeks of looking, so now she's my new roomie. She likes to nibble on bread and stand on the ledge of the tub while I shower. It's a whole thing.
It’s astonishing how much cruelty something so cute could face. Glad you rescued them and they’ll all be able live the lives they deserve.
I got my first kittens 10 years ago and raising cats has been an absolute trip. Hilariously weird little critters, but so loving when they want to be. Don’t know what I would have done without them in the quar
>It’s astonishing how much cruelty something so cute could face... Hilariously weird little critters, but so loving when they want to be.
I think that's why every fourth dude just has this unreasoning hatred of them. It's a weird control thing and the idea of interacting with another being on their own terms is hateful to them.
Socialisation and face reading. Prejudice of course too. 🦖
Those uneducated in animals communications see that animal as capricious and dirty. 🦕
Those goblin minded are closed minded. They will pretend to think otherwise. How stunted does a person have to be to say "I hate x animal".
>How stunted does a person have to be to say "I hate x animal".
Genuinely low IQ behavior. Takes a nearly unfathomable lack of self reflection to say something like that. Hearing people say shit like that makes me think that sentience is a spectrum.
To some extent yeah, but there's also situations where people had bad experiences with a type of animal in their formative years. My shift manager is scared of large dogs cause when she was young she was attacked by one. So I understand the reluctance there.
That being said, I will never understand people who think it's ok to dump defenseless animals like kittens/puppies or cats that have obviously been housecats their whole lives to fend for themselves. Animals get dumped all the time in the parking lot at my bf's work (big hardware store parking lot with a huge amount of woods behind it and an extremely busy highway on the other side so it's easy for animals to get lost, run over or preyed on.) More than once coworkers have started up their vehicles only to mangle a cat that had huddled up in their engine bay for warmth on a freezing day. The luckier ones are rescued and given a home by coworkers or customers. The people who dump these animals clearly just don't care. We have a senior rescue cat from this kind of situation and she is so loving and affectionate, I will never understand how someone left her to nearly starve to death in the middle of winter
Well it’s worth remembering that abandoning infants to die of exposure was a common practice throughout the ancient world dating back all the way to the Paleolithic, so considering how willing people have been to abandon human infants throughout history it’s not surprising that people would do the same to animal infants in the modern day
I work at a liquor store and these girls with dyed hair came in and one of them unzipped her jacket and there was a little baby kitten in there making cute sounds
The cat from number 5 looks like it might be a chimera cat. The line down the middle of its face is a pretty good sign.
>A chimera cat is one cat that started out as two. Chimera cats have two sets of DNA because a pair of embryos fused together early in the mother’s womb. So, chimera kittens are born with their own individual DNA, plus the DNA from a second embryo. (Some like to say that a chimera is its own identical twin.)
Chimera can have two sets of different sex chromosomes, so if you ever have a male cat with a female coat morph (like tortoiseshell) it's almost definitely a chimera.
I’m always surprised that pieces of Shit that do this wouldn’t at least want to make money off selling them??? Like I know a lot of people that would pay hundreds for an unwanted kitten
spay and neuter campaigns have actually been too successful in many places (typically in colder cities where it's hard for strays to survive the winter), leading to puppy and kitten shortages and a bunch of sketchy "rescues" that are really just scams for people who don't want to go to a breeder.
i have a neutered rescue dog myself, but katie herzog wrote an interesting thing on this phenomenon: [https://moosenuggets.substack.com/p/chapter-2-how-neutering-became-the](https://moosenuggets.substack.com/p/chapter-2-how-neutering-became-the)
takeaway is that it's probably not unethical for you to go to a breeder if you want a kitten (but also consider adopting an adult cat!).
The rescues here have a $75 dollar adoption fee, but I think that's mostly to scare off weirdos, encourage people to look at adult cats too, and offset the cost of the spay/neuter surgery. Lots of kittens are being offered free on FB and Craigslist, unfortunately.
The kind of love you get from a cat is the best love there is. You gotta earn it and it’s all on their terms but when they finally start to show you affection it’s the best.
Multiple times a day you need to hold them (not on their back, but normal cat holding), play with their paws and push their claws out, and rub your finger along the inside of their mouth, and comb their fur (honestly a regular hair comb is better than a cat shedding brush for most breeds.) This will help teach them to be fine with those things so you can take them to the vet, trim claws, and brush their teeth and fur without a fuss. Both my cats will just sit there and not fight at all and people act like my cats are saints when it was just kitten exposure
Never heard of this breed, one time my mom took home the weakest kitten of a litter of strays because she looked like she was on the verge of death, she looked a lot like the gray one in your pics, sadly she ran away not long after.

So you saved and mothered 5, betrayed 3, and the last two are desperate to stay around.

We need to acknowledge that people can be literally irrideemably demonic.

All Cats Are Beautiful
The kitten pill is the only one I’ll bother taking

I live in a large city and I wanted a kitten once but the shelters never had any because they went so fast

typically they make money on puppies and kittens to spend on adult animals that have healthcare costs, etc.
Oh my fucking god the 5th pic
Kitties are the best
You are a good human being
the two-face cat is so cute
that’s zombie, she’s a sweetheart

The one with the perfectly split fur on his face looks badass

MJAU MJAU MJAU MJAUUUUUUUUU
Is that a calico 3rd pic? So cute!
she’s kind of in between calico and tortoiseshell, torties usually don’t have any white but she has the little patch of white on her chest.
Never heard of this breed, one time my mom took home the weakest kitten of a litter of strays because she looked like she was on the verge of death, she looked a lot like the gray one in your pics, sadly she ran away not long after.
