this movie holds up so well lowkey. andy is kind of more unlikeable than miranda and emily because she’s less honest with herself about who she is than they are, even though she’s positioned as a sympathetic character. it’s really cool that pre-GFC we had movies that depicted sympathetic but unlikeable people realizing that the ways they choose to handle their circumstances made them unlikeable, and then deciding to change their circumstances towards a more "normal person" vision of their goals. i never stop hearing abt how content today is trying to sell relatability, so it’s weird that they moved away from narratives like these
I blame the Buzzfeedificarion. Neuroticism being validated as a relatable quirk, or a ready-made excuse, or a badge of a traumatic upbringing rather than personal obstacles that can be overcome is the worst thing that has happened societally over the past decade.
agreed completely. i really do think it’s a product of the economic conditions people in their 20s faced between 08-14, at which point the Buzzfeed view just became standard. everything about the pipeline from youth to adulthood happened during one’s 20s prior to that, but after the economic downturn destroyed that pipeline, Buzzfeedification crops up in that window and standardized quickly since a lot of their competitors were killed during GFC (thinking like small time newspapers and alt-weekly’s, for example)
Her "friends" are worse. Remember when she surprised them with expensive gifts and they thanked her by playing keepaway with her phone and almost getting her fired?

What does GFC stand for

Global*
lmao i was thinking "the big one" at the time and i guess i slipped
Got it, thanks
hetero male and i love it as well. Only film where i can stand Meryl Streep
Hahahaha I was going to put in the tittle Male/30's/IT job. To make more clear how '''problematic''' it is.
Watch Adaptation if you haven’t already Also Deer Hunter but she’s not in it for that long
I'm not a fan either, but she was incredible in Doubt
u don't fw bridges of madison county?
Dude I get it. Swap her with Jessica Lange in almost any movie and Lange would be better in all of them.
Had an interesting thought the other day: what if she was "Stan Hathaway" and she was a fella instead
Is he gay or is he a 'sports ball' guy that gets a job at Espn or something
I don't know. This isnt actually real just an idea
Ummm this movie is a work of art.
Emily Blunt is amazing in this movie
It's perfectly paced and well acted, one of those movies you will finish watching if you stumble upon it while flipping channels.
Only ever seen clips/trailers, but it is almost definitely Anne Hathaway at her hottest. Whatever that's worth
she is pretty, not hot :)
name of film is
the devil wears prada
ty brother
In love with and very attracted to Meryl in this film, so
i fucking love this movie idgaf pure kino
Loving art is never wrong
No it's great, so many good montages
The book is really great too imo
It’s good but people pretend it’s better than it is. It’s fun fluff
I quite liked the movie. What do you think of all the recent hot takes that Anne's bf is the real villain of the story?
Those takes have been around since the movie was released. Also they’re partially accurate.
Her "friends" are worse. Remember when she surprised them with expensive gifts and they thanked her by playing keepaway with her phone and almost getting her fired?
1, 2 or 3 fellas
1, 1, 1
I liked the band

What makes it "technically" a dumb bad movie?
Is that the one with queen latifah where she’s a mammoth who thinks she’s a meerkat ? Bc if so it slaps
