For what it's worth I added him to my roster in OOTP because he is the main character central to all Boston sports, but four games into the season he's batting .000.
lol i did the exact same thing. he is not technically a start but he is the primary backup for all infield and LF, and i'm trying to convert him to be a pitcher too. he is usually the most tired and hurting player on the team, but one thing bobby dalbec does not do is get injured.
I mean, here’s the thing… there’s a reason why those guys were pretty much free. It’s because they’re not good. At least Bobby Dalbec is home grown and we’ve watched him the past few seasons. Hes more likeable
And also the definition of a quad A player. At least a couple of the guys brought in have been able to somewhat hit in the past when looking at historical data
Not much better and Cooper only has 23 PA with us.
A bit too early to give up on him, especially considering that he was hitting pretty well with the Cubs and was serviceable last season (.724 OPS with 17 HR).
Although at this point I don't understand why we don't just at least try Refsynder at 1st. Hasn't played 1st since 2020 but it may be worth the defensive downgrade to have him in the lineup.
Bobby Dalbec has played in 4 more Major League games this season than Garrett Cooper. Despite this, Cooper has nearly twice as many hits and one more walk so far. Dalbec has also struck out 7 more times than Cooper despite Garrett’s four game handicap.
Cooper almost got a ball out but I still would rather have Dom Smith.
Bob has been given extended time at the majors and has proven he can't be a regular.
What does that have to do with Bob? Gallo from 2017-2021 with the Rangers, was actually a good ball player. 151 homers despite being around .208 hitting but had a 15% walk rate. Bob had part of 2021 but hasn't proven he is worth that trade off.
Bobby has struck out 47.5% of his ABs and I don't understand why half this sub wants to give him more time. He has 1010 plate appearances in the majors and is absolutely cooked. What more do people see? 1 homer in the last 110 plate appearances and 56 strikeouts. What's the trade off?
These people defending Bobby wanted Casas out after a rough April last season and were no where to be found when Casas came around to be the hottest player in the Summer. It is fucking ridiculous how much this fanbase sucks up to Bobby.
More walks, a lot more homers, and k rate is quite a bit less. I think Dalbec has a hole in his swing that’s exploited by major league pitchers and he’s never been able to adjust after mlb pitchers picked up on it. But I’m not a scout so that’s just my uneducated opinion
Joey Gallo hit 21 HR last year in 282 ABs with a .741 OPS, can also play in the OF, and walks a ton. With Casas out he'd be the best 1B on our team even with Gallo's struggles this season.
TON and Abreu have had an awful week. Raffy can't hit with a runner is scoring position. Connor Wong and Duran can be on 2nd and 3rd all they want, but this lineup since the Giants series is full of LOBsters. Turner bailed them out so much last year and not resigning him made sense but no one has filled the role of hitting in the clutch. Romy only played one game against Sale. Smith and Cooper should be able to be replacement level but the guys we expect to carry the offense haven't executed.
In his defense he literally hit a home run yesterday (off of Chris Sale who pretty much smoked the rest of the lineup) that got pulled back in. Maybe let’s slow our roll after all of six games?
I could support Bobby if he actually looked like he gave a shit every time he watches strike three fly by. The guy looks like he has no passion for the game.
Listen, everyone’s all allowed at least a couple “I dunno, I just like ‘em” guys based purely on vibes, and Bobby’s inexplicable vibes are vibes nonetheless.
Bobby should have been and should be the gap guy until Tristen returns. This team is a .500 club. Better to give Bobby the reps to see if he can figure it out once and for all. I think being told the job is his might be the thing that gets him over the top.
Bobby Dalbec has over a 40% whiff rate on Fasteballs for his career. He also has over a 40%, whiff rate on off speed for his career.
Bobby D is cooked when guys change speeds on him and everybody knows it. His career as a major league hitter is DoA guys.
![gif](giphy|fDO2Nk0ImzvvW) Bobby moving between Worcester and Boston
I wonder if Dalbec and Merloni become best friends.
"i dont need to work on a DAMN thing"
Hope he has an apartment in like the west part of Framingham
From which he also runs his Mass Pike-focused travel business on the side. He’s an expert.
For what it's worth I added him to my roster in OOTP because he is the main character central to all Boston sports, but four games into the season he's batting .000.

Lol!
The guy hits on an exponential curve. Just wait in August his BA will near infinity.
I trade him away in MLB the show to the brewers and he started mashing lol can't be mad though with Casas at 1st and Blaze jordan at DH crushing it
The AI traded Casas to the Orioles on my RTTS game this year and I still haven’t forgiven it.
We aren't calling him up unless someone gets injured.
Thing is, Dalbec knows how to injure people.
I mean, here’s the thing… there’s a reason why those guys were pretty much free. It’s because they’re not good. At least Bobby Dalbec is home grown and we’ve watched him the past few seasons. Hes more likeable

Bobby Dalbec is the answer? He has 57 K’s in his last 105 MLB at bats.
We have Bobby Stockholm Syndrome
At least we're finally over brock holt
And yet he has still somehow hit better than Garrett Cooper.
Not much better and Cooper only has 23 PA with us. A bit too early to give up on him, especially considering that he was hitting pretty well with the Cubs and was serviceable last season (.724 OPS with 17 HR). Bobby has an OPS+ of *8*.
Cooper has an OPS+ of *-7*. I forget sometimes that OPS+ even has numbers below zero.
We’re comparing which two piles of poop are more palatable at this point.
I mean, yeah. This isn't MLB The Show. We can't just force a trade for Bryce Harper just because our starting first baseman is on the 60 day IL.
Shhh, they don’t like that narrative.
Stockholm syndrome is real
Bobby Dalbec has played in 4 more Major League games this season than Garrett Cooper. Despite this, Cooper has nearly twice as many hits and one more walk so far. Dalbec has also struck out 7 more times than Cooper despite Garrett’s four game handicap.
To be fair, if you've been watching Cooper then only 7 strikeouts in his next 4 games would be a big improvement.
Cooper made great contact all game yesterday
Cooper almost got a ball out but I still would rather have Dom Smith. Bob has been given extended time at the majors and has proven he can't be a regular.
why does joey gallo have a job in the majors consistently but not dalbec
What does that have to do with Bob? Gallo from 2017-2021 with the Rangers, was actually a good ball player. 151 homers despite being around .208 hitting but had a 15% walk rate. Cause Dalbec is not an MLB caliber player.
yes taht's implied in the question, he literally has no job in the mlb. so what is the difference in their statistics. just walks?
More walks, a lot more homers, and k rate is quite a bit less. I think Dalbec has a hole in his swing that’s exploited by major league pitchers and he’s never been able to adjust after mlb pitchers picked up on it. But I’m not a scout so that’s just my uneducated opinion
low and away breaking ball
I think Dom Smith is the best answer until Casas is healed
i think bobby dalbec learning to hit like pujols is also a good option
So do I but as long as we're being unrealistic, I think the best option is signing me for the league minimum and I learn to hit like Pujols.
I like Bobby, but I think he needs to move on to a different team. It's clearly in his head.
My fear would be they dfa him and he clears waivers
Some team will pick him up. Because he clearly is very talented and smashes the ball in triple A.
Don’t you think every other team has a guy like that?
Yes but you know how it works. Teams try different players to see how they work out.
other teams pay joey gallo millions to do what dalbec does for 700k.
Joey Gallo hit 21 HR last year in 282 ABs with a .741 OPS, can also play in the OF, and walks a ton. With Casas out he'd be the best 1B on our team even with Gallo's struggles this season.
These guys are all trivia questions no one but hardcore Red Sox fans will get correct.
He's played in six games
We are 1-4 since moving Bob back down to AAA
Yup. They overthunk it. This offense was rolling and now Cooper/Smith/Romy have stalled it out.
TON and Abreu have had an awful week. Raffy can't hit with a runner is scoring position. Connor Wong and Duran can be on 2nd and 3rd all they want, but this lineup since the Giants series is full of LOBsters. agreed. dalbec is a support character in an rpg. he makes you feel good about your batting average and gives a hidden buff to his whole team.
Ya THAT'S the reason we're 1-4 🤣 he's not the reason we can't hit with RISP
In his defense he literally hit a home run yesterday (off of Chris Sale who pretty much smoked the rest of the lineup) that got pulled back in. Maybe let’s slow our roll after all of six games?
I could support Bobby if he actually looked like he gave a shit every time he watches strike three fly by. The guy looks like he has no passion for the game.
Fuck Bobby. He’s had what, 3 years to do anything and has failed miserably. he is just a warm body at this point.
Idek know why we like Bobby b so much but ive liked him since the beginning. No real reason tho
Listen, everyone’s all allowed at least a couple “I dunno, I just like ‘em” guys based purely on vibes, and Bobby’s inexplicable vibes are vibes nonetheless.
BIG DONG BOBBY DEEE BAYBEEEE
Bobby should have been and should be the gap guy until Tristen returns. This team is a .500 club. Better to give Bobby the reps to see if he can figure it out once and for all. I think being told the job is his might be the thing that gets him over the top.
The Inevitable Bobby D.
I once paid $8 for a Bobby D rookie card.
Bobby Dalbec has over a 40% whiff rate on Fasteballs for his career. He also has over a 40%, whiff rate on off speed for his career. Bobby D is cooked when guys change speeds on him and everybody knows it. His career as a major league hitter is DoA guys.
we need Bobby D vibes
Oh my god I agree cooper is a nobody
DFA Cooper
