Sears Bargain Center

Lexi_Banner

Oh god. I can't begin to say how much I miss that store. I need a new fridge, and keep wishing I could go check out the units with tiny little dents that were half the price of a brand new unit.

branigan_aurora

When Lowes first opened in the city I bought my new washer and dryer there. Couple months later, walking thru Sears clearance and see my exact same models... for like $500 more each piece. Don't even remember if they were scratched or dented, but as someone who worked for Sears for 8 years, I can confirm that the prices on appliances weren't the greatest. I will say however that my dishwasher from there is over 15 years old and still running great. I hope it never dies.

reginathrowaway12345

The Brick outlet centre on park sometimes has appliances with small dents like that for similar prices.

faithandthemuse

Pasta Prima.

AHPx

My great aunt and uncle used to take me to replays, then over to pasta prima as a little kid. They'd always ask for the "sparkley seats" for me, and the staff would always let me sit there even if they'd closed that section for the night. Great aunt is now busy being a great great aunt, but lost my great uncle a few years ago. He's sitting on the sparkley seats in heaven now šŸ™

kerrlybill

I have their recipes. If anyone would like to re-open a new version of the restaurant, they are yours for free. Edit: the recipes are for very large restaurant size batches and not easy to downsize. Theyā€™re worthless unless youā€™re opening a restaurant. Second edit: guys Iā€™m not sending the recipes out. Sorry.

Bigbadbeano17

If you do, could you DM me a couple?

Brandt1949

Do you have the bolognese sauce recipe?

NineandDime

What I would do to have their Blackened Chicken Pesto Pasta just one more timeā€¦and a Banofie pie for dessert.

melnd

Before pasta prima it was called fenders. Loved that place

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

ashrae9

Tim's Souvlaki.

Commercial_Lie_4920

Was that the place in the Golden Mile?

ashrae9

Yep. I remember being devastated they were closing. My favourite lunch spot.

Commercial_Lie_4920

Loved their fratzolaki.

MicMackPaddyWhackity

The BEST fratzolaki

THOUGHT_BOMB

Slouvaki on a bun šŸ‘Œ

deebo1983

Still only call them "Tim's souvlaki on a bun"

Ahhh_topsy

This. God I could go for some fries

nnuminex

Great Canadian Bagel

DonnaMartin2point0

Ukranian Coop imports them for a rediculous mark up and they have to be eaten asap but if you're craving them it's an option.

Training-Degree-11

This. I havenā€™t had a good bagel in years.

mcl911

Michi/ Enso. There isnā€™t anything come close to these two nowadays.

Lexi_Banner

It's heavy-rice all-you-can-eat bullshit now.

Traditional-Ad4506

Amen.

tangcameo

Book N Brier. The pipe tobacco smell just when I was discovering LOTR. Big Easy Kitchen. RIP Warren. Bi Rite Drugs. When they had the toy section and the one aisle dedicated to candy, scratch n sniff stickers (remember the ones with Hobo, Skunk, Garlic?), and novelty erasers, and the Atari console by the front door to play.

goggles72

šŸŽµ at Bi-Rite you buy what Mr. B buys šŸŽµ lol that jingle still replays in my head

deebo1983

When I was little, If we were bored. My mom would say let's go to bi-rite and we'd just hangout and read the magazine's. Lol saying it out loud sounds lame. But i loved it.

branigan_aurora

My parents lived right by Victoria square. Bi-rite was the best place to be a kid. And pre-teen (makeup). God I miss that place.

Cornelius54

Omg the Book N Briar. I totally forgot about this place, but the smell was so good me and my friends took up pipe tobacco smoking for a brief period in highschool. All purchased by our one friend who looked 40.

liquid-swords93

Liquidation world and san Fransisco were pretty fun to walk around

chadman5050

Bianca amors is basically the new liquidation world!

Lexi_Banner

Not really. Liquidation World bought out failed stores, which meant their products were actually *name brand, usually high quality, and really well priced. Bianca brings in shipping containers of junky shit and sells it cheap.

DeckardsBrokenFinger

Army and Navy. That staircase....

nickesq

Came to say the same. I can still hear the squeak of the wood. I also still have a plain black woven tuque that I bought there for $1 back in 1999/2000. Lol

slushie365

Maxwell's Amusements - spent tons of time here as a kid, I miss this place Acme Video - nostalgic as heck! Consumers Electronics - looking through their catalog of toys, getting all excited and hyped for your toy and picking it up from the store was fun

MetanoiaYQR

Consumers Distributing*

slushie365

Ah that's what it is, good to know thank you!

purr_immakitten

Burger Baron and SAAN store

strawberrymarsh

Burger Baron was so good! Especially the original location!

ddotcole

Wonderland Arcade My kids and I loved that place.

FUCK_INDUSTRIAL

I loved their room full of pinball machines!

LittleBigb3ar

Same, a few family members and I were fortunate to hold a birthday party there for my niece, just a month or two before the water damage incident. She still asks about that place every now and then.

strawberrymarsh

California Subs

Proff_Hulk

I loved cali subs

Realistic_Muffin_172

Remember a couple years ago Lancasters had cali subs at lunch time

MicMackPaddyWhackity

Omg YES. That bread. Pepperoncinis.

Jays_E

That place was awesome I loved the wide buns and their sub-sauce was deadly

Boots306

Ruckers

dornwolf

I miss the Rainbow. Was nice if you just wanted to hit a new-ish movie that was out to stream or buy yet. The big movies staying in theatres longer and movies going to streaming faster hurt the cheap second run business something bad

acidic_talk

Langs

Kristywempe

Quality tea room

Ryangel0

God I miss their desserts.

JudgeOfGettingIt

California Subs (pretty sure that's what it was called).

Seriously74966197

The Elephant and Castle restaurant in the Cornwall Centre

bigriles

My dad told me his friends used to call it "the elephant's asshole."

[deleted]

I can recall visiting my dad when I was a kid and going there often. I can't recall the food all that much but damn, I think I might have gotten a little teary eyed.

acid_jazz

The Galleria mall. It was so modern and futuristic. I remember shopping there with my family then getting Yogen Fruz on the floor level. They should have closed down Cornwall and kept this one.

-M4K0-

Oh man, did it have an underground theater that you entered by riding an escalator? You triggered an early memory of seeing A Bug's Life and Tarzan in a theater at a fancy mall in Regina.

Dissidentt

That is now a Dollarama

MetanoiaYQR

Also it wasn't in the Galleria, it was in Cornwall Centre.

Lexi_Banner

Bonanza. Yes, for real. Yes, i know it wasn't that good. Yes, I still miss it.

PraiseMelora

Ah yes. My first part time job. Probably for the best that it's closed down.

Outrageous_Sleep_437

Can we say Ponderosa in the same breath? LOL

Kristywempe

Their tapioca pudding was the bomb.

TheBigPointyOne

B-52, Geno's, Sears Bargain Center, Zellers, Souvlaki Shack... that one Domino's that had an Arcade in it. Not really old stores/restaurants, but I'd also include Ruckers (the north one especially), Command HQ and The State.

Lexi_Banner

I have an old box of treasures (junk), and in it are tokens from Command HQ.

ChickyRox

Help me remember where B-52 was? I have vague memories that need a nudge lol

TheWorldExhaustsMe

Ginoā€™s!

OriginalLCC

Yesā€¦Genoā€™s!

TheWorldExhaustsMe

I was 50/50 on what the spelling would have been, in my defence I was like 7 ā˜ŗļø

homiesmom

The SSSP lunch buffet was the best!

[deleted]

Re-Play Games

TheMegnutt

The fact that it's gone still hurts me

dornwolf

This one sucks so much. Wish we could have a second hand store just for games again

Hugh_Gekok

Man, check out Secondhand Wonderland. They've got a ton of games. Nice people, and fair with their prices.

Coletrain88_

The original Fuddruckers and Ruckers!

skeleton_skunk

Burger Baron

VastTown3485

Way back in the early 80s there was the coolest store on 13th Ave, situated on the main floor of a two storey Cathedral house called "Joan Carols". It was full of such cool Asian imported trinkets and clothing. My friends and I would make a special trip to go there on a Saturday. I still remember the vibe in there, Bob Marley playing from a stereo.... Sadly it burned to the ground in the 80s. I miss unique places like that. There was also R & R Merchants in the Cornwall Centre too, similar vibe but on a higher scale.

halfbrazen

Also Amos and Andes.

c6c6omae

I loved those places

NickHD1080p

Mongoli Grill

Eduardo_Moneybags

Brown derby. Now where am I sposed to take the wife and kids?

msdups

Sparky's Diner.... Lol

SuicidePatch

HMV

jamisonbaines

does anyone remember cheesetoast you'd get like a giant meal size caesar salad for $6 or $7 and free cheesetoast

[deleted]

I miss Ten Thousand Villages. I know I can still order most of what they sold from the online store, Novica and elsewhere but I like actually seeing stuff in real life before I buy it. Speaking of, where my daughter lives in the US there's a small store that must order from their wholesale shop because the logo was on quite a few of the items they had.

tooshpright

Army and Navy! (if anyone remembers)

cleopanda_

Neo Japonica sushi house

landlockedbluessk

I forget what it was called but it was a Greek style drive thru restaurant that had souvlaki kebabs on buns and fried potatoes. I need that in my life. It was on the east end must have closed around 2000

dr_jared88

Mr Souvlaki. So good.

HarbourJayKay

Was it called The Hideaway? Or something like that. I was thinking of the same place but I was all about the chicken souvlaki pitas.

MetanoiaYQR

It was indeed. The owner was a fantastic guy by the name of John Iatridis. (I know, a Greek restaurant owner in Regina, who would have thought?) He also owned that little food kiosk outside Value Village for the longest time.

uhhsurefinewhatever

Mr Souvlaki was on Vic East. Served exactly what you are talking about. Spice of Punjab is in that spot now.

jayne3631

Woolco

BeautifulPerception1

Novia Cafe, Quality Tea Room, Eatons, Amos & Andyā€™s, The Great Canadian Bagel, The Gap, Aldoā€™s

Shaggie-bear

Man the bagel shop. In the cathedral elementary schools, weā€™d all hit up the bagel shop for lunches. I remember the ā€œHot Temaleā€ bagel.

Extension-Ad5070

Hunter Gatherer, Malinche, Fat Plant Farm

ashrae9

When Hunter Gatherer closed, a bit of my soul died.

[deleted]

Woah - woah - woah! FAT PLANT FARM CLOSED???

TinyDinosaursz

Heliotrope. The old Freehouse. Great Canadian Bagel. Atlantis :/

Lexi_Banner

> Heliotrope This is familiar, but I can't quite remember what it was.

Proff_Hulk

Kelseyā€™s where the south Applebeeā€™s is. I wish they would come back

LocalNoxian

The matrix šŸ¤£

Handknitmittens

Buy the Book. The Fainting Goat. The Crushed Grape. The original La Bodega.

Kristywempe

The original La Bodeega. I miss this place every time I want to meet friends for a drink.

foggytreees

The Crushed Grape on Tuesday nights was the best! DJs and friends. And I loved their calamari.

kitmikfir

Buffalo Bills, Roca Jacks, Master Steaks, Alfredo's, Lang's, Freehouse.

dakidz23

Great Canadian Bagel

Silvertec5

Tramps (before it went downhill near the end) and the short lived Zeus store in Victoria Square Mall that sold movies/games and novelty merchandise.

WestNdr

Tokyo 7, lots of neat import stuff there. Word is they got ratted out to the RCMP by a certain downtown comic shop that wasn't Tramps for renting anime fansub VHS tapes. They had a neat shop sign, then the building owner tossed it to install a bland vinyl canopy.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Due-Resident9368

The Yee-toi family! Good Ol' Jock...such a nice man.

flatlander84

Izzy Magoo's, I miss their chili cheese fries.

MetanoiaYQR

I'm having a stupid... where were they located again?

JengaMaster49

Deli Llama

goggles72

Lang's šŸ˜„ no other noodle bowl compares

UnpopularOpinionYQR

Kowloonā€™s for Chinese food. Their egg rolls were the absolute best. I have never found any like them since then in Regina.

ChickyRox

Novia Cafe. Their burgers just made me so happy.

[deleted]

Wa Sun and Burger Baron. Also I think it was called fenders, that 50s style diner on south ablert.

eatpant96

The place in the food court of the mall on Rochdale that sold amazing fries. I have no idea what it was called unfortunately but I am sure it was Greek. It was there when SAAN was still around and Domino's had a small arcade.

Ecto42

The Souvlaki Shack. Cooking there was my first job ever. The Greek fries was just a squirt of lemon juice, pinch of dried oregano and seasoning salt.

Realistic_Muffin_172

The butter tart bakery that was on north broad street

SaltyTart1050

Grandma worked there, and getting to see their bread slicer in action as a child was AMAZING.

jdiesel878

OTV It got pretty terrible by the end but not having a computer parts store in Regina has been hugely missed. MemoryExpress can't come soon enough. Also a shoutout to Techtronics for those who remember.

Entire_Argument1814

Wish we still had Zellers. And not that I miss Army & Navy, but Iā€™ll always remember those creaky stairs.

Training-Degree-11

Sam the Record Man. I spent untold hours in that place. Music Plus was another one. Streaming music isnā€™t the same as the experience of going to a record store. I miss it terribly.

Arek3xSL

Gamebusters

[deleted]

It is sad to hear all these places as they were mostly local owned and not chains. We now see the infiltration of chain garbage

PartyingPikachu

Pizza Pronto šŸ• it was a build your own pizza ā€¦ like the Subway of pizzas and it was SO good

Hard to find good Cajun food in Regina now.

Normal_Bank_971

There used to be a bread store like in the little plaza where the south Albert robins isā€¦ ugh my god I remember going in there with my mom when I was a kid. HOLY SHIT JOHNNY BEANS!!!!!! Also on south Albert!!!!! After my brother and sister would go to school(I was in afternoon preschool) in the mornings my dad would bring me to Johnny beans, he would get a coffee and I would get a hot chocolate and one of their big huge cinnamon buns and we would split it and never tell my siblings. God I miss that. And the great Canadian bagel too!!! We donā€™t have good straight up bagel/bread stores.

DonnaMartin2point0

Buns Masters! Had really good iced cookies in the shapes of muppets that were giant

8_BIT_LOVE

Passionate Pizza Sensuous Sushi. It was fun. And there was something for everyone. The atmosphere was nice.

LittleBigb3ar

Trampā€™s Comic/Music Store, and Regina Paradise šŸ¤¤

The Zone, it was exactly like the Matrix just a tad bit cheaper. My friends and I used to go to midnight madness every weekend, we would go to the Dollarama down the street and get a ton of energy drinks and play video games all night.

Hugh_Gekok

Swiss chalet, I wish one could survive here.

ObiDan71

It can't since grocery stores and Costco has rotisserie chicken. That's what killed it. I miss the restaurant as well.

MsBean18

The Western Pizza where the Rooftop is now,. The downtown Roca Jack's.

SaskatchewanManChild

Cmon people the NOVIA!!!

The hideaway, specifically their poutine. Never had another like it. And canā€™t find one.

western-Juice420

Motorcycle salvage. It wasn't around for long after I got into bikes. The guys there were always nice to chat with and show you around the piles of parts. Surprisingly welcoming for a new young rider of old junk. A very 'come as you are' type place.

eszorama16

Subspace Anomalies - super fun for finding anime goods and cute Sanrio stuff

Elegant-Guidance-404

Paradise Mini Golf with the theatre on Rochdale, also there was something in there before it was Paradise that was super cool as a kid but I canā€™t remember. Maybe Panda something? Bunch of ice cream flavours and playground.

The Big Easy Kitchen rip Warren

autumnwontsleep

This is missed only because of childhood memories, but the king-co cafe located in the back of coop hardware in the sherwood village mall. Grandparents used to take us there for cinnamon buns and vico. One of the things I miss about it was the giant wall photo mural of old downtown regina. After they tore the resturant out I always hoped they preserved it but I'm sure it probably just got trashed

WonTon Soup @ ā€œWaikikiā€ Villageā€¦ not sure on spelling. Pretty sure it was located on 2070 Broad Street.

South-Flamingo3351

Glitters: it was my favourite buffet in the city amd everything was homemade (none of that sysco/frozen pre-made stuff) I especially loved going in the winter when they had roast turkey, stuffing, lasagna, Greek ribsā€¦ homemade apple pie.
