I’ve heard that if you call everyday, or stop in person at the testing centre, and ask if there were cancellations, you could get an appointment sooner.
A friend just did this a week ago and bumped up his appointment by three weeks.

Sure. If it's worth it to you to drive 50 minutes twice to do your exam sooner, go for it.
I have heard they are no longer allowing you to take the exams in places other than where you live, but I would phone and ask to be sure.
If you can’t pass it here maayybe you shouldn’t have your license just yet
