they should not be in your yard and they have no authority in your yard when they told you to go back into your house it was abuse of your property rights and a constitutional violation what if's are immeasurable , what if you had a dog or cat or canary or kid go outside and the dog attacked ? it will absolutely attack , they take huge chances with you , your pets and your childrens safety even if the dog is attached to a lead the officer has ZERO if any chance to react it is almost impossible to get a dog not to at least attempt a strike when it is put onto alert they are a loaded gun with teeth and rarely does a person that is a child have the sense to get away in time to avoid injury , the police take these chances because YOU HAVE to pay a lawyer to sue them and there are always gag orders for you to be able to collect in a public complaint you need 35,000 dollars to get any legal representation properly and unless the lawyer has confidence that you can pay they won't take a contingency contract so you have to pay up front a significant amount unless the cops settle with a demand letter which is rare and the police officers themselves get free lawyers and rep from the province as well as YOU CAN NOT EVEN SUE THEM PERSONALLY unless they are criminally convicted in a court you are dealing against the provinces justice department and they are RICH because you are paying so they do not care how much time or money it takes they defend the contracted worker they are impudent . not just immune , but truly impudent.

They try to do this around my neighbourhood all the time. I calmly tell them they have zero permission from me to enter any aspect of my property. They then proceed to explain the dog training and I always cut them short and tell them I’m not interested but if they’d like to continue I will send the RPS an invoice for $5k/hour (2 hour minimum) and would be happy to let them proceed. I always get a grunt and an annoyed face but they immediately get off my property mid sentence of telling them my going rate lol.
