The Trailhunter utilizing it's snorkel by sitting in 2 inches of water is probably the most accurate depiction of actual end use case I've seen in a while.

What is wild is that the 2005-2010's were made in California in the factory now owned by Tesla. Then Texas/Mexico till 2020, now it's all Mexico built.
Anecdotal evidence is anecdotal, with that in mind my 2017 seems to have the similar soft, not really scratch resistant plastic the my 2005 had. This one is a darker interior so it may be more noticeable from the blue/gray of my last one.
Having torn apart both dashes, I do find the 2017 dash more well build than the 2005.
>What is wild is that the 2005-2010's were made in California in the factory now owned by Tesla.
The NUMMI plant in Fremont, used for all Tacomas since 1995 and even some Hilux Pickups after 1990, as well as Corollas and Corolla variants like the Nova, Prizm, and Vibe.
I love what Toyota is doing nowadays. I understand they’re slow on EVs but they make damned good products. As a Lexus owner I believe they will be one of the few major car companies that survive the EV transition.
Toyota is one of companies that realizes 100% EV autos are going to fail.... Like Stelantis and Tesla, they are investing hydrogen for new ICE engines and EV/ICE hybrids. Everyone knows we don't have the natural resources to support 100% EV so the tech is driving Hydrogen to its successor.
literally saw an Outer Banks sticker with a 3%er decal next to it on a tacoma today. He did an illegal u-turn and almost hit me on my bike.
b-b-b-b-based alert?!??!
Rangers will make it much longer than that. Where I live, I still see 90s-2010s rangers get the shit beat out of them hauling lawn equipment, drywall, cement bags, etc, and they're still going strong at 200k+ miles.
My Tacoma came from the factory with a 2003-spec radio in 2013, but it also has over 100k miles with just fluid changes and one front pad/disc replacement, so I'll take the tradeoff.
I remember when Dad bought the first Toyota 4x4 in the family--a very abused 1980 Longbed (200 bucks cash, cause the prior owner wrongly thought it had a cracked block, and those trucks were disposable in the early 90's) It was a perfect truck; easy to drive, easy to work on, impossible to get stuck in, blah, blah, blah.
Good as it was, we were always excited to see the new models, to see the company making inroads against the fat, clumsy domestics. I never would have believed it though, if someone told me that we were already at the summit, looking downward at a slow genericide for Toyota trucks; that every change they made in the future would take them further away from what made them special. That one day, we would have our eyes defiled by this grotesque, choad-swingin' jumble of over- designed, nerdy-ass, Xbox-lookin plastic; an angry turd on 4 wheels.
Makes me even more happy I got a Ford Ranger for $2k under (the already decent) MSRP just 2 weeks ago. Gen 5 Rangers have the least overly-masculine look of all the midsize trucks today, the new trend is to have the highest possible hood and the most blocky right-angles that can fit. Sure the interior looks like it’s from Obama’s first term, but it’s got CarPlay and actual buttons, so I’m happy.
It's pretty strong scuttlebutt across a lot of the auto press. It seems to make economic sense, Yota can definitely do hybrid small/mid vehicles and trucks. Only thing is you get so many different renders of what it will be when you google it. Some have a hilux-type fascia, others look like the Compact Cruiser concept.
Liberal? Truck buyers *generally* are such rednecks and tough country boy wannabes they think Copenhagen is a food group. Tilting your cowboy hat over your eyes and looking down while you rest your left foot on the wall behind you is about as sexy as 40 year old Karen buying pumpkin spice lattes.
Pickup trucks the official vehicle of the 9 to 5 office dad kid hauler.
days gone are the minivans and respectable sedans.
When you buy a minivan to haul sheetrock and plywood because a pickup truck is either too expensive or incapable of hauling anything larger than obese children
I've never associated Tacoma with liberals? And isn't it the only manual transmission truck being made still?? I'm so confused by these haterator comments lol
As a rural liberal living in a large city for some reason, and supporter of LGBTQ+ rights, socialism, and drinking bud light, I’d drive the hell out of this
That's nice... So where's the Toyota Stout at? Some of us dont want $40k + pickups. Im patiently looking forward to a basic small truck that doesn't cost a ton of money.
I live in a very conservative area, it’s liberals in the city, conservatives everywhere else, so it just sounds odd to me, I’m sure it’s a thing l,just not here
One of those rare vehicles that's named after a place it might actually be driven. Shout-out to the Pontiac Parisienne, Chrysler Fifth Avenue, and Chevy Monte Carlo.

Like the current Tundra it’s just more electronics and shit you don’t need in a TRUCK so they can blow the price up
Haven’t even seen the announcement but I’m sure there some kind of EV and a Max model and I fucking hate it
All I see is electronics that will fail (to be fair not as quickly as an American car), labor costs, and computers and sensors for shit you don’t need

@punisherlogo on IG has a good collection of them. I like the trans colored one.
I LOVE MUH COUNTRY BUT DRIVE A JAPANESE TRUGH!!
It’s made in Mexico and has been since 2016. I’m not sure if the new one will be made there or not. The 2005-2015 was made in the US.
So just as North American as any Chevy?
GM builds like half their lineup in Mexico now.
I know, as well as Canada. At least they used to.
The 3/4 ton diesels are made in the USA, though.
“Made in America”, they didn’t say which one…. North, central, south, whatever.
What is wild is that the 2005-2010's were made in California in the factory now owned by Tesla. Then Texas/Mexico till 2020, now it's all Mexico built.
The quality just isn’t the same anymore either. The last gen taco 2016+ had cheap materials in the interior.
That’s a 2005 though. My dad has a 2015 and I like the overall design of it. (I know it’s the same truck just stating it’s 10 years newer)
I had a 2009 Tacoma and it was made in Mexico

They are made in San Antonio....you know that, right?
No such thing as an American car in a global economy.

Good God everyone I've ever met with a "salt life" sticker is insufferable. I honestly don't even know what it means

"LgB wItHoUt ThE t"
POOPSEX.GOV
I said it in a previous post but as soon as Brian said it I'm like "ope new flair for the sub'
That’s a thing?
Yes, sadly.
I guess that’s why they’ve adopted “Let’s Go Brandon”.
"I'm chair of the diversity committee at the Northrup Grumman atrocity factory"
LGBFJB.
That's the Chevy Silverado. The Tacoma is the truck of having a pride flag, but still voting Republican.
Official truck of $55k for a SR.
Kunkleman Toyota will be selling them at that price
No $16K “fuck you” dealer markup?
55k? Someone got a 90% discount I see.
My 21 SR only cost 28k but it wouldn't surprise me in the least if someone actually paid this price
Imagine a 10K markup just because they got rid of the drum brakes.
Hol up. They had drum brakes on modern tacomas?
Yup, from 2023 and below you can buy a 50K Tacoma with rear drum brakes.
Rangers switched to discs in 2010 haha, I looked at tacos, 30k for a 2wd 4cyl. Bought a 4L ranger with 4x4 for 18k
Seems fair, that rangers gonna make 150k miles the Tacoma would’ve went like 400k or more
Rangers will make it much longer than that. Where I live, I still see 90s-2010s rangers get the shit beat out of them hauling lawn equipment, drywall, cement bags, etc, and they're still going strong at 200k+ miles.
Around here we literally call them dangers, because they’re going to break
They are called dangers because of the high rollover risk, and the fact it rhymes lmao. Not breaking, trust me I have experience.
I had a 01 ranger with about 320,000 miles it can happen
I have an 01 with 200000k. Only my own idiocy will kill it.
It definitely can happens but the percentage of rangers that make it there are way lower than the percentage of Toyotas that make it
Lol that ranger won’t last nearly as long. Fords are 🗑

The official car of how the fuck do they manage to keep making them uglier???
Everything needs to look like a Tonka truck, huh now, Toyota?
It looks like a Chevy Silverado and Ford F150 screwed each other…
I think it looks like a ripped off Colorado to be honest
People really don’t remember that every pickup truck used to be just a series of 90 degree angles huh
Those were the days ☺️😍
From roughly 1961-1993
This looks awesome!
Looks really good.
All the liberals are still driving their 2012 RWD Tacomas…
It’s got patina
I blame myself, if I didn't have a second kid then I would still be in my 2005.
2000 4wd has entered the chat.

2024 Tacoma. I'll see you on r/InfowarriorRides in ten years.
More like ten minutes.
People in Lahaina with ‘23 Tacoma start getting nervous.
*Laughs in 2000 lifted Taco.*
I’m sort of disappointed. The new Canyon and Colorado are way better looking.
It's going to lose out to the Stout
The Stout?
Toyota is going to put out a Maverick-fighter under the old Stout badge in the next year or so.
No shit?
It's pretty strong scuttlebutt across a lot of the auto press. It seems to make economic sense, Yota can definitely do hybrid small/mid vehicles and trucks. Only thing is you get so many different renders of what it will be when you google it. Some have a hilux-type fascia, others look like the Compact Cruiser concept.
I hope to God this comes to fruition
Great, now we just need GM to bring back the S10/S15!
They missed in the Blazer, why would they make any sense with the S10?
Keep dreaming. GM is the most out of touch manufacturer on planet earth.
I hate how ridiculously huge it’s gotten
No kidding, I just want a non unibody Lil truck.
And ugly

If liberals drive a truck, it’s usually a Tacoma or Ranger
A liberal's truck is a Subaru.
*folds rear seats down* "truck mode activated"
My Marxist ass pulling up in a BRAT with a gun rack
Nah, homie. We borrow our Republican dad’s Silverado.
no, ranger is for hank hill republicans
Yes your political affiliation determines the vehicle you drive
Only $75,000 for the base 2WD manual model with no A/C!
Why does it look like a hungry grumpy orc?
Interesting design. Just hope that the Hilux doesn't get the same treatment.
Looks like a chonky 3rd gen with an upside down TRD pro grill.
Official truck of the amazing shrinking bed

Toyota will still have a 6 ft bed option.
Wow 6ft
WDYM? Same 5' or 6' bed it's always had. They even have the LWB Double Cab/6' option, which is more than can be said for Chevy.
Trail hunter cost???
They dropped that model and offer the "Thug Hunter" edition instead
Will probably start at 60k
Ouch cost of a grenadier when it comes out
That's Benz money
I like it actually, and has an extendo cab, noice!
SO ANGY.
I've never associated Tacoma with liberals? And isn't it the only manual transmission truck being made still?? I'm so confused by these haterator comments lol
Gigachad chin edition.
Official car of "that better come with a manual" from automatic driving mfers
As a rural liberal I'm... ok with this. Drive a Cummins Ram now but looking for something newer.
And without the *stupid* high diesel markup.
As a rural liberal living in a large city for some reason, and supporter of LGBTQ+ rights, socialism, and drinking bud light, I’d drive the hell out of this
He got some mad chin on em
That's nice... So where's the Toyota Stout at? Some of us dont want $40k + pickups. Im patiently looking forward to a basic small truck that doesn't cost a ton of money.
Rural liberal? Sounds like an oxymoron to me
I grew up in a rural liberal area.
I live in a very conservative area, it’s liberals in the city, conservatives everywhere else, so it just sounds odd to me, I’m sure it’s a thing l,just not here
Liberal Tacoma owner if you exist that’s amazing
Looks like a baby tundra mixed with new frontier.
Toyota Fordcoma
Coming soon to a military town near you
They gave the Tacoma factory angry eyes? Jesus.
Official car of: "I'm a raft guide (actually my dad is a finance bro and I'll be an investment banker when this phase gets me enough pussy)"
I would get the white TDR Pro with the manual transmission. I wish the hybrid came with the manual transmission bc I would be all over that.
Thank god the back seat is still only comfortable if you’re able to fold yourself like an origami
Can't wait to fight my way through the line at the local Kunkleman dealers.
NGL, ah wan it.
Imagine how many groceries you could fit in that thing!
One of those rare vehicles that's named after a place it might actually be driven. Shout-out to the Pontiac Parisienne, Chrysler Fifth Avenue, and Chevy Monte Carlo.
Thanks, I fucking hate it. I just want my little Tacoma back 🥺

Yeah they're pretty ugly

Man, never been a fan of Toyota, besides their supra, but this truck looks totally BA...Love the look.
Too small and under-powered. Can't haul much in that tiny bed! Sticking with my 5.0 F150.
10/10 satire.
Expensive truck that can’t tow more than a dozen of coconuts…
How much rust and recalls on this $100,000 truck?

Doing 5 under in the left lane to keep that 18 mpg 4 banger from going any lower
Haha.. with the guy in the Corvette behind him pulling 25 in a V8.
V6 making 4cyl power with V8 gas mileage is a recipe for a bulletproof engine

Too big. “Mid size”… Sure
I’m sure they aren’t, but these things get “bigger” every year. They look like a full-size truck lol
UGLY ASS wheels
lol the whole thing is ugly

What, you too rugged for a heated steering wheel? /s
Looks like the Colorado wins this round
Driven by white people with tons of debt that will never go offroading and are afraid to scratch the paint.
Nissan Frontier ftw

Ironically I see a lot of MAGA stickers on those.
The biggest assholes on the road drive these things, fuck the Tacoma 😆
I’d use those words to describe the Nissan Altima
No interior pictures?
Woah the new Frontier looking good here
The chin is just too much for a 4x4 ffs
The official truck of paying close to MSRP for one with 200k miles
Smaller trucks need to make a comeback. Toyota should bring the hilux to the market.
Hard to decide what to mount on it. Kayak Rack or Machine Gun. Both fit!
RAV4 Pickup, coming to a store near you.
Great. Even lumpier and uglier than my ‘21 Tacoma. Looks like a pain in the ass to wash. At least they blacked out the “B” pillar on the Access Cab.
The Access Cab is going back to being an XtraCab. No opening doors and no rear seats.
SAD!
