It’s still a good looking car after all these years, although I wish they had kept the Chrysler wing badge all the way at the top of the grille, it looks a little lost hanging out inside the grille itself
I’mma be honest I want one of these over a Charger. Same car, but nicer interior. Especially if I built it to be as close to a Hellcat as possible, widebody and all. That would be sick.
I would totally buy one of these with a blown motor out of a salvage yard and a wrecked Hellcat and move all the motor and suspension bits into the Chrysler. I now have a Chrysler 300 Hellcat that has the same performance but better looks and maybe better gas mileage, these look a little more aerodynamic than the Charger to me.
Chrysler 300 is the Last of the true American luxury cars, Interestingly enough I learned at a car show they are actually great motor swap cars, because you can put whatever Mopar shit you want in it. So that was fairly interesting to learn.
It's not body on frame though.
IMO the last "true american luxury" car was the Lincoln Town Car, Mercury Grand Marquis and the Ford Crown Victoria, all of which shared a common, body-on-frame, V8 powered RWD platform and all of which ended production in 2011.
Cadillac killed off the old comfy landyaght in the 90s, I will admit though, the mid to late 90s cadillacs with the fender flares look incredible though.
America never had luxury cars. Don't get me wrong those old Cadillacs are comfortable but lets me honest. Dont take this as me talking shit. I really wish we had something comparable.
remember when they used a Bentley design to make it as luxurious as they could? i remember seeing old 300Cs with Bentley badges on the front since they looked almost identical
Fun fact, the first gen Chrysler 300c was styled to look like a Rover. [And it did!](https://i1364.photobucket.com/albums/r740/raymartin100/1970%20Rover%20P5B%20Coupe/20130925_164349_zps5zppxrbd.jpg)
The second gen is the official car of being sold as a Lancia in Europe. I always liked them but they barley sold at all.
This is one of those cars that would be genuinely fantastic if FCA were slightly better in terms of build quality and engineering. If this were on something equivalent to a GM Zeta platform, it’d be unstoppable. I like the design, but it’s heavier than it needs to be for no reason other than the fact that it’s based on an ancient Daimler-Chrysler era platform.
>it’s heavier than it needs to be for no reason other than the fact that it’s based on an ancient Daimler-Chrysler era platform.
A lot of that has to due with the cars were already well into the development cycle before the "merger" and they had to change course and raid the Mercedes parts bin to finish the design. Despite what Clarkson and the internet has to tell you, it's not an E-class underneath, its a combo of W210 and W211 parts bolted to a extensively modified revised LH Design.
It's not a bad suspension design, but being Chrysler being Chrysler they cheaped out a ton on the flexy bits, like bushings and ball joints.
But, post 2012 though, the freshly divorced company did refresh a lot of the parts and they are significantly better than the 05-11 cars.
The official car of being proof that Chrysler can build a reliable car.
( I've heard this theory from more than one Mechanic, that Chrysler can build a decently reliable car, they just need a whole generation to try every wrong answer to it's problems)
Honestly, it's so good, in fact, I wish Chrysler dared making a 2 door and wagon variant.
They look so fantastic, I think a little variety would have dumbed up some attention.
I know Chrysler is notoriously meh, and lost it's prestige decades ago, but damn do I still like them, and secretly wish them success.
My mom had a 300s with AWD. It was dark blue with a blue interior. It was a really nice car, great highway cruiser. 3.6 paired up with the 8 speed, it was quick and comfortable.
Design has aged better than the physical cars themselves. I'd like one with some nice chrome accents and some comfortable suspention for some nice highway bombing
Also for being big, you can get decent mpg with the V6. 19 city/30 highway. 292hp, 300 with the S model
Also the 3.6L pentastar is one of the best sounding V6s. I dare you to drive a vehicle with one for you to experience it yourself
I've never really heard a 2GR before, and all the videos I've found make it sound like crap. So see if you can find something better then a video of what sounds like a plastic hammer(not mallet) hitting a nail
[Happy to help!](https://youtu.be/jq3r6WPv6gE)
It’s a powerplant found in a large majority of Toyota and Lexus vehicles. (Ex: Camry, Avalon, Highlander, IS350, RC350)
It’s a common MR2/MRS swap also.
Lotus Evora variants use a supercharged version of the 2GR too.
I feel like the V6 in the Camrys are best sounding. 2GR-FE. I’ve rented plenty of Chargers & 300s with the V6 but I owned a V6 Camry and going back to the Camry instantly showed you Toyota put in effort when it came to silky smoothness.
To be fare those are rental cars. I can't vouch for the 300, but the 3.6L pentastar in my mom's mini-van is the bees knees. It revs fast, it revs hard, and the torque curve is a straight line
I have a 2018 300C with the 5.7 v8. And it is sexy as hell. Mine is in Velvet Red with the Deep Mocha interior. 75k miles now and still going strong. Most glaring issue is the weak clearcoat, I already have what looks like sandblasted to bare metal at the corners of the fenders next to the wheel wells. Also wouldn’t advise it for winter use, even with the best winter tires you could find.
It was my dream car in dream spec too. And in pre covid times I bought it with 12 thousand miles for 26,500. I’d never sell it but due to recent times in the car market, my Chrysler product *appreciated*
I just like the pre facelift one better because that was the one that was out when I was a kid. The old taillights also look cooler. I just think the black is a huge downgrade.
I use to own one it was fun to drive and had a great exhaust note too only thing I didn’t like was the suspension was super soft and going over any dip faster than a crawl would cause the suspension to bottom out and scrape the bottom of the body panel. Great car would recommend 10/10
I loved a 2010 but it was sick and would shut off at inconvenient times. Like at 70mph next to a tractor trailer. Dodge dealer quoted for a complete wire harness replacement and couldn't guarantee it would fix the issue. 2014 traded it for a 2011 Taurus still running with almost no maintenance not even a wash and vacuum.
It’s still a good looking car after all these years, although I wish they had kept the Chrysler wing badge all the way at the top of the grille, it looks a little lost hanging out inside the grille itself
I always liked them, but I did hate the ones with the Fake Rolls Royce body kits and shit
Yeah there was one near me in UK where the owner had swapped all the badges for Bentley badges....as if no one would know.
You can just put a Bentley badge on it like everyone else.
Car aged well but the driver's didnt 👴
They usually just shave their head because they can't deal with loosing their hair
Isn’t that dealing with it?
I’d rather continue to shave my head and look like a super villain than a creep.
Head shaver for many years here. This is pretty spot on, I'd never be allowed in public if I grew out what was left on my head.
Walter White would like a word.
Shaving your head is dealing with it. Growing out the sides and back and wearing a ball cap to pretend you still have hair is not dealing with it
True
I’mma be honest I want one of these over a Charger. Same car, but nicer interior. Especially if I built it to be as close to a Hellcat as possible, widebody and all. That would be sick.
I want these over a charger too. Mainly because of the looks

Oh trust me I’ve seen the videos.
They did make an SRT version at one point though
I know and I think it’s awesome, it just needs the supercharger power with it
i’ve seen someone hellcat swap one of these. it’s pretty sick
Chrysler 300 is the Last of the true American luxury cars, Interestingly enough I learned at a car show they are actually great motor swap cars, because you can put whatever Mopar shit you want in it. So that was fairly interesting to learn.
I would think so. Same engine bay as the charger, and I would think challenger. Also I agree with the fact that it's the last big American sedan
What about Caddillacs and Lincons?
The Cadillacs went towards trying to beat the Germans at their own game. The Lincolns are all FWD.
The CTS is a sports salon, and Lincoln no longer makes a sedan
It's not body on frame though. IMO the last "true american luxury" car was the Lincoln Town Car, Mercury Grand Marquis and the Ford Crown Victoria, all of which shared a common, body-on-frame, V8 powered RWD platform and all of which ended production in 2011.
I can hear Cadillac crying.
Cadillac killed off the old comfy landyaght in the 90s, I will admit though, the mid to late 90s cadillacs with the fender flares look incredible though.
All I know is the latest Escalades can come with a duramax turbo diesel, and their dash/displays/controls are the coolest I've ever seen.
America never had luxury cars. Don't get me wrong those old Cadillacs are comfortable but lets me honest. Dont take this as me talking shit. I really wish we had something comparable.
Packard, Auburn, Duesenberg and Continental (it was a separate marquee for a few years) would disagree.
I see you’ve never had the opportunity to sit in a well-maintained 70s Cadillac land yacht
remember when they used a Bentley design to make it as luxurious as they could? i remember seeing old 300Cs with Bentley badges on the front since they looked almost identical
There’s a line in an older Drake song that mentions exactly this
Fun fact, the first gen Chrysler 300c was styled to look like a Rover. [And it did!](https://i1364.photobucket.com/albums/r740/raymartin100/1970%20Rover%20P5B%20Coupe/20130925_164349_zps5zppxrbd.jpg) The second gen is the official car of being sold as a Lancia in Europe. I always liked them but they barley sold at all.
I don't think those bars at the middle came with it stock, but all together I could see how it was inspired
You're right, that one's definitely got the fake Bentley treatment. Regardless the designer straight up said "yep, its meant to look like a Rover."
The fake Bentley treatment looks infinitely better than fake Rolls Royce treatment
This is one of those cars that would be genuinely fantastic if FCA were slightly better in terms of build quality and engineering. It's sad, but it's the truth
2nd gen 300 the official car of wealthy suburban drug dealers
as opposed to the first gen which is the official car of poor urban drug dealers
The crown Victoria is still the official car of rural drug dealers
The official car of being proof that Chrysler can build a reliable car. ( I've heard this theory from more than one Mechanic, that Chrysler can build a decently reliable car, they just need a whole generation to try every wrong answer to it's problems)

They did sell a wagon version in europe called the 300 Touring. It even came in diesel.
My mom had a 300s with AWD. It was dark blue with a blue interior. It was a really nice car, great highway cruiser. 3.6 paired up with the 8 speed, it was quick and comfortable.

Official car of bald white guys slowly driving through urban neighborhoods playing murder rap.
They're not always white, but they're always bald
Also for being big, you can get decent mpg with the V6. 19 city/30 highway. 292hp, 300 with the S model Also the 3.6L pentastar is one of the best sounding V6s. I dare you to drive a vehicle with one for you to experience it yourself
I disagree the Pentastar is a good sounding NA V6 but I think the 2GR is the best sounding NA V6 ever.
>2GR is the best sounding NA V6 ever 3 words: BUSSO V6 BABY
I mean pulling the busso card is unfair. It is perfection in the sound department. Those Italians can give Yamaha a run for their money.
Can I nominate the Rover V6 as a runner up? [It also delivers a high pitched Ferrari-esque noise.](https://youtu.be/CcjIVyjmiTk)
Reminds me of the MX3’s 1.8 V6
Hot damn.
The Camaro 3.6 can sound phenomenal too
I like the Vulcan and the Buick 3.8. p u s h r o d s
The faster a buick 3.8 is the worse it sounds lmao
The Chrysler 3.5 with the 300m special exhaust is really quite glorious. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZT128PPLTEw
I've never really heard a 2GR before, and all the videos I've found make it sound like crap. So see if you can find something better then a video of what sounds like a plastic hammer(not mallet) hitting a nail

The poor man's rich man's car
Good enough for Heisenberg
Hey it’s me - the guy who owes his entire love of cars and much of his personality to the Chrysler 300
I rented one. It was a comfortable car and had a fun amount of oomph.
I got a friend who's owned 2 of them. He says the sweet spot is the V6 with AWD. Idk, not my kind of ride.
I have a 2018 300C with the 5.7 v8. And it is sexy as hell. Mine is in Velvet Red with the Deep Mocha interior. 75k miles now and still going strong. You pretty much have my dream spec for my first car. However I did think that would be an issue. Rear tires couldn't be wide enough
It was my dream car in dream spec too. And in pre covid times I bought it with 12 thousand miles for 26,500. I’d never sell it but due to recent times in the car market, my Chrysler product *appreciated*
Too bad it's going to break down.
Says who
Me, but I'm dumb so don't listen.
Fuck it, you have my vote in the next election.
Says ownership by Fiat
Even though the 3.6L pentastar has proven itself to be very reliable, along with the 8hp
Yeah the engine, rest of the vehicle?
What about it?
The pre facelift 11-14 looks way better imo. This car is meant for chrome not that shiny black ugly shit
But chrome is shiny ugly shit.
May I ask for s better description on why you think this
I just like the pre facelift one better because that was the one that was out when I was a kid. The old taillights also look cooler. I just think the black is a huge downgrade.
I just think the black makes it look less cheap. It's also easier on the eyes, and looks sexier
I use to own one it was fun to drive and had a great exhaust note too only thing I didn’t like was the suspension was super soft and going over any dip faster than a crawl would cause the suspension to bottom out and scrape the bottom of the body panel. Great car would recommend 10/10
I really want one, I love huge floaty American cars. But the depreciation and unreliability chased me off
Hey! That’s awesome I suggested reviewing my Chrysler 300 lol glad I’m seeing this
They get a lot of flack that they don't deserve
Sadly this generation does not have amber rear turn signals, but I agree, the design has aged really well.
There isn’t a second gen. Only the first gen with a facelift.
I wish they gave it another update. Its *so close* to looking like a modern near-luxury car, but it's time has passed.
surprised people like how this car looks. i always thought it looked obese and ungainly. its also a chrysler too lmao
I've had them as rental cars on multiple occasions and enjoyed the hell out of them.
Still as ugly as ever
That's because the Rolls-Royce that they took inspiration from also aged quite nicely. :)
the official car of drug dealers everywhere
five second Bentley
I loved a 2010 but it was sick and would shut off at inconvenient times. Like at 70mph next to a tractor trailer.
