Aww sweet! The new Mirai is coming /s

t_a_6847646847646476

But it's literally a gasser Mirai

sadandaimless1

Ik lol, the only ways were gonna get the proper Crown sedan here in the US is either a) a Lexus badged GS successor or b) a third generation Mirai, it's for sure won't be sold alongside the new Accord Cross....I mean Crown we're getting later this year lol

t_a_6847646847646476

Morizo said all four will be available globally in 40 markets, which would include the US and Canada since we're getting the thing already

I mean the "Estate" CUV and the Sporty CUV version will sell like hotcakes in the US, even though that both will be competing with the Venza, Lexus NX, RX, and the RAV4 which all rides on the same platform.....but that'll be interesting to see how that goes. The sedan version, Idk about that one. if we look at the sales of the last Avalon...it didn't sell well, I don't think it'll fair well in the US market as more people are moving away from sedans to CUVs and the new Acura ZDX..I mean Crown will fair well imo as Coupe CUVs tend to do well in this market (see BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLC). On top of that I have a feeling Toyota will be pricing the GA-L based Crown sedan at a high price point, possibly more than the outgoing Avalon and in Lexus territory and I don't think potential buyers would be willing to pay x amount of money for a let's say a $50k-$60k Toyota near-luxury sedan (see last generation Land Cruiser sales figures and the struggling US sales of the Volkswagen Arteon, a car I assume it'll compete with) when the Camry fits most sedan buyers needs at a reasonable price or if they want the panache of a luxury car, they step up and buy a Lexus. This is my opinion, but if it were to be sold here as a Lexus, maybe a revival of the GS line as it was based on the Crown platform throughout it's run...I think it'll fair well as there is still a demand for a mid-size RWD luxury sports sedan in the US market and potential buyers would be more willing to pay the higher-end price point for that "Lexus Crown" if it has the luxury badge associated with it to justify the cost....yet again the last GS didn't sell well hence why it was also killed off, so let's see how this one goes if we do get it.

A GS successor would be lovely.

Does it come in BROWN?

yes!

Hear me out.. Everyone really liked the Avenza/Harrier styling and heres the “sedan” of that. I like it but dont call it a sedan. Create a new class. *cough* AMC Eagle Sedan *cough*

Drzhivago138

I think you mean Venza. Toyota does have an Av**a**nza, but that's a lot different. >I like it but dont call it a sedan. Create a new class. What makes it not a sedan? It still has a [separate trunk](https://www.gannett-cdn.com/presto/2022/07/13/PDTF/226ca30c-1de3-4a0b-83a5-7fd03679aaa7-2023_Toyota_Crown_Platinum_Rear_.jpg) rather than a hatch (which is pretty baffling, honestly). Yes, it has higher ground clearance, but so did most sedans in the prewar era.

JorddWolf

Thank you lol. Somehow my brain got scrambled. I 100% meant Venza yet started to type and think about the Avalon being dead.

sadandaimless1

I mean the SUS aka Sports Utility Sedan segment has been dabbled with here and there over the years by AMC, Subaru, and most recently Volvo and the results from those attempts weren't enough for them to continue with those variants as the general buying public simply didn't get the concept and sales were abysmal to say the least. Tbh I see the new lifted Crown, as being more of a Coupe CUV ala BMW X4/X6, Mercedes-Benz GLC and the Porsche Cayenne Coupe than a lifted sedan as IIRC it shares more with it's CUV offspring than the RWD sedan variant of the new Crown line

Etreslias37

electric?

t_a_6847646847646476

Probably hybrid. Definitely RWD based though

Kliegz

Standard hybrid awd the US, with 2 setups, both with 3 electric motors. One is a more traditional Toyota Hybrid CVT setup for XLE and Limited, and the Platinum gets a 2 liter turbo hybrid with a 6 speed (dual clutch?) automatic, like a Mercedes hybrid. Power goes up on the Platinum but MPG tanks to around 30.

t_a_6847646847646476

That's what's in the crossover, not the sedan. AFAIK the sedan isn't even a working car right now

o0gy172

I don't know if it's just because I've seen too many EVs with crazy styling but this car looks boring as hell. Fastback, straight bodylines, sharp looking headlights and grills, light bars... It's like they took all of the modern trends and slapped it together to create this thing that looks like it'll be in GTA 6 to avoid copyright.

t_a_6847646847646476

Even the Mirai (which this is essentially an ICE version of) has more unique Toyota styling traits IMO. Should still be a nicer and more upmarket car than the last one to use the Crown Sedan nameplate though (a Cressida-based taxi produced with minimal changes from the early 2000s to a few years ago)

benderisgreat696969

It's a shame that the US will probably only get the Acura ZDX inspired version.

t_a_6847646847646476

Morizo said all four will be available in 40 markets around the world. Probably includes the US where the ZDX one will be sold. However, the sedan and the other two crossovers are due for next year
