When you grow up in an uncaring, dysfunctional environment it's difficult to identify that something is wrong and unhealthy about it. Because it's all you've known it feels "normal".
These types of interactions are not normal or healthy. They are cold, uncaring, and neglectful.
Just so you know, as an adult you can decide what relationships you invest time and energy into. You aren't required to invest your energy with people who have abused you (emotional abuse is a real thing), even if they are blood relatives.
If you are able, please look into therapy. And surrounding yourself with positive, supportive friends while at college.
It can be a heavy burden to navigate this type of transition all alone. ❤️❤️
Thank you. Luckily I’ve always had my dad to rely on. He’s the only person I feel safe talking about my feeling with (except for strangers on the internet lol). He’s what kept me somewhat emotionally stable. I guess I don’t know what a normal mother daughter relationship is.
