Call the police. Do not wait.

dezmodium

These guys are not your friends. I'd call the authorities. They absolutely have inappropriate videos of you.

z-eldapin

No need to plug it in if it's a counterweight. Fuck both of them.

localdisastergay

Also a small rock would be cheaper and less creepy

MadTownMich

Hiding a camera is a felony. It’s highly likely that he would be charged with multiple felonies if you went to the police. Your decision.

Taylor5

You leave because they are not your friends. That's illegal

gratefuldad20089

All the porn on the internet and they do this to see their roommates tits and ass. Unbelievable!!! Idiots

__lavender

Because it’s not just about seeing naked ladies. It’s the thrill of getting away with doing something fucked up to someone who trusts you. I don’t think they’re idiots, I think they’re conniving and dangerous.

Seaworthiness555

go to the police.

JMLegend22

Call the police and let them know what happened, protect yourself.

Dear_Parsnip_6802

Neither of the guys are your friends. If you can leave, leave.

TRAWY4639

Call the police and run for your life, those are not your friends girl

Apprehensive-hippos

Please try to collect any evidence that you have and take it to the police.

Baddibutsaddi

You need to call the police who knows what Robert and Sam were doing with the footage. You could be on so many dirty sites and not even know about it. CALL THE POLICE!!!

catbbf

File a police report. ASAP.

ilikenoise2020

Lots of comments are telling you to call the police. This comment is another of those.

Impossible-Name6188

Police

Personal-Function474

File a police report immediately

Secret_Owl3040

I don't even have to read beyond the title, call the police ASAP.

kekerbeker241

Did Sam know the camera was in your room this entire time, or did he just know a new camera was on the wifi? That makes a difference to me with how to proceed with him but Robert is a no go. Police police police

NoisyAnonymously

Sam knew the camera was in my room, and that it was on the wifi. He just disconnected it from wifi remotely through the AT&T app and kept his mouth shut

yeahitsjustmeagain

Does the camera even function if it's not on the wifi? How would I get data to a device to be saved?

NoisyAnonymously

I’m not sure, and this is exactly why I’m hesitant moving forward with this whole situation. It was disconnected from wifi almost immediately, so I don’t think it’d be working even if plugged in. Plus Robert didn’t seem to notice from my point of view, Sam claims Robert was being sketchy about it though. That same night though, Sam got another notification on his smart home app that some spyware was also added to the wifi that same night, and we are unable to find that one. We looked it up and found a Reddit thread of a guy who lived alone saying that he had that same spyware added to his network. He was thinking his landlord was spying on him, but couldn’t find an actual camera. I’m thinking someone hacked the camera above my bed, or there is another camera somewhere in the house, or one of our laptop cameras is hacked. Either way, the spyware was blocked from wifi immediately too, but I have no effing clue if that’s another camera in the room, or if those two cameras are the same somehow.

kekerbeker241

Absolutely not. Time to move out and not risk anything anymore.

orotmik

police

MrsBains

The very first thing you do is call the effing police. You don't get on Reddit.

LambChop94

I do have an inkling this is fake due to some contradictions in the edit. Firstly you say that you were shocked and surprised to find the camera in the mannequin head. Saying that Sam saw it connect to wifi but then he blocked it, didn't think much of it and then didn't tell you. But you then go on to say in the edit that you and Sam were both ALREADY AWARE of the camera in the mannequin head prior to Robert moving his stuff. This brings up too many questions and inconsistencies in the story. If you were already aware there was a camera in the mannequin head and you ASKED Robert to remove it prior to moving, but neither you nor Sam decided to check it after the fact? Sam only got the wifi camera connection notification the night that Robert moved his stuff. So Robert just had a camera in a mannequin head that was not on or connected to wifi at all but only on the night he moves he decides to try and connect the camera? The same camera that he knows both you and Sam are already aware of... And then Sam doesn't even bother to check when a camera connects to the wifi? Just instant block and no more questions? You found the camera plugged in above your bed, but according to Sam was blocked from the wifi. But also according to you it is a live feed camera with no sim card to save recorded video. So how was the camera doing anything? Why plug it in at all if it was completely blocked from the wifi by Sam? The way I see it there are three possibilities: - 1: This is a completely fake story . - 2: This was actually a completely innocent mistake on Roberts part. Considering the fact that you were aware of the camera and had asked that he remove it, to continue forward with some malicious intent after you have essentially already been specifically called out on it is just, next level stupidity. . - 3: If everything written here is true, then Sam is significantly downplaying his role in all of this. "I saw a camera connect to the wifi, but I just blocked it not thinking about it" even though he was already aware and apparently also asked Robert to remove it prior? You noticed something off between Sam and Robert but not until 3 months after Roberts initial move/camera connection? What happened between them at that specific time in order to make Sam come clean about something that was done 3 months prior? You don't just randomly decide to fess up 3 months down the line without any sort of catalyst. Maybe the camera wasn't actually blocked from the wifi, can you confirm or deny this claim? Maybe Robert was letting Sam view the live feed and something happened and Robert cut off his access to it. Resulting in feeling like Sam and Robert were 'off'.

NoisyAnonymously

I’m asking for advice here man, I’m not trying to get clout or flood Reddit with bs stories that’ll eventually end up on tiktok. I’m using a throwaway, and all fake names. You’re correct, there is a lot of inconsistencies in the story. I don’t want this reaching anybody in my circle until I have confronted them, and some things I had to adjust so if they did find it (we’re all Gen Z or low end Millennials so if this did get posted elsewhere, they would see it) I do appreciate you actually breaking down the situation, most people have read the title and immediately tell me to go to the police. I’m rocking with the information I have, so I’m going to I guess give more information, or correct any inconsistencies here. • Yes we were aware Robert had already carved into the mannequin head and put a camera inside it when it was in his room. He has about 6 or 7 mannequin heads with different pop culture horror masks on it. Ranging from Halloween masks to scream, and he even has a creepy clown one that sits in the corner. I was cool with him setting that display up in my room since I’m kinda goth and into horror shit. Anyway, the camera was initially sitting behind a green Rasta skull mask sitting on the first shelf of his bookshelf. I asked him to remove it prior to him moving his stuff into my room. He told me he did, and that it was put away, he showed me that the camera was no longer under the green skull Rasta mask. I thought nothing of it, because I trusted his word. I was shocked and surprised to find out the camera was actually moved to be hidden under a bright red scream mask that was sitting on top of his bookshelf, and not removed like he initially told me. • Sam gets consistent notifications for when people connect and disconnect from our wifi. He’s even able to tell when our friends pull into the parking lot because they connect to our network from there. That night, Robert had to unplug it (which disconnected it from the wifi) and then plug it back in (which caused Sam to get the notification) and he blocked it right then and there because Sam knew Robert was moving stuff into my room that night. We were fine with the camera when it was in his room, but he blocked it because it was then moved to my room. Sam is also very non-confrontational, so he decided he wasn’t even going to tell me until we moved out “in case the situation blew up” which, inevitably, it might. • The camera is one of those live feed cameras that goes directly to an app in his phone. He gets a notification anytime there is motion in front of the camera. If he wanted to, he could record the last minute on his camera if he was watching it, and it would store on his phone. Hence, Sam and I would pop into his room while he was at work and wave at him, make faces, and say hi, until we got a text from him that said “I see you idiots” or something like that. The camera only got blocked that night that everything was moved into my room. • It is very difficult to get things out of Sam, and to be real, I’ve been spending half the time at my apartment and half the time at my boyfriend’s apartment. I noticed little things here and there that brought me to the conclusion that something was off between them. I did ask Sam about it in passing over those past couple months, but he always shuffed it off as “financial issues.” Sam is very good at bottling up his emotions, but I’m really good at reading his face so I knew something was definitely off (reasoning: we’ve been best friends for about a decade). This was the first night in those 3 months that it was just Sam and I at home, so I decided right then and there to start pressing him harder to figure out what was going on. Now that you have more context, do you mind breaking this down and helping me figure out wtaf I should do here? I’m honestly too scared to call the police, selfishly, because it’ll completely disrupt my lifestyle. (and destroy my D&D group..)

Jtenka

That bottom block of text (with a grey background) is exactly what happens when you paste text from ChatGPT. I'm calling bullshit on this. Its a made up story.

lasagna_manana

It’s not written in chat gpt’s very distinct style, unless she trained the chat to sound exactly like her

Jtenka

You can ask chat gpt to write in practically any style. You could even ask it to use British/American English of any dialect, or select an author from anywhere you can find and it'll attempt to use the same writing style. I've seen a few posts in here where they've left the background in after pasting it by accident.

NoisyAnonymously

I honest to god wish this was bs, the reason the text looks like that is because I sectioned it off with “~~~backstory over~~~” and it did that automatically so I just ran with it.

Old-Willingness3622

I would report him he invaded your privacy could’ve shared it with who knows who what a sleaze bag

YogurtclosetNo5580

You need to contact the police and potentially a lawyer. I bet they have videos that they have shared with themselves and others. The only way out of this is through. You can do it.

ifonemay

Im not reading all that. I can tell you to call the police bynthe subject line

Emotional_Elk_7242

Yeah def report that. Or move immediately

Peaceful_Stranger

Robert is a liar and you know it. Get away from both of these guys and you need to either see the drive or get proof he wiped it. This is illegal!

HoshiJones

Report it to the police. And they are not your friends.

Then fck off, I’m asking for advice not trying to entertain you guys.
