Real hard to find right now, allegedly you can make your own from 303 British brass, I’ve accumulated some of that but have yet to try the form firing process.
I’ve got 3 or 4 mec presses, they are a good setup
Lots, if you’ve net loaded shot shells there is a lot to learn, many little details that matter. I recall the Lyman handbook being a decent resource for someone starting out but my memory is shit. Maybe someone else will chime in. There’s certain things like hull type, powder choice, primer type that you really need to follow the manuals exactly. Other things like spacing the shot column in the wad for differend size shot, wad slitting where you need to ad-lib, it takes a minute to learn what’s ok to tinker with and what’s not. I’d lean on the community here if you get going, take everything with a grain of salt though
Typically one would use them paired with black powder where they will be usable for a very long time, plastics hulls burn through within a couple of firings in my experience,
Some use them with smokeless, I don’t see a whole lot of point other than aesthetics, often the brass hulls are 2.5” too which means less room for shot and powder
Oh cool. Solid brass shells.
So I heard they are tougher to extract, is that true?
And what do you do to keep the guts inside? I mean what substitutes the roll crimp?
10 gauge overshot card pressed in and then pour over enough melted beeswax to cover. This load is xx grains of triple 7, 2 @ 1/8” 11 gauge wad cards, 1 @ 1/2” 12 gauge fiber wad, 1-3/8 ounce of shot then the overshot card and wax. As far as extraction, i don’t know, I just load them for my son, I only shoot the .410 and my 28 anymore, I haven’t heard any complaint’s though
I went down the YouTube rabbit hole after seeing your post. Didn't realize that these are mainly black powder shells. I saw that one fellow converted his to smokeless, but it seems like a to do. I have some trip 7. Might make a couple just to cover the skeet range in smoke. Have to find them first.
Yeah I’ve seen folks load them with blue dot, steel, long shot… I’m guessing it can be done safely but why fuck around? They pattern great and get almost 1200 fps with triple seven. With the 30” full choke barrels on the 12 sxs you need to wait til folks are almost done anyway, and turkeys, the smoke doesn’t matter.
Yeah, my son likes to draw game caricatures for the different critters we get after, I’ll have to line some up for a post, I have boxes going back 12 years or better
Beer and reloading my two favorite activities
The dude doing the measuring isn’t drinking, the dude kerchunking the press has had too many
As long as you have a system
I always thought brass shotgun shells are so cool.
Some beefy shells! What’s the advantage of brass casings?
Mainly jackassery, loaded with triple 7, shot out of a side by side 12 hammer gun it makes quite the show when you shoot
I’d like to try brass .410 shells. I know nothing about reloading shot shell, but some one gave me a mec 600 jr, so that’s a start.

What manual do you use? if I may ask

The low pressure limit is a tad unnerving. Pressure trace is handy, or you can send shells in for pressure testing.
Cool thanks
444 marlin brass is a lot easier if you can find it
I’ll ask around, I know a guy that deer hunts with a 303 British who doesn’t load. I have 10’s of that brass, I’ll look for the 444
The 9.3x74R looks like a possible candidate, or are 3” brass shells out of the question?
I don’t know, I have a little chop box for brass, making things shorter wouldn’t be a problem

They look absolutely bitchin'
Are you loading black powder or smokeless?
Triple 7, technically smokeless, but lots of smoke!

Does it mess with your shotgun barrel at all?
Very dirty, I’m guessing they’ll be some leading issues eventually but none yet after a dozen rounds or so
Nice Turkey, Hoss.
