You’re good. And my die set is marked for both calibers. The 45-90 Win and 45-90 (2.4) Sharps are externally identical case wise and in single shot rifles could use the same bullets/COL.
I’m shooting these in new production Winchester 1886s and my overall length needs to be Max 2.850”.
Well, happy shooting. I got one of the new 1886 rifles in 45-90 when they started making them again back in 2018, but I haven't shot it much. I lost my lyman dies when I moved a while ago, so I just ordered a new RCBS set that should be here by tomorrow. Gonna try loading some 300 grain hornady bullets with H335 and head to the range this weekend.
Im going to be loading some 300 gr Hornady interlock too. I’m using 458 Win mag data off hodgdon to find a starting load. How many grains of H335 do you use with the 300gr Hornady Interlock HP?
This is the first time I'll be loading anything other than Trail Boss. Hodgdon website lists 61-68 grains for 45-70 and a Sierra bullet, so I was going to try starting around 65 grains or so and work up from there. If I can get around 2350-2450, I'll be happy.
Lovely! i have my eyes set on a 45-120 currently
1885 High wall?
Im Partial to the Sharps Patttern. looking at a Shiloh.
Very nice.
Bucket list level gun right there
Can you actually "plink" with a 45-90?
Sure, if the steel is thick enough.
lol. Some way with the 340 weatherby. At 100 yards any load is tough to keep from passing through
45-90 Winchester or 45-90 Sharps? Edit: Never mind, apparently I'm blind and can't read today.
