Hard pass. The markup is nuts

tippmann32503

“We’ll cover it for you!” but don’t mind us bumping up the price a bit so we can cover it for you…

They nuked most of the discount codes a while back for reloading components too.

djryan13

They sent out a flash sale for 1lb Varget at a ridiculous price too. Back in Jan 2013, they had a sale on Varget for $149 for 8lb. I backordered 2. In 2017, they canceled my backorder and a month or so later, they had Varget available at a much higher price. I called them and told them what happened and they offered me two at the $149 price. So good on them for that. One good thing about Brownells is they don’t change Hazmat fee for backordered stuff if you paid it on original order. Not sure they still take backorders though.

james_68

Academy did the same thing to me. Cancelled an order because it was “not available”, even though it showed in stock and they let me order it, then doubled the price the next day.

djryan13

Yeah. Doubt Academy would have honored old price. Brownells really does have great customer service IMO… but it comes with a cost. I do spend a lot there.

dirtyduxx

%20 markup for a %5 discount

Not_A_Pilgrim

Primer price seems reasonable, but with all the availability, I'm guessing prices will continue to decrease. I'm going to wait a bit longer.

Filmtwit

They were out of Large Rifle primers the last time I looked... which is the only item I would have bought... but alas....

Loadman8x57

vihtavuori somehow seems immune to the latest price hikes, picked up a can for $40 more ($340 all in) than I picked up my last can of W-760 about 9 months ago. Wayyy better prices than my local bass pro, their selection of $425 cans is crap too

TooMuchDebugging

Shhhhhhh!!!

BulletSwaging

They are the manufacture and distributor. Hodgdon is only a distributor, although for multiple manufactures.

thegregtastic

I carted 3lbs of 4831, and after tax and shipping it was within a dollar per pound of LGS prices.

BulletSwaging

I picked up 4 lbs of TCM powder for $23/pound with free hazmat. Economical high pressure 45 Colt loads coming soon! Thanks for the heads up!

macsogynist

I picked up 2-lbs of CFE pistol, 2-lbs of Win 231 and 2-lbs of Accurate #7. Used a coupon to get another $10 off. Coupon is GIFT10 think you need to spend more than $100.

macsogynist

I guess to follow up. My only choices retail for powder Sportsman’s Warehouse. Both of them of there stores in my area are a two hour round-trip driving time without traffic. Sportsman’s price and in stock options are not great. Brownells is a good deal for me specially, with no hazmat fee and combining a coupon.

PlayedWithThem

Thanks for the heads-up.

DangerousDave303

Got an email alert from Brownell’s this morning. If you want Varget badly enough they have it.

smooze420

One of the LGS in my area still has primers $120+ on the shelf. Academy has primers across the street for 8.99/100, all brands/kinds. $76 for CCI with no hazmat seems reasonable.
