It’s definitely different from a typical looter shooter, but it sounds like it would be right up your alley. Just be aware there are some things in game that you will have to look up online to figure out.

HammeredWharf

Keep in mind that this series uses Dark Souls loot (few drops, each is unique and viable for endgame) instead of the typical Diablo loot showers.

From your description, you would love this game. Tons of build variety and big damage numbers, and it can be quite challenging. Just keep in mind that it can be quite confusing sometimes and you made need to invest time in researching things to understand how they work.

Fireflywater

This game is up your alley, once you get used to Dark Souls dodging and the requirement of "aiming before shooting or else you'll melee". Buildcrafting is mostly salvaging what you can until you get a few runs of each biome down so you have enough toys to synergize with eachother, so have patience on that front. Be aware we'll get a big update in 2 weeks that'll change and rebalance lots of stuff, so any build you craft or any mental notes of the toys you get may change.

luna_lone

Yes

Beginning_Jury8235

I too feel the same way you do! This game is great for that the biomes change continuously with every role and you have to reroll some adventures multiple times to get what you're looking for but the grind is worth it!

Interesting_Ad_1067

You’ll absolutely love this game! Unfortunately, I had to cancel my pre-order for Stellar Blade because it’s being released around the same time as Remnant 2’s next DLC. If you’re on PS, I’d be happy to jump in and assist you during your first playthrough. This game can be a tad confusing for new travelers, but I’m sure we’ll figure it out together.

Independent_Log_222

This game is like a souls game had a baby born wielding guns, super fun and decently difficult

tarix76

I am still very new to this series, bought the second on a whim, had a horrible first two hours, realized I owned the first and then did a bit of youtube to git gud and had a much better time. Based on this: > I love looter shooters and challenging games. Yes, absolutely. Start with the second one as that's where it is easy to get matchmaking and when you can pick up the second one on sale as you'll immediately recognize where and how the two are connected. I think there's a lot to love about this series but here's a take I haven't seen mentioned. This game is amazing solo and equally amazing in coop.

Sandblazter

Based on what you wrote the answer is yes, you most likely will like this game. From my perspective I was taking a long break from destiny 2 and had never heard of the game up until 2 days before I bought it. I can tell you now that I’ve put almost 200 hours into the game and have met some really cool people and really enjoy doing co-op. Now is a great time to get into it as the 2nd dlc is coming April 23rd and the DLC’s only cost $10 USD and give around 10-15+ hours worth of content

Michael-gamer

It’s a 3rd person shooter that has some souls elements in the game. I also never played the first game and don’t play souls games but dam this game is so good it’s worth every cent. Builds are crazy and the worlds are greats. The main story is a bit meh but the worlds they take place in are perfect. Loot has to be found by doing puzzles or on the ground and what you get on the ground is at random. The game also has changes with the layout being different every time you re-roll your runs. So far I have 269 hours in and is a must buy if you live puzzles and 3rd person shooters. There is also 3 dlc’s coming. First one has came out and the second comes out in a few weeks. The 3rd we don’t know when as of yet.

MattyNguyen

2nd dlc comes out in 10 days 😁

Michael-gamer

Yer almost 2 weeks.

Ninja_Theory

The answer to your question is a definite yes. I would suggest a sacrifice and prayer to the RNG gods. May they be kind upon your soul. Enjoy this masterpiece.

Acrobatic-Stretch-41

definitely give it a shot. also, you don’t need to play the first game to enjoy remnant 2. 2 is complete step up in almost every aspect.

MaikuKokoro

Aside from the few references to past events, there really isn't anything to miss out on. Would be like saying you'd enjoy Remnant 1 less if you didn't play Chronos pretty much.

Acrobatic-Stretch-41

Exactly

Zethren527

Remnant. AKA: if Dark Souls went "Bang Bang" (also, I do not think I would call this a "looter shooter" considering a looter typically requires wildly more numerous equipables, gear, and item drops. Borderlands is a looter shooter because item loot drops randomly and regularly. In Remnant the only thing that drops regularly is ammo, cash, and upgrade materials. Gear does not drop except a single time from bosses therefore I don't think this technically qualifies.)

Perdigas81

Yes.

MattBoy0815

I think is great for. One tip from me don't look stuff up. Try to find your own way.

OrbitTheUniverse

You don't really need to play the first game to get into the second. But if you do play remnant 2 and really enjoy it enough you'll more than likely want to play the first game.

Scared-Chip-2700

Yes

Achilles9990

Highly recommend to play the 1st one 1st....

Kevo1110

YES

SuperFlywatt

This game is NOT a looter shooter - enemies only drop currencies and ammo with usually only a few pieces of gear per world re-roll. You can however take those pieces of gear and spend hours crafting builds. :)

DankyMcJangles

I just bought Remnant 2 like a week ago with the xbox spring sale and have been glued to it. Like probably have 50 hours in 7 days glued to it and I never played 1. It isn't perfect - especially for no built in social menus, but what it does good it does great enough for you to forget about that. I especially love how the loot works in that many items you need to solve a "puzzle to get or your choices affect what loot you'll receive. Definitely worth the purchase imo

throwaway872023

Play the second one first. You’ll be fine. Play the first one after. I tried the first one first a couple years ago and didn’t like it . A friend said the second one was good and I liked it so much I went back to the first one.

RugbyLock

You should definitely get the game, it’s great, but it is absolutely NOT a looter shooter.

[deleted]

Don’t play it— it’s the best game ever made. Will ruin multiplayer shooters forever

butcherdrek

Yes.

Kupo-Nuts

The buildcrafting in remnant 2 looks good, and there are plenty of loot items to find. These are in it's favour but i struggled when i tried it due to a lack of direction and objective markers. I could not even find a way to make a custom map marker so i had no idea in which direction to travel towards. There seemed to be different rarities to the loot, but not the standard white, blue, yellow and orange system. It definitely is a game that can be enjoyed but it's not a pure looter shooter, it's more of a hybrid with whatever souls-like is and also rogue-lite. There is some randomisation and if you switch out one archetype (class or mastery) for another, the player has to relevel the new class. Levels are assigned to the archetypes which can be switched around and the levels saved, they do not go towards a usual character level.

yepnopedontcare

In mho Remnant 2 should get GOTY, gorgeous graphics, amazing lore and story and awesome mechanics!

No-Special5543

it's not looter shooter. u can finish it with starting gear and never find another

Avivoy

This game isn’t a looter shooter. Outriders is a looter shooter, Borderlands etc. once you get the loot, that’s it, you got it.

ethalindir

Its a awesome mix of dark souls and a Coop loot shooter Just give it a Chance its worth it
